How to sort coloumns or rows by color in excel 2003

Hi.. Friends....
After long time, i am going post an excel tip for
sorting by color. Yesterday when i was working on excel, i got this probelm. Actually this color sorting is available in excel 2007, but not in excel 2003. some times we have to submit different fields data which was completed by you but indicates by different colors. Then we need to sort by those colors. For that i got a small solution.
We have to give formula in first beside coloumn cell what we are going to sort out. Later copy that formula in remain that coloums cells.
Formula:
=colorindex(A1)
This colorindex command gives different index numbers to different colors, so by using those cnumbers we can sort out our data.

Right alt key is not working on combination alt + key

This is the common problem, we faced in keyboard shortcuts. I mean when we are using shortcuts with alt combination, it works with left alt key but there is no response from right alt key combination. We are all manage with alternative but Sometimes it ( right alt key) may get more importance or it must. At that times we have to activate that key...for that.
1) go to control panel

2) open regional languages settings

3) in that click on languages tab

4) click details (under text services and input languages)

Here the language could be anything but the keyboard option has to be US.

Then you can use right alt key properly...

How to disable dont send error on internet explorer and other programmes

Hi friends....i know this is the small and wellknown change on windows through given settings.... But i came to know recently thats why i am posting here now... Coming to this error... We oftenly face it when we are working, the programme gets any error, then it gives error report like don't send or send. Its not big problem..but when we are working on internet explorer safe sites, those are closed when you get that error. So, To remove that option ( error reporting option)
1. Go to my computer properties.
2. There you find advanced tab, in that you have to choose error reporting option.
3. In that you find two option which are one is notify error reporting or not
4. Then you have to select which is the better one for you, i mean the option is showing error or not..

HOW TO CREATE HIDDEN FOLDER

Hi friends, its really useful trick to store our stuff without using any software on our pc.

To create a hidden folder:

1.Create a normal folder.
2.Rename it as 0160 by pressing Alt key ( Alt+0160 ( this is code for space)).
3.Now you can get space as that folder name.
4.Then right click on the folder, go to properties.
5.click on 'change icon'.
6.Then choose empty folder icon type.
7.Then apply it.

Now hidden folder ready to use.

This is nothing, but some times it is useful.
To get start up folder:

Right click on start, then click on open.
Here you can find start up folder.

When we put any file in start up folder, it is opened or runned on system booting automatically... I mean a text file is stored in start up folder, then text file open when system turn on..

In windows xp system, on right click option we get send to option.

with this we can easily send files to compress / dvd or cd / usb drive / my documents etc

but here we didnt copy / move any file to specific folder with one right click.

For that :

goto run, type regedit to open registry editor.
then go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
then right click on that to create new key with name copy to
then you get a default value in right side window
then double click on default
here in value data field you have to give value data i.e, {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
then you get 'copy to ' on your right click
To get 'move to' same procedure but you have to change value data and name of key also given as move to..
value data is {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
then you get 'move to' on your right click

Generally we use softwares to maitain dairy on our pc..
But here by using notepad we get that possibility.
I mean we nead not use specific software for that.
To get personal dairy on your pc by using notepad:
You have to open a new notepad, name it on your choice.
Then open it, type .LOG (in capital letters only)
Then save it and close that.
now its ready to used as your dairy. When you open it you get time and date, then you can enter your memories at what time you experiienced..

it is a funny trick by using notepad...
you can cheat your friends by continuous typing of keyboard keys
lets start fun.
Type:

MsgBox "stop me..! if you can"
Set wshShell=wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

loop

in notepad and save as sat.vbs.
then open it.
may be you think it is not working, when you opened it.
but its working... now you cant type anything by using keyboard keys.

Note: To stop this, open task manager
go to processes
here you have to end process "wscript.exe "
then you can type....

HOW TO ENABLE REGISTRY EDITOR (REGEDIT)

Hi friends…. It is small but I think it is useful..

Some times we get an error “task manager is disabled by your administrator”.

To get back the task manager simply,

Go to start, Run, type gpedit.msc click ok

Then go to user configuration

Go to remove task manager

Double click the remove task manager option

Then you have to choose one option from not configure , enable and disable.

Sorry…. Recently I got a bank job that’s y some what time taken to reentry…

Today I want to share my views on “How to remove USB drive safely, When we

Get message like “the device “Generic Volume” cannot be stopped right now. Try

stopping the device again later”.

Actually we get this message when we didn’t close opened file which is opened from pen

drive or our system using any file from pen drive in background.

At that time, first of all we have to check is there any opened file. If it is, then close that.

Try again to remove pen drive.

Otherwise there is a program is running in background, at that time we have to kill

explore.exe process to remove pen drive manually.

To kill explorer.exe

Go to task manager ( to get task manager, type ctrl+alt+del or right click on task bar)

select explorer.exe and click on end task.

Now you can remove pen drive safely.

But here you have to do another important thing i.e., you have to start explorer.exe

process after remove pen drive.

For that, go to task manager, go to file menu

In that you have to choose new task (run…)

Type explorer.exe, click ok.

HOW TO KILL SMC.EXE PROCESS ON TASK MANAGER....

Here smc.exe process get more usage on task manager then your system get slower. To end that process there are solution whick are known.......

Step 1: Use Windows File Search Tool to Find smc.exe Path

Go to Start > Search > All Files or Folders.
In the "All or part of the the file name" section, type in "smc.exe " file name(s).
To get better results, select "Look in: Local Hard Drives" or "Look in: My Computer" and then click "Search" button.
When Windows finishes your search, hover over the "In Folder" of "smc.exe ", highlight the file and copy/paste the path into the address bar. Save the file's path on your clipboard because you'll need the file path to delete smc.exe in the following manual removal steps.

Step 2: Use Windows Task Manager to Remove smc.exe Processes

To open the Windows Task Manager, use the combination of CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
Click on the "Image Name" button to search for "smc.exe " process by name.
Select the "smc.exe " process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.

Step 3: Detect and Delete Other smc.exe Files

To open the Windows Command Prompt, go to Start > Run > cmd and then press the "OK" button.
Type in "dir /A name_of_the_folder" (for example, C:\Spyware-folder), which will display the folder's content even the hidden files.
To change directory, type in "cd name_of_the_folder".
Once you have the file you're looking for type in del "name_of_the_file".
To delete a file in folder, type in "del name_of_the_file".
To delete the entire folder, type in "rmdir /S name_of_the_folder".
Select the "smc.exe " process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.

iconarea_text=0x00000000 this will set the text colour to black

iconarea_text=0x00000000 this will set the text colour to white

save the file as "Desktop.ini"

then close the folder and go to Start-Run

type
Attrib +s "Your folder path and name"

Then go to your folder and check it out.

CREATE A CUSTOM FOLDER THAT CANT BE DELETED OR RENAMED

Here’s how to create a custom folder inMy Computer, one that can’t be deleted or renamed.

Step 1

In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID. Create a new key with a Globally Unique Identifier(GUID). The GUID is a 128-bit identifier that is usually generated by Windows. This can be a random number that is used to uniquely identify COM objects. Create a key using this random GUID: {FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCFABCD1DE12345}

Step 2

Set the value of the “(Default)” setting for this key to the name of the folder, say “My Personal Data”. Create a new sub-key under the main key and call it “DefaultIcon”. That is, create a key called: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCFABCD1DE12345}\DefaultIcon.Set the value of “(DefaultIcon)”to the filename and path of the icon file you want to use for the folder, for example, “C:\Topsec.ico”, without the quotes. If you don’t specify a path to an icon file, Windows will use its default folder icon
instead.

Step 3

Create another sub-key under the main key called “InprocServer32”, that is, create the key called HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCFABCD1DE12345}\InprocServer32.Set the “(default)” setting here to “shell32.dll”. Create another string value called ThreadingModel and set its value to “Apartment”. There’s one more: create another sub-key called HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCFABCD1DE12345}\Shell\Open My Folder\Command.Set the “(Default)” value here to the command that should be executed when the folder is clicked. In this case, it would be “explorer/root,c:\My Personal Data”.

Step 4

There’s more keys to be created: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-ABCD1DE12345}\ShellEx\PropertySheetHandlers\{FD4DF9EO-E3DE-11CE-BFCF-ABCD1DE12345} and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{FD4DF9E0-E3DE-11CE-BFCFABCD1DE12345}\ShellFolder. Under this key, create a new binary value called “Attributes” with the value “00 00 00 00”.

Step 5

To place the folder in My Computer, add the original key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\Namespace\
So the key value will be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\Namespace\{FD4DF9E0-
E3DE-11CE-BFCF-ABCD1DE12345}

Now go to My Computer, and you’ll see a new custom folder!

1.Log in to your dashboard--> layout- -> Edit HTML

2.Click on "Expand Widget Templates"
3.Scroll down to where you see </head> tag.
4.Now add below code before </head> tag.

5.Now replace the <body> tag with <body onload='setupZoom()'>
NOTE : If in your template already has <body onload="setupZoom()"> code instead <body> tag ,skip this step.
6.Now save your template.
You have already add zoom effect for images.But,to zoom image you have to use this new form :

You must replace 'Image link' with your real url of image.You can change Height,Weight,.....

USEFUL THINGS ABOUT WINDOWS XP

You've read the reviews and digested the key feature enhancements and operational changes. Now it's time to delve a bit deeper and uncover some of Windows XP's secrets.

1. It boasts how long it can stay up. Whereas previous versions of Windows were coy about how long they went between boots, XP is positively proud of its stamina. Go to the Command Prompt in the Accessories menu from the All Programs start button option, and then type 'systeminfo'. The computer will produce a lot of useful info, including the uptime. If you want to keep these, type 'systeminfo > info.txt'. This creates a file called info.txt you can look at later with Notepad. (Professional Edition only).

2. You can delete files immediately, without having them move to the Recycle Bin first. Go to the Start menu, select Run... and type 'gpedit.msc'; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it. Poking around in gpedit will reveal a great many interface and system options, but take care -- some may stop your computer behaving as you wish. (Professional Edition only).

3. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter 'rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That's it -- just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that's not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

5. For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of interesting new commands. These include 'eventcreate' and 'eventtriggers' for creating and watching system events, 'typeperf' for monitoring performance of various subsystems, and 'schtasks' for handling scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will give a list of options -- they're all far too baroque to go into here.

6. XP has IP version 6 support -- the next generation of IP. Unfortunately this is more than your ISP has, so you can only experiment with this on your LAN. Type 'ipv6 install' into Run... (it's OK, it won't ruin your existing network setup) and then 'ipv6 /?' at the command line to find out more. If you don't know what IPv6 is, don't worry and don't bother.

7. You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

8. XP will treat Zip files like folders, which is nice if you've got a fast machine. On slower machines, you can make XP leave zip files well alone by typing 'regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll' at the command line. If you change your mind later, you can put things back as they were by typing 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll'.

9. XP has ClearType -- Microsoft's anti-aliasing font display technology -- but doesn't have it enabled by default. It's well worth trying, especially if you were there for DOS and all those years of staring at a screen have given you the eyes of an astigmatic bat. To enable ClearType, right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Effects, select ClearType from the second drop-down menu and enable the selection. Expect best results on laptop displays. If you want to use ClearType on the Welcome login screen as well, set the registry entry HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop/FontSmoothingType to 2.

10. You can use Remote Assistance to help a friend who's using network address translation (NAT) on a home network, but not automatically. Get your pal to email you a Remote Assistance invitation and edit the file. Under the RCTICKET attribute will be a NAT IP address, like 192.168.1.10. Replace this with your chum's real IP address -- they can find this out by going to www.whatismyip.com -- and get them to make sure that they've got port 3389 open on their firewall and forwarded to the errant computer.

11. You can run a program as a different user without logging out and back in again. Right click the icon, select Run As... and enter the user name and password you want to use. This only applies for that run. The trick is particularly useful if you need to have administrative permissions to install a program, which many require. Note that you can have some fun by running programs multiple times on the same system as different users, but this can have unforeseen effects.

12. Windows XP can be very insistent about you checking for auto updates, registering a Passport, using Windows Messenger and so on. After a while, the nagging goes away, but if you feel you might slip the bonds of sanity before that point, run Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Advanced and create a DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with a value of 0.

13. You can start up without needing to enter a user name or password. Select Run... from the start menu and type 'control userpasswords2', which will open the user accounts application. On the Users tab, clear the box for Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer, and click on OK. An Automatically Log On dialog box will appear; enter the user name and password for the account you want to use.

14. Internet Explorer 6 will automatically delete temporary files, but only if you tell it to. Start the browser, select Tools / Internet Options... and Advanced, go down to the Security area and check the box to Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.

15. XP comes with a free Network Activity Light, just in case you can't see the LEDs twinkle on your network card. Right click on My Network Places on the desktop, then select Properties. Right click on the description for your LAN or dial-up connection, select Properties, then check the Show icon in notification area when connected box. You'll now see a tiny network icon on the right of your task bar that glimmers nicely during network traffic.

16. The Start Menu can be leisurely when it decides to appear, but you can speed things along by changing the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/MenuShowDelay from the default 400 to something a little snappier. Like 0.

17. You can rename loads of files at once in Windows Explorer. Highlight a set of files in a window, then right click on one and rename it. All the other files will be renamed to that name, with individual numbers in brackets to distinguish them. Also, in a folder you can arrange icons in alphabetised groups by View, Arrange Icon By... Show In Groups.

18. Windows Media Player will display the cover art for albums as it plays the tracks -- if it found the picture on the Internet when you copied the tracks from the CD. If it didn't, or if you have lots of pre-WMP music files, you can put your own copy of the cover art in the same directory as the tracks. Just call it folder.jpg and Windows Media Player will pick it up and display it.

19. Windows key + Break brings up the System Properties dialogue box; Windows key + D brings up the desktop; Windows key + Tab moves through the taskbar buttons.

20. The next release of Windows XP, codenamed Longhorn, is due out late next year or early 2003 and won't be much to write home about. The next big release is codenamed Blackcomb and will be out in 2003/2004.

- Visit Windows Update (XP Only)

- Look at the left hand pane and under Other Options click Personalize Windows Update.

- Now in the right hand pane check the box - Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also

- Below Choose which categories and updates to display on Windows Update - make sure you check all the boxes you want shown.

- Click Save Settings

- Now look in the left hand pane under See Also click Windows Update Catalog and choose what you're looking for. Choose either MS updates or drivers for hardware devices.

- Start the Wizard and off you go.

There are a TON of drivers there. I highly recommend you take a look at this page prior to downloading something from the web.

Save Your New Downloads

Since some people are still using modems and since MS is issuing patches right and left for XP wouldn't it be nice if after you downloaded all the updates you could save them? Well, you can and MS has provided a way for you to do it.

Here's How:

- Logon to Windows Update

- Choose Windows Update Catalogue (left hand pane)

- Choose Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems (right hand pane)

- Choose your version and language then Search

- Choose one the following:

- Critical Updates and Service Packs

- Service Packs and Recommended Downloads

- Multi-Language Features (0)

- Once chosen simply click on what you want to download and then back at the top click Review Download Basket

- You are taken to the next page where at the top you can specify where the downloads are to be saved.

- Click Download now.

Each patch will make a directory under the root of the folder you saved them to. Once finished you need to go to where you saved the file (s) to and then simply install all your patches.

Read-me's are available in each patch section so you know which one you are installing.

How to make file undetectable
Use binding ,this is simple binding.In this tutorial you will see how to bind two files together using WinRAR.This is useful if you are sending a file and you want it to extract and run straight away.For this tutorial I will be using a simple .exe file (command[1].exe) and game.exe file

Step 1:Get the files you want to bind.

Step 2:Highlight them both and add to archive.

Step 3:Change the name and select "Create SFX archive"

Step 4:Go to the "Advanced" tab at the top and click on "SFX options"

Step 5:In the "General" tab type in the name of the file you want to run after the extraction.

Step 6:Go to the "Modes" tab and select "Hide all"

Step 7:Go to the "Text and icon" tab and change the icon to something other than the WinRAR icon

Step 8:Click "OK" on the advanced window and "OK" in the main window and it will create the file.

Now when the user clicks on it extracts and automatically runs command[1].exe
This can be used in a variety of ways, you can experiment with the options to get different results.

It is hard to move or copy a file/s or folder/s to specific location. There is a option called "Send to" on context menu but it has some limitation. You can send content through it just few locations like.. My Documents, Floppy Disk etc. If You can add "Copy to" and "Move to" options on Right click(context menu) then it will increase your file/folder transfer facility. You can Copy and Move your content anywhere on your machine through Right click(context menu). I have described a registry trick following here.

Copy-paste following text in notepad and save it with .reg extension. Then just merge/run it. You will get 2 new options on your Right click(context menu).
