Internets Environmental Crises: Tech CEO Jason Calacanis Exposes Pollution of Another Sort

Waste is not a problem just facing our "physical" plane, and our natural environment - waste has become a crises of our "mental " plane and our artificial and manufactured environment.

Humans now confront an information overload driven by the explosion of mass media and the Internet. As the explosion has reached epic proportion, the quality of the information has deteriorated and infiltrated the mental landscape of the global audience. Waste has become not only the byproduct of the phenomena, but has actually become a business in its own right when companies such as those creating technologies driving "spam" into the in-box of our email system, and ultimately our minds.

Here is a presentation (and heated discussion with the audience) by Jason Calacanis, CEO of Maholo.com given at GNOMEDEX, on the subject of the Internet's "environmental crises," and the opportunities and challenges for change (including those within his own business).

Artivist Film Festival Inspires and Celebrates Social Change in Pictures

"ARTIVIST International Film Festival" opens on November 8th at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angels. The event marries film and social activism to create a groundbreaking forum profiling and inspiring social activists through the moving pictures medium. The festival highlight films, and awards projects and individuals, whose dedication is exemplary in the fields of Human Rights, Children's Advocacy, Environmental Preservation, and Animal Rights.

This year marks the fourth year of the event. In addition to Los Angeles, the festival will travel to Lisbon Portugal (Dec. 1- 2), and London, U.K (Dec. 8-9). This year, the festival awards Ted Danson, Alyssa Milano, Claes Nobel of the Nobel Prize Family, and the winning films of the Artivist Film Festival.

Past recipients include Joaquin Phoenix, Mathew McConoughey, Daryl Hannah, James Cromwell, Ed Begley Jr., Tippi Hedren and Mike Farrell. The event promises to spark the heart of the activist in all attendees.
