Transcription work is a passion. Why would one say this? It's because without PASSION in TRANSCRIPTION work, one could not persevere in this profession. It is very tedious, tiring, back-aching, hand-swelling, ear-irritating, and most of all eye-straining.

One would think, "Why am I still doing this job?" Others would say, "Why don't you find another job?" But by the definition of the term PASSION, it is intense emotion compelling feeling, enthusiasm, or desire for something. One doesn't stop, but even yearn to do more of the tedious, tiring, back-aching, hand-swelling, ear-irritating, and eye-straining job.

The benefit then one gets after that great sacrifice is a work of art, likened to the paintings of Picasso, Van Gogh, books of Steinbeck, Hugo, or even the Brazura of Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti.

For someone or somebody else, this might just be any thesis, research paper, medical note for insurance claim, legal requirement, but to a transcriptionist, submitting one's work of art is aroma, comfort, and 'mission accomplished'. It is this great love for work that one could sigh at the end of the day, sip that nth cup of coffee, and ready to put on a hearty grin.

Aside from having good listening skills, to be a good transcriptionist is to be efficient in your typing speed. There are a number of online typing tutorials and softwares to practice on. The very first software that I used was Mavis Beacon. It was so intimidating since a number of my batchmates in the MT Training were fast typists and I was definitely an average one. Some were slower than me, but the only thing I was eager and willing to do was PRACTICE.

Every morning, as I step inside the computer lab, I would start pressing the keyboard. At first, it really is very hard to memorize where to fix my fingers. Yeah, ASDF JKL; QWERTY UIOP....well, practice makes perfect they say and it is true.

Here are some softwares you might be able to grab on to if you are serious in being a home transcriptionist. Time and speed is of the essence here and the more words per minute, the less time to accomplish, the more pay you get - but don't forget your quality.
