Android Apps Coming To Windows 11

So Microsoft has officially unveiled the Windows 11 operating system. The newest

Intel to use its Intel Bridge technology to make this a reality. This seems like

an obvious answer to Apple’s progress with its M1 chips and running iOS apps on macOS.

It was made possible thanks to the new Macs switching to an ARM-based M1 processor — while

Microsoft has done a lot of groundwork to integrate Linux into Windows to make it happen.

But there's a catch here. Microsoft says that the Android apps will be available through the Amazon

App store which means you could only download apps that are available in the Amazon App store.

It's a shame because the number of apps available through Amazon’s App Store

pales in comparison to the number available through Google’s Play Store. So disappointed to

see a lack of Google Play integration but hey, maybe they tried a partnership but Google did

not want to participate? That sounds like a very plausible scenario given how Google is operating

lately. I mean one of the big reasons Windows Phone failed is due to Google reducing to make

any apps for Microsoft and got any 3rd party app removed from the Windows Phone Store.

But on the other hand, it's totally understandable why Google wouldn't

let Microsoft use the play store on windows 11. You see Google also has its own OS aspirations,

Google adding Play Store to Chrome OS made a big difference in terms of app and particularly game

availability on Chrome OS, so likely they don’t want to help a competitor by adding

Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 11 operating system will require a heretofore little-known PC security feature, the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), which is cause for concern among early adopters who can’t wait to get their hands on the new OS.

“Do I have a TPM that works with Windows?” is a question you probably never thought you’d need to ask. But the good news for people who have a PC bought in the last few years is that the answer is almost certainly “Yes.” For everyone else looking to upgrade to Windows 11, especially people who built or upgraded their own Windows desktop, the answer could be more complicated.

Let’s take a look at what TPMs do and how Microsoft is incorporating them into the next version of Windows, based on what we know so far.

What Is a TPM?

At its most basic, the TPM is a tiny chip on your computer’s motherboard, sometimes separate from the main CPU and memory. The chip is akin to the keypad you use to disable your home security alarm every time you walk in the door, or the authenticator app you use on your phone to log in to your bank account. In this scenario, turning on your computer is analogous to opening the front door of your home or entering your username and password into the login page. If you don’t key in a code within a short period of time, alarms will sound or you won’t be able to access your money.

Likewise, after you press the power button on a newer PC that uses full-disk encryption and a TPM, the tiny chip will supply a unique code called a cryptographic key. The company uses three different types of TPM 2.0 in modern Latitude, Precision, OptiPlex, and consumer laptops and desktops.

Can I Add a TPM to My PC?

If you built your own desktop PC in the last few years and you’re comfortable tinkering with hardware and software security settings in the system's BIOS, you can probably add a discrete TPM 2.0 chip to your motherboard. Many motherboards come with a cluster of header pins clearly labeled “TPM.” And, as Extreme Tech notes, you can pick up a TPM module for some motherboard models for less than 2000/-.

But it’s not as simple as buying a TPM 2.0 add-on module and plugging it into the header. Even if you’ve got a hardware TPM installed in your home-built computer, you’ll need to ensure that it’s properly set up in the BIOS for the Windows operating system to recognize it. This process varies widely based on which motherboard and CPU you're using. Even Microsoft acknowledges that turning on TPM isn't necessarily a straightforward process. Microsoft VP of Product Management Steve Dispense suggests that it may be necessary to enable a setting like Platform Trust Technology (PTT) in the BIOS of Intel-based computers, or f TPM for AMD-based ones.

Will a TPM Limit Which Windows 11 Features I Can Use?

One of the many tricky parts of the TPM 2.0 requirement in Windows 11 is that Microsoft may take a page out of Apple’s playbook and introduce additional limitations related to TPM security in future Windows updates. For instance, Macs with the T2 chip have many capabilities that Apple computers without it do not, including fingerprint recognition and enhanced image signal processing. With Windows 11 and future TPM versions, Microsoft could further segment the Windows experience. Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more

Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 11 operating system has leaked online today. After screenshots were first published at Chinese site Baidu, the entire Windows 11 OS has appeared online, complete with a new user interface, Start menu, and lots more.

The new Windows 11 user interface and Start menu look very similar to what was originally found in Windows 10X. Microsoft had been simplifying Windows for dual-screen devices, before canceling this project in favor of Windows 11. Visually, the biggest changes you’ll notice can be found along the taskbar. Microsoft has centered the app icons here, cleaned up the tray area, and included a new Start button and menu.

This updated Start menu is a simplified version of what currently exists in Windows 10, without Live Tiles. It includes pinned apps, recent files, and the ability to quickly shut down or restart Windows 11 devices. It’s really a lot more simplified than what exists in Windows 10 today.

If you don’t want the app icons and Start menu centered, there’s an option to move them all back to the left-hand side. Coupled with the dark mode that’s also available, and Windows 11 starts to look like a more refined version of Windows 10 than something dramatically new.

You may have noticed a new icon in the Windows 11 taskbar, and it’s labeled Widgets in the operating system. Rumors have suggested Microsoft is bringing back Windows Widgets, and this early version appears to include some.

As this is clearly a very early version of Windows 11, the widgets aren’t loading fully in the OS, but they’re designed to slide out and provide quick access to news, weather, and other web content.

Ever since, analysts have kept a watchful eye on the number of hard disk drive (HDD) and SSD units sold, along with performance efficiency and the price per gigabyte of each drive type. SSDs offered significantly better performance than HDDs, but they cost far more per gigabyte.

Analysts’ graphs indicated that at some point there would be parity, if not a crossover point, at which time SSDs would perhaps kill off HDDs.

The current move from Serial ATA (SATA) to the NVM Express (NVMe) interface, which today enables 5 times the performance, only sweetens the SSD proposition.

Even though SDDs have continued to decline in price compared to previous years, many people still rely on magnetic hard drives as the cheaper storage solution. The producers of traditional HDDs know that they have to continue to deliver technological advances to make sure that SSDs will not make the HDD obsolete. There are significant differences in SSD versus HDD technologies. One of which is that SSDs decrease in life expectancy or storage every time the writing of data occurs on the chips, but the main reasons for using an HDD are price per terabyte and ease of data recovery in the event of a loss. WhatsApp and Instagram were hit on March 19 at 11 pm in India as users took to social media platforms to complain about the services being down.

Downdetector, which provides a real-time overview of issues and outages with all kinds of social media platforms said in a tweet that Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram were facing technical issues.

In India, the problem started at approximately 11 pm and there was not update about the outage from Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

In February end, people across the UK were experiencing similar issues as they were unable to connect to the social media platforms owned by Facebook.

Jio laptop could finally be coming. After years of speculation, the JioBook laptop is now being tipped to launch very soon with an affordable price tag. The key specs have been revealed by XDA alongside the design. JioBook launch in India is said to happen by May running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset and Android OS. The Jio laptop will have its own JioOS UI powering the system.

The rumor mill hints at JioBook laptop price starting at Rs 9,999. Jio laptop prices may differ for different models and storage options.

The Jio laptop will support 4G LTE connectivity with a 720p HD display.

Jio has partnered with China-based Bluebank Communication Technology to bring the affordable JioBook laptop to India.

Jio would like to replicate the success of JioPhone with the JioBook laptop. The low-cost Jio Phone helped millions of users to move 2G from feature phone to 4G. The Jio laptop news broke out first in 2018 when Qualcomm had said it was in talks with Reliance Jio to launch affordable laptops in India with cellular connectivity.
