Not only that, I felt that I had enough of CT where I didn't have close family there anymore.

The only route that I could see was to move close to my sister in up state NY where I believe would be a more welcome outcome overall. After all the Triple Cities is where I originally came from so I at least would be familiar somewhat on how to get around. My sister and I have become closer through the years... I was definitely looking forward to being family to her and my brother-in-law.

Then came the logistics of actually moving which was truly an adventure in itself. I couldn't see paying a mover to move all my stuff into the apartment I found in NY, it would have been cost prohibitive. So I started to move whatever I could stuff into my van and take the trips back and forth. I managed to move quite a few things by myself but after 4 trips and wear and tear on the car it was time to move the 'big' stuff.

It was obvious I had to rent a truck to move my stuff plus my van and at the same time personally pack everything myself. I needed a ton of boxes so I went to the grocery store for boxes... no luck... a lot of vendors, to save money, take back their boxes. Here's something I found though.... I got most of my boxes from dumpsters behind commercial retail stores. Got most from behind Duncan Donuts and Wall Mart.

Moving is never easy especially when there's a lot to move. I chose to rent a truck from U-Haul because it seemed convenient (they weren't too far from me).

Tips on Renting a U-Haul Truck

I didn't want to use a credit card and wanted to pay cash. They still demanded a credit card to cover any mishaps and it was ok to use cash but remember they will use the card if there if you are negligent in keeping the truck clean upon returning it

They suggest insurance (not mandatory) and they have 3 different prices for the truck and 3 prices for a auto dolly like I had... take the cheapest price for each.... you are covered.

They offer blanket covers and I was charged one dollar apiece. I took 12 and used them.

There are many other accessories that they offer for a price. Tie downs, bubble pack, boxes (you should be all packed before you rent the truck!) I didn't use any other accessory except for the blankets.

For mileage they give you 262 miles (as of this writing) and charge you 40 cents per mile after that.... that can add up fast, so pick the shortest route to final destination carefully.

You will be charged $30 extra if you leave the truck dirty or messy. Sweep it out if you can and if you use the blanket option they require that you fold them neatly.

Before driving off with the truck be sure to familiarize yourself with all of the controls and read everything in the cabin, you don't want to be fussing around with knobs while driving.

If you are adding an auto dolly and towing another vehicle, it's a good idea to practice backing up in a large clear parking lot so you get an idea how it works. Turn left, the dolly goes right and vise versa.

I almost rented the 14 foot truck as opposed a 17 footer. Hey for about $20 more you get a lot bigger truck... boy, I'm sure glad I rented the bigger one.

I never drove a truck, let alone a 19 foot truck, including the cab. Then you got to think about a car being towed behind that. Frankly, I was a bit nervous but after coming through it all... it was pretty easy, if I can do it... anyone can.

I didn't mention the guys that actually packed and unpacked the truck. All I did was to go on Craigslist and checked out manual labor/movers and I was able to hire guys on both ends of my move who were very efficient on time and resonable. I was very happy, although tired with the whole move and I saved a ton of money attempting it myself. Good luck with your move.
If you own a large vehicle you are in luck as you can offer a service of transporting stuff for companies large or small. Your moving service could be an advantage because you are able to transport for others during their inopportune time having sent their employees home or maybe it’s needed on a weekend.

Larger moving companies charge a large sum to move a family’s or business possessions across a long distance. If a move is close to home it would be to your business advantage. There are opportunities for you with your large vehicle that will suffice for a move that is not so distant and don’t require a tremendous amount of things to move.

Some of the situations that your service can be beneficial would be moving children’s items to a local college, spring cleaning, dump transfer, unwanted stuff to Salvation Army or local charity. Actually, any items that won’t easily fit into a smaller car would spell business for you.

If you can set up a few moves during a weekend you can easily make two or three hundred dollars. One bonus a friend of mine has found is that we are a throw out society and he has found quite a few valuable items folks just want to get rid of but are of value.

What to charge for your service? That’s up to you. Consider the mileage involved (note: this is a business and you can deduct your mileage off your taxes, including other expenses, consult with your tax adviser), the amount of things you have to move, difficulty of moving the items, etc. Offer a written quote for your services and have it signed before you move anything.

How Do You Get Business?

You can always advertise in the newspaper and if your local town has a “shopper” type of newsletter you can also advertise there at a lower rate. If you are serious, invest in a Yellow Page ad. Try bulletin boards at banks or your local grocery store. Craigslist.com has a classified area for listing services available you should use. Another thing you might try is to add a sticker to your vehicle’s window or outside door. Once you have generated some business, have a business card produced and hand it out to anyone interested.

Once you have gone through a couple of moving experiences and have given great customer service you will have more easy moving jobs than you will know what to do with.

Franklin D. Roosevelt" rel="musicbrainz" class="zem_slink">Franklin Roosevelt made it illegal for Americans to buy and stock gold.
However, 40 years later, there ban was lifted and the buying and trading of gold as a commodity became a possibility in the USA Gold Market.

Facts about the USA Gold Market:

The Great Depression in the United States was the primary reason for the ban. The supply of gold was declining gradually and the U.S. gold reserves were decreasing. According to the then enacted law, owning more than $100 in gold was illegal. Therefore, people had to exchange their gold for money. The Treasury Department of the United States converted gold coins into bars. This helped to keep the U.S. dollar alive.

Earlier, the wealthy and aristocratic European and Asian families held a large percentage of their assets in gold. This was more as a means of protection. Over the years, Americans followed the same logic especially the upper middle class.

Many investors in the United States buy gold not because of the fear that the prices will rise, but because of insuring their portfolios from crashing that has a relation to currency degradation. The currency might be from any part of the world including the dollar, euro, yen, or rupee. Individuals who run their own business invest heavily in gold. Individuals with family wealth have moved to diversify their investments into gold in recent years.

A professional gold dealers can help investors avoid problems and give them the right direction. The most crucial element for Americans, who wish to invest in gold, is choosing the correct gold firm from the USA Gold industry.

The biggest mistake that investors make here is they buy gold that has little or no relationship to their objectives. Gold stocks too get a place in the portfolios of individuals. However, they are not a substitute for real gold ownership. There is a significant difference in owning stocks and owning metal.Americans who wish to protect themselves against inflation, deflation, potential currency problems, and stock market volatility or who wish to counter financial uncertainties turn to only one portfolio item that is gold.

About the Author:

Content writer at Inter-Dev, Internet marketing company & SEO company.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/investing-articles/usa-gold-industry-694992.html

How To Use A Credit Card That Makes Money For You

Most likely you have at least one credit card that you use
for the convenience of purchasing items without using cash.
Seems like money power using a plastic key.
Problem is, you have used that convenience too often
and when the bill comes you can't pay the balance,
you only pay the minimum. Continue with that scenario
will be financial devastation. But you're smart, kept up
with your credit card payments and you're close to
zero balance. You're looking to pay off the credit card
and remove it from your debt.

Bit wait! You can use your card to your advantage.

If you have good credit, you can make money using
your credit card. Credit card companies love to grant money |
to folks who have good credit. If you have good credit,
you may have noticed that you receive 'junk mail' stating
that you can cash a check from them and for a period
of time (6 or 7months in my case) they will offer
0% interest on this money.

Take the offer and cash their check and deposit it
into your checking account. Granted, doing this,
you receive a monthly bill for the transaction,
but your monthly payment has 0% interest
added to the payment.

Now here's the best part... before you cash the check,
sign up for a high interest earning savings account.
As of this writing I recommend three online
banking accounts: www.etrade.com,
www.ingdirect.com or www.emigrantdirect.com
Check which one gives you the highest interest
savings rate and sign up using your checking
account as the deposit vehicle.

Transfer the money you deposited into your
personal checking account from the money
you got from your credit card check to the
online savings account you chose.
The more money your credit card company
allows you to receive the more interest you'll
gain on your money (check to see what they
charge for a fee for doing this). After the
0% time is up you pay off the card loan from
your savings account, reaping what you have
gained from the interest earned in your savings account.

Chances are that if you have good credit at the end
of the term the credit card company (or another
credit card company) will allow you to pay off the
balance and continue with another 0% offer for
another 6-7 months.

Why do these companies do this?
Statistically they know most folks will use their
card for purchases whereby they make money.
So here's what you do... don't use the card at all
or if you do make a small purchase with the card
make sure that you don't go over your limit and
pay your minimum payment every month.

I have been doing this for a couple of years and
it's an easy way to receive passive interest income.

Ways To Save Money Shopping Online

by Brian U. Kim

Did you know if you shop online, you could be saving hundreds of dollars compared to going directly to the nearest retailer? There are many advantages to shopping online: you don't have to pay taxes, you can comparison shop, check out reviews and use coupon codes to save you a lot of money. Free Articles Aside from the fact that you cannot feel and handle the product and that it takes longer to get the product, possibly the only disadvantage, if you are an avid shopper you can obtain significant savings by shopping online.

The first advantage is saving money on taxes. If the merchant you are purchasing from does not have a local presence in your state you do not have to pay taxes. For example, Amazon charges sales tax for orders shipped to the states of Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, & Washington. If you don't live in those states you can buy a product from Amazon and save your money on sales taxes. When you decide to buy a product from an online merchant, make sure you read the fine print about where they have a local presence. If two merchants, retailer A and retailer B, offer the same product for the same price and retailer A is the only retailer out of the two that has a local presence, then you should definitely choose merchant B as your shopping target since you could save on sales taxes.

Of course, saving money on taxes is not just the only benefit. Before you shop online I recommend comparison shopping. There are many sites that can can help you comparison shop: epinons, mysimon, bizrate, froogle. All these comparison sites may have different merchants on their list so it's good to try them all if you know exactly what you are looking for. Not only do they offer different price comparisons on products, some of these sites also provide excellent reviews on products. If you cannot find good reviews on the product you want, I recommend Amazon. Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers and, because of this, they have the most product reviews on every item that you can think of. There have been many times where I've changed my mind about a product after reading product reviews on Amazon.

Perhaps the most exciting way about saving money online is finding a good deal and/or using coupon codes from sites like Cheap-buys.com. What are coupon codes? They are text entries that you can input on a merchant's shopping cart when checking out to receive a discount for your purchases. Almost all merchants have a input box for entering coupon codes as the user wants to check out. Now a lot of times you need to search for these coupon codes on the web since they don't make it so obvious for the user to find. Why do these merchants provide coupon codes? Sometimes they want to boost their sales by telling other websites (affiliates) to promote their coupon codes. When a user visits the affiliate site they will see that they can save an additional percentage by using the coupon code and therefore the consumer is more likely to make a purchase since they can save additional money. Some of these coupon codes are for a limited time only and must be used quickly. For example, Dell once used to have a promotional coupon code for $750 off their laptops. It had a user limit and it expired within hours since the demand was extremely high.

I hope I have provided you with the right weapons for your next shopping spree. For additional tips on shopping and for coupon codes to save you money you can visit websites such as cheap-buys.com or webcouponcodes.com. By golly, you are likely to save more than a few bucks and bring a smile to your face!

About the AuthorBrian Kim is the webmaster of several coupon and deals sites:
http://www.cheap-buys.com
http://www.webcouponcodes.com

A Great Way to Make Extra Money Online

A while back my sister and I were talking about eBay and how our auctions were coming along. We both were selling things that we found around the house that we no longer needed. The problem was that after a short period of time you run out of things to sell. My sister was mainly selling used books and suggested that maybe we could write a book together and sell that on eBay.

Sis had a lot of recipes that she had accumulated throughout the years from my mother and grandmother and were all Ukrainian ethnic food recipes (we are Ukrainian). A very niche cookbook we thought.

She took the time to compile them and typed the recipes out and sent them to me where I put together our cookbook in pdf format. It was a nice project for us because it was a fun creative effort that was exciting for us. Neither one of us did something like that before.

There was a learning curve for both of us and the whole project took about a weeks worth of time. You can see the fruits of our labor here. I truly believe that anyone could write their own ebook and sell it online. Once put in place on a website or eBay and someone buys one it is simple to send them a copy. No shipping charges!

If you have an idea for your own book, it is pretty simple to put one together and sell it online. It just takes some of your time for research and typing.

Can you really save time?

by Robert Tutsky

Time is one of those things we all must go through during a day. Problem is, there never seems to be enough of it. Can you save yourself time? No you can't. Time continues on and is eternal, once you have passed into the next millisecond the previous one is lost forever. As you can see we can't save time but we can ultimately harness it's power in our lives by how we manage the time that is given to us. By managing our time effectively we get more done and enjoy the time alloted to us. Some things to help manage time:

Write your thoughts down. At the beginning of a week schedule as best as you can what you wish to accomplish on a daily basis. Your entries don't have to be carved in stone, they can be altered or added to later. Trying your best to follow your schedule will make you feel good when you finish a project. You'll find more can be accomplished this way.

Don't get bogged down waiting. During a day you wait for a lot to happen. Use that waiting time to your advantage. Just turning on your computer you have to wait for it boot up, why not spend that time tiding up your work space? I'm sure you can find other ways to take advantage of waiting times.

Don't procrastinate. I know procrastination can be difficult to overcome but one step towards action will get you going to your end and if small steps are taken along the way it becomes easier to finish what needs to be done. Say to yourself, if I don't do it, it won't get done.

Pay attention what works for you. You may find yourself jumping from one thing to another, not finishing anything. If that's you, slow down and work on one project until it's finished before moving on to another.

Ignore trivial interruptions. You are in the middle of a project that needs to be done and the phone rings, let the answering machine work for you. Call back later at a more convenient time.

Don't try to control everything around you. Doing so you will soon find yourself burned out quickly. Work with what you know first then as time moves on, other things will fall into place naturally.

Use your computer as a tool. If you need to work at your computer for business check your email only twice a day. Mid morning and mid afternoon should be sufficient. Random surfing can waste time and realize that once you start surfing on the net it's hard to break in to what's really important. Try to only search for what you need during your working time.

Reward yourself. You find that you have accomplished what you set out to do for the week and you feel good about it. Take a day off and rejuvenate. You'll find more energy and a clear mindset next time you start again.

Remember, no one can actually save time, but using time wisely we find our lives fruitful and joyful.

7 Ways to Save Money by Using a Shopping System

Here are some great ways to streamline your shopping making it seem almost effortless.

If at all possible try to combine a shopping trip to multiple stores if you indeed plan on purchasing items from different places. You will save on gas by combining your trip and also save time.

Make sure you have all your valid coupons in hand when leaving home. As for using coupons I will buy a store brand that is lower in cost. If I know that the name brand is vastly superior to the store brand I might consider paying a bit more within reason. Although I found that I can get used to the lower priced store brand quality with no problems.

If you return bottles or cans, remember to take them before you leave. I bring my empties in a large garbage bag and it keeps the empties together. Take the empty bag with you shopping and bring it back home to be reused for a trash bag.

To help from over spending on items you really don't need, take only the cash you feel you will need with you. Believe me, you won't miss those items after you get home.

Always take a list and stick to it without buying those impulse items, especially near the end of aisles of at checkout. I do the grocery shopping every week and know were most of the items are in each aisle. It's a lot easier if you chronologically list your items, you will save time not having to go back to an aisle looking for something you passed up and a chance of grabbing another item you really didn't want.

Some stores offer buy one get two or more. Take advantage of this if you know that you will use the items before they are past expiration or will spoil in a short time. Store brands of items like paper towels are great to look for sold like this.

When grocery shopping go solo. Having the kids, spouse and you all looking at different items can make it difficult to adhere to a shopping list. You'll be at the checkout with three times what you originally expected. I know, I've been there.

Planning a shopping trip carefully will ensure a fun and enjoyable shopping experience.

Learn How to Click and Earn Easy Money

Yes, there is a way to simply click links and earn money. You're not going to get rich with this but this method of earning money is quite easy. At the start of this program I spent a total of a half hour of my lunch time in front of my computer and have earned about $12. Spending lunch time over a few days and when I checked, it's up to about $40 for pretty much simple point and click. I'm presently not spending a lot of time with this because I've got a lot of other things that are pressing at this time. You might want to get involved more deeply. This works!

If you haven't guessed yet, what I'm talking about is completing simple surveys from companies willing to pay for consumers to view their offerings. You're clicking on their dime.

To participate in the program is free and most offers are also free. Some offers will pay you more if you sign up for whatever they're offering but they require a credit card. I've stayed away from them because I don't want to complicate my life by having to cancel the offer later. You can easily make money with CashCrate without using a credit card.

There's more than a few survey websites to hook up to but CashCrate is easier to work with and they're legit. They do offer a referral option that bumps up your earnings if you obtain referrals willing to participate in the program.

You receive a check in the mail when you receive a minimum of $10 showing in your account (checks are released the middle of each month if you have $10 or more in your account). There are those that have little but are rich in how they view the world and their place in it and I believe it's important to value what God has given you. Striving to better your situation in life is not a bad thing, it's what you should be doing with your life. This article touches on a few of these ideas.

by Aaron Kater

Rich people: fortunate, lucky, selfish, and arrogant? Or highly educated, caring, brilliant individuals? Becoming rich isn’t hard, but it does require a bit of time and knowledge. Having time to get rich, educating oneself, and buying assets are the three key factors in attaining untold wealth.

Rich people usually either have or make time to get rich. Most people that now own huge mansions, have wonderful riches, and drive the nicest cars usually begin taking the road to riches in their spare time. One plan, the most common, is to work at a low-risk, steady job until one has enough money to invest in something that will feed one for the rest of their life. But before one can invest in anything, one first has to educate oneself.

Although the best way to educate oneself in a particular investment is to have a mentor, and thereby gaining valuable hands-on experience, another excellent way to do this is to listen to tapes and CDs and to read books on the subject. I have done both, mainly pertaining to real estate, but also I have read a wonderful book about making money on the Internet, called Multiple Streams of Internet Income, by Robert Allen.

Lastly, after creating time to get rich, and educating oneself, one simply MUST buy assets that will create money for one, and not liabilities and toys such as a new car every other year, and boats. These come only after one can prove that he is capable of handling and keeping money. Simply put, according to multi-millionaire Robert Kiyosaki: “Assets will feed you, and liabilities will eat you.” An example of an asset is a rent-house, or stocks and bonds in a certain company. Only, that is, if the company is good and the stocks are ultimately going up in value.

In conclusion, we see that the three most important ways the rich keep getting richer are: having or making time, subject education, and buying assets. These are the key factors influencing wealth. I personally plan on educating myself in real estate, as it seems the simplest and safest way of getting rich.

Aaron Kater has been writing articles for quite a while, and has his own weekly newsletter, Katerzine! There was a time that a CD (certificate of deposit) was one of the best and safest ways to save money. It was easy to do, just go to your local bank and deposit money into a CD. I believe in the mid 80's the interest rate was up to 12-16%! Nowadays that level of interest rate on a CD is just a memory. CDs are still available at most banks but they are not the best way to store your money. Although you receive a better interest rate than a simple personal bank savings account, CDs lock up your money for a period of time where you don't have access to it and are penalized for early withdrawal. If you are reading this article you have an Internet connection, so why not store your money with a bank on the Internet? There's major banks on line that you should be aware of and take advantage of their offerings. If you are uneasy transferring money on line, rest easy, the encryption codes used today are impossible to crack into. I've been using the Internet to store my money and earning interest with it for years with no problems at all. Advantages to an Internet bank are:

Easy transfer of your money

Greater or equal interest rate of a CD, instant access to your money (usually within 3 days)

Listings of all your account activities on line

FDIC insured

Email notices of transactions

Convenience of using the Internet for banking from the comfort of your home

Here are the major players in the Internet banking community with their current savings interest (as of this writing):

www.etrade.com

Current interest rate: 5.05%

www.emigrantdirect.com

Current interest rate: 5.05%

www.us.hsbc.com

Current interest rate: 5.05%

www.ingdirect.com

Current interest rate: 4.50%

Think about your money... you could have money in your personal checking account earning .3% at best or in a personal savings account at your local bank earning 1.2% or just keeping your money in your pocket at 0%. I urge you to look into Internet banking, I know you will be presently surprised to what it has to offer.

How to save money while driving your car

by Robert Tutsky

It never ceases to amaze me how some people drive their cars. Paying attention to good driving habits can certainly help you save yourself some money in the long run.

I notice all to often that there are drivers speeding up to a red light only to jam on the brakes to stop at the intersection. Why? They're literally pushing their autos to the mechanics garage.

It's not rocket science to realize that they are wasting fuel and also putting more wear and tear on their automobile unnecessarily. I don't know about you but I sure would like to put off an expensive brake job as long as possible, not to mention a new set of tires.

My ex drove her car that way and even though she had a small lightweight car (Saturn) and I ended up replacing tires at approximately 26,000 miles and a brake job at 35,000 miles. What a waste. I now know it's possible to go over 50,000 miles or more on a car like hers before replacing tires and also even longer for a brake job just by driving more sensibly.

Here are some things you can do while driving that will save you money

Always look way ahead down the road and get an idea of what's happening with the traffic light before you even reach the intersection. If it is red and you're not too far away, coast , chances are it will turn green just in time for you to pass through the intersection.

If it is green and you are far away, coast and wait till you see it turn red, continue to coast,
the light might turn green and enable you to continue on without using gas or brakes.

I like to make driving a game, trying to judge the speed of my car and time it just right so I don't even have to use the brakes at all. With practice I find it works most of the time especially if you are familiar with the route you are taking.

Not only do I try to judge the optimum speed to go through an intersection without stopping, on many occasions I put my car in neutral and literally coast up to the intersection to a green light, put it back in gear and continue on my way.

There are times when this situation can happen on a slight downhill and I can coast for more than a half mile or more before I put the car in gear and continue on my way, all without using my brakes and all-the-while my car is just idling, saving gas. This way I am truly coasting and using as little fuel as possible. With practice you and in time you will realize a savings that will amaze you..

Another practice I use that I think is worth mentioning

A while back my van needed tires. I had a lot of miles on them and they were worn unevenly. The mechanic told me that I needed a wheel alignment judging how my tires were worn. Another added expense.

I asked the mechanic why a car goes out of alignment and he said usually shocks to the wheels from road pot holes will eventually throw the alignment out. From that point on, I try as much as possible to miss the pot holes and bumps. Again, with good driving practices you will save money driving your car.

According to Edmunds there are other ways to save while driving:

1. Stop driving like a maniac. Gentle starts and smooth acceleration throughout shifting can save up to 37% in gas use! That's a terrific savings.

2. Drive the speed limit or even less. Not only will you save gas but chances are you won't be receiving speeding tickets

3. Use the cruise control. Cruise control is not always convenient but during extended trips it will save gas.

Using these strategies will not only save you money with less wear and tear your automobile receives, it makes driving more interactive and fun!

An Easier Way to Save Your Loose Change

by Robert Tutsky

Since this is my first post to this blog I thought I would start with a simple way how I save money everyday and after a while you'll find it does add up.

The coins in your pocket or purse sometimes seems to be a nuisance more than anything else but it's still money you've earned none the less.

What I used to do when I got home at the end of the day would be to toss all my coins into a glass jar. Before I knew it, the jar was filled to the top, I had to count the contents, put the proper amount of coins into individual paper coin wrappers and bring them to the bank.

The problem was, that it was too time consuming counting and rolling up coins to even bother. But what could I do? I couldn't just throw them out, banks frown on bringing them a jar full of coins and telling them you're sure there's $23.97 in coins because you counted every one of them. Doesn't work.

The other option is a commercial coin counting machine. The grocery store I frequent has a machine that will accept coins and give you a return in dollars. Problem is the machine charges you for the service.

I was aware that there were personal coin counting machines you could buy but I couldn't justify spending a lot of money to count my coins. I finally came across a solution. They're plastic counting tubes that allow you to drop the coins in the tube until the excess falls out of a slot. At that point you know that you have the correct coin count. Once full, pour the coins into a wrapper, fold the ends, then off to the bank. Simple procedure. This worked great and was easy to do and actually fun, watching your pocket change add up to a worthwhile sum.

I bought my coin holders locally but you can get similar coin holders at Amazon here.

To make the holders stand up easily I cut holes in a scrap piece of plywood and it makes it much easier to store your coins before wrapping them. The paper coin wrappers or tubes are sold in stores but, don't buy them. Next time you're at your bank just ask for some, they are happy to give them to you.

Remember, even pennies add up.

I came across a millionaire who confessed that he will pick up a penny spotted on a parking lot. You've got to wonder how he became a millionaire to begin with.

Your burdensome pocket change can easily become money in the bank for you.

Privacy Policy for www.your-money-matters.blogspot.com

If you require any more information or have any questions about our privacy policy, please feel free to contact us by email at roberttutsky.art@gmail.com.

At www.your-money-matters.blogspot.com, the privacy of our visitors is of extreme importance to us.
