Just posting to post - I drew this.

Shine a Light

2011-11-13T19:50:00.001-08:00

I love the simplicity of this light. It looks great for camping and will fit in anyones backpack, not to mention the Tom's shoes business model. I like to see equity make it's way into a viable business model. http://www.luminaidlab.com/index

Occupy Portland getting Evicted Live

DIY minimalist desk

2011-11-12T05:46:00.000-08:00

Even though we have an office, sometimes we need two desks at the same time. There is a little space next to the bed, about 30" wide, that could be used to solve this problem. I'm looking for a minimalist desk that I can build myself with minimalist tools (we don't have a power-anything).

It would also be great to have a little drawer for chapstick, etc.

Here is the space (don't worry, new bedding is on it's way).

And here is some inspiration.

CAD vs Pencil

2011-11-09T18:53:00.000-08:00

As a design industry professional I've been wrestling with the argument of CAD vs Pencil and it's the same discussion over and over again. Finally someone has figured out a new way to answer that question. http://www.daltonmghetti.com/

Occupy Design

2011-11-08T19:38:00.000-08:00

So I've been following the Occupy Wall street movement wondering what I can do as a designer to support those out there standing up for us all. After a little searching I came across occupydesign.org. As described on their website,

"Occupy Design is a grassroots project connecting designers with on-the-ground demonstrators in the Occupy Togethermovement. The project’s goal is to create freely available visual tools around a common graphic language to unite the 99%. The project places an emphasis on producing infographics and icons to improve the communication of the movement’s messages and the data surrounding them across the world."

It's either this or I start designing locally built, gluten free, vegan tents.

The Knife Maker

2011-11-08T12:34:00.000-08:00

I really like when people find what they are good at and take pride in there craft. That's exactly what Joel over at Cut Brooklyn did when his writing career turned out to be less than lucrative. Check out this great video over at http://thisismadebyhand.com/. I had know idea a chef's knife had five different lines.

Wild Naugas

2011-02-14T15:59:00.000-08:00

I think someone was finally able to snap a photo of Nauga's in their natural environment. It's a shame to see these cute creatures slaughtered for their delicate hides.

Motorcycle Weekend

2011-02-07T16:12:00.000-08:00

Went to a local motorcycle show here in Portland over the weekend and can't stop imagining what it would be like to ride this thing.

Look closely and you can see the unused front brakes on the bicycle front end. As for the back brakes, well that piece of metal rubbing against the tire is sure to stop you on a dime. Still I can't help but want one. www.theonemotorcycleshow.com

Finally.... a tablet that makes sense

2011-02-06T12:17:00.000-08:00

I have no idea why a person would want an iPad. But then again, I bought an Alex, so I'm clearly not good at picking tech trends. Regardless, this is a tablet design that I am excited about.

Little plastic butts - the 111 Navy Chair

The new 111 Navy Chair, made from recycled plastic bottles.

from http://emecowithcoke.com

I have to admit that I'm a little weirded out by the one size fits all butt crack, but I applaud the effort to reuse, especially considering this...

Depicts two million plastic beverage bottles, the number used in the US every five minutes. http://www.chrisjordan.com

Fun with Mirrors

2010-04-12T09:05:00.000-07:00

I'm not a fan of mirrors in general, but these are more art than mirrors. All form and no function. I like it.

A little more functional, but still good form....
