I just think that maybe the different ways in which people are raised make them different and insecure. They point out the bad things in others just to make themselves feel better. It's everywhere.

At the end of the day, a premiere is a premiere. It's not somebody living or dying. So for me, this other stuff - well, the perks is not the reason I do the job. Couture fashion week, getting to meet Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano and Christian Louboutin is so exciting. It's like being a little girl and looking at these designers saying: "Can you imagine one day seeing all of those ball gowns?" But, at the end of the day, I wouldn't be there without my job. There are a few things in life that matter above all else: your family, your friends, your loved ones. But everything else comes and goes - especially in this business where everything is so of the moment.

21. (on where her instinct in acting comes from) I don't know. I think it comes from the fact that I never really thought about acting as a child. It wasn't like: "This is the career that I want to pursue." So when I first started acting, I was more concerned with just being on a set and all of the woes of that, and I didn't really know it or understand it as a craft yet. When I saw my first movie, I was fine, but I thought: "Oh, my heavens. It's not about just standing there on my mark and saying these lines. I need to actually act." It was great to have my first opportunity be such a big role, but also not great because all of the mistakes I made-the entire learning process was on the big screen for everyone to see. That's been something, movie by movie, that I've been able to grow and learn from-that I always need to work harder to be better because it's still a new craft for me…I just did it on my own. I've never worked with an acting coach, but my parents had acting classes and I grew up around them my whole life just because I didn't have a babysitter. I'm actually a very shy person-that's a big secret, so don't tell-but being in those classes pushed me to break out of that a little bit. It's like nature versus nurture: I'm naturally very shy, but I was brought up in a way where I had to get up and get out of that.

22. Yeah, I don't comment on my relationships…My anonymity is something I treasure. Wanting to be an actor and wanting to be famous are different.

23. With acting, I think half of it is just acting confident. We stand on these red carpets and pose in these dresses, but we're all only so confident. It doesn't mean we think we're great looking or anything. It's all a façade.

(on being cast as Carol Ferris in "Green Lantern") It was nice for me that this was a studio that wasn't looking for some girl to have her legs greased up and her boobs out - and that was all that mattered. I imagined that no one else knew anything about "Green Lantern". As soon as I got the role I was humbled about how naive I was. They were grilling me about StarSapphire and Hector Hammond and how many Green Lanterns are going to show up. All I could say was "What are you guys talking about?"

25. I probably feel the most alive when I'm with my family and also when I'm cooking, and those normally coincide with each other. I love to cook for my family, that's the best. I have all my nieces and nephews there, and you really use your hands and it's such an experience for all the senses; for the touch, for the smell, for the sight, so you feel really alive.

28. (on "Savages") It's especially exciting because our movie's released amongst a ton of superhero movies, and a movie like this doesn't normally exist amongst that. But, I look back to the movies that I love from the 70s, those movies were the most successful movies; the best movies were the most successful. And, now the most successful are the ones that everybody goes to see but they're not the critically-acclaimed ones. So, when we made this movie, it is such a graphic, intense, violent, honest film that we knew that we were very much the black sheep. It's not a movie that is appealing to all the masses. It will challenge people, and normally you don't want that because you want people just to pay for your movie so you don't want to challenge everyone; you want to please them all. So, the fact that this movie can stand up amongst those superpowers, all the other films, that's something that I feel really proud of... And still please them but to show that that you can be good and successful.

29. (on the characters in "Savages") I think it's really hard for people to digest that these privileged kids are in a three-way relationship. Your heroes are all sleeping with each other, but they're also in love. It's very easy to dislike them, so when my character gets kidnapped, it's like: "Well, good riddance!" My greatest challenge was to make her life worthy of saving, to find the heart in this story. I started thinking about the state of young people these days. In my character's situation, her mom is off with nine different husbands and her dad left her when she was a kid. She has nobody to learn from, so she's making her own mistakes. Dad takes a hike and now she's hiking up her dress for two guys. You don't think there's a parallel there? These kids are very much the product of this cynical generation.

30. (on her character "O/Ophelia" in "Savages") To play a blond California girl who gets with two men was scary. If it looks like me and talks like me, how do I turn it into something different? It would have been easier if I'd been thrown into the movie with a Scottish accent and purple hair.

Conrad Bain Dead At 89

TV star Conrad Bain, who portrayed the Park Avenue father on the 1978-85 sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes", passed away in his hometown of Livermore, California, on Monday. He was 89.

His daughter, Jennifer Bain, confirmed his death to PEOPLE, and claimed her dad died of natural causes.

"He'd been unconscious for a couple of days, but he was comfortable and it was very peaceful," she told of her dad, who also played the argumentative neighbor on the 1972-78 hit show "Maude".

"I was able to be with him very close to the end (and) able to put my ear to his heart and sing him songs," his daughter continued.

"My father really was a lot like his character in Diff'rent Strokes," his daughter explained. "He had that warmth and stability. He also was a very intellectual person."

She added: "Dad was proud of his work on that show. And the problems the kids had in their lives later affected him. He felt terrible about it." (Bridges struggled with substance-abuse problems, while Coleman, who had personal and financial problems, died in 2010, at the age of 42.)

"Dad had a kind heart," was quoted as saying Jennifer Bain. "He was an open-hearted man."

Besides his daughter, Bain is survived by a twin brother, Bonar Bain, and three sons. Their mother, Bain's wife Monica, died in 2009.

Toni Braxton Heart Disease

Toni Braxton, 45, just before beginning the "Dancing with the Stars" in 2008, she came down with a heart disease called "microvascular angina", also known as cardiac syndrome X.

While appearing on Season 7 of "Dancing with the Stars", Braxton revealed she has been diagnosed with microvascular angina (small vessel disease).

People with microvascular angina suffer pain when doing strenuous workout. Other common symptoms of this heart disease are chest pain, anxiety, fatigue, fever, difficulty in breathing and swelling of legs, ankles and feet. Common medications include analgesics, antibiotics and antifungals.

Braxton revealed to "E! News Now" that after hearing of her new diagnosis, she planned to take a year off to let her body and mind heal but she changed her mind.

It has to be noted that Braxton has previously suffered from pericarditis. Just in case you are not aware of this heart disease, "pericarditis" is an inflammation of the thin sac (membrane) that surrounds the heart called the pericardium. There is a small amount of fluid between the inner and outer layers of the pericardium. When the pericardium becomes inflamed, the amount of fluid between its two layers increases, compressing the heart and interfering with its ability to function properly. There are many people who wonder if Toni Braxton's previous pericarditis caused her microvascular angina. The answer is that pericarditis could not have led to microvascular angina.

Braxton realized that something was going wrong four years ago when she felt exhausted and short of breath, with "tightness" in her chest. She chalked it up to starring in "Aida" and to being a new mother to sons Denim and Diesel. At fist she speculated it was her childhood asthma recurring. Finally, during an "Aida" intermission, (in Toni Braxton's own words) she felt the room "spinning a little bit." She wound up in the emergency room - and learned that she suffered from pericarditis, an inflammation of the lining of the heart. Because of the pericarditis, her heart flutters now. Also, Braxton discovered that she had high blood pressure: 160/105 without medication.

Now Braxton takes a beta-blocker to lower it and walks on a treadmill at least 20 minutes a day. She also tries to cut off her salty favorite foods, like burgers with bacon. Instead she consumes "vinegary salads," asparagus and low-sodium chicken and jambalaya soups.

"You think it's some older guy, retired," Braxton was quoted as saying, who is now serving as a spokeswoman for Campbell Soup Co.'s GoRedWithCampbells.com. (The company is donating $1 to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign for every person who votes for his or her favorite red dress before January 30.) "You can be in your 30s, less than 115 pounds, exercise - and have heart disease," Braxton added.

Braxton wants to make a difference by educating people about the importance of identifying and reducing heart disease risk factors and also motivate others to take action to protect their health.

When you take a look at Toni Braxton, you can't beleive that this woman suffers from a heart disease.

The line is increasingly blurred between news and entertainment. Secondarily, the media's also shoving celebrities down our throats all the time. As a person, I'm much more interested in what an actor has to say about something substantial and important than who they're dating or what clothes they're wearing or some other asinine, insignificant aspect of their life.

38. (when asked by Chris Matthews if what thought about Whoopi Goldberg's remarks at a John Kerry fundraiser that resulted in her being fired as a spokesman for SlimFast) I wasn't there. I went to the Los Angeles fundraiser. I wasn't in the one in New York. I think when you have somebody - you know, if you did a rock concert that was a benefit and The Who played their music or The Rolling Stones, you'd expect to get, you know, "Satisfaction" or "My Generation." When you hire Whoopi Goldberg, you're going to get her brand of humor. And I think there is a fine line, and you have to be a little bit mindful. And I, for one, am not going to do any scatological jokes or puns about the president's last name on your show, mostly for that reason. But I also think I expect a different code of behavior maybe from comedians who have made a career with a certain kind of comedy than I do from, oh, say, the Vice President of the United States (referring to Vice President (Dick Cheney, who told Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy to "Go fuck yourself" on the floor of the Senate), who used this vulgar language, you know, to a senator and was sort of unapologetic about it. So I think the Republicans hitting her (Whoopi) too hard for that is a little bit hypocritical.

39. (told by David Gergen that many were surprised by how well he "elucidated") Well, David, I think I benefit from the same thing that helped George W. Bush in the (2000) debates, which is tremendously low expectations.

40. (when asked why he thought George W. Bush, after hearing that New York was under attack on Sept 11, remained in a Florida classroom, doing nothing, for several minutes) It's obviously very disturbing footage. On the one hand, you see a reaction on a man's face that he is clearly pained and shocked. I probably did the same thing sitting on my chair. I was completely freaked out and a little devastated. On the other hand, one does hope that in one's leaders, that they have the instinct to spring into action, to take some action or make the appearance of taking some action. And I was disappointed to see that he didn't do that, although I don't entirely hold it against him because, frankly, I was as shocked and devastated as he was. Although I think flying around in Air Force One for 11 hours before coming back and landing in the White House was probably less forgivable.

41. When I got to L.A., my family had me go to dinner with this guy who had been acting here for 20 years. He gave me this big lecture and said: "You know how much money I made in 20 years of acting? Eight thousand dollars. And I'm a carpenter." He was just really unhappy and it was depressing. Then he got really stoned and I went home and felt sick. I think it was just morbid fear. I was 18. That fear stays with you so intensely and you're constantly just getting turned down for what you think of as the most vapid, stupid kind of paycheck, "Baywatch" (1989) things, and you think: "Jesus, if I'm not good enough for this, then I'm not going to make it". This town is too hard, and people were always telling me: "You're too big, you're too tall, you can only play bullies and you will never be a leading man".

42. (on his struggles as an actor before becoming successful) I lived all over the place. I lived in Hollywood, then I moved. (Matt Damon) and I got money from School Ties (1992), and we blew it all in a couple of months. We made $35,000 or $40,000 each and thought we were rich. And we were shocked later on to find out how much we owed in taxes. We were appalled: $15,000! What? But we rented this house on the beach in Venice and 800 people came and stayed with us and got drunk. Then we ran out of money and had to get an apartment. It was like everything was exciting. So we lived in Glendale and Eagle Rock and we lived in Hollywood, West Hollywood, Venice, by the Hollywood Bowl, all over the place. We'd get thrown out of some places or we'd have to upgrade or downgrade depending on who had money.

43. It's like Christmas: it's all advertising, and the first rule of selling somebody something is to make them seem inadequate. Make them feel like they need it. Like fabric softener. Nobody really needs fabric softener and yet, all of a sudden, you feel like a jackass if you don't have fabric softener, so people buy it. And that's how Christmas has become, because 50% of all retail sales happen in December. You are bombarded with this stuff - money will make you happy, and keeping up with the Joneses. Obviously that stuff doesn't make you happy, otherwise there wouldn't be all these unhappy rich people. They'd all be happy in their jacuzzis and OK, some of them are.

44. (on his career path and choice of movies) I have definitely noticed that I care less about certain things. Other actors are like: "You can't do that", or "You can't do this. This will position you in the wrong way." That's not my thing. And obviously so, because you can see I don't craft or cultivate my career.

45. I'm not known for having great relationships with ex-girlfriends, but I've been able to continue one with (Gwyneth Paltrow) that's really valuable.

46. (asked by Dee Dee Myers if he thought it was risky for his career to be identified with a particular political party) Unequivocally. Absolutely. And I think that's why, you know, actually, people say: "Well, you see all these celebrities". To my mind, you see very, very few. Most feel like, and probably correctly so, that to be identified with one side of the ideological fence or other risks alienating a segment of your audience that may like your movies, may want to buy your tickets, and in fact, may make it more difficult for them to suspend their disbelief when they go see you in a movie because they have you closely identified with something else. For me, part of that is already compromised, and it's also something that's interesting enough for me, and I don't care quite so much about that kind of image that I'm able to do it. But I think a lot of people shy away from it, and many celebrities you see who've gone out there, tried to be active, have gotten pretty beaten down, you know? And so I think there is a risk, yes.

47. I never know what my next move will be in Hollywood. It's such an unpredictable town. People get jaded and lost and I've been able to stay a float. I think the next logical step in my career would be to start my own filmmaking empire like (Harvey Weinstein) and (Bob Weinstein) did so many years ago. I think if only the unions weren't so strict in Boston, I'd set up shop there and make films of a certain quality you don't see represented these days. I'm full of ideas and dreams.

48. (to Dee Dee Myers, when asked how people react to his campaigning for candidates he supports) Well, I mean, to be perfectly honest, probably the most effective things that celebrities do for political candidates is raise money. You know, that's something that you can do. And unlike, say, fund-raisers sponsored by - you know, engineered by insurance companies or oil companies, at least what you can say for celebrities is they're not expecting, you know, deregulation of their industry in return. So that's one of things that I'm, I've been able to do and to try to help them do it. Other than that, you know, I've lived this sort of strange, sometimes unpleasant, but mostly very lucky life that's involved lately a lot of media attention. And one of the things that feels good to me to do is to try to steer that in a direction of something more significant and at least be - try to create some political dialogue. And that's satisfying. Some people react to me kindly, and others don't. That's sort of the nature of politics.

11. By the first week of shooting, you know exactly where your film is heading based on the psychology of your director.

12. I didn't have any ambition to produce big mainstream popcorn movies.

13. I don't know why people think child actresses in particular are screwed up. I see kids everywhere who are totally bored. I've never been bored a day in my life.

14. I don't know if I see myself as really an action hero, but I like doing physical movies and I like doing movies where the writing is very lean.

36. You develop a third eye where you kind of know where they are in a room at all times but no matter how vigilant you are as a parent, at some point, you'll look around a room and can't find them and there's a searing pain that goes through your body.

37. Love and respect are the most important aspects of parenting, and of all relationships.

38. I've gone through phases of just forgiving your parents for not being as young as they used to be or not being able to do the things they could do before, and I think this film is about forgiveness. It has a real fondness and a real bitterness as well towards family members.

40. There's a kind of intensity that she has, and a real focus… I can glean from her personality that she's going to have a very long career and is going to be a very centered person. You just look at her and go: "Wow, this kid has really got it together", and it's just so nice to see.

53. But these things, you stick with them, work with them, and they bubble up again, eventually.

54. Nobody believes me...She goes through a very interesting journey in the film. One of the most challenging that I've ever done, from trying to keep it together and trying not to become hysterical, to as time goes by, and she starts fearing for her daughter's safety and what might be happening to her, and sort of leading herself in some ways to a kind of madness.

55. It's my job… I wouldn't not promote my movie and you want to get out there and tell people what it's about and to communicate why you loved it.

56. It's a primal thing, this very unconscious place with the fears of what can happen to your children and will you be able to keep them safe. I like all the different levels of fear that she goes through, from feeling like her daughter's out there somewhere, to worrying that somebody is hurting her. Then there's that place of utter desperation where you wonder if you're completely insane. Then there's that final turn, when she turns into a robot who will take anyone down.

57. I'm not making any rules about it… I don't think you really have to. Who knows, maybe I'm retired now! Maybe I'll never work again.

58. You have to make a big effort to try to have a life, and that's important to you only if you spent your entire childhood not having one.

59. And you didn't headline movies at 20. You were able to have a career that built little by little by little. It wasn't just like: "OK, throw them up there, make them a superstar, pay them $10 million a movie and then watch them self-destruct and you don't care because all you need is the three years (of fame)". It was just a different set of rules.

Hathaway is set to star in a new modern film adaptation of "The Taming of the Shrew".

In detail, Hathaway would portray the title character Katherine, the sharp-tongued daughter of a wealthy townsman.

According to The Wrap, the script is being penned by Shame and The Iron Lady screenwriter Abi Morgan.

Needless to say that Shakespeare's 16th century Italian play has been adapted before in Hollywood - the most notable version was Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's 1967 movie.

It has to be noted that Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger's "10 Things I Hate About You is also loosely based on the play".

"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" fans can wave goodbye to Crazy Tony because Mama June has banned the family friend from the TLC show.

According to celebrity website TMZ, June was fed up with Tony Lindsey after he was arrested in November for allegedly dressing in a gorilla suit and scaring freeway drivers.

"We love him as a friend... but that was a crazy story," Mama June was quoted as saying. "Not trying to be mean, but we want to keep it family oriented."

Tony revealed to TMZ he was devastated about the news and added: "TV's changed that family."

Victor Garber has confirmed that he's gay.

Garber, famous for roles in "Alias," "Titanic" and "Legally Blonde", had not been secretive about his sexual orientation, but directly admitted it to an interviewer for the first time at the "Television Critics Association" tour last week.

Asked about an online biography that listed artist and model Rainer Andreesen as his long-time partner, Garber told the site Greg in Hollywood: "I don't really talk about it but everybody knows."

Garber revealed that Andreesen would be with him at the "Screen Actors Guild Awards" later this month.

Megan Fox Toned Post-Baby Body On Esquire Magazine

Megan Fox has gotten her body back in shape after giving birth to her son Noah four months ago.

Fox, 26, proudly showed off her amazing post-baby body on the cover of Esquire magazine.

Fox, who gained just 23lbs during her pregnancy, stripped down to reveal her flat stomach in sexy black underwear, a lacy bra and a buttoned-down cardigan.

Just in case you wonder how Megan shed the pounds, she recently claimed she cut off dairy from her diet for helping shift her baby weight and at last check in December she revealed she still has 10 pounds to go before she returns her pre-pregnancy weight.

It has to be mentioned that Fox, who is married to actor Brian Austin Green, gave birth in September and told Esquire that she is no longer comfortable with being just sex symbol. In fact, Megan wants to be recognized for her talent as an actress.

Fox was quoted as saying: "I felt powerless in that image. I didn't feel powerful. It ate every other part of my personality, not for me but for how people saw me, because there was nothing else to see or know. That devalued me. Because I wasn't anything. I was an image. I was a picture. I was a pose."

Fox revealed that while she may have a sexy image, she is actually quite conservative.

Fox admitted of her clean ways: "I can't stand pills. I don't like drinking. I don't like feeling out of control. I have to feel like I'm in control of my body. And I know what you're thinking, Then why would I want to go to church and speak in tongues?"

It has to be noted that Megan is a regular attendee of religious services and was brought up as a Christian, a way of life she still embraces till now.

Fox explained: "You have to understand, there I feel safe. I was raised to believe that you're safe in God's hands. But I don't feel safe with myself."

Megan also opened up about the process of removing her Marilyn Monroe tattoo from her arm.

Megan claimed: "I started reading about her and realized that her life was incredibly difficult. It's like when you visualize something for your future. I didn't want to visualize something so negative. She wasn't powerful at the time. She was sort of like Lindsay (Lohan). She was an actress who wasn't reliable, who almost wasn't insurable.... She had all the potential in the world, and it was squandered. I'm not interested in following in those footsteps."

As to who inspires Megan, the answer is: "Ava Gardner. She had power. She was a broad. She got what she wanted and said what she needed."

Megan also hinted that she is thinking of leaving showbiz to become an archaeologist.

Fox revealed: "Films don't hold the answers I'm looking for.... Would you not be so much more interested in finding out that bigfoot existed than in watching a really good movie?"

Katie Price To Get Married After Christmas Engagement To Kieran Hayler

Katie Price, 34, got engaged to Kieran Hayler, 25, on Christmas Day after dating for just a few weeks and now it looks like they set to wed this week.

According to reports, the couple have jetted to the Caribbean to find a wedding venue and are planning to tie the knot in just a few days, after a whirlwind romance.

Apparently in a hurry to make it official, the pair could get married after meeting and less than a year after she called off her engagement to Leandro Penna.

A source close to Price revealed to The Daily Mirror: "Katie shocked everyone when she announced their plans to tie the knot so quickly. The fact that they were engaged seemed to come out of the blue. Now, before that had time to sink in, she's whisking him away to get married."

"Hardly any of her pals are invited. But they are planning to come back and do the big showbiz version, probably with a mag deal and all the trimmings, once they're husband and wife," the source continued."

She joked that this marriage will be third time lucky. Some of her mates aren't so sure, the source added.

Katie admitted that Hayler had popped the question over the festive period, telling The Sun: "Kieran and I talked about marriage a few times and he proposed to me at Christmas over dinner. It just feels right. I know what people will say because I've heard it all before. But life is short so when something feels right, I just go for it."

According to reports, Price and Hayler are in the process of finding somewhere private to wed in an intimate ceremony, trying to stay away from the public eye.

On the other hand, the couple were more than happy to announce publicly their affair just a few weeks ago as they shared photos of themselves kissing on their respective Twitter pages.

According to reports, "Terminator 2" actor Edward Furlong was arrested this weekend on suspicion of attacking his girlfriend. This is actually the third time he has been accused of domestic violence in three months!

According to law enforcement sources, Furlong was popped in L.A. Sunday morning around 5:45 AM. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, stemming from one of his prior domestic violence incidents.

It has to be noted that Furlong is still in custody.

Just in case you have missed it, Furlong was previously arrested in October following a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend at LAX when he allegedly bruised her up during an argument at the airport. Furlong was subsequently accused of another domestic violence incident in November.

1. Ichi the Killer

Ichi adalah sebuah judul seri manga yang terbit pada 1998 hingga 2001. Tokoh utamanya benama sama dengan judul manganya, Ichi, yang digambarkan sebagai pribadi pendiam dan pengecut. Namun semua itu berubah ketika ia marah, Ichi berubah menjadi pembunuh berdarah dingin. Cerita berawal dari tokoh yang bernama Jijii yang memanipulasi ingatan Ichi dengan mengimplan kenangan palsu. Dengan begitu, Jijii bisa membangkitkan amarah Ichi untuk menyerang dan mengalahkan Yakuza agar ia sendiri berkuasa.

Film ini mendapat respon positif dari para kritikus film. Respon serupa ditunjukan para penonton dengan mendapat rating sebesar 7,1 dari 10 rating yang ada di Internet Movie Database dan 82% respon positif di rottentomatoes.com. Sonik harus mengumpulkan keberanian jika ingin menonton film ini, karena banyak adengan berdarah-darahnya. Hiiiiii…..

2. Speed Racer

Speed Racer terkenal hingga ke seluruh dunia ketika serial kartun atau animenya munsul pada tahun 1968. Dan pada 2008, Wachowski bersaudara mencoba mengangkat kepopuleran “Speed Racer” kembali dengan mengangkatnya ke sebuah film. Speed Racer menceritakan kisah tentang seorang pemuda yang bernama Speed, berjuang di lintasan balap mobil untuk mengungkap kejahatan dan korupsi di dalam Grand Prix ini. Kecerdikan dan kegigihan Speed harus diuji ketika harus melawan Rex, kakaknya sediri yang terperangkap konspirasi.

Diproduseri oleh Joel Silver yang terkenal, Speed Racer memenagkan Piala Oscar sebagai Desain Efek Terbaik. Film ini juga masuk dalam kategori 25 Film Olah raga terbaik sepanjang masa. Namun keberhasilan itu tidak diikuti oleh keuntungan dalam penghasilan film. Film yang menghabiskan dana sebesar $ 120 Juta, hanya bisa meraup keuntungan sebesar $ 115 Juta.

3. Shogun Assasin

Shogun Assasin adalah film dirilis pada 1980 ini di, diadaptasi dari manga berjudul Lone Wolf dan Cub yang terbit pada 1970. Film ini berkisah tentang seorang Samurai yang diburu oleh Shogun. Istrinya terbunuh, namun Sang Samurai berhasil selamat dengan Kiri, anaknya yang baru berumur 3 tahun. Samurai menjadi pembunuh bayaran untuk menhidupi anaknya sampai ia bisa membalaskan dendamnya terhadap Shogun.

Didalam dfilm ini terda[at banyak unsur kekerasan, sehingga sempat dilarang tayang di Inggris. Barulah dengan sedikit mengedit beberapa adegan, film ini bisa kembali tayang pada tahun 2000. Film Shoghun Assasin juga membuat trend perfilman berubah, Contohnya film garapan Quentine Tarantino yang bejudul Kill Bill yang banyak terinspirsai dari film tersebut.

4. Astro Boy

Film ini berkisah tentang seorang anak bernama Toby yang terbunuh oleh robot perang ciptaan ayahnya sendiri. Ayah Toby yang merasa kehilangan membuat kloning robot Toby dan mengunakan beberapa helai rambut untuk menanamkan DNA dan kenangan yang menyebabkan robot ini bisa berfikir layaknya manusia biasa. Toby terus berjuang mencari jati diri, dan akhirnya ia haru berjuang melawan pejabat pemerintah yang korup dan ingin menguasai dunia.

Film yang diadaptasi dari manga Astro Boy terbitan tahun 1951 ini sama halnya dengan film Speed Racer, film ini tidak terlalu sukses di Amerika. Berbeda dengan di China, Astro Boy berhasil mencetak rekor box office untuk kategori film animasi. Meskipun tidak meledak dipasaran, film ini menerika review yang positif dari para kritikus.

5. Death Note

Seri Manga ini pertama kali diterbitkan pada 200. Lalu pada 2006 diangkat menjadi sebuah film dengan judul yang sama, Death Note. Film ini berkisah tentah seorang siswa SMA bernama Light yang menemukan buku supranatural. Buku ini bisa membuat siapaun mati jika menuliskan namanya di buku tersebut. Awalnya buku yang berasal dari dewa kematian yang bernama Ryuk ini digunakan Light untuk membunuh para penjahat. Kejadian semakin rumit ketila detektif yang berinisial L yang dianggap sebagai detektif terbaik di dunia, mulai mencium sesuatu yang aneh. Light sadar bahwa ia adalah target dari detektif L, yang sudah curiga dengan kematian-kematian para penjahat di Jepang.

Death Note memuncaki box office di Jepang pada 2006 dengan pengasilan bersih sebesar $ 41 Juta. Film ini juga dirilis Amerika secara terbatas. Namun pada 2009 pihak Warner Bros sudah memperoleh hak cipta dan mengumumkan pada 2011, bahwa mereka akan me-remake film tersebut. Gosipnya tokoh Light akan diperankan oleh Zac Efron. Hampir 14.000 pengguna di Internet Movie Database meberikan rating 7.8, cukup mengagumkan bukan?.

6. Azumi

Manga Azumi dipasarkan pada tahun 1994. Azumi adalah perempuan muda yang memiliki bakat bela diri dan didakwa bersalah atas pembunuhan panglima perang yang mengancam perdamaian dunia. Tokoh Azumi menggambarkan sifat pencerah dan kebebasan dari keterikatan pada benda yang bersifat duniawi. Dia berdiri kontras denga para pembunuh lainya yang hanya mengejar harta dan kekuasaan.

Film adaptasi dari manga ini pertama kali dirilas pada 2003, menyusul kemudian sekuel keduanya pada 2005. Pada 2006, film Azumi dirilis di Amerika Serikat meski pasaranya terbatas. Meskipun mendapat kritikan dari pemgamat film, Azuma berhasil penghargaan dari Academy Award Jepang pada 2004, Festival Film Internasional Boston dan Festival Film Philadelphia di Amerika Serikat.

7. Ruroni Kenshin

"Rurouni Kenshin" berkisah tentang samurai bernama Kenshin Himura yang hidup bertahun-tahun sebagai pembunuh. Samurai yang punya codet berbentuk "X" di pipinya itu dikenal sebagai "Battousai" alias si pembantai.Kenshin ingin bertobat, melupakan masa lalunya yang kelam dan berjanji tidak akan melenyapkan nyawa orang lagi.

Film adaptasi live-action Rurouni Kenshin yang disutradarai oleh Keishi Ootomo berdasarkan manga karya Nobuhiro Watsuki telah ditonton lebih dari 2 juta kali selama 27 hari pemutarannya di Jepang. Film ini juga telah meraup keuntungan lebih dari 2,5 miliar yen (sekitar 32,1 juta dolar) hingga tanggal 21 September kemarin. Saat pemutaran perdananya pada tanggal 25 Agustus lalu, film ini berhasil melakukan debut di peringkat pertama, dan kini peringkat film ini telah turun ke peringkat ke-4 untuk akhir pekan tanggal 22-23 September kemarin.

8. Ghost in The Shell

Manga Ghost in the Shell diterbitkan pada 1989 hingga 1997, kemudian diadaptasi dengan judul yang sama pada 1994. Film ini berkisah tentang seorang perwira yang bertugas untuk melacak dan menangkap hacker misterius yang dikenal sebagai The Puppet Master pada tahun 2029. Ia bekerja sama dengan wanita cybrorg yang tidak memiliki sel otak namun memiliki “Hantu” di dalam tubuhnya, untuk mengungkap konspirasi pemerintah yang luas yang lebik pelik dan The Master Puppet.

Film adaptasi ini mendapat pujian pada saat itu karena berhasil menyatukan teknik komputerisadi dan animasi. Bebarapa tokoh sutradara seperti Wachowski bersaudara dan James Cameron (sutradara fim Titanic dan Avatar) memuji film ini dan menyatakan minatnya untuk berkerja sama.

9. Old Boy

Old Boy adalah serial manga yang beredar pada tahun 1996 hingga 1998. Lalu manga ini diadaptasi menjadi sebuah film di Korea Selatan yang dirilis pada 2003. Film ini meraih sukses penghargaan Grand Prix di Festical Film Cannes, Perancis dan menerima pujian dari sutradara terkenal Quentine Tarantino. Mendapat banyak pujian, film terlaris kelima di Korea Selatan pada 2003 ini tidak mendapatkan kessuksesan di Box Office, Amerika. Namun sedikit terobati dengan meraup untung bersih sebesar $ 15 juta dari penjualannya seluruh dunia.

Film ini berkisah tentang seorang tokoh bernama Oh Dae-su yang diculik dan dimasukan kedalam sel isolasi tanpa penjelasan. Sebelum dipenjarakan, ia dituduh menjadi tersangka utama atas pembunuhan istrinya. Di dalam sel ia berlatih dengan memukulkan tangannya ke dinding dan belajar shadowboxing. Setelah 15 tahun, ia berhasil menggali dinding untuk kabur. Namun tiba-tiba ia tersadar dan menemukan dirinya berbaring di atap gedung dengan pakaian mengenakan setelan jas. Lalu ia bertekad memburu orang-orang yang berkaitan dengan penculikan dan pembunuhan istrinya untuk mengelahui motif serta membalas dendam.

10. Princess Mononoke

Latar belakang film ini berkisah tentang seorang prajurit muda bernama Ashitaka yang berjuang untuk melindungi desanya dari serangan iblis. Namun ditengah perjuangannya ia tertimpa sebuah kutukan yang mengaruskannya melakukan perjalan ke Hutan Barat untuk melenyapkan kutukan tersebut. Di Hutan Barat, ia menemukan situasi yang pelik saat The Lady Eboshy yang ambisius bersama klan setianya berperang melawan para dewa hutan dan seorang wanita muda pemberani, Princess Mononoke yang dibesarkan oleh dewa serigala.

Film yang berjudul aslinya Mononoke-hime dibuatkan versi bahasa Inggris dan berhasil meraup keuntungan bersih sebesar $ 148 juta dari penjualannya diseluruh dunia. Di situs imdb.com mendapatkan rating sebesar 8,4 dari 10 dari 113,547 pengguna internet.
