Plastic Pollution

Even though this video is Christmas-related, it makes you reflect on the amount of plastic we use everyday. The video is one of many made by the organization Clean Seas in its fight against plastic pollution.

The first video is subtitled in English and the second in Spanish but the audio is in English in both of them. Watch the one that suits you best and give some thought to the amount of plastic you use now and how much of it you can easily replace.

Vocords is a very good page not only to learn vocabulary but to practice listening. The video below is a good example; it teaches you the meaning of the following words and expressions: weight-in, lad, stigma, weight on your shoulders, mate. How many of those do you already know? What is your guess for the others?

In this video, Paddy Pimblett, a boxer known as Paddy the Baddy, gives a powerful message about mental health. Paddy is from Liverpool and he has quite a strong accent from northern England; how well can you understand it?

Commencement speeches are usually given to graduating students at American universities; the speakers are notable figures: politicians, actresses or actors, important citizens and their purpose is to inspire students for life.

In the videos below, Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe on the sitcom Friends, speaks about `finding your reason´ in her motivational speech at Vassar College in 2010.

The first video is a short piece with subtitles in Spanish; you can find her entire speech in the second video, but there are no subtitles there.

The UN has launched a climate change campaign in which a dinosaur, Frankie, voiced by Jack Black warns world leaders to save `your´/our species, with the message:"don't choose extinction"
