kids' room

2011-05-28T15:07:00.000-05:00

Well I finally finished the kids' room today (just 2 weeks before baby Owen is to arrive). The only thing left to do is print and mat a picture of each of them for the frames above their beds. For now, just an empty frame hangs there. Hopefully it won't be too long after the baby arrives to get that done. I truly love how the room turned out. It is so light and cheery that it has become my favorite room in the house. It was also a lot of fun to design and a couple of the DIY projects turned out even cuter than I had imagined. Evie already loves her room so much. I hope sharing a room will create a strong bond between the two of them. Anyway, here are a few pictures...

Friday night I took my daughter (2.5 years old) and my nephew (18 months old) out for some pictures. Not only are these two kids really young and highly active, making it challenging by itself. I am a full 7 months pregnant, and it was 80 degrees and humid. It was so worth it to capture these precious shots though...

"When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

- When Harry Met Sally

These two seriously might be the cutest couple on earth. I toted my camera along to a beautiful vintage picnic in the woods. There were some sprinkles, and it was rather cold. But despite it all, these two knocked it out of the park for these pictures.

Libby - I am so happy that you have found Andrew and he is part of your life.

Andrew - Thank you for making my dear Libby happier than I have ever seen her.

Congratulations! I hope this baby waits long enough for me to be at your wedding!!

This is just part one of their shoot; part 2 will be posted shortly...

springtime | tulsa oklahoma photographer

2011-04-07T19:23:00.000-05:00

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.

Tonight, my daughter decided to "fix" her hair with almost every "clippy" we own and asked me to take a picture. Really?! You want to let mommy take a picture of you... SURE!!! I grabbed my camera, and we headed out to the backyard. We had a blast enjoying this beautiful springtime weather. I took a couple of pictures, but we mostly just played and sang songs. It hit me hard as a look back at these that almost all of her baby features have disappeared, and she's growing up way too fast for my liking. It makes me want to cherish every minute with her even more. I love you baby girl!

I got published! Can you beleive it?!?!? Someone actually liked my work enough to put it in a photography magazine! The name of the magazine is FOCUS. It's a Dutch magazine so I can't read any of it. I did have what they wrote about my picture translated. The article is about the benefits of using a 50mm lens (which is my all time favorite lens). I owe a huge thanks to Alysha for being such an awesome model! Here are the rest of the pictures from our shoot.

what's in a name?

2011-03-06T17:32:00.000-06:00

For whatever reason, naming our baby is hard for me... and my husband. There is a fine line between trying to come up with an original name and not totally dooming your child to grade school cruelty. For us it is especially hard. Our daughter's name was a cinch... we had it picked out before we even knew we were having a girl. We have never had a solid boy's name picked out. Our thoughts were just not as in-line when it came to discussing boys' names. After a short list of possibilities, we have finally decided on a name but I'm not revealing it yet... you have to guess! This is me at 27 weeks (just one week left in my second trimester). So what name do you think we picked?

My dear friends, Robert and Lauren, were visiting from Korea for Thanksgiving and we had a mini photo shoot while they were in town. 2011-01-07T16:22:00.000-06:00

This post is to let all of you know that I will not be taking any portrait sessions for 2011. This is something I have been thinking about for some time now, and I have finally made up my mind. We are expecting a new baby in June, and I want to take this time to enjoy my family and not miss those precious moments with my children because I am always working. I will continue to update the blog with personal photos/projects and will let all of you know when I start up again. This was a hard decision for me to make, but I know it is the right one.

Below is a composite of photos my friend, Chris O'Dell, took of me and my daughter at the end of summer. I love them so much and thought I would share with all of you.

All I can say is WOW she is so GORGEOUS! These are just a few of my favorites...

I got to meet up with another old high school friend last weekend. She brought her adorable family up to Tulsa so I could do some portraits for them. It was a gorgeous fall day and a quick, but wonderful session with this family. The kids were amazing and so stinkin' cute!

This beautiful family is near and dear to my heart. Momma watched my little girl while I worked during her first year and half of life. It was so much fun to see all the girls together again. This is one my last family sessions for the year, and it was pure joy! They are just precious, as you can see for yourself...

After the session, my daughter joined in on the fun!
