Switching to Wordpress

2011-12-29T14:54:00.001-05:00

Well guys; it's finally happening. After contemplating for a while asking myself if I should switch to Wordpress I finally have.

You can find our new blog here.

Why have I switched? Well there are a few different reasons:

1) Wordpress seems to give me a wider range of control over my Widgets and how I use them
2) They have better features for sharing posts via Twitter and Facebook
3) They allow people to (essentially) favorite my posts, or my blog itself
4) There are more users on Wordpress, allowing for more followers, and more comments
5) I have more customization tools and stats viewing tools in Wordpress

I hope that this doesn't cause any problems with everybody, but I will not be posting on this blog anymore.

Make sure to find us on http://tenfoxproductions.wordpress.com/ !

I am sad to see Blogger go, as it was the first place that TenFox was ever present, but we have to move on.

This site will continue to be alive, for as long as I can allow it (which I think is until the internet goes away).

Deviant of the Day

2011-12-29T08:29:00.001-05:00

I have been browsing DeviantArt a lot lately. I wanted to feature an artist of mine that I have fallen in love with (not literally, but their art is amazing).

Their Handle is dholl and their gallery can be found here.

Need Novel Help

2011-12-28T21:01:00.000-05:00

I am struggling with some writer's block on my novel I want to write. I can't figure out why my character is doing what he is going to do.

I am looking for some insight from anybody on this fact. If you are a member of the Writing Forums you can find my thread about it all here; otherwise I am going to kind of copy-paste what I posted there.

This may sound odd, but I have outlined nearly the entirety of a story I am working on. My only problem: I still don't know who or what my antagonist is going to be. I was hoping to brainstorm some ideas with everybody here to see if we could come up with an interesting idea. I have run through a bunch of different ideas that I thought didn't go well with my story. Sorry for the length of this post (tl;dr version below).

I'm going to try to give you all a few ideas to what exactly is going on in my story:
My main character was living a happy, simple life in a small village with his family and love interest when a mysterious creature came to his village to destroy it. The village burned down and while it happened the main character ran into the creature. He creature spoke to him, already knowing the main characters name and it is implied that the only reason he is at the village is to find the main character.

The main character panics, and a voice inside his head speaks to him telling him that it's not his time to die. He lost control of his body and grabbed the neck of the creature. Black streams of energy under his skin start to squirm up his arm from the center of the body and eventually reach his arm were they start to rip and tear at his skin until they finally burst through his skin and dug themselves into the neck of the creature, slowing draining it's life force into my main characters body.

He is stunned and unaware of what has happened. What we later find out is that his newfound "power" or "curse" gives him different magical powers but at the cost of the only way to gain power is to absorb souls. The plot that I am going with is a Plot of the Mind. My character is conflicted for many reasons; first off, in the back of his mind he is still unaware of what happened to his family and love interest (if they are dead or not), but more importantly is the conflict going on within his body and mind. There is a voice in his mind that is linked to his new power; this voice is telling him to kill and trying to control his body. This is against his morals, but he is starting to realize that it might be the only way for him to become stronger.

Some ideas that I have thought about doing:
-There is an ultimate (nearly god like) being that is controlling the events that happen in the world around my main character. The only reason that he has his powers is because this being wanted him to; the being's ultimate goal was to end up controlling my main character because the power ends up corrupting him. It doesn't work out the way the being plans, and my main character ends up turning against the being. (PS: The being is trying to save the world)
-My main character embraces the fact that he gains stronger by killing and absorbing souls and finds a way to do such that is "less" against his morals. He becomes a "hitman" under apprenticeship to a hitman that he runs into in his travels. He gains strength until a hit goes wrong and he is kidnapped and nearly killed. There was an ambush. I'm not sure why still.

Now the questions that need to be answered:
Where did his power come from?
What does he have to defeat?
What is the main character's goal?
Do you see a potential for this story that I am looking over?
What/Who is the antagonist?

tl;dr version:
Create a bad guy.

Thank you ahead of time for any ideas or input you have to help me out.

Will you be drunk for the new year?

2011-12-28T10:01:00.001-05:00

I would encourage you to keep this in mind:

Don’t drink and drive-and don’t ride with anybody who does. Tipsy Tow offered by AAA: you don’t have to be a AAA member, from 6pm-6am on New Years Eve/Day, they will take your drunk self and your car home for FREE. Save this number 1-800-222-4357.

So if you are planning to drink for new years, keep a few things in mind. First off, you should never drink and drive, even if it's just a few drinks. Keep in mind that you aren't putting only yourself in danger, you are putting the safety of others on the line as well. Keep yourself safe, and keep others safe.
Make the smart choice this holiday season; if you need to go somewhere but you know you can't drive, call this number above. It costs you nothing, and it will make the roads safer for everybody.

Please reblog this. Let's spread the message.

Unmotivated

2011-12-26T14:19:00.004-05:00

Hello everybody,

I have been feeling unusually unmotivated as of late, and I'm not sure why. There is so much that I want to do, and so much I should be doing, but I don't really want to do anything.

I hate when this happens to me. I just need something to help me out in life, to get me on my feet again and tell me to stop being a lazy bum. There are a few project ideas that Neon and I have in mind that we really do want to come true, it all just comes down to money. Money sucks; it's kind of the root of all evil.

Money is, of course, a problem for most (if not all) college students. We want to be able to do other things and we want to be build and create, but we need money (we don't need much, even like $100 would be great). It's a problem we have to deal with until we finally graduate and (hopefully) find jobs.

As always, the project idea details I am going to keep to myself. Why? Mainly because I don't know if they are possible, and I don't want to cry out about more things and then never come through because we didn't have the funds to do so. Once we get something solid in place we will reveal things to you.

Maybe Kickstarter will be our new best friend. *fingers crossed*

Other than that, I am still working on writing my novel that I have planned out. I have run into sort of a road block as I can't figure out what the "problem" of my novel is. I know what happens, I know the world itself and my main character, I just can't come to a definite conclusion on who and what I want my antagonist to be. I will be working on that one for a while, but I will continue with the updates for you all as I move along with that. Just so you know, I just broke 5000 words the other day. It's not much, but it's a start.

Back to motivation; I would love to hear from anybody who reads this if they are working on any projects of their own or they know of any that they are following. I would love to read some things to help me build motivation for myself. Please feel free to comment below with any links and I will be sure to check them out.

Thanks!

Writing; My Newfound Love

2011-12-21T14:11:00.000-05:00

Hey guys!

So I haven't updated the blog in a few days, Christmas shopping has been keeping me busy. On top of that I have been working on developing an outline and beginning to develop an idea for a story that I want to write.

I have always wanted to write; it's been a dream of mine but I haven't been able to find a way to actually start developing what I am thinking about. I recently found the Writing Forums that have helped motivate me and put my ideas into words.

I have an outline, in a general sense of the word, and I have around 4000 words of my introduction started. I am loving this so far!

Writing a story is amazing! It's like if you were reading a book, but the book isn't set in stone. You get to watch and see the story develop in front of your eyes.

The Khaterra Wiki

2011-12-17T22:05:00.001-05:00

I actually put together a wiki page for Khaterra a while back so that once information started rolling we could put it into a simple interface so that people could read it all.

You can find the Wiki here.

I have decided that since the first idea hasn't been working out so far I'm wanting to put a team together to develop Khaterra instead. I am hoping to get as many people as we can together to start working on the Wiki spaces.

If you would like to start developing a world with me just let me know and we can get your registered as a member on my Wiki and just start designing however we feel.

I don't want to give up

2011-12-17T14:28:00.000-05:00

I don't know what to do to ask for more participation in Khaterra. Would you rather have a forum that we can use to discuss it? I am open to any and all ideas that we have.

I am sad that we have had a lack of participation, as we have people that view my blog daily, and I average at minimum 1000 views a day.

I would love for just 5 to 10 comments a week.

Anything really, you don't even have to post an idea, just a comment saying that you understand or don't understand what I am trying to do. You know?

It's sad to see an idea that you were excited about not gain any momentum.

The Darkest Midnight in December

2011-12-16T13:35:00.001-05:00

Autumn, Cassie, and I were sitting in our room late last night, having a jolly good time. We were singing some Christmas time songs and putting together some music for a performance at open mic we wanted to do.

All of a sudden, the power went out.

Darkness consumed the room, and then it came.
An idea of course. We decided to do an impromptu photo shoot, horror style. We have insane amounts of fun and I think it's the best photos we've ever taken.

I present to you: The Darkest Midnight in December on Deviantart

For a full gallery check this one out:

If you enjoy these pictures then make sure to check out my DeviantArt for all of the other photo shoots that we do.

Feel free to check out all the other galleries that are on my Picasa as well.

Khaterra Needs Your Help!

2011-12-14T22:23:00.002-05:00

Hey guys!

Khaterra really needs your help! Right now Khaterra is a blank slate of nothing, and without you it will stay that way. Why not help out!?

Don't know what Khaterra is? Let me tell you! Khaterra is a blank world, which is going to be built with participation from the community. Each week I will be posting a new assignment for everybody to follow (based on this order) and I need you all to design it!

Why?
This project is for fun, and for practice. World building is a long, tough process, and this will help us all gain experience.

More information about this project.

If you would like to get started all you have to do is click here!

Thanks!

Trapped - A Short Story

2011-12-14T16:09:00.000-05:00

I am alone.

There is nobody here.

I have been looking for weeks.

There is nobody here.

I don't remember anything about my life. I don't know who I am, or where I am, and I don't know how I got here. I am lost.

This is how my life has been. I have been searching. I am constantly searching. I find nothing. This world is empty.

Who am I?

Where am I?

These are all questions that are constantly racing through my mind. I know no answers.

The world is empty. I am in a field. The field never ends. I have been walking for weeks, and I cannot escape.

I don't understand. I know there is something wrong here. Or is it with me? I don't know.

I don't understand.

Then it happens. A black square opens in the world. I look in amazement, in confusion. A woman steps through, she is wearing all white, a tray in her hand.

“Annie.” She says to me. I hear the fear in her voice. She is fearful and worried. Annie? Who is Annie? Am I Annie?

“Annie, it's time to eat.” She says to me. I can see the worry in her eyes. She acts as if I am going to hurt her? Am I?

I move towards her. She flinches away from me; what is wrong with her?

She acts as if I'm the crazy one. She just came through a black hole in the world.

“Annie, you should drink this.” She tells me as she hands me a cup.

I snatch the cup from her hand and she jumps backwards. Of course I was going to drink it, I haven't had a drink in weeks.

I tilt the cup towards my mouth, the refreshing cold liquid felt amazing as it touched my lips. There was something wrong with this liquid. It wasn't water; there was something in it.

I can feel the molecules slowly drift down my throat. I hear the splash as it hits bottom, the echo of the sound bouncing off the lining of my empty stomach.

I start to feel relaxed. I sit down, looking up at the woman again. She seems, happy. I don't understand. What is going on?

Who am I?

Where am I?

What happened?

The woman turns around, walking away from me. I try to scream out, but nothing happens. There is only silence.

The black hole disappears.

I am alone.

Part 2: The Universe of Khaterra

2011-12-13T12:58:00.000-05:00

Part 2: The Universe of Khaterra

Note: Check out Part 1 first.

Currently, we know nothing about Khaterra; let's change that. Before we go into the details of what Khaterra is, we need to talk about what surrounds this magnificent planet of ours.

That's your job. Tell me, what surrounds our planet?

Things to keep in mind:

Other Planets
A sun? Or other form of energy
Moons?
Etc.

Pictures and Diagrams are, in fact, encouraged.

If you have any ideas all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of this page, and click, "Comments."

From there, write whatever you want. The best part: No registration is required!

I believe that two days for this will be more than enough. In two days I will create a poll with all of the options that have been posted, and we will vote on which one goes through into our universe.

A word of encouragement:

No post is a bad post, and no person is without an idea. Feel free to have fun, and don't be afraid of posting. This idea is all about having fun, and allowing yourself to build creativity! Nobody is going to judge you for your ideas. Who knows? Your idea might even be the idea that is chosen!

Don't forget:
By posting on any of the blogs related to Khaterra you are agreeing to there terms and conditions.

Also; if you would like to have an account so that you can post with a Username follow this guide. All you need is a gmail account!

Follow Khaterra's Process:
Part 1
Part 2

Part 1: The Outline of Construction for Khaterra

2011-12-13T12:57:00.001-05:00

Finally, I belive that we have our first working model on how we are going to create Khaterra. If you don't know what that is, you can check out the first draft prototype idea here. It took a lot of thought, and a lot of time, but I believe that the outcome of this project will be much greater because of this.

I am sorry to say this though: the comments that we had before are going to have to be scraped (for now) as we are going to start off with something more structured, and further back in time than we had previously.

Keep in mind: Your ideas are not gone forever. When we get to the stage of building that they are classified under you are more than welcome (actually encouraged) to bring them up.

This post will be purely for the posting of the outline, and any discussion that you would like to have regarding it. If you want to find where to begin creation, go here.

Worlds are complex, and it's hard to just create one from nothing. I wanted to do exactly that though. I have heard how some people take our world that we have and modify it to create their world, but I wanted to avoid having any preconcived notions of this world.

This world can be whatever we envision. We have a blank slate.

The order of creation, as it stands, will be posted below. Keep in mind, I have multiple bullet points under each of the points that we are going to cover, I just have not posted them as I thought it would be too long of a post that way.

Khaterra is a planet; what surrounds it? What is the universe around it?
What are the laws of physics?
What kind of Terrain consists on this world?
What types of Plants and Animals are in the world?
Who created this world (and other Godly things)
Who are the people who live on this world?
What “Age” is the world in?
What is the Economy and Financials like?
What is the Political Structure?
What are the Factions; where are they located?

There we have the 10 steps to building our world. Of course, there is much more that comes after the creation of the world. These are just the steps that we have to take first to get there.

Concerns were also brought up regarding only having me choose which parts of the world were put into place, and which were not. I understand these concerns, and because of that I have found a way to allow people to vote on what they want.

Thanks to SurveyMonkey, we will be hosting polls for nearly every aspect of Khaterra, so that the community majority vote will be what passes into the world of Khaterra.

For example:
For this post, this is going to be our survey.

Simple as that.

Don't forget, if you are interested in working on Khaterra, I am obligated to inform you of our terms and conditions. I am sorry about them, but it's just purely for ensuring that there are no legal problems.

Let's get started!

Khaterra Will Resume

2011-12-13T00:52:00.001-05:00

In just a few hours!

We will be starting Khaterra back up with a new system of ideas. I am extremely tired right now, so I don't want to write up said system until I am able to understand what I want to type.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am! The idea of building a new world makes me so happy!

Khaterra - The Land of New Updates

2011-12-09T13:42:00.001-05:00

This is going to be confusing; and I am sorry for this.

Khaterra has gained interest and there are many ideas that people have, but at the same time we have had a lot of confusion and questions about how we are going about this. A process like this is not easy, and there are going to be rough patches that we run into, but we will fight through and continue on.

At first we were working on how exactly the terms and conditions that we had to set up worked. These were set up so there weren't any legal issues when developing our idea. You can obviously find them by clicking the link above. By posting on any of the blog posts on this site contributing to Khaterra you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

The next few problems were just recently brought up to me; the first being that people aren't sure that they agree with me "picking" out the ideas that I feel work best. I am going to modify this; the new way is as such:

Rather than dictating the ideas completely the system is work like this. My original idea was to just pick out which ideas I thought worked the best together. I didn't realize that this could cause conflict. Obviously this can cause conflict, and I was ignorant for determining this. I meant to do nothing more than create a world that worked well together. What I am thinking we can do instead is that any and all ideas that work together will be used, but if there are conflicting ideas than we will have a poll to determine which ones we like the most.

There will be more on this soon. So check back for an update.

Khaterra's ideas will continue to be developed, but I am not going to set up the next step in development tomorrow like I had said. Instead, I am working on developing an outline so that we all understand what we are going to go through to develop our world. If you would like to contribute to the outline you can find it here.

Once the outline has been set, we will start move on. In the mean time, consider Khaterra to be postponed.

New Photo Gallery

2011-12-09T03:36:00.001-05:00

I know I promised these photos for you all a week or so ago; and I do apologize for not having them sooner. I have two new gallery's to show you guys and I'm pretty excited to see what you all think.

The first gallery that I have for you today is a gallery of our friend Miyu. Our inspiration was that of a depressed Alice in Wonderland.
Alice in Depressionland

The next gallery is again, of our friend Miyu. This time she is wearing a pair of crafted wings made by our friend for a theater production that they had. As we were taking the pictures I realized that she looked as if she were a curious fairy who was looking for a way to get out of her tower. She seemed to feel as if there was a chance for her to do so; and in the end she does, which makes her extremely happy.
Trapped in this Tower

We also snapped a few pictures during the first snowfall with Miyu and our friend Stephanie. I think they turned out pretty cool. The camera was very upset at how cold and dark it was because it was around 2AM.
The First Winter Snowfall

If you would like to check out some of the other photo gallery's that I have you can check out these:
Youmacon 2011 Pictures
Is this against my morals?

You can always check out all of my photos on my Picasa web album.

Don't forget to check out Khaterra while you're here!

What can we do to get more input?

2011-12-09T02:55:00.001-05:00

For those who don't know; we've been working on a creative idea exercise that has been named Khaterra. The more people that we have participating in the idea the more fun we have and the more we can get accomplished.

On that note; I'm open for any and all ideas that people have when it comes to getting more people to participate in Khaterra. I know that people are interested because a lot of people have been talking and looking at it. I am assuming that most people are afraid to post their ideas, or feel like they don't have any ideas.

I want to change that notion. No idea is stupid. If you have ANY idea what-so-ever please feel free to post it. Nobody here is going to make fun of your for your idea. If you don't think you have an idea than you aren't allowing yourself to think creatively. The point of this exercise is to allow yourself to become creative and to have fun.

Moral of this post: I'm tired and rambling. But! Post what you want, have no fears, and tell your friends!

Khaterra Update for the Day

2011-12-06T19:38:00.001-05:00

Here's what is going on. Khaterra's ideas have started rolling and they are looking great.

You can find what we are currently on (December 6th, 2011) here. We will be allowing new ideas for the next 6 days. That means on the Monday of next week we will be moving onto something new. The ideas that have been decided will be posted as a blog to describe what Khaterra has become.

Things you need to be aware of:
There have been people who have expressed legal concerns so I have wrote up some Terms and Conditions to the idea. I hope that those are understandable for everyone. I don't mean to cause any problems with this, it's just a simple procedure to allow us all to have fun here.

Let's get writing!

Terms and Conditions

2011-12-06T18:24:00.001-05:00

These terms and conditions will now be at the end of each of the Khaterra world ideas.

Guide: How to post with a Username

2011-12-06T00:32:00.001-05:00

I realized that my site here is kind of, different, and it seems that there isn't an obvious way to register and/or log in.

This is a blogger site, for those who didn't know. If you would like to register and be able to post comments with a username you need only follow these steps:

1) Go to http://www.blogger.com.
2) If you have a gmail account all you have to do is log in. If you don't register for a gmail account.
3) That's all.

Skyrim Guide: Enchanting to Own the Game

2011-12-05T16:41:00.001-05:00

Do you love exploiting things in game? Do you want to be insanely overpowered? Well this tutorial is for you!

Today I am going to teach you how to make it so that your armor rating and your weapon damage can be ridiculously high. Note: I don't know what the max that you can have these at, but I have been told that after having 250 damage on your weapon anything higher is unused. I just discovered how to do this as I was trying to create some new magic gear.

For today's tutorial you are going to want to be a decently high level in both Alchemy and Enchanting. This is not required, but it will make things go faster for you. You must also be able to smith whatever weapon and/or armor that you want.

What you'll need (the amount varies):
Items:
Grand Soul Gems

Fortify Smithing Ingredients:
Sabre Cat Tooth
Spriggan Sap
Blisterwort
Glowing Mushrooms

Fortify Enchanting Ingredients:
Blue Butterfly Wings
Hagraven Claw
Snowberries
Spriggan Sap

Unenchanted:
Rings
Necklaces
Bracers
Headgear

Enchantments:
Fortify Enchanting
Fortify Smithing
Fortify Alchemy

The amount of potions that you want to create (IE: How overpowered you want to be) will obviously affect how many of these ingredients you will need. You'll understand in a moment.

Now that you have all of these ingredients, here is what you want to do.
Go to an enchanting table with a ring, necklace, bracers, helmet/circlet, that have no enchantments on them.

Enchant these items with the strongest Fortify Alchemy that you can.

Equip this gear and go to an alchemy lab. Now create between 2-3 Fortify Enchanting potions. Each one of them will give you 30 seconds of a boost to enchanting. The amount that you create depends on how fast that you think you can enchant your gear. When you use an enchanting table time doesn't freeze. It's probably possible to enchant the pieces of armor with 1 potion, but it always took me around two.

Now that you have those potions, go back to the enchanting table. Drink a Fortify Enchanting potion, and again, create all four pieces to your Fortify Alchemy gear. Make sure that each time you are enchanting you are getting the boost from the potions.

At first, each of the potions will probably give you a very low percentage boost (around 5-10%) but with time they will gain.

Equip your new Alchemy gear and make a few more Fortify Enchanting potions. Go back to the Enchanting Table, enchant new gear. Repeat, over and over.

Once you have a nice level of Fortify Alchemy gear (you can decide on what that number is) you can take the world by storm. You can essentially create potions to do whatever you want. Want to have a insanely high armor rating? Go ahead and create some Fortify Heavy Armor potions.

Anyway; what I would do now is create a few Fortify Smithing potions. Create some new gear (armor and weapon) for yourself. Before you go to upgrade them drink the potions, and then upgrade your gear.

Enjoy.

Note: If somebody actually does this for further than a 50% boost to their alchemy please let me know. I didn't go much further than that because I didn't want to overpower my game too much.

EDIT: I have just been informed of this video:

If you need to see it done. It's a 16 minute video, so it's up to you what you want to do.

Other ideas:
Destruction Magic Gear
Sneak/Pickpocking/Lockpicking Gear

The legalities of Khaterra

2011-12-05T15:42:00.001-05:00

It has been brought to my attention that the idea that I have presented has problems with, legal issues.

I am not sure exactly how this works, but I guess people have thought that because there are multiple people contributing to a single idea, and those people are for the most part anonymous, that we wouldn't be able to sell anything that was made of this idea. We wouldn't be able to use others ideas, so the entire world that we create wouldn't be able to be used.

I was hoping that this wouldn't be a problem, as I was hoping that we would be able to make an agreement or understand that if you contribute your idea it would be there for all to use.

I am not sure if this can be confirmed or denied, or what I can do about this. Does anybody know how an idea like this would work? Would I be able to add an agreement to my blogs that states something along the lines of, "if you post an idea here you are agreeing to let your idea be free rain."

Let me know.

First Exam Done

2011-12-05T10:20:00.001-05:00

I just left my first exam, Japanese I, and I actually am a little perplexed on how I did. There was a lot of content on there, so it's hard to tell. I know that I did leave around 10% of the exam empty, maybe a little more, but where I filled in the answers I was fairly sure I did correctly.

Now to take the rest of the day to either play Skyrim or write (I'll be rotating the two).

I am also hoping to work a little more on Khaterra, and trying to find a new crowd to join us in our project.

I would love you if you were to post about Khaterra to anywhere you could potentially bring new people into the idea. If you run a blog/website that has potential to bring more people over please comment here or email me at tenfoxproduction@gmail.com and we can talk.

Thanks guys!

Khaterra - Our new world

2011-12-04T13:10:00.001-05:00

I have been getting some feedback, but not too much on the idea of building our own world. I would like to see more people participate, but I'm not sure how to do that.

I have been told that my instructions or idea might be a little confusing, so if you have any questions please let me know.

I would really like for this idea to turn out well, because I think it would be a ton of fun.

That's about all I have for today.

It's exam week, so I have a little bit of studying, and some exams to take, but not too much past that. I am hoping to write some on this idea, but I have also been developing my own story around Khaterra because once I started thinking about what this would could become ideas started rolling in my head.

I have around 1200 words of a story that I am very much enjoying writing, but I'm not sure I want to post them online yet. I am trying to decide what I want to do with it all.

Anyway; I'm just kind of rambling. Let me know what ideas you all have.
