What happened at the IRS is the government's essential business. The IRS case deserves and calls out for an independent counsel, fully armed with all that position's powers. A couple of weeks ago I was driving north of Saskatoon, and pointed out to my wife that 3 "Sandhill" cranes were about to cross in front of us. As we drove beneath the birds, I was delighted to see that they were pure white with black wingtips. "Whooping Cranes!"

That makes a total of 9 I have now seen in the wild.

Imagine my dismay, to discover that concern is growing that Wind Turbines ... those satanic bird-choppers being pushed upon us by that most loathsome of creature ... the Global Warming Fanatic, are suspected of murdering Whooping Cranes.

I've posted in the past my disgust at "Green" bird-choppers killing all manner of winged creature; but I had not considered Whooping Cranes ... the bird that has made an incredibly miraculous comeback. After all, in 1940, only 23 remained.

My disgust has now doubled ... especially after reading about something called the "Take Permit" and Whooping Cranes:

FWS is considering issuing an incidental take permit for the cranes to the operators of the proposed 100-turbine Merricourt Wind Power Project, in North Dakota's bird-rich Prairie Pothole wetlands district. An incidental take permit shields the holder from penalty for accidental "take" of a species, up to a limit listed in the permit. Activity ranging from killing the species in question to "harassing" it is regarded as a "take" for the purposes of the permit, but in the specific instance of wind turbine operation, incidental take of a whooping crane is likely to involve a dead crane.

Boston Marathon Bombing: A Story of Disappointments

When news of the Boston Bombings first struck, I happened to be on-line. As a result, I began following the sordid tale blow by blow almost immediately.

I was pleased to see some of the great thinkers of modern civilization such as Wolf Blitzer of CNN, David Sirota of Salon Magazine, and famed film maker, Michael Moore, hint that the bombings could be the work of American born and raised white rapscallions trying to make an ugly point on "Patriots Day" or "Tax Day". After all, with the recent growth of far right extremism, like the "Tea Party" and hate fomenting preachers like Sarah Palin, what other conclusions could one draw?

So it was that I waited, almost smug in my understanding of who the bombers were most likely to be. The crowing and excuse making that was going to erupt from the far right, when authorities caught some "Good'ol" Texas boy from a Baptist family, was going to be worth the wait.

A day later internet sleuths uncovered photos of the possible suspects, and much to my initial surprise the individuals were of what could best be described as "Middle Eastern" appearance. I was dumbfounded ... it made no sense. But after applying a few minutes of progressive logic ... that finely honed sense of acuity that comes after a lifetime of CNN and MSNBC, the obvious struck me.

Armanian Christians or Jews ... that had to be it. Who else, after all, would plant bombs next to innocent children.

Then, the FBI held it's now famous news conference where the images of suspect #1 and suspect #2 were beamed too a waiting world. One look at those images and my heart sank ... or rather, my mind reeled in confusion. Although the pictures were of two Caucasian males, there was something unfamiliar in the images ... something foreign ... something clearly not Armanian ... nor, was it American. Then it struck me.

Swedish Methodists ... of course ... how could I have missed it. The motus operandi was so obvious; only Swedish Methodists could be capable of such monstrosity. Who else, after all, had dedicated thousands of internet videos, and filled the airwaves with sermon upon sermon extolling the followers of Jesus to do as Jesus had done ... which was to drive the money changers from the temple.

As I waited for the inevitable take down of the Swedish scoundrels, I wondered at my miscalculations. The fact that my first two instinctive conclusions had been so off was unsettling. It caused me to consider other possibilities ... just in case the individuals were by some slim chance not Swedish Methodists. What if they had been black ... what then? I suppose the obvious conclusion would have been that Kenyan or Nigerian Roman Catholics were now up to no good in American.

Or, what if they had been Asian? What then? I suppose that then I would have had to face an ugly fact ... one that even I have been avoiding for years. To put it bluntly ... one can never trust a Buddhist.
