Exploring careers is a huge task. Students really need to think about what they are getting into for their lives. People always want to do what they enjoy but is that always the best option? People want to follow their dreams but due to the downturn in the economy the dream job might not be something a person would want. People need to research what they are getting into before declaring their majors.

Chapter 11 talks about spending money. I tend to go out of control when i have money in my hands. Money has to be spent wisely otherwise u will go broke before you know it. Money is a resource as its said in economics and it is always wise to use your resources wisely. Unwise use of credit cards can really harm a person. It can really ruin a persons credit and it can lead to a ruined life. Bad credit score can lead to harm in the future.

Avoiding problems with credit cards is one of the biggest challenges us Americans face. An average person shall have no more than 2 credit cards in their wallet but now that average has risen to 8. People are ruining their credit by having too many credit cards and not being able to keep track of them. It is very important to not sign up for many different cards, just because the design looks cool (myself). Credit cards do affect your lives in the long term so BE CAREFUL!!!

Know Yourself

Try o get financial aid when you are in college. It is free money. You never have to pay it back. I consider some students “idiots” for not even applying. I mean how can they expect to win the lottery if they don’t get themselves in the lottery. The thing about financial aid is that government wants to pay for your education if you aren’t able to. This is great bacuz atleast the government has $$ for something.

Know Yourself

Depression. Now a days, there is hardly anyone who is depressed. People are stressed out throughout the day but most of us end the day with the right amount of drugs or alcohol in the system. This is great. It helps us relax. More people on drugs at the same time means a much more relaxed world. I, myself don’t use drugs but you guys get what I’m saying.

Your Journal

This chapter includes a section that tells students to not smoke and avoid drugs. I found the title “Don’t Smoke” very interesting so I looked into it. Hmm.. the book sure does makes sense by telling me that smoking causes deaths, heart diseases, and cancer. But who didn’t know this already? I thought I was going to learn something new, more facts about smoking that can help, but that wasn’t the case, so I looked into the “Avoid Drugs” section. And it had the same bullshit over again. Everybody knows we are not a drug free society and everybody knows change is bad most of the times so why try to change thing. Why don’t they just legalize marijuana already?

AUDIO Vlogs The audio vLogs we had to do were finished in class. As great as Professor Dan is, he allowed us to finish our peer mentor and senior interviews along with the Audio Vlogs as a class. This was great because i had a difficult time finding a senior to interview. The in class idea was much better in many ways. It got done much faster than we could have done it. ANd Professor Dan tought us how to edit these vLogs in class right in front of our eyes using Audacity.

I never feel physically ill before a test. I never have troubles completing a test. I always know I could do better on a test by preparing ahead. My mind has occasionally gone completely blank during an exam. I never have difficulty getting a good night sleep during or before an exam. I always know the material needed for the test. I occasionally get distracted during a test more than other students seem to.

This chapter describes the fact that tests are extremely important in college. They are helpful in many ways that most students don’t recognize. Tests help students get feedback on how they are doing and what they need to do to improve themselves. Tests force each and every student to learn and stay on track, this is very important because without tests students won’t be studying in college.

One thing that will help most students improve their study habits is to join a study group. Studying with others is great. More knowledge is usually gained when u help others or listen to others review the information. Study groups also keep you from being lazy therefore you wont be procrastinating all the time. Study groups are great and they will definitely help everybody improve their grade

Knowing where to study is a huge aspect of studying. There is always disturbance in places such as your rooms. Any kind of noise while reading something switches your attentions from one point to another. It is also highly recommended to read without listening to music. Library is the best and most reliable place to study. It is also filled with resources.

College classes are much more different than high school classes. At SJSU I am staying in throughout my classes. I dont leave early or show up late. And i always try not to fall asleep or get off track in class. I am proud of myself as a student and I plan on changing my study habits because I dont tend to study enough

I always organize my notes in one place. I always approach listening actively. I always highlight key ideas or themes. I sometimes use abbreviations to save time. i sometimes personalize my notes. I sometimes review my notes after class. I always cross out errors instead of keeping them.

Always use exercises such as the "i wonder.." idea the book suggests. Brain activities such as these help reduce stress and leads a students life towards a better educational college year. Always make sure to keep in touch with your professors because trying to contact them the day before finals might not be a good idea.

I am considering aerospace engineering as my major. Intelligences and courses that fit within this major are classes involving mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The learning process that might be most emphasized in this major is active learning, things that are hands-on. My personality style somewhat lends itself to the demands of the career i want to pursue. I believe i am pretty well suited for this major based on my learning style because i have a great interest in this major, and my learning style of active learning and reflecting on what i am taught will assist me.

When i have to learn how to operate a new piece of equipment, i carefully study the owner's manual. What i like best about lectures is the chance to record the ideas of an expert. My class notes usually look like notes with drawings, doodles, and other loosely related ideas or images. I prefer assignments that involve solving practical problems. In class discussion, i am a watcher rather than a direct participant. I would rather work with creative ideas. My learning motto is "let me experiment."

I observed my math professor make a bad speech. The introduction lacked interest, therefore I did not have the intent to listen to the rest of the speech. The poor introduction threw off the rest of the speech. As I watched the speech flop, I felt like telling my professor to start from the beginning again. For future speaking challenges, I would start off with a attention grabbing intro, then emphasize from there.

Library Tour

MLK Library TOur I thought the library tour was very informational. It could have been shortened and still provided us with the same amount of information. The tour provided me with many new resources that im now aware of at SJSU. I also got to get my library card which i didnt know i needed one. I believe the library tour is a great way for freshmen to find out about the resources available to them. I would like to thank the professor who came out and took the time to teach and explain us many different things.

I tend to spend alot of time at my friends place because of the fact that there is no air conditioning in Joe West and it gets really hot in there sometimes.

I spend too little time on studying and homework but i dont really get much homework so it works out.

Next week i will spend more time on blogging and reading a little bit for my english class.

Next week i might spend a little bit less time sleeping cuz i do alot of that too

Problem - I tend to watch too much football

Pacific Islander Workshop

I attended the two hour long pacific islander workshop. it was a great experience. i got to meet new people and learned about new resources available on campus for students to use. They had a great performance with different types of dances and served everybody food at the end of the workshop. At the workshop i was provided with alot of knowledge about SJSU and surviving the good years to come at SJSU. I strongly recommend for everybody to attend this workshop.
