American Werewolf in London (1981) Horror,Comedy

noreply@blogger.com (Dreamwalker) — Fri, 25 Dec 2009 17:49:00 +0000

Short Description
One of the most gripping horror films of all-time, cult classic.
Blending the macabre with a wicked sense of humor, director John Landis delivers a contemporary take on the classic werewolf tale in this story of two American tourists who, while traveling in London, find their lives changed forever when a viscious wolf attacks them during a full moon.
There has never been a greater werewolf film, there has never been a better transformation scene, and few horror movies can match the entertaining mixture of humor and scares that John Landis achieved here.

Back to the Future (1985) Adventure,Action,Sci-Fi

noreply@blogger.com (Dreamwalker) — Wed, 23 Dec 2009 14:01:00 +0000

Short Description
Michael J. Fox plays Marty McFly, who accidentally gets sent back in time from 1985 to 1955 in a time machine that also happens to be a DeLorean automobile. The problem is to get enough of an electrical charge to get back to 1985, while leaving 1955 as it was. In the process, Marty meets his parents, jeopardizes their relationship, and risks his own existance. Marty McFly is the part Fox was born to play, but there are other great performances here, as well. Christopher Lloyd is excellent as "Doc" Brown, and Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas Wilson also help to make this a very entertaining movie.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Adventure,Action

noreply@blogger.com (Dreamwalker) — Wed, 23 Dec 2009 00:36:00 +0000

Short Description
Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is no ordinary archeologist. When we first see him, he is somewhere in the Peruvian jungle in 1936, running a booby-trapped gauntlet (complete with an over-sized rolling boulder) to fetch a solid-gold idol. He loses this artifact to his chief rival, a French archeologist named Belloq (Paul Freeman), who then prepares to kill Indiana. In the first of many serial-like escapes, Indy eludes Belloq by hopping into a convenient plane. So, then: is Indiana Jones afraid of anything? Yes, snakes.
The next time we see Jones, he's a soft-spoken, bespectacled professor. He is then summoned from his ivy-covered environs by Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) to find the long-lost Ark of the Covenant. The Nazis, it seems, are already searching for the Ark, which the mystical-minded Hitler hopes to use to make his stormtroopers invincible.
But to find the Ark, Indy must first secure a medallion kept under the protection of Indy's old friend Abner Ravenwood, whose daughter, Marion (Karen Allen), evidently has a "history" with Jones.
Whatever their personal differences, Indy and Marion become partners in one action-packed adventure after another, ranging from wandering the snake pits of the Well of Souls to surviving the pyrotechnic unearthing of the sacred Ark.
A joint project of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, Raiders of the Lost Ark is a very entertaining movie.

Police Academy (1984) Comedy,Action

noreply@blogger.com (Dreamwalker) — Tue, 22 Dec 2009 21:01:00 +0000

Short Description
The new Mayor has relaxed the standards for new recruits to enter the Police Academy. Now, anyone can sign up, and people who would have never considered joining the police force are now attempting to do just that.
Included in this group is Carey Mahoney (Steve Guttenberg). Mahoney cannot seem to stay out of trouble with the law (petty stuff, really, nothing malicious), and he is given the choice to either join the Police Academy or go to jail.
Along with Mahoney, the Police Academy has several other zany new recruits, among them is the gun loving Tackleberry (David Graf), the soft voiced Hooks (Marion Ramsey), a man with a talent for imitating nearly any sound effect in Jones (Michael Winslow), and also Karen Thompson (Kim Cattrall) who appears as Mahoney's love interest.
"Police Academy" has something of a slapstick comedy. It is very lighthearted, and the characters are very likeable.
Very enjoyable movie.

The Gods Must Be Crazy is a delightfully funny movie. It is about an African bushman who discovers an empty Coca Cola bottle that has been thrown from an airplane and the Bushman believes that anything that comes from the sky must be from the Gods. He has no idea what it is or what its purpose is. He eventually starts calling it "the evil thing" when his family wants to use it for themselves and squabbles develop. There are several side stories, as well. This makes you wonder how much "civilization "has improved our lives.
