<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_UuXvlTIIANM/SGJfiYNW0rI/AAAAAAAAADk/QXxqKIAgXtc/s400/ChrisTomlin_HelloLove.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5215836362667119282" />

According to EMI CMG, the single is the most added multi-format song in christian radio history.

Chris himself says of the new single and CD:

We need to introduce ourselves to love again.

With each new record, I continue to strive to create songs that will help people voice their worship to God. I hold this as a great responsibility when I begin to think about what the overall recording will look like. Worship is a massive word with a very broad scope, but in the end, it is very simple. It is love! It's our response in love to our great God who loved us first. As well, it's our love for others.

Hopefully these songs will renew in some way or stir up again your love for God and His people.

It¹s pretty exciting these days to see the Church awaken to the portion of it¹s calling where it serves the "least of these," where we carry those less fortunate than ourselves not just in a special place in our hearts, but in our finances, our energy, our life. And the motive and heart behind all of it is love. That's it. More simply put, worship is "love with legs." It's on the move! It's not just words and melody.

As Paul says so well in 1 Cor. 13:13

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Chris Tomlin

Some industry buzz about it:

“Chris Tomlin strikes gold again in his beautiful ballad ‘Jesus Messiah.’ Chris seems unable to pen a bad or even mediocre song. It is simply always spectacular.” –Jon Rivers, music director KLOVE Radio Network

“Chris never disappoints. ‘Jesus Messiah’ is another example of his deep songs that are easy to sing and still keep the focus on the One who deserves the glory.” –Jim Beeler, music director, KSBJ-FM

“I knew Chris Tomlin’s new song, ‘Jesus Messiah’ was going to be an ‘add,’ but I’ve run out of superlatives. It surpassed all our expectations; wow!” –Scott Valentine, program director, KCMS-FM

“Tomlin does it again! It’s honest. It’s sincere. It connects. It’s worship not just for Sundays, but for life lived every day. It’s here, and will be for years to come!” –Chris Lemke, GM/PD WCSG-FM

“I am not sure how Chris keeps doing it, but once again we have a song that is going to be huge! This one is easily on the short list for song of the year already.” –Jeff Cruz, assistant program director, WPOZ-FM

Grant Hubbard, vice president of national promotion for EMI CMG Label Group adds, “Chris Tomlin has once again delivered a song that hits the bull’s eye of radio’s target. 97 out-of-the-box adds shows the belief and trust that radio has for Chris.”

President and CEO of EMI CMG, Bill Hearn also comments, “Chris Tomlin’s songs continue to have a profound effect on culture through the church worldwide and radio’s overwhelming response to ‘Jesus Messiah’ is a powerful indication that this new song will also have tremendous impact. All of us at EMI CMG and sixstepsrecords are honored to play a role in this history making event and look forward to what we believe will be one of the biggest albums of the year in all of music.”

If this preview of the new album "To Know That You're Alive" is any indication, it should be a great CD. I really liked Strong Tower - even though ChristianMusicToday.com gave it only 1 star out of 5 I personally enjoy this CD. I prefer rock sounds to my Christian Praise and the Strong Tower CD delivers. Maybe compared with their first two releases, Kutless and Sea of Faces, you might find Strong Tower a bit tamer, but that is probably because it is A WORSHIP ALBUM!

Back to the new CD: CCM Magazine has a short interview with the band "In The Studio with Kutless - Going behind the scenes to get you ahead of the curve…"

THE MUSIC: Much more intricate for sure. Musically, it’s the best we’ve ever done. Some of the songs are the hardest hitting since our first self-titled album, but the Kutless variety is still there; we’ve got a couple of ballads for sure. –Jon Micah Sumrall

It is a great church! Since going there, my wife and I have become involved in the praise choir. This past Sunday we took it up a notch and played electric guitar and electric bass - everyone who spoke with us afterwards thought it was great! We played "Come, Now Is The Time To Worship" by Brian Doerksen.
You probably are aware that the new Tree63 CD entitled Sunday! is out. Have you heard it yet? If not, head over to ChristianMusicToday.com and check the review.

They give it 4 1/2 stars out of a possible 5 and in a nutshell describe it as
"A top-notch, outstanding effort".

They don't stop there, saying also that Sunday!
"brings them back to their roots, even reuniting the South African band with original drummer Darryl Swart. Apparently he was key to their sound—Sunday! is the best album by Tree63 since their 2000 debut, if not their best yet."

Cool!
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_UuXvlTIIANM/Rv1XNKBrqGI/AAAAAAAAAB4/Gxcq5iJk9bg/s400/tree63JohnEllisGuitar.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5115340635304077410" />
Another great review comes from Kevan Breitinger who says
"South African rockers Tree63 may be celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, but if fifth album "Sunday!" is any indication, they may have just hit their stride."

and

"Frontman John Ellis has long strained against the constraints of the ‘Christian music’ label, but the new project positively oozes freedom. In fact, the first several tracks brought back some of the trappings of the free love-psychedelic era to mind, minus the pharmaceuticals, of course."

Here I am again to say that they have a new CD coming out soon, entitled Sunday! Inpop has some samples online for you to hear ... go and hear them!

You can also buy the single on iTunes!

I've listened to the first single quite a bit, and I enjoy it. The new album will be out on the 25th of September. Watch christianMusicToday.com for a review.

They were great! They had played a few months ago in the 3 Sunday services and blew everyone away, so they had a lot to live up to, and they did!

They played a few songs from their new cd - Whatever Befall, which just came out this month. You can check out a few new tunes from it on their myspace page.

Their home page isn't updated for the new CD yet, other than to say it is out (in the news section) but I suspect it will be updated soon enough. The important thing is that they sound great on their new CD. After seeing them live a few months about and buying their CD, I was disappointed that the CD had drums, bass, etc. They had played with just acoustic guitars, piano, very sparse percussion, and of course their amazing harmonies. The "full band" sound on the CD was unexpected.

Last night they once again played with just piano, acoustic guitar, and even sparser percussion, and let their voices ring out loud and clear. Their harmonies are beautiful.

The new CD is once again a "full band" style, but their harmonies and voices are mixed better and it just sounds better. I like the new CD alot.

I think you will too! Enjoy!

Long time, no blog. Oh - I've meant to and wanted to, I just haven't. So sue me!

I started going to a new church in January of this year. It is great - Bethany Church in Greenland, NH. Check it out some time! I am getting psyched to go see the Passion Road there, which starts Thursday. You should really go!

I auditioned for the praise band there and am currently practicing with them, working towards playing during worship later this spring or summer.

Jeremy Camp - Live Unplugged was released yesterday (and do you think the local stores had it in stock? grrrr - why do I have to order every Christian CD I want on line? this is a whole issue I'll go into some day, but it has nothing to do with Jeremy, so sorry ... ) ...

Here is the official blurb:

"Live Unplugged" is an intimate look at the songs and ministry of Jeremy Camp. Filmed and recorded in Franklin, TN in early summer, "Live Unplugged" features stripped down acoustic versions of all of Jeremy's hit songs - Walk By Faith, Understand, Take You Back, Empty Me, I Still Believe, This Man and more.

In addition to the album, Live Unplugged comes with a full length concert DVD, full of the background stories and inspirations of Jeremy's music.

Here is the track listing:

1. Understand
2. Right Here
3. Take You Back
4. Stay
6. Walk By Faith
7. Empty Me
8. Restored
9. My Desire
10. I Still Believe
11. Beautiful One
12. This Man

This is very sad, there is so much wealth in this country, and so much poverty elsewhere. Why, just a few weeks ago, one person won something like 340 million dollars in the lottery. And so much more was actually raised since only a portion of the proceeds goes to the jackpot. And everyone who played basically wasted their money. What if there was a way to spend only a little money, but have it actually do something helpful in this world?

from the email:

Help feed 10 African children for just $20 ...
and we'll send you the WOW Christmas CD!

So ... now not only can you help do something positive, but you even get rewarded for doing so!

The email goes on:

A drastic food shortage threatens the lives of more than 15 million people in sub-Saharan Africa, over a third of them small children.

World Vision, the Christian relief and development organization, has partnered with Word Records to offer the new WOW Christmas double CD set AT NO ADDITIONAL COST to anyone who gives a gift of $20 or more.
Thanks to grants from the U.S. government, your gift will more than double in impact to help provide food to children and families in sub-Saharan Africa! The need is urgent, so please respond now!

So go ahead and help!

World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. Motivated by our faith in Jesus, we serve the poor — regardless of a person's religion, race, ethnicity, or gender — as a demonstration of God's unconditional love for all people.

Last year 87% of World Vision's total revenue went to programs that benefit children, families, and communities in need.

Federal tax law requirements indicate that your charitable contribution deduction is restricted to the excess of the amount you contribute over the fair value of WOW Christmas double CD, which we in good faith estimate to be $18.

As the Civic Center was filling up and people were finding their seats, local radio station WMSJ (a Christian Station from Portland ME) began by offering up a prayer of thankfulness and praise to God.

Soon the sound system began to ease in some ambient rock that transitioned into more driving rock and the video display came to life. A video sequence with voice over evoked thoughts of a call and response, previewing the night’s themes of praising God, proclaiming His greatness, love, power, and grandeur. This seamlessly segued into “Forever”. This highly charged version electrified the crowd and they were on their feet immediately.

Greetings followed. Chris seemed natural at communicating with the crowd and you can tell how much he enjoys sharing and telling stories and leading worship. After introducing their first headlining tour, and reminding us that it is all about the Lord, the band played “Holy Is The Lord” – to the great pleasure of the crowd.

“Famous One” followed and you could tell that this was going to be a special night. The sound system was excellent, loud but not too loud, crisp, with each instrument clear and the musicianship exceptional. The crowd was enthusiastically dancing and singing and praising.

Next, Chris introduced his special guests: Matt Redman and Louie Giglio. These friends have all performed and collaborated together for years, on lyrics and songwriting and also at the hugely successful Passion conferences.

Matt wasted no time pleasing the crowd himself with an excellent “Let Everything That Has Breath” – backed up by Daniel, Jesse, and Travis. “Dancing Generation” was next, followed by a very passionate “Once Again” and “Heart Of Worship” – which was probably the best of the set by Matt.

We then got a treat – Matt introduced a new song (“Never Let Go”) that was great. He followed this by going straight into “Blessed Be Your Name” with Chris coming back on stage.

Chris then re-introduced Louie Giglio and he lead us through an amazing adventure into the heavenly creations of God. In an excellent presentation filled with the wonders of astronomy, Louie taught us just how big, how powerful, how amazing God is. The universe is so big, much bigger than man could possibly use or need or comprehend, and helped us understand this is exactly right for proclaiming the majesty of God. God is so great and loving that even though there are more magnificent unexplainable, unknown, and unbelievably beautiful things than we can comprehend or know about, even though he knows every single star by name, that he also knows every single person that ever was, ever is, and ever will be by name. He even came here and died just so we could be with him forever. The reaction of the audience was amazing, it was so humbling and awe inspiring. It concluded with a powerful image of how God, the maker of all the celestial beauty, came to earth as Jesus and died on the cross for us, and then showed an incredible image of a cross at the very center of probably the most impressive looking galaxy known.

At that point Chris and Matt and the band came on stage and went directly into “Wondrous Cross” – connecting the preceding segment so well with more music and praise - the crowd was very moved.

Get this… the show was only half over. Louie encouraged us to pray, or study the verses that would be on the screen or enjoy fellowship and rest while they all took a short 10-minute break. Wow. At this point, you could realize how full the place was. I’d say 5000 people was a very safe estimate, the floor was full and each of the side sections was full nearly to the ceiling – only the back section seemed less full.

The second set started with Chris again reminding us of the greatness of God and of our evening’s purpose of praising Him. He then introduced himself, and after story of how he grew up and learned guitar from his dad when he was in 4th grade, played for us the first song he learned, “On The Road Again” with the band joining in. He then introduced each band member, each also with a song. Jesse’s song was Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean” – which has a very distinctive bass line. Travis came down from the drum kit to sing the opening lines of Garth Brook’s “Friends in Low Places” – to great audience approval. And Daniel tore into a rowdy “Sweet Home Alabama” after being introduced as the youngest in the band, joining when he was still a senior in high school.

Next, for me was probably the best song of the evening, an amazing version of “On Our Side”. This led directly into “The Way I Was Made”.

The most unfamiliar song to me was next – “Unchanging” – though it was received well by the crowd. “Enough” was a huge sing-along, with Chris changing to piano part way through. He is really good on piano.

Another of my favorites of the night followed - an amazing version of “Indescribable”. It was so different than the album, with a solo piano beginning. This song tied in with the opening video sequence and with Louie’s talk so well. Part way through the band kicked the song into high gear – the arrangement was an excellent update to this already great song.

Following this was another of my favorites of the night "Your Grace Is Enough".

Chris then related a story about how almost 10 years ago, after hearing another Louis Giglio talk, he wrote “We Fall Down”. He remained on the piano for this.

Next, Chris again thanked us for an amazing send-off on their very first tour. It seems incredible that they haven’t been headlining for years, the band and performance was so polished and they relate to the audience so well. You could tell he was truly humbled by the response we all were giving. He had lead us through much more than a concert though, it was so much more – definitely a worship service, full of teaching, prayer, praise and honor to God.

He then broke into a very moving “How Great Is Our God” which ended with him leading us into “How Great Thou Art”. The band left the stage and the whole crowd kept singing until the song was done.
What an amazing night of music, fellowship, praise and worship to God.

Thank you Chris, Matt, Louie, Daniel, Jesse, Travis and crew for an incredible evening of worship.
