One of the great things about being a Chickfil-A Mom, is being challenged to come up with ideas and share opinions. Recently, I was challenged to come up with a way to upcycle my Chickfil-A salad bowl. My son and I thought that a great way to use the container, would be to transplant my Mother's Day plant that he had given me. It didn't take long and it was fun to spend time creating together. We poked a few holes through the bottom of the container. We glued the clear lid to the bottom in a couple of spots, to help keep it attached. We then transplanted my flower to the new flower container and that was it! Easy & a good way to keep waste to a minimum! You should give it a try. Of course, that means you should swing by Chickfil-A beforehand and order a delicious Chick-fil-A Spicy Southwest Salad; as if you needed a reason to eat this yumminess!

If you see a product on the store shelf or a commercial for a political candidate, chances are the final result came about based on the feedback offered in focus groups.

In the U.S., there are 75 million mothers, all of whom influence 85 percent of their household purchases. With all that buying power, it stands to reason that companies turn to marketing researchers to make sure that their products are meeting your needs and expectations. What's more, Atlanta is a hub for researchers due to the cross section of demographics represented in the population.

Registering to participate in focus groups is a painless process. One of the top companies conducting opinion research is Focus Pointe Global, a national company with a location in Atlanta. They have an interactive website for their panel members at www.focusgroup.com, where you can register and fill out your profile. Once that is done, you will almost immediately receive an email invitation to take a screener survey to see if you qualify for a particular research study. The studies are on a wide variety of topics, including baby products, social issues, taste tests, appliances, beverages, cell phones...just about anything you can think of. Participating in a focus group or product tests is a fun and easy way to earn some extra spending money - from $75 to $100 for only a couple of hours of your time.

Another way you can participate in marketing research is online or by phone. Focus Pointe Global conducts webcam focus groups, telephone interviews, online surveys, online communities, and a lot of other methods as well. They even have an online product review program, where you are sent a product to use (and keep!) and you write an objective review on the company's website.

My youngest son took part in the British Soccer Camp program this summer. He took the full day camp that started at 9 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m. and lasted 5 days. When we arrived on day 1, I could tell this was going to be a positive experience. Everything was organized and the check in process was painless.  Since we had preregistered, they had all the information needed. They passed out his t-shirt and soccer ball right away and we were ready to start. The kids were divided up into separate age brackets with an instructor. The days were filled with soccer skills training as well as fun. Each day had a different theme.  My son's favorite was crazy sock day.  My son enjoyed honing his skills and talking with this coaches from England. Honestly, I think he listened so well because he enjoyed listening to their accent.

Other parents were equally pleased. Some were returners and even recognized one of the coaches.

I wasn't sure how it would go, as this was the longest camp my son had been to. I  I had nothing to worry about. He got up and ready every morning and was excited to attend. The only negative experience we encountered was the heat. Camp took place during one of the hottest weeks we have had all year. This is in no way the fault of the program and they did a great job ensuring the kids were hydrated and didn't overheat. I was comfortable leaving my son in their capable care. My son is already talking about attending camp next summer!
