Microsoft Hardware has designed a new computer mouse called Microsoft Touch Mousewhich adds touch features on top of the usual mouse functionality.
The mouse looks like any other mouse albeit with a weird form factor on first glance. It offers no mouse buttons in the traditional sense of the word, only a touch interface that makes up the upper half of the mouse body.
The touch interface reacts to touches. It is possible for instance to left-click and right-click by taping the finger in the right locations on the mouse surface. This not only is unfair to the original source, it also jeopardizes the integrity of search results returned by Google. Hence thestringent TOS (Terms of Service). But what about adding quotations, or sentences/paragraphs quoted from other websites? It does classify as content copied directly from another website. So how does Google treat such content and is it safe to include it on your website? Well, Google just released a video explaining how Google treats such content.

The issue was addressed by a video from Matt Cutts, head of Google's webspam team. In that video, he talks about the different practices applied by bloggers and webmasters online, and which of them is good and which isn't. You can see the video embedded below.

The ideal case

In an ideal world, people would only copy quotations, or things said by others that they like. For example, quoting a sentence from an author or public figure, quoting someone from their live speech somewhere (chances are, that speech will be copied by someone else too), an announcement, quoting from another blogger whom you find insightful etc. That is how quotes are supposed to work.

If that's the case, and you want to add such content on your site, then you can do it without fear, so long as you link to the original source. Credit should be given where credit is due. Just make sure you put the quotation in a block-quote tag, and everything will be fine.

People often ask, How will Google know whether it's just a quotation, or copied content that could get them penalized? Well, Google has some smart algorithms that will detect whether it's a quote or copied content. Besides, Google might check out your site manually. So don't worry if you've kept your end of the deal, and added a link to the original source and put the content in a block-quote.

When things go bad

Like much else, people are bound to exploit loopholes. Which is why Google is working on leaving as few as possible. It allows you to quote another site. How To Solve Google Sitemap Feed Proxy Errors – One Tip Solution

You all know how to submit your blog sitemap to Google if not you can Google for it and can find 1000 tutorials on this single topic but something that most of you might have observed are the Google Sitemap Errors! How do you solve them? Why so many errors when you have done everything the right way? The answer is simple , read on.

What actually happens is the fact that most bloggers burn their feeds at feedburner despite the default Atom feed system provided by Blogger. So most bloggers have redirected their default feeds to feedburner as shown below,

When we submit our RSS or Atom feeds at Google Webmaster Tools Site we are actually submitting the redirected feed hosted by feedburner. The disadvantage of doing so is that when Google Robot crawls your blog it basically indexes the data provided by the default BlogSpot feed system but since you have redirected your default feeds to feedburner, Google robot has to contact two feed systems at a time! first from BlogSpot and then from Feedbuner and thus it turns out into a confusion and results as Feed Proxy Errors which is surely a headache for every newbie blogger. Unfortunately the internet has almost rare tutorials on this issue. The reason behind doing a professional SEO course was indeed learning how to solve all such problems. Luckily I have come up with a solution.

The mistake everyone makes is by adding the following sitemap data,

OR

But this results in dozens of feed proxy errors. To solve this issue simply submit the following sitemap data,

Note:- You only need to add feeds/posts/default?redirect=false because your blog URL will be added by default.
where , feeds/posts/default?redirect=false is the code that redirects Google only to the default BlogSpot Atom Feed system.

There are many free email services that let you create free online Contact Forms but most of these forms are casual in look and appearance and are already used by millions of websites. You need to follow two simple steps to get to the end result,

Sign Up To Create A Normal Contact Form

First and foremost you need an account at a free email service to create a normal looking contact form which will be controlled by the email service itself. Go to Email Me Forms and Sign Up for an account and then follow the steps below

Go To Control Panel

After you have created an account click the link “Create a New Form” at the right-hand pane under Control Panel as shown below,

Then There will a total 7 steps which are illustrated in the images below. But Before going for step#1 kindly create a thank you page for your blog. This thank you page will appear when readers have successfully submitted their message to you using the contact form. You can see my Thank you Page as an example. Make sure you give it an old date.
Once you have created it then follow each step below carefully,

1. Step#1

Add a name for your contact form, enter your email address, leave spam Email address emtpy, add your thank you page URL/link and let number of fields be 6.

2. Step#2

Change your options to the ones shown in the image below. As far as the Required?Portion is concerned, you can set it according to your will but set other options the way they are shown in the image below,

Change your options to exact ones below,

For step 4 only edit the part as shown in the image below and leave the above portion as default. Make changes for regions indicated by blue arrows only.

Now open your blogger Editor and create a new post entitled as “Contact Me” . You can give it any title you like. Give this post an old date so that it should not appear in recent posts.

LOCK and UNLOCK Blogger Widgets

By default almost widgets in blogger blogs are editable. By Clicking the edit button, you can either perform edit, remove or cancel functions. You may have observed that some widgets can not be removed from page elements for example theHeader widget which lets you add a background image to your header or add your site logo. All those widgets which can not be removed are LOCKED and we learn today how to UNLOCK those widgets. We will also learn how to LOCK any widget we want so that it could only be edited but not removed.

How To LOCK/UNLOCK a Widget in Blogger?

Go To Blogger > Design
You will see many widgets in your page element section. Get the ID of the widget you want to remove. You can get the widgetID by placing your mouse cursor at the Edit link of that specific widget. You will see a link appearing near the status bar of your Mozilla/Chrome browser like this,

3. Simply note down the widgetID which in my case is HTML12. You widget ID is one that appears between widgetid= and &action

The Widget that you want to lock looks like this in UNLOCK mode,

UNLOCK MODE:

You can clearly see that there are three buttons which are REMOVE, CANCEL andSAVE

Now we want to delete the REMOVE button so that the widget could only be edited but not removed.

4. Now go to Blogger > Design > Edit HTML

5. Backup your template

6. Search for your widget ID. (In my case I will search for HTML12

7. You will find a code similar to this,

8. Now to LOCK the widget simply let locked to true

9. Save your template and Your Widget is now LOCKED.

Go to Page Elements section and you will see that your widget has no REMOVE button now.

Fortunately we can even add this extremely useful Reply Link to our blogger blogs to make it even more better. On clicking the reply link or reply button, an anchor link to that comment post is pasted in blogger comment pop-up form. That link will show who has been responded or replied. I am using CSS3 attribute selector property in this tutorial to add Icons to hyperlinks.Previously we had to use JavaScript to add an icon next to the hyperlink on your blogger blog or website but now you can do it easily using CSS3. The icons appear when the file extension is detected in the link. For Example if I add a link to pdf file like this,

How To Create this About Us page?

For this tutorial I will suggest that you use Windows Live Writer. WLW will make your page design even more neat and clean. So lets get to work!

Copy all data in your about us page in a notepad and keep it safe.
Delete every thing in your about page and start writing a fresh bio about yourself in no more than 3-4 lines. Then add an your best picture to the left of your bio. See the example below,

3. Now you need to add some rows/paragraphs where you can talk about your services, goals etc. I would advise that you create at most two-three rows and keep them short in length. Use passive voice and avoid using "I am this and that" rather use a tone that may sound as if someone else is describing the author. Once you have written down the paragraphs then start enclosing each paragraph one by one between this code,

Hide Label Tags and Author Name In Blogger Posts

There are some pages like your contact page, about page, table of contents page where you don't want label tags or "Posted by Author at xyz time" text to appear. You can view any of my page in the navigation menu above and you will observe that you see no tags or author names below post titles.

How To Hide Label Tags On Selected Pages Of Blogger?

Go To Blogger > Design > Edit HTML
Backup your template
Check the "Expand Widget Templates" box
Search For,

5. Now add the following code just above it,

Remove deactivated Profiles from your Facebook friend list

Facebook might be the largest social network in action today, but it isn't without its flaws. A lot of changes made by Facebook seem to cause problems for the users, especially the ones made in 2012. First, the Timeline, then the ticker and the ability of friends to add you to groups without permission. Then there's this problem regarding deactivated and deleted profiles in your friend list. Since the changes made, people started to notice old profiles (and new) that had been deactivated in their friends list. Now this isn't a problem, but it sure clutters up your list and inflates your number of friends. You can easily find and delete these profiles from your list and clear up things.

Detecting deactivated profiles

So how do you know you have these "Ghost Profiles" in your account? Here is a simple test. Go to your profile, and note down the total number of 'friends' you have. This will show you the total number of people in your friend list, including those who have deleted or deactivated their profiles. This is where the problem is, because it should only display the number of active profiles. Hence, Facebook's metrics are flawed, so to speak.

Now, go to https://www.facebook.com/me/friends, and (if possible), count the total number of profiles displayed there (This is where your school arithmetic lessons might come in useful :D). This number will most likely be lesser than the previous one. I, for one, have 361 friends in my list, but upon counting them, I came up with a count of 349, give or take a couple.

Why does this happen? Suppose you had 100 friends, and Mr. X added you on Facebook. So your total count becomes 101. Sometime later, he decides he's better off without Facebook, so he deactivates his profile. Your count should get back to 100, but it doesn't. It'll be 101, with an added "Ghost Profile".

Removing deactivated profiles

You can easily remove the ghost profiles from your list manually. If you start searching on Facebook with a letter, Facebook will show you your friends that have that letter in their names. For examply, type in 'x' and you will see Mr. X there.

You can recognize the de-activated profiles from the default silhouettes instead of profile pictures. You might also see silhouettes in your friend list. If those silhouettes are active profiles, then you will see a pop-up when hovering over them. Otherwise, they're just deactivated profiles that you can choose to delete. Click on them, and you'll get a message saying that the profile has been deactivated. There's an option to un-friend that profile. Go ahead if you want.

SPEEDUP YOUR COMPUTER (Part 1)

A slow and lazy computer is no less than an irritating spot to work in. Most of you may have spent hundreds of dollars in the maintenance and optimization of your Desktop computers but in the end hopelessness is what you get. Many softwares have been created to help you boost your computer speed but they too often fail to solve this problem. Today I will share some tips and tricks [TNT] that will accelerate your computer's performance to 100%. These are not just ordinary tips and tricks that you find in internet but these are the practical ways and most effective ways of boosting up your computer speed. These TNT have made me love my computer and work on it for hours with comfort and fun. I am now in love with my Pentium-3 computer, which now works much faster than Pentium-4 :D

So Lets learn step by step on how to plant this TNT. All the images below are extracted from my blog TECfun

1. Adjust Your Computer For best Performance

What do you prefer most, appearance or performance? If I heard you say performance then do the following:
Go to

Start Menu

Right click my computer

Click properties

A window will open, click the "advanced" tab as shown below

Under Performance click settings, as shown above.
Another window will open as shown below,

Choose "Adjust for best Performance" and then click Apply then Ok. Now the entire look & performance of your computer will change to a light and a more effective one respectively.

2. Reduce The Number of Your Start Up Items In Your Taskbar

When you Start your windows XP, many unnecessary programs run in the background and capture a huge amount of your computers memory and processing speed. To turn off these unnecessary Start up items do the following:
Go to

Start Menu

Click on Run

A window will open up , write msconfig in it, as shown below,

A new window will open as shown below,

There are many options as you can see above, we will concentrate on "Load system services" and "Load Startup Items" in detail.
Choose the option "Selective Startup"
In the Square White boxes, check all except "Process Win.INI File"
Now click the "Services tab" above and a screen will open as shown below,

Uncheck the two boxes entitled "Security Center" & "Automatic Updates" and click Apply.

Security Center and Automatic Updates keeps your system up to date with latest Microsoft system files, but unfortunately these two services help little and spoil a lot when it comes to your computer speed. Each day these services will download dozens of Updates into your computer, which takes huge amount of your system memory. If you don't use these services no harm will happen to your system instead your system will pray for you from the bottom of its Metallic Heart :D
After clicking apply, click "Startup" tab as shown below,

Uncheck all those services that you don't want to open automatically when you Start Your Computer. In my case I have unchecked all except Anti-Poisoner, without which I will not be able to "Browse" the internet. If you don't know what to do, simply uncheck all boxes.
Click apply, a window will open, asking you to restart your computer for changes to take effect--->>> Click Ok. After restart you will observe that your System loaded in seconds with only two to three Startup items as shown below,

Now if you still feel that "Man that was tough", then Download Msconfig Cleanup Utility that will do everything as I said above just with a click of a mouse. It will remove all unwanted startup programs with great ease. Good choice for inexperienced users :D.

3. Cleanup Your Disks Daily

Each time you visit a website your browser stores some files e.g: Images from that website onto you Drive C [Your System Drive], so that next time you visit that website the browser will open it quickly. To delete all such temporary internet files stored onto your Drive C, we will use a software called "Disk Cleanup". This software is already installed on every WinXP so you don't need to download it. Do the following,
Go to,

Start Menu

Click All Programs

Click Accessories

Click System Tools

Finally Click Disk Cleanup

A window will open as shown below,

Select Drive C and click OK, another window will open,

Just see how much useless files are stored onto your system!!! The files stored in my PC are all "0 KB" in size as you can see above because I cleanup my disk every day. Just see yours, I am sure if you don't knew about Disk clean up before your stored files size may be mounting 1000 KBs!!!

Simply click OK and all unwanted files will be deleted. Do this Once a week for all other drives. [Drive D, Drive E....bla bla bla], but do it daily for drive C. This will boost up your PC speed tremendously!

4. Always use "Add or Remove Programs" utility to delete unwanted programs

When ever you uninstall/delete a program always use the "add or remove" utility. This utility will remove/delete every bit of the program without leaving any traces behind. Confused???? Let me explain. When you delete a program just by right clicking on it and selecting delete Or by clicking on the program and then pressing "Shift + Del" key, you only delete 95% of the program from your hard disk, the remaining 5% dwell in your hard disk, occupying a precious space, thus leading to slow computer speed. To delete your unwanted programs the right way, do the following:
Go to

Click Control Panel

A window will open, there you will find the " Add or remove Program" icon, double click the icon

A new window will open as shown below

To delete a program, just click the program and then click "Remove". This way you will keep your computer clean and active.

5. Defragment your Drives Once a week

The files on your Hard disk due to regular use often break down or become fragmented. This can cause your system to run more slowly and encounter several processing problems. For instance, a computer program must access various files on your hard drive every time you try to run it. If those files are spread out on your hard drive instead of gathered and organized neatly, your computer will have to work extra hard and take extra time to access the information it needs. The solution to this problem is Defragmenting.

Defragmenting, also referred to as "defragging," reorganizes your hard drive by putting pieces of related data back together so that files are organized in a contiguous fashion. As a result, your computer system can access files more efficiently. By efficiently organizing your files and folders, defragmenting will leave your free space in one big chunk. This will allow your new files to be saved in an orderly fashion, thereby reducing the likelihood of future defragmentation.

All operating systems have a defragmenting tool called Disk Defragmenter which organizes your files and improves your computer speed. To run Disk Fragment do the following:
Go to

Click All programs

Click Accessories

Click System Tools

Finally Click "Disk Fragmenter"

A utility will open as shown below

The Analyze key will tell you whether or not your selected drive needs defragmenting or not.
Always analyze your drive before defragmenting it, because defragmenting a drive can take hours depending on your disk size.
Defragment your drives once every week. Do this and see the difference in your PC performance.

6. Improving loading speed of "My computer"

When you click on my computer it often takes 4-5 seconds to open, to reduce this delay time to zero, do the following:

Click my computer to open it. Once "my computer window" opens, click on "Tools" Tab then click on "Folder Options" as shown below,

Another window will open, click on "View" tab as shown below,
Now under Files and Folders uncheck the box saying "Automatically search for network folders and printers". Click Apply and Ok. By doing this your computer will not search for network folders and printers anymore.

Now when you click my computer the window will open up in a fraction of a second. Go test it! :D

Create Static HTML Design Of your Blogger Template

This is part 2 of our series "XHTML to HTML" . We have already learned how to turn blogspot's layout into blank HTML page but we have no yet shared how to remove the dynamic XML tags alone leaving behind the stylesheet, scripts and html design. In today's tutorial I will try to share the basic way of understanding a websites core structure by identifying the important div sections that make up the structure. I hope you have followed part one of the series and have downloaded your blogspot template. I also assume you have Dreamweaver orCodelobster installed on your desktop computers or laptops.

Identify the Div Sections

Div sections are division blocks or containers that hold elements inside it to layout a web page. The <div> tag defines a division or a section in an HTML page. It starts with a <div> tag and ends with a </div> tag. When a div section is styled, we add the CSS ID or class to it as follows:

If you want to introduce a class in Div, do this:

If the Div section is styled using an ID, it will look like this:

In CSS code a class always starts with a dot at its beginning and Id starts with a hash sign as shown below:

Now when you have understood what a Div section is, you will be able to identify these slices (div) that define your overall blog layout.

View your blog either in Firefox or Chrome. I prefer Firefox
On an empty section (the background) of your blog right click and choose "Inspect Element"

3. Two windows will open. The bottom window will highlight the core HTML of the blog and the area on your right highlights the CSS.

In the HTML section you will see important div sections. If you click any div tag, all html inside it will expand and when you click back it will contract. The important thing to note is what section is highlighted on your blog when you click a div. Note down that section for that particular div and save it in a notepad. Start from Divs at the top to divs at bottom. Go in sequential order.

For example if I click on the div tag for mbt highlighted below as <div id="wrap"> the entire container holding all the blog contents except the top-sticky-bar are highlighted. That's how I identified what this div does and what sections can be styled using it.

Use the same method to identify the divs for Header, Navigation, Post container, Sidebar Container and finally the footer. The divs must go in order and keep track of which div is nested under another div. For example in my case the navigation, header, post body and sidebar all comes under the wrap div. So I will insert the remaining divs inside it.

This may sound a little techy for people not familay with HTML tag priorities but for developers who wish to understand how to create a clone design the method above can't be more clear than this.

Remove the Dynamic Tags

Use Dreamweaver or Codelobster to open the xml file you downloaded
Find each div tag and edit the code inside each one of them.
For example for the outer-wrapper div tag I delete the div tags for post body and sidebar leaving the entire area vacant and then I add the contact form inside it. Visit our contact page to see the wide area with no sidebars and post-section.

The dynamic code is easy to identify because all widgets have this basic structure:

A widget container is initiated using the b:section tag and widget content is initiated using the b:widget tag. Find them all and replace the b:section tags with static div tags like the following:

Once you are done with this, you will find your template looking neater and getting in shape if you are using code lobster or dreamweaver. It took me 4 hours to clean up MBT's code so it should not take you long. Its lengthy process but extremely interesting and worth trying. Once you have learnt how to do this, in our next part, I will teach you how to add a PHP contact form inside the Cloned Blogger template that looks exactly like the original blog, giving the user a great experience.

You can see at our sidebar area that the default BlogSpot archive widget is transformed into a Wordpress Type Archive calendar with custom styles and flavors. The easy script and stylesheet today will enable you all to create a calendar archive gadget for your blogs using MBT's custom style sheets for Dark and Light backgrounds. The script is coded by phydeaux3 and redesigned by MBT with custom colors and more easy installation. The plugin has been made compatible and easy to implement. Just follow the basic steps below.

Install Archive calendar on your Blog

Go To Blogger > Layout
Chose Blog Archive widget which is available in Blogger's default widget directory. Switch to next page in the directory to find it.
Choose the following options as shown in the screenshot. Choose style as Flat list. Uncheck "Show Oldest Posts First", choose archive Frequency as Monthlyand Date Format can be set to anything.

4. Click save

5. Now go to Blogger > Settings > Template. Backup your template and then clickEdit HTML > Proceed

Add Styles

The widget will look dull and grey unless you style them by adding colours. Do this:
