He died in Lahore on July 12, 1993 and was buried in Model Town Cemetery.

Saifuddin Saif was born on March 20, 1922 in Amritsar. Where their ancestors migrated from Kashmir and settled. His father's name was Khwaja Meraj Din. Saif's mother died when he was two and a half years old. Saif received his early education from Muslim High School Amritsar but passed the matriculation examination as a private candidate. Then he entered MAO College, Amritsar. Here the closeness of Principal Dr. MD Taseer and English Lecturer Faiz Ahmed Faiz created scholarly and literary tastes.

Saif's education was incomplete due to his joining the Khaksar movement. Some connections led to the film world and Saif started writing film stories. After the formation of Pakistan, he came to Lahore and became associated with the film world again.

The films for which he has written songs include Hitchcock, Amanat, Newlywed Bride, Slave, Beloved, Aghosh, Eye Drug, Sat Lakh, Kartar Singh, Toofan, Killer, Revenge, Lakht Jagar, Amrao Jan Ada, Suraya Bhopali, Azra, Tahzeeb, Narkali, Anjuman, Shama Parwana are at the top of the list. He also made films including Sat Lakh and Kartar Singh

Here are some of his most popular songs:

Jealous Arman my heart cries (Anarkali)

That dream has been shattered, hope has been shattered.

Don't let the wind blow (the motherland)

Wherever I look, there are pictures of you (Suraya Bhopali)

I will leave your city (candles and butterflies)

It's hard to express, can't even say anything (association)

They have come to lay down what was left.

If the weather is colorful, take a holiday and come to Balma (seven lakhs).

Saifuddin Saif kept in touch with literature along with the film and continued to compose songs as well as poems and lyrics. Saifuddin Saif's poetry realistically describes the problems of society and the realities of life. Her name before marriage was Leela Nagarkar In her early years, she starred as a romantic lead, but she is best remembered for her later roles playing a virtuous and upright mother to leading stars. She was one of the first educated film actresses. After graduation, she joined Natyamanwantar, a progressive theater group that produced plays in her native in Marathi language. The group's works were greatly influenced by Ibsen, Shaw and Stanislavsky. With the theatre group, Leela played the lead role in a series of comedies and tragedies & even founded her own repertory.

She married a much older man named Dr. Gajanan Yeshwant Chitnis at the age of 15 or 16, and quickly had four children. The couple supported India's struggle for independence from Britain and once risked arrest by harbouring Manabendra Nath Roy, a Marxist freedom fighter. After she divorced her husband, she worked as a school teacher and began acting on stage in melodramas typical of the time. She appeared in several movies and went through a Bombay university to be hired by a major studio, Bombay Talkies, it hired only college graduates.

She had four sons Manavendra (Meena), Vijaykumar, Ajitkumar and Raj. She started acting to support her four children. She started as an extra and went on to stunt films.

In "Gentleman Daku" (Gentleman Thief) in 1937, Chitnis played a polished crook dressed in male apparel & was publicised in the Times of India as the first graduate society-lady from Maharashtra. By then she had already made her first major mark as an actress on the silver screen. Leela

Chitnis worked at Prabhat Pictures, Pune & Ranjit Movietone before going on to be the leading lady in Bombay Talkies.

Specialising in controversial films that challenged accepted societal norms, especially those regarding marriage and the invidious caste system, Bombay Talkies was having limited luck at the box office. But it bounced back with "Kangan"

(1939), which introduced Chitnis playing the lead role as the adopted daughter of a Hindu priest in love with the son of a local landlord who opposes the relationship and threatens the holy man. Her love, however, stands up to his father's prejudices, an unusual theme for the time, but one that appealed to the public imagination enough to ensure it success at the box office.

With Kangan's success, Leela replaced Bombay Talkies' ravishing leading lady Devika Rani. Leela made a particularly good partner with Devika Rani's leading man Ashok Kumar for a series of box-office hits such as Azad (1940), Bandhan (1940) and Jhoola (1941) that broadly deal with societal issues.. Ashok Kumar was so impressed by her acting abilities that he admitted to having learnt how to speak with his eyes from her. In 1941 Chitnis, at the height of her popularity and glamour, created history of sorts by becoming the first Indian film star to endorse the popular Lux soap brand, a concession then only granted to top Hollywood heroines. Composed by ,,, M Saleem kaifee

By the mid-1940s her career went downhill as the new leading ladies came in. Leela accepted the reality & in 1948 entered the next, and perhaps most renowned, phase of her career in "Shaheed". Cast as the hero's suffering, ailing mother, she played this role to perfection. For 22 years, Chitnis played the mother of the later leading men including Dilip Kumar, often playing an ailing mother or a mother going through hardships and struggling to bring up her offspring. In fact she created the archetype of the Hindi Film mother, which was continued by later actresses. Leela's maternal histrionics were portrayed in a range of films such as "Awaara" (1951), "Ganga Jumna" (1961) and, in 1965, the runaway success "Guide", based on the award-winning novel of the same name by R.K. Narayan. She was busy through the 1970s, but cut down her appearances thereafter before taking the final curtain call in "Dil Tujhko Diya" in 1985. She then emigrated to the United States in the late 1980s to join her children.

Leela also briefly dabbled in movie-making, producing "Kisise Na Kehna" (1942) and directing "Aaj Ki Baat" (1955). She also wrote and directed a stage adaptation of Somer-set Maugham's Sacred Flame & published her autobiography, "Chanderi Duniyet" in 1981.

<div class="o9v6fnle cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q" In 1947, her family was uprooted from Lahore during the communal frenzy and was resettled in Uttar Pradesh. She went to school in Lahore and then attended IT college in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Bina Rai lived in Kanpur until she moved out for acting. She had to convince her parents to allow her to act in films, she claimed that she went on a hunger strike to convince her disapproving parents to let her join films, and they finally relented.

Bina Rai belonged by marriage to the Kapoor clan, Bollywood’s version of the Barrymores. Her late husband, Prem Nath Malhotra, was brother-in-law to Raj Kapoor.

Bina Rai was a first year student of Arts in the Isabella Thoburn College of Lucknow in 1950, when she came across an advertisement for a talent contest, she applied and received a call from the sponsors. Although she had been active in college dramatics, a film career was never within her field of vision. Nevertheless, she went to Bombay to participate in the contest, where she won along with the 25,000 rupees in prize money, a leading role in Kishore Sahu's Kali Ghata (1951), which became her film debut, and also featured Kishore Sahu in the lead role.

Bina Rai was born in 1932 and she signed the contract on her first film on 13 July 1950, namely Kali Ghatta. Her first film released on 13 July 1952, on the happy day she was engaged to Prem Nath. On 2 September 1952 she married actor Prem Nath, whose sister Krishna was married to the actor-director Raj Kapoor, and was part of the Kapoor family. They had acted together in some films, the first movie in which he was paired with Bina Rai was Aurat (1953), a Bollywood version of the tragic Biblical tale of Samson and Delilah (1949). The film was not a hit, but Bina Rai and Prem Nath fell in love with each other. They married and soon set up their own production unit, known as P. N. Films. Their first film from P.N. Films was Shagufa (1954) and they had pinned high hopes on it, but audiences rejected it. Neither Bina Rai's elfin charm nor Prem Nath's sensitive portrayal of the role of a doctor could save Shagufa from being a flop. And the films that followed Shagufa, Prisoner of Golconda, Samunder & Watan disappeared almost as soon as they hit the theatre screens. Thus the Prem Nath-Bina Rai pairing never clicked on the screen.

However, her films with leading man Pradeep Kumar remain best remembered performances, where she played the title role in Anarkali (1953), Taj Mahal and Ghunghat.

In the 1970s, her son Prem Krishen became an actor and had one big hit; Dulhan Wohi Jo Piya Man Bhaye (1977), but couldn't sustain the momentum, so he turned producer, with the Cinevistaas banner, which went on produce TV series such as Kathasagar, Gul Gulshan Gulfam and Junoon. He launched his daughter Akanksha Malhotra as an actress in 2002 in his home productions, claiming that she reminds him so much of his mother Bina Rai. In 2002, their son, Kailash (Monty) Nath released a tribute album, to his father on the occasion of his 10th death anniversary and 76th birth anniversary, titled Amar Premnath, released by Saregama. This was the era of black and white films and films were being made in both Urdu and Punjabi languages. The sun was shining on the popularity of Sabiha Khanum, Suran Lata, Ashaposle, Bihar, Shahina, Musarat Nazir, Ragini Begum, Shamim Bano, Nasreen, Kalawati, Gulshan Ara, Sharara, Begum Parveen, Madam Noor Jahan and Nelo. But there was another actress who made a name for herself. Her name was Shammi Begum. In 1949, she acted as a child star in the film "Shahida" and then in 1950, she appeared in the film "Bekaar" as a supporting actress. Her real name was Shamshad Begum. She was born in 1937 in Delhi. She was very beautiful. He gained fame in 1950 when his Punjabi film "Shammi" was released. She was the only actress in whose name the film was made. "Shammi" proved to be a successful film. Along with Shammi, Santosh Kumar was the hero. His songs also caused a stir. Especially this song sung by Inayat Hussain Bhatti "Sohe Jode Wale" has crossed all the boundaries of popularity. This Punjabi song also became very popular in India. The filmmaker of "Shammi" was the famous singer Malaka Pakhraj. Queen Pakraj had her own studio in Lahore. Queen Pakraj was the mother of famous singer Tahira Syed. Shammi has acted in 13 films, including 12 in Urdu and one in Punjabi. His film "Rohi" was banned in 1954. The reason given was that it incited class hatred. Among his other films, "Ghulam, Alzam, Mehbooba, Tarap, Khazan Ke Baad, and Pawan" are particularly noteworthy. The film "Ghulam" was made by Anwar Kamal Pasha who was a parrot at that time. Apart from Shammi, Sabiha and Santosh Kumar were also in the film. Shami's performance in this film was liked. There is no doubt that she was a great actress who impressed the audience with her facial expressions. Then their beauty also drove people crazy. In 1953, his film "Alzam" also became very popular. It was directed by Rafiq Anwar. The story of this film was written by Naeem Hashmi and its songs were the result of the penmanship of Yazdani Jalandhari and Naeem Hashmi. In 1953, he released another notable film, Mehbooba, starring Santosh Kumar and Asha Posley. Then in the same year his film "Tarp" was released in which Sudhir and Allauddin showed the essence of acting with him. His films "Sohni, After Autumn, Wind, Coast and Rebellion" did average business. In 1953, during the shooting of the film "Tarp", Shammi fell in love with actor Sudhir. Although Sudhir later married actress Zeba, his marriage to Shammi continued. It is also important to mention here another Shammi film "Pawan". His performance in this film was much appreciated. This was Aslam Irani's first film as a director and he was accompanied by Sudhir, Asha Posley, Nazar, Zarif, Nighat Sultana, Ghulam Mohammad and Maya Devi. Its filmmaker was Chaudhry Eid Mohammad. It was a story by Anwar Batalvi and dialogues were written by Arsh Lucknow. Nazir Jafari composed the beautiful songs of Qateel Shifai and Mushir Kazmi. The singers of the film also did well and sang with great dedication. The singers included Kausar Parveen, Inayat Hussain Bhatti, Saleem Raza and Zarif. Inayat Hussain Bhatti proved that he can sing not only in Punjabi but also in Urdu. "Rebellion" was Shammi's last film made by her husband Sudhir. He had also built "beaches" before. Munshi Dil, the director of "Shammi", once said that Shammi acted in only one Punjabi film and all his other films were in Urdu. Could do and they could get better characters. Shammi is also said to have had a very good dialogue style. His films were released in competition with Indian films. Although Indian films were technically better, the hard work of Pakistani actors and other staff worked and put the fledgling film industry on its feet. Shami, like other Pakistani actresses, contributed to the development of the Pakistani film industry and her films competed with Indian films during this period. Here we will tell our readers that Shami's elder sister Salma Mumtaz was a brilliant actress of Pakistani film industry who proved herself as a character actress. People still do not forget Heer's mother in the 1970 film "Heer Ranjha". This role was played by Salma Mumtaz. Shami Begum passed away in Lahore on July 8, 2001. The amount of work she did will be remembered in the sense that she devoted all her talents to stabilizing the Pakistani film industry in comparison to Indian films.

Asiya Begum

#Pakistan Film Industry's charming and beautiful Actress Asiya Begum

Asiya Begum is one of the leading actresses in Pakistan's film industry.
