What is LMR?

Land Mobile Radio (LMR) is a section of wireless communications intended for use by terrestrial (ground or marine) applications be it vehicular (mobiles) or hand- held two-way communications (portables).
LMR antennas can be completely self-contained fixed systems such as those used by companies with fleet vehicles, or can be integrated into fixed communications systems such as the public switched telephone network or cellular networks such as those used by first responders.
LMR can also be known as Public Land Mobile Radio, Private Land Mobile Radio, or Land Mobile Radio System (LMRS).

Typical equipment used:

Vehicular applications: A variety of radio manufacturers offer design-in, fixed mounted radio units that connect to external antennas that can be mounted in a variety of areas. They vary in size, length and shape but almost all are designed to be connected to some mounting base that is connected via coax cable to the fixed mounted radio.
The mounting bases (available in Laird products) can be connected to the vehicles at a variety of areas such as: mirror, trunk, light bar or surface mounts. Portable Applications: Portable applications include conventional walkie-talkie types of radios that are carried on the person. MikroTik is happy to announce the second MikroTik User Meeting in Phoenix AZ, September 30th - October 1st 2010

Purpose of the Meeting

MikroTik Router operating system and software offer a new and exciting alternative to traditional brand name router solutions. This will be a meeting that will present strategies for deploying new and innovative MikroTik RouterOS and RouterBoard hardware applications.
Also don't miss the training before the MUM, that's two events at the same place!

Entry Price

Free registration is available! Free registration doesn't include RouterOS license and Lunch, those are included only with paid registration. Paid registration is $50. Either Free or Paid registration is mandatory for all attendees, and must be done on-line before arrival: register now!. Paying attendees will also receive free RouterOS license, but only if they attend the Event

Dates of Events

Training before the MUM is a separate event, MUM registration price does not include Training! MTCINE class is organized by MikroTik (MTCNA certificate is required to attend). Other training classes will be hosted by our partners (more information forthcoming). Training takes place from September 27-30 (3 days). More info on our training site.

Focus of the user meeting is a comprehensive range of talks about using MikroTik products in various environments and applications. Furthermore, space will be provided for resellers and consultants to put up their own stand or host a discussion table.
MikroTik is the organizer of these events, providing the users with an opportunity get together and learn more from each other.
Following the success of prior MUMs, we cordially invite proposals of presentations to the MUM. Presentations are welcome from users of MikroTik software and hardware who wish to share their knowledge and experience of using MikroTik products for various networking needs.

Submitting Contributions

Registration and submission of contributions is via e-mail to support[at]mikrotik.com. For participating in the Call for Papers, you will have to submit a short abstract, as well as a detailed description. To have the presentation at the MUM and qualify for the bonus from MikroTik, you will also need to submit slides for your talk to be put on the wiki page.

Length of the Contributions

The abstract should summarize the planned content of the talk in a precise and succinct way. We do not place a limit on its length. Please include full name(s) and a short description about the presenter(s).
The talks should take no more than 45 minutes, in order to allow some time for questions and for preparing the stage for the following speaker. Shorter presentations are possible, please let us know approximate time you would require
We can accept longer contributions in special cases; we ask for a justification for the longer extent in this case.
We will publish presentation slides only in PDF format and therefore ask you to refrain from using animations.
Contributions are selected based on their content by a program committee. Please understand that we cannot accept all contributions, depending on the number and quality of the submissions.

Per Member requests, WISPA is proud to hold it's first WISPA Regional Meeting in St. Louis, Mo on July 21st and 22nd. We are currently planning three tracks, packed with information on regulatory issues, operations, marketing and other challenges the WISP industry faces on a day to day basis.

We invite all WISPs and wireless integrators to attend this meeting. Come meet the current WISPA Board and hopefully many of the new Board members who will be running for next years Board. There will be a breakfast Board Meeting on the second day, so you will be able to see the Board in action and participate in the discussion.

The new facility is located in Cincinnati, Ohio and follows the recent purchase of the Resale Business Unit of RF Linx, Inc. Streakwave will staff the newly established location with the former RF Linx Technical Sales Team and additional support staff.
