Fattah is the only candidate who did not improve between the debate I saw a couple of weeks ago and the WHYY debate tonight. He had been described as a wonk by the Inquirer early in the election. That is not true. Successful public policy starts with a goal and moves to a strategy and plans to achieve that goal. Knox showed more knowledge about city issues in the WHYY debate. Every candidate, except Fattah did better. Too bad he chose to team with that loose cannon Blackwell. That puts him almost to the Brady-Fattah level in my mind.

In my previous post I said I liked Knox's performance in the televised debate and thought he would be a reasonable choice. Corruption and cronyism is number 1 in this campaign. His tieup with Blackwell means he is into the same old same old. He has certainly alienated those who want change. Let's hope his numbers keep falling.

In the debate on Sunday Nutter did not get his share of time to talk, partly because he did not push his way in like Evans. Nor did he project much warmth.

He is the only candiate that I've personally met. In person he is warm and quite at ease and carries on a thoughtful discussion that he does not try to dominate. He is truly interested in the issues and fully understands the problems.
