Anyone need some last minute valentine ideas???? This is what we came up with..........

Got this Idea from Pinterest. I think it came out cute. Took the pic, added some text, sent it to 1 hr photo, punched holes for lollipops.....Ta-Da.......

These candy bar wrappers are wrapped around Hershey Bars . We used stickers to seal the back.

Well, Hello Strangers.

It has been toooooo long. I can go on and on with all my excuses for not blogging for so long.

But .....Bottom line. Bad back,big move, new house and this is the first time in 27 years I have not had a child at home during the day. All the kiddos are in school. I have been a little lost.

So, now I am recovered, settled, pampered and over feeling sorry for myself!

Time to get back to the things I love. Blogging, quilting, sewing and sharing !!

To get myself going I have started a new quilt. I am calling it " Bricks and Mortar".

The fabrics are from Anthology. The line is High Society. I love this fabric!!!!

I have a new brown sofa and I am hoping this will be a match.

I am in the process of cutting the "Bricks "from the prints and the "Mortar" will be cut from Kona Charcoal.

I have drawn it out on graph paper as you can see from the photo. I could use a little help in the drawing department. The sewing should go better. I will share as I go along. I hope to have cutting instructions ect., for those who might want to try this one, soon.

So ...I haven't posted in a while. You wanna know why? Are you sure??
O.K. I was in the closet, after a shower, pulling on my knickers when I felt a stabbing pain in my lower back.That kind of pain that hurts so bad you feel like your body is on fire. I fell to my knees and screamed a little. My next thought was...I am buck naked with my panties half way up on my hands and knees on the floor. Wholly Crappers!!!
If I call for help, I know my kids will come running.See "the all of me" in ALL my glory and laugh like crazy.So, with all the might I pulled my self up, hiked up the unders,got sorta dressed and shuffled out to my bed.....Then screamed really loud.

Since that fateful morning. I have been well medicated and laying in bed.
I could have posted something.But it would not have made ANY sense.
Couldn't have been better timing. The big move to the new house starts tomorrow.
I think my hubby thinks I did it on purpose..LOL.
Wow, I wish I were faking it. It really hurts.
Anyone have any good advice for lower back pain??
My back has done this a couple times over the years ...Oh Man !! But never this bad.
I figure...if you can't put on your undies without throwing your back out. You better get back in shape....hehe.
If only I could sew and run on the treadmill at the same time......

I guess I will sign off for now. Hope to be back very soon!!!

This summer has been a lesson in creative entertaining .
We are moving into a new house. So packing, planning and cleaning have replaced a summer vacation. And by packing up stuff that would otherwise be played with... I have been left with some very bored kids. In a attempt to entertain.. We have found some cute videos and by my surprise, my inner 8 year old boy.....I haven't seen him since I sold my dirt bike when I was 11. This is the guy what lured him out........

The kids and I have watched everyone of the orange's videos. I don't know why I like him......but I do.
And the girl's are smitten. Must be his citrus smile.

Another video my girly's love is this "Sweet" one.

Well, if you have some bored kiddos around your house maybe this will help.
One warning....The fruit does get cut up at the end of each annoying orange video.
Although it cracks me up.....might be harsh for the littlest viewers.

Well, back to the machine for me.....My girls have seen those cute skirts and tops Jess made..

I going to have do some dolly sewing this week!! That is if I want to keep my Super Mama status.

The problem is once you start sewing these mini-clothes your hooked. Just a warning.....

My quilting has taken a bit of a backseat.

Frazzled is how I feel this summer!! I can't seem to get anything done. Anyone out there feeling this.Uuuuggg!!
I am starting to look forward to " Back to School" time. And it's still 3 weeks away.

Oh well, enough complaining!!!

I played with strings again,and some triangle scraps too.

This pretty little pile inspired this..

I had so much fun making my first string block....I started trying to find a fun new ways to use strings. I played until I came up with this idea. This block is not perfect I would change a couple things. I like the idea and look of it though.I'd like to make a whole quilt, a quick one that can be sewn in 30 min. sewing segments( Because my kiddos will have it no other way). I think it If I make a quilt I will use Kona cotton in coal instead of the white.
I dunno ...What do you all think???

On another topic...Nakey Baby has been such a fun,fun,fun project!! I love all the comments,e-mails and questions I received from my SuperSweet readers. It has been so nice getting to know some of you better!!!
I gotta tell you.... I saw this today over at The Amazing Jess's blog.

Are they not the cutest!!!! And Yup, she used my pattern. Thrilling to see someone use something I came up with. I am in the clouds over it!!!! You can read about her sewing the dresses here.

All and all ,even though I am frazzled, it has been a very good day!!

"Nakey Baby " 2 Dresses in 1 Tutorial

It is 2 ,Yes 2!! 2 Dresses in 1.

Do I sound like a salesman?I am a little bit. This little Dress is sooo simple to make. Perfect for a beginner, Superfast for a sewer with some skills. You could whip up 2 of these and 2 nappy/diapers in a couple hours for a great gift. Any little girl would love .

So away we go,

Supplies

2 pieces of fabric 18"x20"

2 closures (snaps ,buttons,Velcro or whatever you like!)

Embellishment if you like

Printed Template (link at the bottom of post)

This tutorial is so easy it hardly needs instructions...........

Fold one of the pieces of fabric in half . Place pattern on fold like so. Cut one ....Fabric #1.

Do the same with Fabric #2.

This is what you should have. Put the two cut outs right sides together, pin then sew a 1/4 "seam all around the dress.

Leaving a space open for turning. As I marked above.

Turn right side out and press. Make sure to turn 1/4 inch in at the opening to match up edge for top stitching.

Now it looks like this.

Top stitch all around dress very close to the edge. This will also close the opening.

Now we need to add some closures. I use snaps cuz I love 'em. Velcro would prabably work better. And buttons would be super cute ...if you feel that spunky. These photos are from the first dress I made with all one fabric. These shows where to put the closures.

Now ,on these two little dresses I added some embellishments. I applied them using fabric glue. Easy Peasy!!

I stitched a blanket stitch on felt hearts here. The hearts cover up the snap backs .

I have a compulsion to sit on my keester and stitch things. I know should go for a run. I know I should fold that heap of laundry staring at me. Or maybe finish one of the 4 quilt tops I have in progress.

But I can not.

I blame the blogs!!!!

Like this one or this one..but especially this one !!! That Texas Freckles went and made those Hexagons look so appealing. I just had to try one.Now, I've been had!!

After a couple of those little things of beauty were sewn up .I thought ....ooooo !! wouldn't it be cute if I stitched a little something on linen for one, a mushroom maybe? a cupcake? They just kept getting cuter.

It was as if they were calling me to sit down and make more of them.

Anyone out there suffering this very contagious disease???

Wow! Do you ever do something and it brings up a rush of childhood memories?

Well, I did that today. It was awesome. I was looking around the kitchen trying to figure out what to feed the troops for today.With out making that dreaded trip to the store. I hate the store. I saw hot dogs.... Just like that I thought of the wiener wraps they served at my grade school cafeteria .It was a strange wave of memory and emotion. At the time we complained ,as little kids do, about the horrible lunch room and the evil lunch ladies who made us finish our veggies and wore those plastic covers on their heads. But now.....I wish my kids could eat fresh prepared ,well balanced, healthy and tasty meal like we had.

The photo above is where I went to elementary school. I guess this is what it looks like now. When I was there it was painted an allover sage color. I attended John Gumm Elementary School waaaaaay Back in the 70's. I hadn't thought about that place in years. Now its all that's on my mind. I loved it there!!!!!

Anyway ,I decided to make some of those wiener wraps of my past.

They were pretty good. Just like I remembered. I told the kids a dozen stories from the way back machine. While I was making dough.Fed them something other than a sandwich or one of the other boring lunches we have around here.

And made a little dessert. All in less than 2 hours. I got some super mom creds today!!!

Wanna try um???

For the dough I used this recipe thanks to AllRecipes, I did use rapid rise yeast for speed.

Amish White Bread

Ingredients

2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour

Directions

In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.( 30 minutes for rapid rise yeast)
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes. I have used this recipe for bread lots of times, I love it and it is super easy. I think it would be an awesome recipe for a bread baking beginner. Hard to mess up.

This is how we turn Amish Bread into lunch time fun!!

After step two in the recipe. Roll out the dough into a huge rectangle. 1/2 inch thick.

Mine was super huge, because in this house one must double all recipes.

Cut into squares about the length of the dog you are using. And how many dogs you wanna make.

I used the doggies that were in the fridge. But you can use turkey dogs. Ham rolled with a little cheese inside would be awesome too. Dontcha think.

Lay doggy on square.

Roll stretching a little as you go. you want to totally cover the doggy.

Pinch dough together at seam

Pinch ends and tuck under.

Lay them all on a baking sheet sprayed with no-stick spray. ( for the little guys I cut doggies in half and rolled.You can see some little ones on the end). Let rise for about 20 min. Longer if you use regular yeast.

Pop them in a 375 degree oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes.

Cut and serve.

If they are a little doughy on the bottom just flip each one over and pop back in the oven for 5 min.

Just like back in the Lunch Lady Land!!!

I had some dough left over sooooooooo,

I mixed 1/4 cup softened butter with 1 cup of brown sugar and a 1 tsp. of cinnamon . I spread it on the leftover dough and rolled it up.

Cut in 1 inch sections

Laid them on a prepared sheet.

And baked with the doggies.

This is what I got. I am off to make some icing.

Delish.!!!

For any of you who have a dolly/or softie they can't live without. This is the greatest idea. Brought to you by the amazing..... .

When I saw this I remembered a trip we took.( Gotta minute for a story?)It was to Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. When I say we, I mean My Hubby, His Business partner , my Brother in law, myself and 3 kiddos . It was July and my Hubby wanted to take his family on this business trip. I think the guys would have rather gone alone...more beer, less crying. But away we went.
We arrived at the Milwakee Airport after 2 plane changes and several hours of flying. The kiddos were in pretty good spirits. After gathering the luggage, 2 carseats and porta crib ect. We headed off to the van that had been sent to take us to our rental cars . It took us about 45 min. to get to the dealership to pick up the cars. We loaded the cars and finally took of for Osh Kosh YEA!!. After about 30 min. or so into the drive my 4 year old son woke up and said, "where's Virgil ?" His stuffed pig. He had had it since he was born and NEVER went anywhere without it. I asked the caravan to pull over so I could look for it.
It was no where to be found.
We asked ourselves all the questions like, Did he have it when he got off the plane? Did he have it in the van?
Can we find a replacement??? I think it dawned on all of us.........we had to go back. Back to each of the places we had been. Calling everyone we could think of , saying ,Have you seen a pink stuffed pig.? If you find will you call. Nothing. My dear patient husband drove all the way back to the airport. Left us in the car.
and headed to the information counter. He thought he would ask them to make an announcement or something. As he walked up to the counter, much to his surpise , there sat Virgil. On the counter looking at him and giggling I am sure. Some one had found him and turned him in. The lady at the info desk thought he was cute and sat him on the counter. When My husband walked toward the car, with pig in hand, he was a hero to our son. It made the 3 hour delay well worth it. And Virgil ,who is now 17 years old, still holds a special place in our hearts. He is showing his age. But so am I.

Would of been nice if he would have had a cool tag!!!

It is 108 degrees...Maybe Nakey is a good thing??

Oh! my gosh it is hot today. I wanna be a nakey baby.... trust me, I am the only one that would like that.
In today's post we will be using the templates from the this post .
And following most of the same instructions. We will just tweek them a bit to make a couple more outfits.
Adding some sleeves to the bodice. And making some panties.

For this first one. Cut 2 each of shorts, bodice and sleeve. And one 5"x20" rectangle.

We are going to sew the sleeves to 1 of the bodice cuts.

With right sides together sew each sleeve to the bodice. Just sew a few stitches then turn.... ect.

It will look like this. Then make a teeny tiny hem at the bottom of the sleeve.

Can you see it???? It is a very tiny hem.

Now...sew your bodice pieces right sides together.
Like we did here. But only the back and neck line.
Then sew the sides together.
Once you turn it right side out it will look like this.
Front and back.
I did not finish the raw edges of the inside bodice. Because this will rarely get washed. If you want to please do.

O.K. am I making sense so far?? The heat is making me rummy.

Now hem up your rectangle, sides and bottom like so.

Ruffle or gather to suit. In this post I show how
I do it.

Now sew this piece on the bodice (refer to prior post if needed). Here is what you have now. Topstich on bodice.
Now add some Velcro for a closure .

I embellished with some pretty trim.

Now to sew the shorts, do it just like we did britches in this post.
The only thing different we are doing here is adding elastic to the leg openings.

Make a casing by folding a 1/4 inch then a 1/2 inch hem and pressing. Top stitch leaving a space to insert elastic.

Insert elastic to fit doll and close openings..

Ta Done. Little Britches Panties.

If you want little bloomers like these.You need to first make a tiny hem on the legs and add elastic with a zig zag stitch before sewing the crotch. Great tutorial for bloomers here.

This is the little bloomers and dress with long sleeves. To make the sleeves longer just ad 2" to 4" inches of length on the template.

I have almost clothed all the Nakey's in the house.
My next and last post in this project will be a" 2 dresses in 1" sun dress.
If you want to make a matching one for the girl in your life. You can get a child's size pattern here. I made these for my girlie's. I will post a template for the doll size in the next post.

Now off to put my head in the freezer!!

I'm in a virtual Quilting Bee. I very happy!!

The {Modern 12} Bee. I am really enjoying it. The first month is Sandie's. She requested string blocks in orange, blues and greens. Here is what I came up with.

I started with strings...

And ended up with a pretty.

I really liked making these. I used Rachel's tutorial from over at P.S. I Quilt. She makes it sooo easy.
My Iron loves to surprise me with a burst of steam now and again....Not Nice, curls the paper. So, I used my handy dandy wall paper seam roller to press out all the strings on the block. Worked like a charm.

The girls in the {Bee} are so talented. I love all the blocks. The next year is going to "Bee" super fun.

More Outfits for "Nakey Baby" Part 1

Hello Everyone,
Here are some more baby doll outfits .By using a Three basic templates (at the bottom of post) . You can make countless little outfits with these easy peasy pieces.I will show you an simple, no little hem," Baby Bodice" that can be a top or a dress, and it can have long, short or no sleeves. The " Lil' Britches" Can be shorts , pants, bloomers or panties .This is kind of a long post so we will do it in 2 parts. Bare with me it will be worth it...... I hope.

For the cute little striped number pictured above....
Print your templates.
Gather some fabric and a little elastic
The Lil' Britches template will print as shorts. To make pants just lengthen 3 inches or more inches as needed.
Like this...

Layout like this.

Cut 2 of bodice and pants. Then cut a rectangle that is 31/2"x20" inches

Now let us sew. Stitch bodice pieces right sides together. This is a little tricky, I hope this makes sense.
you will sew starting at the bottom of the back, then up to the neck line and back down the other side of the back.
Then sew around the curve both arm openings. Leaving the sides and bottoms un-sewn.

Now turn it right side out: By attaching a safety pin to one side of the back of bodice and feeding it through what will be the shoulder it will be turned right side out. Do it again on the other side.

Press bodice after turning. Easy huh? and no itty bitty hems.

Now it is time to sew the sides together.

Open sides like this.

Open both front and back sides, Pinch right sides together and sew. Then press.
Now you have a bodice that is ready to add a ruffle.
Fold the 3 1/2" x 20" rectangle in half , right sides together and sew ends. Turn inside out and press.
Use ruffling instructions here. Or use your favorite way to ruffle. ( you can cheat here and use lace or a trim)

Pin to front side of bodice and sew

Fold ruffle down press. Top stitch along ruffle line on bodice
Add closure of your choice. I like Velcro . Little snaps would be sweet.

Tip: If you want to make this a dress. Just cut a 5"x20" rectangle of fabric, hem one end and both sides .Sew on instead of ruffle. For the dress below I also added lace.

Now for some Britches

With right sides together. Sew curved seams front and back.

Open the pant and align seams. Now sew legs/crotch . Turn right side out. Hem legs. Fold over waist, iron 1/4 inch . Fold over again 3/4 inch. Iron & sew for elastic casing.Don't forget to leave a 1" space open to insert elastic. Size elastic to baby doll, insert in casing. Ta da Britches done.

Next Friday

In the Next Post we will ad sleeves and make bloomers/panties. Like in these outfits.

Note: I have now made about 10 outfits and a half dozen diapers for this project. Also some blankets. My nakey babies are nakey no more.I will be sharing more posts later. One interesting thing I have realized is I use these same techniques sewing clothes for my girls. I have had a lot of ladies say to me. I quilt , but sewing clothes seems hard or not worth the time. For me I have been sewing clothes way longer than quilts. If you haven't sewn kids clothes before this is a great way to play around and see if you like it. If you want to try making matching kid/doll outfits. Find a kids simple sewing pattern that has a bodice, sleeve and pant pattern pieces and sew up like these doll clothes. Your kid will be so happy.It will be very rewarding...I promise.

I ordered some fabric last week from fabric.com . This beautiful bundle of fabric love arrived today.
I have shopped fabric.com from time to time over the years. Not a lot ,I don't know why......I am always so happy when I do. Some of it was clearance, some not. I had a coupon for 20 % off. That I found on-line here . All the fabric I ordered is designer. Gabrielle by Studio E , Valorie Wells for Free Spirit. Tina Givens for Free Spirit ect. I had ordered 7 1/2 yards..but I received 10 1/4 yards they add a few inches to almost every piece. That seems to be a rule with them lately. I am dancing around like a happy fool right now. The final price turned out to be $3.82 a yard. How cool is that????? I don't know what I am going to do with it all yet. But ya'll know I will.
Or the girls will.

Oh My.....What a week !!!

Wow, has this week has been a doosey!!
It started out fine. I finished the 101 siggy blocks for the siggy swap . Proud as punch I was.... until ....
Tuesday when my 17 year old son ,a.k.a the boy, had a skateboarding accident. Not just any little ol' spill. A real live "Jackass" moment. I have never seen anyone with more pavement rash. In his whole life, I have hardly ever had to put on a band-aid on him. Ugggg. He redeemed all his ouchie quota's in one fall. I am nursing his wounds 24/7 with this one.

Wednesday our darling 4 year old Midgie took a spill on the playland at McDonald's. She went from ice cream cone uphoria, to bleeding profusely in meer moments. Oh man it scared the 24 year old manager on duty to death. He was more pail than she was. It was only a cut under her brow. But by the looks of it you would have thought 911 was in order. Luckily not needed. She did come home with a butterflied wound and a ridiculous amount of McDonald's chocolate chip cookies. On the house of course.

Thursday while I was taking a break from the crazy for a minute, kicking back in my favorite chair ...the boy's friends popped over to cheer him up.Four teenage boys, his closest buds. I am still not sure what happened, or why the boys were beside my design wall (can you tell where this is going?). But all of the sudden, hours and hours of work , painstakingly piecing each little triangle of the hexagon quilt-along quilt, that was up on the design wall.... was on the floor. I had finally perfected the layout. Every block was positioned in a random but not random place. The colors were scattered perfectly. I had even started sewing and placing each piece back on the wall, in just the right place......@#*$% teenage boys cannot help but horse around. Being the sweet boys they are they tried to put it all back. You can imagine what that looks like. I have to say though, the whole incident did take the boy's mind off the pain. Giggling at your friends who are trying to make up with your mother will do that.
So, I guess it goes without saying ...I am a little behind on my posts. blogging and sewing will have to wait while I smear neosporin ,wrap gauze, and hug these kids as tightly as I can without them screaming. Although it has been one helava week.... It reminds me of what is important . I am blessed it is just some wounds and not worse. It is amazing to see what great friendships my son has made ,they are really caring and good young men. I am proud that my other children love one another enough to put everything aside to make sure the wounded have everything they need .And there is lots and lots of love. I guess a shake up once in a while is a good thing.

I 'll be back shortly. When the healing begins.

I don't usually post pictures of me girlie's...........But who wouldn't wanna share this.
This is the picture my sweeties took for there Dad's card today. It was a very impromptu shot. But it captured them pretty well.

Everyone, Have a most wonderful Father's Day !!!! and if you have a minute say a little prayer for Mr.Moon. He's gotta get all these girls through the dating years. If they are anything like the Mama was...OOOooooo scarey!!

First "Nakey Baby" Outfit...............

Welcome to the "Nakey Baby" Project

Well here goes,

This is the first time I have done a on-line project like this, so please forgive my "Newbie-ness"

Supplies

Scrap Fabric ( I am using knit but you can use terry.flannel, cotton woven or an old tee shirt)

Velcro

1/4 inch elastic 6 inches should do it.

Templates printed out.(shown at the end of post )

Print out and cut your templates.

Lay them out on the fold of your fabric as shown. The sleeve template does not need to be on the fold.

Cut 2 of each.

This is what you should have. We will work on the diaper first.

Pin diaper cuts right side together.

Mark opening on the top back of the diaper cut.

This is your start /stop sewing marks. This way you will have a opening to turn it inside out. Sew a 1/4 inch seam, stitch around from mark to mark. Turn inside out and press.

This is what you'll have.

At this point sew up the opening. Time to add velcro. Size the diaper on baby. Then add soft side of Velcro to front of diaper and Velcro hook side to back tabs as shown here. Try the Diaper on the baby.

Now that was quick and simple....right. A great thing for a new sewer.

Sew a couple more for a set.

Now on to the top.

Pin sleeve pieces right side together on both sides of one body piece. Sew 1/4 inch seam to attach.

It will look like this with both sleeves sewn.

Now attach the other body piece to the un-sewn edges of the sleeves. It will look like this.

Then sew the side seams together. Start where the sleeve ends to the bottom of top. Use reinforced stitches at all starts and stops.

At this point fold down top edge of neckline 1/2 inch and sew. Leave a opening for the elastic.

Insert elastic cinch up to fit baby, then sew up opening. Your top will look like this now. Try on baby.

Cute right!! And quick.

Since I am using knit, I did not finish edges of the sleeves ect. If you used a woven fabric, add a 1/2 inch all around the trapizoid shaped templates ..That should give you plenty of room to hem.

If you want a longer dress just add to the length of the large top template.

You can really dress up this diaper with some ruffles. Refer to this post for ruffle making.

This one has matching britches. I'll add that template next week.

Tip: After printing and cutting the templates. Size to the baby you are sewing for by fitting the paper around baby if you need to enlarge or reduce size change your printer settings to suit.

My baby is 13 inches long.

I have been meaning to blog about this for some time now. You get to see what I have been doing instead of blogging.........

I never win anything..... This is a comment that will never come out of my mouth, EVER again. In the last few months I won, a fat quarter set from another blogger, a 23 fat quarter bundle from Sew Mama Sew's quilting month and ........drum roll please.........an EQ7!! Yes an EQ7. Can you believe it. I swooned!

From the fabulous "Jennifer Can Quilt" blog's EQ7 contest.

I counted the days until it arrived. And when it came. My girls and I fought for who got to play first. I won AGAIN...haha. I am bigger than them you know.

That's all the time I got before SuperGirl took over. She designed this one.

She LOVES solids. She is the Kona Queen in this house. Remember this quilt. Her 13th B-day is coming. All she wants is Kona in every color.

My oldest daughter who is now 15. Received this little set when she was 5.

As the years have gone by I have made new bedding and repainted it white with each new owner. This sweet set is on owner number six. # 6 decided repainting it white was not an option. I told her that it has always been white... her 5 big sisters liked the set white.

She didn't waiver, after all she is 4. #6 wanted pink. Not just any pink. Bright tulip pink. Oh, my.

How about yellow? Or baby blue? No PINK!!

The Boy did the spray painting.I owe him for that. After all his fingers were pink for a while....
I sewed a mattress and pillow, covered the seat. Then made a lil'quilt for the back of the chair.

I think you have seen the baby quilt before :) , this is it's new home.

Now that the project is done. I think pink was a good choice.

I think Baby thinks so too. # 6 and sassy loves it!!

My Goal in this project is to clothe the" nakey babies" (dolls) in this house.

I have been sewing a few little things and making a couple patterns/tutorials to share.

So, if any of you are tripping over nakey babies in your house. Please join in.

I am thinking that over the summer I will make clothes for all the nakey's and maybe some spares.

It is never to early to sew for Christmas or B-day's.

I will post once a week on Friday. I am keeping it simple. Beginner friendly.

If anyone has any ideas, patterns links or inspiration to share ...please do.

Headaches from Hexagons............

Hello All ,
I am working on the hexagon quilt -along today and these hexagons are tough to layout!
I really want a quilt that looks modern and simple. I would kinda like it to be a giant hexagon. But I don't think I have made enough blocks. I am playing with all kinds of ideas ...but it is tricky...at least for me. I have tried a few things...
Low-tech (Thank to my kiddos pattern blocks)

High-tech ( thanks to my EQ7 that I won, more about that later)

If any of you are like me you will love this source for free printable graph paper. They have so many cool papers I dare you to go there ,take a look, and not want to design a new quilt. Sharpen your colored pencils people. It is Awesome!

It was the Big Man's Birthday Sunday. I made his favorite cheesecake.

I like a little extra crust, can you tell.

I also made a cherry sauce for the top.

I made this with dark sweet cherries and Kirsch ( cherry brandy ).

I am pretty sure when it was simmering a little piece of Heaven fell from the sky

and right into this sauce.

Perfect Pair.

Yummy!!!!

If your needing you own.

I used this cheesecake recipe.

I did not use the sour cream topping.

I did ad a 1/2 cup of heavy ceam to the eggs.

Tip. Fill a roasting pan with boiling water. Placing it on the bottom rack under the cheese cake.

This will keep your oven moist so your cheesecake won't crack.

The cherry sauce was made with:

4 cups of dark cherries

1 c. sugar (less if your cherries are sweet)

2 cups water

1/2 cup Kirsch

Stir every thing together in a sauce pan. Bring to boil.

Simmer for 10 min. Ad 2 T. corn starch mixed with a little water.

Cook until thick.

I love making these maverick star blocks. What a wonderful way to use the little scraps.

This is a little doll quilt I pulled together for the girls.

I am making a promise this summer to sew up new clothes and bedding for the dollies in this house.

We have not bought baby dolls for a loooooong time. They are all hand me downs from the big girls.

They are all so loved. But in desperate need of a makeovers. If I threw one of these dolls out. It would be off with me head! And I am tired of looking at naked babies!!

This quilt is my start.

If any of you have any great doll clothes ideas ect. Please let me know. I have 10 dolls to sew for.

My Goodness it has been along time since I blogged.!!! Here in the desert summer break starts in May.

With my 7 kiddos home for the summer......I am....well...a little crazed. The blog is the first thing that goes.

I have managed to sew a little. Some summer jammies for the little one.

They turned out pretty cute.
I am also making signature blocks for this Siggy Swap.

I am having fun playing with Hexagons.

I really did not need another project........

I have tooo many WIP's right now!!

But after I saw all the lovelies going on at the Quilt Along. I just had to join the fun.

SuperGirl is also hooked on hexagons. This is here handy work.

She is having fun creating different designs.

I am a purest I guess...or just a little boring.

Well, now that I am getting the swing of summer. I'll be a bloggin' more.
