The challenge: Read something other than a traditional book

Magazines? Back of a cereal box? Graphic novels?--What is your favorite ‘nonbook’ to read?

I don't read Magazines all the time. I like Cosmopolitan and decided to pick them up from the library. It's just something about the summer that makes me want to read a magazine. I read Graphic Novels, I also get them from the library but I recently bought Descenders, Vol 1 & 2. I love the art to that one.

Manga - I count this as a book but some people don't. I know it's wrong but I read manga online. It's just more quicker and I don't have to wait for the next release. My library doesn't have the volumes to some manga or don't have it at all. But I want to try to read what they have to make it count on goodreads and to support. Right now I'm getting all of the Volumes of Blue Exorcist because they have all the volumes that are in English (I'm going to go back to reading it online cause I know I'm not gonna wait for them to be translated in English). I never read this manga but I watched the Anime and loved it, Can't wait for Season 2!!.

And I read FanFiction. :) That would be my favorite 'nonbook' read. I read that more than books.

How often do you go to the library?
8 times a month. I work at the library twice a week. I put the books back on the shelves, fix the shelves, and check if the books have any Holds.

What resources exist at your library?
There are 58 libraries in Brooklyn. They also have learning centers for adults. They have events for all ages, Toddlers to Adults. Games, Arts & Crafts, Chess. You can learn to put a Resume together. Knitting. They have GED courses/classes. They have so much that I don't even know about. Some libraries have different events. Also FREE SUMMER MEALS for kids 18 and under.

They have books, ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, computers, an area to charge your laptop, free wifi, educational books, movies, music, a summer reading challenge where you can win a prize. They also have books in different languages, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, etc.

So, how does this work?

Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.

Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.

When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.

When is it happening?

The read-a-thon will take place from the 9th to the 16th of July in your timezone. You can start anytime you want on the 9th, so just fit it around whatever works for you! As for the voting, that’s up to you too! Just remember to link your post/photo/video/tweet in the linky at the end of this post so everyone can vote on

I have done something I have never done before 1) I have read 6 books in a week, 2) read and finished 4 books in a day, and 3) I participated in three readathons, Dewey's 24 Hour, Authorathon, and SpringHorror RAT.

The Silence of Six (YA) - Love it, I cannot wait for the sequel. 5 stars.

Blue is for Nightmares (YA) - I read this back in High School and wanted to read it to see if I still like it, and I did not. 1 star.

Ruby on the Outside (Children) - I like the concept, a kid who is dealing with a parent in prison. It had grammer mistakes, a word would be missing or repeated twice. 3 stars.

The Great American Whatever (YA) - It was pretty boring. The romance sucked. The main character only cared about himself. 2 stars.

SOS: A Prequel to The Silence of Six (YA) - Told in the POV of one of the characters who dies in the beginning of The Silence of Six. 5 stars.

This Ordinary Life - 3.5 Stars

Winger - I really enjoyed the Ryan Dean West Shenanigans. But he was immature and mean. My favorite part has to be the 'Screaming Ned' that was too funny. Also why did that ending have to happen?, it came out of nowhere and why that character? :( 4 Stars

What I read since my last post

It was an okay read for me. The main character was pretty stupid. Almost everyone was telling him not to do this, but he still did it. Then he did it again. Got himself into all this trouble and he was just going to run away, and not even try to fix his mistakes. He spent like nine months with his aunts and did nothing. The adventure part was boring.

Adult

I really enjoyed this, 4 Stars.

What I read the last three weeks

Jeffersen Blythe, Esquire - I finished this last night and it was pretty disappointing.

William - I enjoyed it but didn't love it as much as the first one.

Wolf Children; Ami & Yuki - I loved it.

Next Reads

I want to read this before the month is over.

I watched the minions and that ending was CUTE!! KID GRU!!

I also saw Deadpool and it was really funny.
