A Brief Baking Break...

2012-05-21T08:32:00.003-04:00

It's been awhile! I have been busy and have lots of pictures to post. I've been using Facebook much more than my blog. If you haven't liked my page yet and you miss my updates, please take a minute to visit. Until then, I just want to tell you the summer plan.

My baby is due mid-June, but I think it all may happen very soon. I am no longer taking orders and hope to resume my baking in August and just in time for the school year! Please send me an email if you would like get a spot on my August calendar. Believe it or not, it is filling up.

Thanks for your understanding and support as I take this little break from baking to enjoy the summer with our new little family member. I will check in with a baby update. Until then...

Some Assembly Required

2012-03-09T08:26:00.001-05:00

After all the flowers, baby cookies, etc., I realized I've never done a robot. So when Shauna asked me to do them for her son's 3rd birthday, I had no idea what direction I would go! After googling robot clip art, I ended up using round cookies and 2 fun robot shapes.

Kinda freaky, huh?

Still fun!

Shauna also asked for coordinating 3s

to go with the platter

I haven't done a shot like this in awhile.

Don't they look so thick and soft?

Thanks, Shauna!

March Already??

2012-03-04T21:37:00.000-05:00

Can you believe it's March? Of course, I'm counting down until I deliver this baby in June, but it really just feels like we finished Christmas! I'll take it though. February was a big blur for me. In addition to the plethora of Valentine's orders (too many to photograph - I was literally pumping them out the door!), I had the following orders AND my son's 6th birthday party. I still can't believe what a blessing SugarChic has been in my life. Thank you so much!

Lego Favors for Ben's classmate and friend, Brady.

Thanks Elizabeth! It was a great party!

Cat in the Hat

Whimsical and fun!

Thanks, Shelley!

A thank you assortment for a vet.

Thanks, Michelle!

Diamond rings to thank a jeweler.

Thanks, Virginia!

Due date cookie favors for a baby shower!

Toni sent me a pic from Pinterest of a similar cookie

made with fondant. Since I don't use fondant, I decided to layer the cookie "date" with a small cookie.

It worked out better than I thought and
gave them some interest!
Thanks, Toni (and Lia)!

Petites to match a baby shower invite.

Thanks, Michelle!

Campfire cookies for Nathan's 5th birthday!

Thanks, Ellen!

Have you ever heard of Monster High?

I hadn't until I got this picture from Lindsey.

Her daughter wanted cookie pops to look like this!

Yikes!

I hand cut these and think they came out great!

They were given out as favors.

Thanks, Lindsey!

More to come. I am hoping to do a "Shamrock Special." Stay tuned for more info! Check my FB page for announcements and info regarding specials and ordering.

2012-01-16T20:18:00.000-05:00

The end of my 2011 was also the end of my morning sickness and first trimester fatigue. I finally feel like myself again besides the ever-expanding belly. So...here is the end of my 2011 cookies that I just never got around to sharing.

2012-01-16T15:42:00.001-05:00

Need something to warm up your winter? Check out these cookies I did way back in the fall. Heather is the photographer at Innis Photography. She does Boudoir sessions and was having an open house where she served my corset cookies and coordinating Petites.

Thank you to Heather! These were some of my favorite cookies to create!

Third Time's a Charm!

2011-12-08T21:32:00.001-05:00

It's the most wonderful baking time of year and I have been in the biggest rut ever! If you don't know from my Facebook page or from just knowing me personally, you might wonder what's going on. I am expecting my 3rd baby! AND this pregnancy decided to take from me many of my favorite things...

1. My love for coffee - EW! It's slowly coming back and of course it's of the decaf variety. :(
2. My love for veggies! Again, if you know me, I've been about 90% vegan (I say 90% because I still ate a SugarChic cookie on a weekly basis) since last spring. It was one of the best things I've ever done. But guess what? I get knocked up and only want cheeseburgers! Yep - totally weird and totally amazing at the same time. Needless to say, I'll be back to my vegan-ish ways in about 6 more months.
3. My love for SWEETS! Not only do I not really crave them, but I am not really into making them either. Very sad.
4. Energy.

As I enter my second trimester, I see some of my loves coming back, but my pregnancies are always a bit "iffy" (for lack of a better word) so I will be strategically taking orders from now through the summer. Please inquire when you are in need! I just can't guarantee that I will continue to overload myself (as I usually do). Ha!

As always, thank you!

Better at Baking than Blogging?

2011-11-08T13:02:00.001-05:00

Miss me? Here are some way-back-when orders...with many more to come. As usual. I guess I am a better baker than blogger.

Laurel was going to an annual party where the host loved a certain kind of plane. It's called a Stearman.

I know nothing about this plane, but I was about to make it into a cookie!

Kinda fun!

Coordinating Petites too!

Thanks, Laurel.

I don't think I'll have another order like this one!

Precious!

2011-09-29T23:13:00.001-04:00

If there is anyone I know who is as sweet as my cookies, it's Stephanie. She ordered cookies for her friend who had twin baby girls earlier than expected! She asked for a soft palette of green, pink, yellow, brown and white. They melted my heart!

This little whimsical flower was my fave!

Hello Cute Stuff!

Awe, little monograms for those babies!

Fun MaryJanes too.

Some were polka dots.

Sugar for some texture on the platter!

Love!

Thank you so much, Steph!

I hope these cheered everyone up!

Love ya!

Silly Disclaimer: I am a perfectionist...not a photographer. I feel the need to tell my readers that my new house is not conducive to my cookie picture taking! My old house was wide open with a wall of windows and LOTS of natural light. My new house? Not so much! We have trees surrounding the windows and only one little spot where I can take pictures without my flash at very limited times of the day. I love my house for so many reasons, but this is frustrating. I don't feel like my cookies are getting what they deserve! So...please keep that in mind when you are wondering why my photos may not be as bright and clear as they used to be. I guess you'll just have to order some of your own to see, feel, taste, and touch the real thing. :)

Abracadabra!

2011-09-29T22:40:00.001-04:00

What do pizza and magic have in common? It's a 6th birthday party for a special boy! Alison ordered pizza cookies - yes, slices of pizza - and "magic" cookies for her Beck's birthday party. Fun!

Very fun, but kinda weird!

A cookie that looked like melted cheese.

Sweet or savory?

Bringing a touch of magic!

Beck had a magician as his special guest.

B for Beck!

Alison fed her large crowd with

PETITES!!!

Perfect to pop!

Thank you, Alison!!!

Let It Rain!

2011-09-19T15:09:00.000-04:00

Well, hello there. It's been awhile. Have you ever longed for a rainy day so you don't have to do some of the things you really should do because the weather is not cooperating? That is today for me. It's gray and wet outside - the perfect excuse to be blogging.

You can rest assured that when I'm not updating my blog, I am baking or...still unpacking, organizing, cooking dinner, getting numerous drinks for my kids in a 12 hour period, tutoring a 3rd grader, exercising, watering my mums, drinking wine, kinda sleeping, etc. I wish I could include reading my magazines (one of my favorite things to do), but not quite yet. A girl can dream.

As of last week, both of my kids are in school (Ben in K each afternoon and Paige in preschool two afternoons a week). I am adjusting to our new routine and really plan to carve out some blog time soon. Right now? Paige and I are in my bed on a rainy afternoon - she is eating popcorn and watching Alvin and the Chipmunks while I feverishly upload and put together this titillating post for your viewing pleasure! The cutest part is when she sees each cookie pic, she declares that one her fave! Love this girl! We are due over at Ben's school in 60 minutes for pickup. I have about 15 orders from the past 5 weeks I need to post so this one will consist of many. Let's try to get a few in right now! GO!

Petites have been a popular choice lately to

supplement an order of custom platter cookies

for a large crowd.

These were for a polka dot baby shower.

Thanks, Nancy!

My friend, Dawn sold her house and

ordered some gift packs for her real estate agent's office.

Thanks, Dawn!

You can never go wrong with initials

and ages for a party!

Thanks, Lisa!

Cowboy hats for Amelia's horseback riding

6th birthday party!

Thanks, Janine! Ben had a blast!

William had a Cars 4th birthday party.

Thanks, Steph!

Tangled cookie favors...thank you, Robin!

These strawberry baskets were a hit for many!

Wine bottles for a wine tasting...thanks Robin S!

THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU!

Much more to come...in the meantime, I will be cleaning the huge popcorn mess to my left...in my bed!

See? And I wonder why I'm so slow on the blogging! :)

Who Doesn't Love...

2011-08-20T23:57:00.001-04:00

...the 80s?! This order was so fun and sooooo intimidating at the same time. Meredith actually sent me a picture of the cookies she wanted...done by none other than Sugarbelle!! If you know me, you know she is my...all together now..."cookie idol" - yes! So it's always an honor, but at the same time, a total anxiety attack!

So Meredith ordered cookies in the spring for a bachelorette party. She came back for more cookies for a birthday gift.

Remember this stuff??

At a time when CDs are fading away,

I am making cassette cookies!

Thanks, Meredith!

Such a cool order!

Hole In One

2011-07-26T13:40:00.000-04:00

I have been wanting to do golf cookies for a long time! The trouble is - when you are one mommy making cookies for others on a weekly basis, you are rarely able to venture out to explore the designs in your head! So when Kate ordered a load of golf cookies for her son's 2nd birthday, I was excited!

Luckily, Kate wanted a variety of designs. I enlisted my usual sources of inspiration (Sugarbelle and various google results on the internet) and also used Kate's ideas.

A variety of platter cookies - she asked for a few dozen!

I love the coordination of colors with pops of white golf balls and different textures.

I love a little embellished initial!

The birthday boy is Aidan.

I can't take complete credit for this design

(it's all over the internet),

but I did add my "sugar" for a little "chic" effect.

Oh, and I thought the little candy ball

(also known as a dragee) was a cute touch.

Me trying to be creative with my camera.

Ha!

This was Kate's idea!

Cookie pops for decor...

"Aidan 2" to reflect "Titleist 2"...

pretty clever, huh?

I forgot to take pics of the favors all packaged, but

I made Petite Stacks of mini golf balls for Aidan

to give to his party guests.

Thank you, Kate!

I hope Aidan's PARty was a hole in one!

Cookie Catch Up

2011-07-14T11:33:00.001-04:00

For the sake of time and many upcoming orders, I am going to show several orders in one post. Someday I will be caught up...right?

Meredith ordered bras for a bachelorette party and sparkly Ms for the bridal shower.

Thanks, Meredith!

I'm looking forward to doing your

80s cookies this weekend!

Jennifer requested soft animals for a baby shower.

These were some of my faves!

What a sweet elephant, right?

Diana asked for her daughter's HS colors and new college colors.

My wonderful friend, Marcie, had a fun bday party for her 3 year old twins. The party was Dora AND Ariel. That's what you get with twin girls who are very girly!

We went with cookie lollies in their favorite colors!

Happy Bday Aiden and Addy!

Finally, my friend, Tammy, is attending a retail biz conference and asked for cookies for the attendees. The conference is in Vegas next week.

Simple with a little Vegas flair.

Thanks to all of you! I'm so blessed to do this!

Strawberry Season!

2011-07-12T07:40:00.000-04:00

I'm back! We moved and I wish I could say the stress is over. It's just morphed into something different. I'm hoping we get unpacked and settled in by the time the kids graduate from HS. It's slow going, but the most important room is done...the kitchen! I did fulfill a large order yesterday. So SugarChic is back in business. I have orders through August. If you are interested in getting your order on the calendar, let me know ASAP!

In the meantime, please check out my strawberry baskets. I did these for a couple of friends as a thank you. They can be personalized for any type of summertime gift...I'm thinking hostess gifts, birthdays, thank you gifts, party decor, etc.

Basket of 15 mini strawberry cookies = $10
Basket of 8 strawberry cookies, a cupcake, and personalized round cookie (as shown) = $15

Cute little 1.5 inch bite-sized cookies

Strawberry cupcake!

Strawberry basket includes 8 strawberry cookies,

personalized round cookie, and a strawberry cupcake

$15.00

A basket with 15 strawberry cookies

$10.00 (not shown)

Celebrate strawberry season!

Life's a Beach!

2011-06-20T23:21:00.000-04:00

Happy First Day of Summer!!! We have been home for 2 days. Our vacation was wonderful this year. The kids had a blast, we took time to relax, and the weather was fantastic! Blissful! Now we are home and we have less than 2 weeks to move into our new house! Exciting, crazy, busy, nuts, etc. Well, let's just say it's opposite of the beach!!!

Here is an order for beach cookies I did a few weeks ago for an old teacher friend, Beth, whose son was graduating from HS and going to a Florida State. She wanted beach cookies and that is what she got! I know I say this a lot, but this was one of my favorite orders!

The crab was definitely the star.

As I decorate cookies, I have a little group of

friends who get "sneak peaks" of my creations

via late night text messages. That crab?

Yeah, he won most popular!!!

Who me?

I personally LOVED the bucket o' sand!

The palm trees got a lot of chatter too.

These were my second fave!

I used crumbled cookies for the sandy look!!

I also used my cake cutter to make this castle.

I'm getting better at improvising!

Can't forget the floppers at the beach!!

Simple shells.

That sneaky crab...

Thank you Beth!

Best of luck to your son.

Happy Summer!!

Catching Waves and Catching Up!

2011-06-16T10:54:00.000-04:00

We are finishing up our week at the beach. It has been so wonderful to escape reality for a just a bit and totally focus on family. This is a truly special vacation for us because when we return, we have less than two weeks to finish packing and move into our new home. My goal before we move is to get completely caught up on SugarChic's blog with orders I've done in the past month. Please stick with me as we transition. I know someday I will be keeping up with my blog on a regular basis! :)

These were for a first communion for my friend, Amy's daughter. Green is her favorite color.

C for Corrine!

Another first communion (forgot to take a shot of the crosses) for my friend, Christine's son.

C is for Carson!

Thank you!

Off to the beach, but more to come!

Tangled

2011-05-26T23:16:00.001-04:00

So I was a little freaked out when Theresa asked me to do Tangled cookies for her daughter's birthday. I went to straight to my cookie idol, Sugarbelle, of course. (Thanks for the inspiration, Callye!) Theresa wanted a soft pink and lavender palette to go with her decor.

Rapunzel's tower and her cute little buddy.

Look closely and you will see pink and

lavender flowers on the vine!

This is also where I tied in the colors.

I wish I had a pic of the whole platter.

Thank you to Theresa!

Please check out Theresa's FB page!

Tiffany Blue

2011-05-26T22:49:00.000-04:00

Jennifer used to work with my husband and tracked me down to do some cookies for a bridal shower. I LOVED doing these colors. She asked for tiffany blue and black. Such a nice change from the usual. We settled on hearts, champagne flutes, and rings.

Thanks, Jennifer!

Buttercream Bugs

2011-05-19T16:26:00.002-04:00

Christine is a dear friend, awesome photographer (check out her Captured by Christine FB page here), and terrific party thrower. This is just a fraction of her talent! Seriously.

She asked for ladybug cupcakes in traditional ladybug colors and style. Her daughter, Ellie, turned 8! I wish I had pictures of the actual party to share. It was the cutest thing!

These photos were taken by Christine. After I received these, I couldn't even bear to post my own! Anyway, enjoy the ladybug-ness.

Thank you, Christine!

Happy 8th, Ellie!!!

MIA

2011-05-19T07:39:00.001-04:00

It's been almost a month since I've posted and while I've been baking and taking orders, I've also been involved in LOTS of other "stuff" that just kept me from posting regularly ...or at all...sniff. I have so much to share and I promise I will get there!!!

My family will be moving very soon. We found a new house in a neighboring town that is about 7-8 minutes away from where I live now. So to all my current customers...I won't be far! To my new customers...I'm coming! Ha!

This move is something we knew would eventually happen, but we really had no idea when. We didn't even think it would happen this year! Once the ball got rolling, WOW! It rolled FAST! So we were suddenly moved from a slow-never-thought-it-would-happen mindset to a get-off-your-booty- and- PACK frenzy!!!

We found the perfect house for our family in the neighborhood of our dreams. My new kitchen will not only accommodate SugarChic, but it exceeds what I was hoping for!! It's funny how things work out after you stress, cry, get mad and finally just resolve to give up control over something.

So happy is what we are, but busy is right up there with happy! We have 8 years of a house to pack. We brought 2 kids into the world here so I have lots of emotions tied into everything I do and pack. I had strep throat last week which threw a wrench into a weekend that was sunny and had so much potential for packing (and blogging). We also go on vacation right in the middle of now and our move. (I don't think that is any accident though. I believe we'll enjoy it even more!) I have lots of baking ahead of me this weekend, but I plan to update my blog with some the orders I have on deck (starting with the ladybug cupcakes, Christine). :)

Thanks for your support and understanding! Once we're settled, I have so many plans for SugarChic. Keep checking on me!

Back to baking...

Tennis Anyone?

2011-04-22T23:11:00.000-04:00

Another teaching friend, Lakeshia, contacted me from Tennessee to make some cookies for her old neighbors here in Ohio...right down the street, actually. Sweet girl, huh?

The neighbors are into tennis so she asked for tennis balls.

I added the sugar to resemble the "fuzziness"

on a tennis ball. I love the simplicity of these!

Thank you, Lakeshia!

Remember our days of making s'mores in our classroom

and eating them like they were water?? Sharing baking

tips and recipes? Those were fun days!

Miss you!

Teeny Weeny Onesies!

2011-04-22T23:03:00.001-04:00

I met Joanne at a craft show that I did in the fall. She was able to sample my cookies and then contacted me months later when she was in need of some sweet favors for her daughter's baby shower.

We decided on onesies in sage and baby blue. Who doesn't love a onesie?

Especially a polka dotted onesie!

Wrapped and ready for the guests!

Thank you, Joanne.

Best wishes!!!

More Potter!

2011-04-22T22:52:00.000-04:00

Erin ordered cookies for her son, Ryder's, birthday.

More Harry...this was my third Potter order. I owe my thanks to Bridget from Bakeat350. Her tutorial for Harry Potter cookies helped me so much!

Thanks again, Erin!
