Lessons learned:
People want to be happier. but we become unhappy a lot easier.
Babies are born happy and enjoy "innate pleasures," and it's all lies after that.
Happiness is attractive.

They copy "us." (everyone is getting fat/dieing out because they copy the US.)

Lessons learned:
Cows are the new bomb... don't you dare eat meat ;).
But seriously... Cow farts will kill us all!
1/2 of antibiotics in the U.S. are given to cows O.o (that's weird)
A Desire (fueled by advertising) and not a need fuels this health crisis!
DON'T EAT MEAT/JUNK FOOD, plants promote health and make you live longer!
10,000,000,000 (Yes billion) animals that we eat, are killed each year!
Food is just food if you make it yourself, don't over think it.
rethink what's healthy, organic is no longer organic.
Industrial food is killing us all. (it's not about health, it's about demand)

Lessons learned:
Appeal who you are talking to.
Don't meet people for personal connections, make connections to further a connective, collective tribe.

Lessons learned:
"Non professionals, people with passion"
Leading is the new ads space.
Tribes: leading and connecting people and ideas.
Connecting tribes make movements!
"The beatles did not make teenagers, they lead them!"
Don't be a sheep, life your head from the grass
Tell a story to people who want to hear it, connect a tribe who wants to be connected, lead a movement, and make change.
who are you upsetting? who are you connecting? who are you leading?

The janitor's job doesn't interact with people, although they listen in and can help
Kindness care and empathy make jobs worth while in a world of loneliness
The wise person knows when to ignore the rules and improvise
Loss of wisdom is the following of rules without thought

"Ask not if it is profitable but if it is right"
Re-moralize work
Teach ethics through celebrating moral people
Kids need to learn wisdom and character, respect yourself, peers, and teachers

Local storage devices are not a good way to keep files safe, reliable, or easy to access! All that comes with local storage devices are undependable, expensive backup hard drives that just sit there and look ugly. This is why I employ you to look for a few new-er options, such as the following.

- This is one of my favorite options out there, mainly because it is available in Mac, Windows, and Linux; so no matter "where you go" with this little application, it'll be an option. One of the requirements is gmail, so be sure to make an account at http://gmail.com before you download this program. Unfortunately you only get 2 gigs worth with this option.

http://www.filedropper.com/
- This is another online resource for file storage. I really like filedropper because you can upload unlimited amounts of data, just as long as they are in 5gig chunks (which in most cases is far enough excess). The only downside of this option, is the lack of a standalone desktop application.

how to burn an iso to dvd or cd.

An iso is usually the format used to store operating systems on, so, it's is very important to get from an unusable iso, to a functional cd or dvd that you can boot from. When you download an iso, such as ubuntu, or other misc things. I personally recommend this iso burner, after looking at 3 other burners, this was by far the easiest and fastest to burn.

After you download and install this free software, you simply right click your downloaded iso and click "copy iso to cd."

Windows xp is a very clean, fast working operating system. Vista is very shiny looking, which is nice if you want to waste your video card while your playing games half as well as you should be. of course you always have an option when it comes to getting and downgrading to xp.

For the following instructions, you'll need either:

A good downloading speed
and a DVD reader/burner

OR...

As you saw above, there are two ways to get xp.

Torrent it, then burn it to dvd
Buy it

Just click on what you want to do (choose your own fate!)

As was recommended, as came to be...

For all of those youngsters that haven't been tainted by the internet's true potential, consider the following, what I am about to say may be considered to be immoral by some, and a way of life for others.

For us poor people, unfortunately, we cannot afford every version of photoshop, and don't have the time to go out and buy some movie, we have to resort to downloading files called torrents on peer to peer networks (p2p.)

The most secure/largest/most user friendly torrents search out there would have to be TPB (www.thepiratebay.org) , which is great for every torrent out there!

TPB is useless without software to handle the torrentz, TPB recommends some sort of p2p client, and I cannot remember which one... but I recommend uTorrent, google it.

As for protection against the evil government, always trying to mess with our great fun, there is a little program called PeerGuardian (http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/)Which is a must have if you're paranoid, and don't wanna be caught!

How to access your router on xp or vista!

There are many reasons you may want to access your router, one being to set up a dns, or opening ports for hosting online game servers!

click start
click run
type cmd
click ok

(an command prompt should appear)

In the command prompt, type "ipconfig /all" (without quotes)
The output should look something like this: image
In the output look for "Default Gateway"
In the example image, the default gateway is 192.168.0.1
Copy and paste YOUR default gateway into a browser's address bar.
If you don't know what I mean by address bar, it looks something like this: image
Now simply enter your password for your router, if you don't know it, and don't remember changing it from the default, check here: http://www.routerpasswords.com/
If your router default password doesn't work, talk to the "techie" of the family! or aim me: gshortyn for more help!
Now if you're logged in, you should have full power over your router, and you should be able to access it at the default gateway under the same username and password at anytime

So, if you don't know about how the internet operates, it goes a lil' something like this...

First you visit a website, like when you go to www.google.com you are connecting to their server, through a domain name server, or dns. The dns lets you go from just a name (google.com) to connect to their server. In this way dns controls what servers you connect to, and the underliying speed behind it!

Now that you know what a dns is, the dns I suggest is opendns.com , it's free, fast, and secure!

Today I'll be telling everyone how to get their own must-have for self hosting! I can't believe how long I've lived without using this service!

Basically, I spent a couple days looking into how to host my own webserver, and this is what I came up with.

What you need a static IP, if have linux it's harder to configure (by ALOT) if you aren't wired into the network. On windows, the only, or main requirement is a static IP.

In either system (windows or linux) you must have the domain pointed at your static ip, or else it won't work, it took me a day to grasp this concept before my dad helped me out :) .

For a linux webserver I suggest an ubuntu LAMP server, for windows, I suggest XP.

The website I was talking about helps by pointing your domain to your ip, for free, along with the following:

There are a lot of options for picture and video editing out there. For anyone who doesn't have the money for photoshop, there are two options,

I thought it would never happen, a day and age when windows, the tyrant of all software manufactures would give out ******FREE******** software, but it's true. At first I was over-joyed at my chance to get my hands on vista and other software, then I thought... "there must be a catch," and that catch is: THEY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER FOR 3 MONTHS! Well, I decided I would participate anyways, but if you have something to hide, I don't suggest signing up.

A few weeks ago I posted a guide on how to install ubuntu, and if any of you have done that, or already have done that. If you have kept with linux for the few weeks and like it, and are ready for a new type of experience, it's time for your own linux web hosting (step by step!)

Download and burn the Ubuntu Server 6.10 i386 install CD.
Install Ubuntu Server

When asked about Software Installation, choose LAMP.
When the installation is finished, take out the CD (I flip it over and leave it in the drive for the next time I need it) and reboot.

Logon as the regular user that you created during setup.
Give root a password.
```
sudo passwd root
```
We're going to modify the file sources list to allow us access to all the required files. Uncomment the edgy universe, edgy-security main restricted, edgy-security universe, edgy multiverse, edgy-backports main restricted universe multiverse, and edgy-commercial main. In addition, Ubuntu leaves the install CD as one of the file sources after installation, so you'll need to remove the CD from the source list. Comment out the CD from the list and save.
```
sudo nano -w /etc/apt/sources.list
```
Update apt-get to use the new sources.
```
sudo apt-get update
```
Install OpenSSH server
```
sudo apt-get install openssh-server
```
Turn off the computer.
```
sudo shutdown -h now
```
Disconnect the monitor, keyboard, and set the computer wherever it's going to lurk for the next couple years.
Turn on the computer and wait about a minute for it to boot.
Using your preferred SSH client, connect to the machine. I prefer PuTTY for Windows.

Install Samba and SWAT.

sudo apt-get install samba smbfs swat xinetd

Create a Samba user.
```
sudo smbpasswd -a username
```

Add SWAT to the xinet configuration and save.

sudo nano -w /etc/xinetd.d/swat

# description: SAMBA SWAT
service swat
{
disable = no
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
#should use a more limited user here
user = root
wait = no
server = /usr/sbin/swat
}

Reload Xinetd with the new configuration.
```
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xinetd
```
Verify that SWAT is up and running. If you don't get any response, start Googling.
```
sudo netstat -tap | grep swat
```

Make the shared directory for TorrentFlux.

sudo mkdir /share
sudo mkdir /share/incoming
sudo chmod 777 /share/incoming/

Create the Samba share. Using a web browser, go to http://hostname:901/shares

path /share/incoming
valid users - username
read only - no
Commit Changes

Install phpMyAdmin
```
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
```
Connect to phpMyadmin using a web browser - http://hostname/phpmyadmin

Secure MySQL / phpMyAdmin

login: root (no pass)
Privileges

Add a password to both root accounts

Create a database for TorrentFlux

Databases - Create New - torrentflux

Install TorrentFlux
```
sudo apt-get install torrentflux
```

Ignore the libphp-adodb message.
Configure database for torrentflux with dbconfig-common? - yes
Password - blank (generates random)
Restart Apache? - Yes

Configure TorrentFlux using a web browser - http://hostname/torrentflux/

Username / Password - root / root
Configuration

Path - /share/incoming/
Save

Click My Profile

Update your password

Create a user account

Admin - New User

Remove the Apache default documents from web root.
```
sudo rm -Rf /var/www/apache2-default/
```
Create a basic web launchpad for easy access your services.

sudo nano -w /var/www/index.php
