Semester Break! Yeahhhh!

2013-06-22T17:50:00.001+08:00

It has been agesssss since I last updated my blog! Huhuhu...
Guess that I am just to lazy to blog... hahaha...
Nevertheless, since it's a LONG semester break, I'll try to blog more often~ hehe...
Especially on the many new recipes which I have tried!
So, stay tuned! =P

P/S: Can't wait to spend a whole month in Kuching again!
Miss kolo mee and pork satay very much! Yummm yummm~

Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Kuching Sarawak

2012-09-09T23:22:00.002+08:00

I went to Kuching, Sarawak again this year!
And.. this time.. I got to see the orangutans!!! =)
They are at Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
The centre is about 45 mins drive from Kuching town.
The orangutans here are not caged. They live freely in the jungle! I have only seen caged ones in zoos~
So, this is my first time watching orangutans which are free to roam everywhere they like in the jungle!!! Actually, at first I'm kinda afraid that they will attack humans. But, they didn't of course! Hahaha... So, don't worry! They will not harm anyone! =)

This is the centre~

Price list for the ticket and the orangutan feeding time~

You can only see the orangutans during the feeding time! As during this time, they will be out to get food! =)

Different price for non-Malaysians

The ticket counter~

You need to buy your ticket before driving in to the centre. The ticket counter is just outside~ You can definitely see it when you arrive at the centre. =)

My ticket~ RM5.00 =)

Arrived at the main entrance to the jungle! There is a parking space near the entrance.

There is a public toilet here, don't worry~ haha.. Besides, you can also buy drinks here! =)

Walking in the jungle to meet the orangutans! =)

Me and dear! =)

Again! haha.. =)

Pictures of the families of orangutans~

Everybody is waiting for the orangutans~

We are asked to keep quiet while watching the orangutans as noises might scare them away.
So, sHhhHhhhhhHHhhhhh~~~ hahaha...
And... we are not allowed to feed them! Remember! =P

They are here!!!

The ranger will put some fruits on the platform and the orangutans will take their food there~
I saw them eating watermelon, papaya, pineapple, and coconut!
I think they love coconuts! This is because, I saw a orangutan trying to get some coconut from another orangutan...haha...it's so funny.. as if it is persuading the other to give him some of the coconut..haha...and at last, it still failed to get some of the coconut! Too bad... =P
It's amazing to watch how they eat the coconuts! They will peel the husks and then knock the coconut against the tree to break it! They are really smart! =)

Here are some friendly reminders to be taken note!

The orangutan is taking food from the ranger~

There is only one orangutan which came as near as this!!! huhu...

All the orangutans will go back to the jungle after they have eaten. Too bad.. I din't get to see Richie! The oldest orangutan there... he's huge! >.<
Nevertheless, I am happy to see some of the orangutans! and there is one..with a baby hanging on to her! It was so cute! =)

Think nature, Love Nature, Be with nature~ <3

Do come and see the orangutans yourself if you have a chance! =)
And enjoy the nature~ hehehe...

Twist of Luck Biscuits recipe~~~

2012-02-15T21:52:00.000+08:00

Twist of luck biscuits are one of my favourite biscuits!!!
So, I thought... maybe I should try making them myself since I got the recipe! hahaha...
This is the first time I'm making it...and it really tastes good! =)
The texture is not that hard like the ones I bought outside, the texture is softer and it's more like cookies.

Hence, here is the recipe! Do try making it! =)

Ingredients

A: 250g plain flour, 75g icing sugar, pinch of salt, 1/2 tsp of baking powder.
B: 75g vegetable shortening, 1 egg, 1 tbsp of water, just enough oil for deep-frying.
Garnishing: some icing sugar.

Method

1. Put all ingredients A into a mixing bowl, stir to mix well.
2. Add in vegetable shortening and rub lightly with fingers to combine together, by then mix in egg and water, knead lightly until forms dough, leave aside to rest for 20-25 minutes.
3. Place the dough on the table and roll it flat, cut into any desired length to form strips, bring both ends of one strip together and twist into a rope. Repeat this step until finished up all dough.
4. Deep-fry the twisted ropes in hot oil, medium heat until turns golden brown.
5. Remove and place on a piece of absorbent paper to cool down, sprinkle icing sugar on top to garnish.
6. Lastly, store them in air-tight container, DONE! =)

Here are my Twist of Luck Biscuits!

*It's really hard to roll them and fry them... as they break easily! So, becareful when you are rolling and frying them*

Hopefully I'll be lucky this whole year after making this biscuits! hahahahahaa... =P
So, happy trying! May u all be lucky too~~~ haha... =)

B: 2 eggs, 120 caster sugar, 2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening.
Coating: some sesame seeds, 1 bowl of water.

Method
1. Mix ingredients B lightly until well combined.
2. Then, gradually add in ingredients A, stir until become a dough.
3. Dish out and knead until smooth dough is formed.
4. Divide the dough into small portions, form it into balls.
5. Then, dip with some water and coat well with sesame seeds immediately.
6. Deep fry in hot oil at medium heat until golden brown and slightly cracked * the crack is like a smile, that is why it is called LAUGHING golden sesame balls! =) *

Big Bad Wolf Book fair!

2011-10-20T02:17:00.001+08:00

Big Bad Wolf Book fair is the biggest book fair which I have ever been to, in Malaysia! =)
It was held at South City Plaza last year~
This year, the book fair is held at MAEPS!!! really near to my university, UPM!
I was really excited when I got to know that "The Big bad Wolf" is BACK! hehehehe~~~

There are a lot of different kinds of books there~ ranging from novels, encyclopedia, cookery books, business books, computer books, books for Dummies, children's books, dictionary and many more!!!
Plus, I really think that the location for this year is really strategic!!! As there are plenty of car parks in Maeps and they also provide shuttle bus to bring people to the book fair from the car park! It's really convenient! =)

This the shuttle bus!

The Entrance to the book fair! =)

There were really a lot of people there!!! >.<

You can get your books stamped here!!! =)

Stamped! <3

Another design! I love this! =)

This book fair was held for more than 1 week! And... I have been there for THREE times!!! hahaha...
My boyfriend and I spent more than RM200 altogether during our THREE visits to Big Bad Wolf book fair!
I know... It's really CRAZY!
But, I cant stop myself from buying the books...... as they are really DARN CHEAP!!! There are books which cost only RM3, RM 5, RM 8, RM 10, ... and the most expensive ones are RM30! Cheap right? >.<
I know that if I don't buy now, I will not have the chance to get those books for such a CHEAP price anymore... at least... not until NEXT YEAR! for the Big Bad Wolf to be back!
So, who cares whether I have the time to read them or not... I just grab what I feel like reading! hahaha..
I have gotten myself some cookery books, classics novels, novels on vampires and ghost stories, * MY FAVOURITE! teee hee~ *!

Here are all my books! =)

My cookery books! on cakes and chocolate! YUMMY! =)

He looks like a kid when he's reading it! He was so amazed by the graphics! =)

My novels on vampires and ghost stories~ hehe...

My boyfriend's obsession! His POP-UP book!!!

30 days of ME~~~ < Day 14 >

2011-09-26T23:08:00.001+08:00

Day 14 – A movie that makes you cry.

It's time to continue my journey of 30 days of me! It has been quite awhile since I last updated my blog~ hehe...
So, I'll continue with day 14 now! A movie that makes me cry...
Frankly speaking, there are a lot of movies which make me cry...huhu... as... I can say that I'm quite an emotional person...in which, I'll cry easily whenever I come across anything situation which is very sad and touching...
I can say that... most cartoons movies made me cry...especially those which portrays moral values... and most cartoons movies portray moral values...like Toy Story, Lilo & Stitch, Monsters, Inc, Wall E, Cars and many more... so, it's not surprising to see me crying even when watching cartoons... * so embarrassing... huhu... *

However... if I were to ask to choose ONLY ONE movie which makes me cry... It will be "Hachiko"!
It is a story about a dog who waited for his deceased owner outside a train station for many years until the day he dies... A bronze statue of Hachiko was erected as a remembrance of Hachiko...
Hachiko is known for his LOYALTY... and I was really touched by that... I could not stop crying watching that movie... especially towards the end of the story...huhu... It was really sad watching Hachiko waiting everyday for his deceased master... This story also reminded me about my pet dog which passed away many years ago... I was sad for about 2 weeks... huhuhuhu... * I miss Wawa... =( *

This is a true story in Japan. Click HERE to read more about Hachiko...

This is the movie!

This is the bronze statue of Hachiko in Japan!

P/S : Do watch this movie! It's really meaningful... especially for pet lovers... Be prepared to cry your hearts out!!! =)

"Gai Dan Gou" recipe! (An improved one!)

2011-09-24T01:19:00.003+08:00

Previously, I have shared my "gai dan gou" recipe in my blog!
However, after baking this cake for quite a number of times, I have bettered my skills in baking this cake! hehehe... I have sort of altered the recipe a little bit... =)
So, here is the improved "gai dan gou" recipe!
Do give it a try! As the cake turned out to be fluffier and taste better~ =)

Ingredients:

6 large eggs
200g castor sugar
200g plain flour
1/2 tsp of baking powder

Method:

1) Beat the eggs and castor sugar with an electric mixer or a whisk for about 20 minutes.

* The batter will be kinda thick and creamy*

2) Then, add flour and baking powder into the batter and mix well.
3) Lastly, pour the batter into a baking pan and steam at high heat for about 25 minutes.

* To view the pictures of each step, refer to HERE, my previous post on this recipe! =) *

TAKE NOTE : Just lay an aluminum foil loosely above the cake, to ensure that there is enough space for the cake to raise.... This is really a very important point to remember! Or else, the cake will turn out not well... sometimes, the middle part is not cooked yet as there is no space for it to raise in the middle. So, just cover the cake loosely with an aluminum foil, just enough to prevent the water vapor from falling onto the cake.

Happy trying guys!!! =)
