Postcards Exhibit - Update!

I have been busy creating OSWOAs for my Online Solo Exhibition - Postcards from the Imagination. So in between caring for my 4 children, Drs Appointments (Antenatal) and painting - I have finally found the time to post an update. At this very moment I have 5 artworks yet to finish which for me is fantastic - Creating 25 pieces for this was a challenge I was not to sure that I was going to be able to fulfill but it looks like I am at the last sprint towards the finishing line!

I have mentioned in previous posts and on the website that there will be giveaways through out the exhibition. The giveaways will include:

I will still be keeping an active Etsy store, but soon it will not longer have Originals in it. It will be kept only for prints, scrabble tile pendants etc (more items will be added through out the year)

My Storenvy will have all of what will be on etsy plus the addition of my Originals - the great thing about Storenvy is you do not need to signup with the site to purchase as they have a Guest checkout!

Fantasy Art Watercolour Tutorial - hopefully more to come!

If you are like me at all then you love finding tutorials on online - one of the best thing the internet has to offer. i have posted a Squidoo Lens of my recent Enchanted Visions painting: Crimson Wings.

This goes through in step by step of how I created this piece. I must admit that I am not the best when It comes to teaching or explaining what I am doing as it can change from painting to painting. But if you are interested I think you will really like it.(click the image to go to the tutorial)

I also hope to do a lot more. If time permits and at the moment it seems as though I am pretty well on schedule - I will create a couple more of these tutorials using some of the art I am doing for my online exhibition: Postcards from the Imagination. (make sure to RSVP to be entered into the giveaways)

For an updat on my exhibition, I have created all of the sketches for each artwork plus a few more in case I change my mind (which is likely) in addition to the originals being available I also hope to have Limited Edition prints available also but that is not set in stone.

Solo Exhibition 2011 - Update

If you are a fan of my Facebook Page then you may have noticed a few posts about my solo exhibition that will run for two weeks beginning in March. Until recently I did not even have a name for this event. Finally it is un-named NO MORE!

POSTCARDS FROM THE IMAGINATION!

I actually had this as a suggestion from RoyalKitness from the etsy forums - who suggested Postcards from your Imagination, i just changed your to the.

At this moment the Exhibition will hopefully have 25 brand new never before seen artworks all OSWOA (4x6" in size - standard postcard size) they are going to be portraits, fantasy, whimsical and dark/gothic. I am incredibly excited about this, I really hope this will be a success! I am working on some wonderful items to include as giveaways for customers and guests.

I have already completed 15 sketches for this and have another 3 that will be done by the end of today. I have also set out goals for myself per week so I can make sure that I am on schedule. The exhibition website will hopefully be live with all the information by the end of this week.

Also by the end of this week I hope to have all 25 sketches completed and transferred ready for painting... at the moment I am on schedule, and I think I am doing very well even with the added stress of 4 children running around - 3 will be going back to school at the end of the month so I will have some time to really catch up.

There will be many late nights ahead I can assure you - but it is such a fun and exciting thing!!!

New Art: The Faery Underworld

I finished this piece last week but did not blog about it...so I am writing up a post now.
This painting has been done using watercolour and soft pastels, the theme was Haunting Holidays and it was done for the MysticMemories.com Artist Contest. I enjoyed creating this and although the time and theme suggested Halloween i only loosely painted this on that theme. It's not a heavily cliched Halloween theme ie with black cats and jack-o-lanterns (although there are pumpkins)

I have been working on another painting which is about half way done, it's for the Selina Fenech artist contest: Under the Sea, I am not doing something that you would automatically assume, Mermaid. It's going to be figurative but just not a mermaid ;)

So I decided to give this site a whirl with an idea i have had for almost 6 months, below you will see a Widget for my current project.

So in a nutshell, I am hoping to fund a small business idea, to have a range of amazing handmade bath and body products, with labels of beautiful fantasy art on them.

But in order for me to really get started and go further (beyond the testing stage) I need to raise funds for this which importantly includes the purchase of an Epson printer, this will be for prints and label, in high quality.

Brand New Selkie ACEO - Original Fantasy Art

I finished another Selkie ACEO yesterday, I had done one a couple of years ago and It seemed to be my most popular ACEO so I thought I would do another.

I will be uploading items to Etsy again pretty soon, I may have just my small works of art on Etsy such as ACEOS and OSWOAS. All other art: big art etc will stay on my website.
Main reason for going back to etsy is...well i miss it lol!
Will post back here when I have finished updating my etsy store!

#2 Fruit Faeries Art Finished - Pomegranate Faery

This is #2 in the Fruit Faeries Series, I will be starting on the next one soon, I am not sure what else so, come on and comment on this post with your suggestions!
I am also thinking that some really Exotic Fruits would be great too.
Because there is currently a new theme for the Enchanted Visions Project (Dreaming on aquamarine tides) i think that is the correct wording lol - I may start this before the next fruit faery. I have a sketch all done, maybe I might upload the sketch here to get some feedback!
I am in two minds of whether it will be a watercolour or acrylic painting.

Line art for Fruit Faeries Series #2 - Pomegranate Faery!

Ok so in the last post I asked for suggestions for future Fruit Faeries artworks (these are OSWOAs) and had the suggestion of Pomegranate, so here is the line work of it:

Because it is going to be in landscape format I will be adding fruit and leaves on either side, I am thinking deep pinks for this, not sure but she may be a brunette or pale blonde? I can't decide!
As with the last post if you have any ideas for more fruit for this series leave a comment. I am going to start painting this this afternoon once I have the final layout transferred.

New Ideas for the next artwork in Fruit Faeries Series

Well I was going to try and get some sketches done yesterday but I was not feeling up to it, with the time of year...I was feeling a little unwell and went to bed very early, hubby had to stay up with the kids and even make our youngest a bottle...ha...he had not done that for over 5 yrs!

Any way, feeling much better after some Nurofen!
So, I hope to create some sketches today for the Fruit Faeries series, with the first faery completed (passion fruit) i am now working out what other fruits to have, I am not entirely sure how many artworks will be in this series, perhaps at least 10.
the next one will be Cherry...but other than that, I am asking my readers for some suggestions, what would you like to see? exotic fruits?
I would love for you to comment on this post with suggestions!

New Fantasy artwork completed - The Locket

Ok, a few posts ago you saw the sketch that I had completed for this. this artwork is The Locket for the Enchanted Visions Project

I have created a bit of a story behind it, the faery has found a locket belonging to a woman who has dropped it in the woods, this faery has become infatuated with the man in the locket.

I need to work on my backgrounds as i really add too much colour, needs to be more muted, well what can i say? I just love colour!
Love to hear your comments on this.

First Artwork in New Fantasy Series!!!!

I have started on a new series, this is a series of OSWOA's (Original Small Works Of Art) each painting is 4"x 6", about the same size as a standard postcard.

The new series is FRUIT FAERIES.
Below is #1 in the series, this one is Passionfruit Faery, I did this one because i love the flower of the passionfruit, so unusual and alien-like.

I am still working on the next artwork for the Enchanted Visions project, it's almost done, just needs a few details etc finished off.

In the meantime i would love to hear your suggestions for other fruit faeries in this series.

Work in Progress Sketch - The Locket

I sat up last night and started a sketch: The Locket, I still need to add her wings (i am hopeless at drawing things the correct size and ran out of room for the wings)

It may be a little hard to see the scanned image. but it does give you a general idea of what I am doing. I am thinking some soft moth style wings would be great, I am also thinking a subtle/neautral colour palette might be nice...SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!!!
I will be working on this today and hopefully have her transferred to my final support. The final size is going to be 8x10" its a good size to work on and as a benefit...I am able to scan it easily!
One thing you will notice...she has short hair! I am so used to doing long flowing hair, short hair is just as gorgeous and honestly after the hair style she has i don't think she would suit long locks.
Love to hear your thoughts on this...i encourage comments!!

Be my Fantasy Artwork Muses

One thing I love when creating art is to be challenged, to do something out of my comfort zone, something I would not have thought of doing. To create art from my own ideas is not really challenging me so... I am now appealing to my blog readers and followers from Facebook and Twitter etc.

So what do you have to do?
Offer ideas for new art, they could be vague or as detailed as you wish (keeping in with my style of art).

Whether they are just words, a colour, a feeling or concept, a mix of words or even a detailed description...this is up to you. All you need to do is post your ideas in a comment on this post and I will periodically pick ideas from the comments to create an artwork.
Occasionally I may have giveaways for ideas that are chosen.
I will post on here and give reference to the person who had the idea when I have created an artwork.
So... come on get inspired!

Brand New Fantasy artwork/painting released - Green Faery

I started this painting a couple of months ago, the sketch had been done. Until a little over a week ago that is all it really was; a sketch!
I was going to wait until I had all of my current WIP's completed before i started on this, but I found that I kept thinking about this painting and figured that I should go ahead and do this one seeing as I was obssessing over starting it!
LOL

I have actually begun recording my hours for my art, normally I was pricing them based on a price per medium x square inch. Now I am basing them all on the time taken to actually complete the work, i use the software: Art Affair - (an inventory/invoicing program - well worth the $ spent) and after recording all the hours and minutes i had written down on a notepad, this artwork took me (including preliminary sketches) 13 hours and 15 minutes!
WOWsa...no wonder i am tired...lol.

At the moment prints and the original are not yet for sale, simply because the original painting is: 29 x 42cm so it is wayyyy too big for my scanner, so I will be having it scanned by a local printing service, i was scanning them in sections before this but it took about 3hrs to get that done and the sections digitally 'stitched' together (my laptop is soooo slow and needs upgrading) I figured paying a company to scan it is going to save my sanity, that and also keep me from throwing my computer out the window in frustration!
so the image you see on here is a photograph, so it basically is just to show everyone what I have been upto.
It will be available on ebay once scan has been done!

Over the coming weeks:
I will be getting some of my WIP paintings finished, I even have a couple of finished art that simply needs to be scanned!
Artworks include:
Gothic art
2 x light, whimsical faery artworks
the next artwork in my Celtic Astrology Series - this one is to be Holly Faery.

I am also playing with a few ideas for new art series. This will be announced once i have added more to the Celtic Astrology and Enchanted Visions Series.

Ok, so those who know me also know that I have a habit of redesigning my website on a very frequent basis. It's probably not a good idea to always change it and i do hope that it does not confuse anyone!
this change was actually really necessary.

Now that my Etsy store is completely empty I have added all available originals to my website with online shopping via paypal. I figured...what was the point in having a website if i could not use it to it's full potential?
So the new look is now with a shopping cart incorporated and also with new art on the layout!
I still have to finish adding all the purchase buttons but the SALE section is finished and ready to go!Over the coming weeks I will be adding more details to the gallery pages such as purchase buttons, size of artworks etc.

I am also working on some Embellished prints, these are going to be OOAK, no two will be the same. They are also going to be "ready to hang"
I will be listing these on Ebay initially and the to my website.

I do realise that i have not posted for quite some time. Main issue is that I have prepaid wireless broadband and it is soooo expensive!
So with my time online limited somewhat I have started to type up all my posts in notepad and then just copy & paste them once i get online...saves time and money.
I am looking around for the best price on broadband...until i work out exactly who i will signup with i will stick to wireless.

Ok now with the excuses out of the way on with the art!

New Art Auctions on ebay

I have been thinking the last few days as I get all my older works out and ready to be put onto auction.
Although Etsy is a really fantastic marketplace to be I have realised that all of my promoting and marketing my art has been for Etsy and no where else, I have focused my attention too much on the one venue. It is this realisation that has caused me to rethink.
I will be going back to ebay for a time, which means no listing new items on etsy or relisting/renewing. I am not closing my Etsy store, it will still be there but it will not have any items in it once all of my current listings expire.
Obviously if customers want an artwork that is still available i will list it on etsy especially for them as a reserved listing or undergo commissions via etsy if people so wish. I just will not be actively adding work there.
Ok so with all that out in the open on with the rest of the post:

I have managed to find a minor problem with what I previously mentioned - with regards to the finished paintings I hope to acheive per week, at the moment i think 10 is a pretty big ask and although I will still be striving for this I am going to have to hold off on that amount due to school holidays, so after the easter break I will really get my butt in and get these paintings done.

I have not posted an entry on here for soooo long...since last year, it's terrible!
So i thought that i would try and make this a longer post than normal, to make up for the absence of others this year.
I have been thinking very hard about my art and have decided that i should stop dismissing my art as prints so easily, so with that in mind I have
upgraded my Art Wanted account to a premium account that way i am able to offer my art as prints etc.
You may have noticed that my website has changed, it came about when i switched hosts so when i changed that i also changed layout etc.
I removed the gallery from my website and am going to have my gallery on ArtWanted instead, that way i can add art to it far more easily than before.
I have got some really great things happening, i will begin to add my Original Art to Ebay for auction, these will start with the oldest artworks first.
I just found that I have been really overwhelmed with the amount of art that i have in storage, i want to get it all out there and into the homes of those who will appreciate them. I know that it is going to put me in a much better mind set for creating fantastic new artworks which I have begun to get completed.

Sorry but you will all have to wait until I have created at least 10 new artworks before you get a glimpse of anything soooo ....

Once i have done that I will start rolling out the brand new creations.

So my art goals are this:

1. Create at least 10 artworks a week.
(Yes i know this seems like a lot of work to attempt to get done but by artworks i am not really meaning them to be huge oil paintings, they may
include brand new ACEO art or SFA (Small Format Art) such as OSWOA's

2. Create at least 15 sketches a week.
(these will be very loose sketches and will be cleaned up and detailed more once i decide to go further with them and create a finished painting of them.)

3. Auction off at least 5 Original Artworks a week, these will be added to Ebay and will start off with my oldest first, I hope to have them priced really low for the starting price to encourage interest and most importantly the chance for any one to own an original despite their small budget.

4. Auction off at least 5 Open Edition prints a week, i have limited prints at the moment but they will be 8x10 inch and ACEOs, they will possibly start as
$0.99 auctions.

5. Auction off 1 sketch a week, depending on it's success.
These will be really exciting auctions, each auction will show a sketch. The idea is to have people bid on these but not to receive the sketch although it will be included. The auction will be to have each sketch created as a finished painting. Once the bidding has ended I will then use the sketch for the painting. The winning bidder with then have the opportunity to outline how it will be completed, colours, extra details etc.
then once finished the buyer will have a sketch and an Original Artwork!!!

So, what do you think? sounds pretty fantastic right?
I can't wait.
I am not sure when the auctions will begin, it will be soon though, I will post here a week or so before the auctions are set to start, to give everyone a heads up as to what will be auctioned off that week as well as when.
Because I will be auctioning 5 Originals a week I am also going to have 1 out of the 5 be listed as a $0.99 auction, so the twist will be....You are to decide which one.
So when I post the artworks for that week, simply comment on the post which one you want to be the one starting at $0.99. It's just a fun way of getting everyone involved.

Sneek Peek at some new artworks!

I am extremely proud of myself at the moment, I have managed to get 6 artworks done just this month!
Plus I have another artwork almost finished!
I am not entirely sure where this extra motivation has come from and I am not really going to question it too much, otherwise I might find it all disappear!

I am working towards getting my Etsy store revamped and stocked with brand new art, hence the reason for madly getting some art completed.
Some art that has been in my etsy store has not been renewed and instead has been moved to my FaeBae Store:

Ok so as the title of this post suggests I am going to let you take a look at a recent painting ... not too many as I want most to be a surprise!

This artwork has been done in Watercolour and is called Air Faery, yes I know, not very imaginative title but... I am not good with titles so this will have to suffice!

ok the next one is a Gothic artwork, you will notice that It is my new Etsy avatar and also on my new etsy banner:

This one titled: Pink Gothic (yep another brilliantly thought out title :P) done in watercolour using limited colours and done quickly to give it a loose feel to it.

Ok that is it for now...will be working on some more art and including a series of paintings!
I am not going to reveal what the series is just yet, at least not until I have an artwork or two finished.

It has been a little while since i posted, so I thought that I would do so now.
A lot has happened and the biggest thing is the birth of my son, Oliver. He is now 1 week old and doing very well.

I recently made two subfolders on my hard drive, one for october 2009 artworks and one for november 2009 artworks, thankfully i have been organised enough to be able to add to both of these folders!
Ok so this is an artwork that I have added to the November folder, finished yesterday. It took a while to scan in as it was too large for my scanner so had to do it twice and then stitch together, i don't have a great deal of memory so it takes ages for my system to do anything.
But thankfully I got it done eventually to show you.

There are limited colours in this artwork ... brown, olive green, pink and only a tiny amount of yellow. Normally i use a lot of colour in my art but I wanted to go for something different. I love the way she turned out!
I have been working a bit in coloured pencil lately and have realised that I need to save up for some more coloured pencils...It's about time I got some new art supplies...but to get about $220 for the set of prismacolor pencils I want, well that will take a while :(

You have possibly noticed that I have been uploading a few artworks lately and yet have not listed these for sale in my etsy store, they are available but I am planning on a huge etsy store overhaul and will not be listing anything new in my store until it has been revamped and updated, i plan on doing this after the baby is born...only 2 weeks and 1 day to go...he he NOT that i am counting!

New fantasy mixed media artwork finished - Elf and Unicorn

I was hoping to have this up by last night but, my computer is very slow and throws hissy fits on a regular basis. Because the artwork is too big for my scanner i had the task of scanning it in twice and stitching it together.

Ok so here it is Elf Maiden and Unicorn - the title is not very imaginative but i suppose it describes it well enough.

I have been working on getting previously unfinished works finished, that way I can get on with new ideas without the thought of all these poor incomplete paintings sitting around waiting to be finished. This artwork was done using coloured pencil,pastel and watercolour.
