The Boy Turned 5!!!

The other day, my "baby" big boy turned 5!!!! So hard to believe it has been 5 years since we became parents to the most adorable little creature who stole our hearts right away. What a joy he has been. He is such a smart, creative, playful, funny, kind, gentle little guy. He loves to play with his two little brothers, at times he would rather not have the middle one follow him around as much, but they all get along very well.
This year, we were able to celebrate his big day with family. He LOVED that!!!! The only downside to the whole day was that Daddy wasn't with us. He did receive a birthday message that made his day. When I played it for him, he smiled his sheepish smile and said, "Daddy." These boys love him and miss him so much. (two weeks down!!!) We were also able to Face Time, which always help!

Living in the Military

We are a military family. A military family has many ups and downs. You get to explore new places, see new things, make many friends. You also have to say good-bye to those friends and places. As a military wife, I quickly make our new homes as much of a home as possible. Not just for myself and my husband, but our boys. Their rooms are always the first to be set up so they can have somewhere familiar to go and play. Then comes trying to make our furniture fit into the new spaces...always a fun chore! I grew up in the military, so I know what the life is like moving every few years, making new friends, etc. However, the life is totally different as the wife/mother than as the child. That was easy!

As I look out my front room window this morning, I see my neighbor preparing her house for her husbands return from deployment. How exciting for her and her boys! There is a welcome home Daddy sign and her flag is flying, as are many in our military housing, but it's different when you know a parent/spouse is returning home from duty. So emotionally overwhelming and exciting.

Then I turn around and look at my house...fatigue bags are packed, extra suitcase is out and packed, my boys are running around trying to help their daddy get ready to leave for his deployment. It has been almost 10 years since his last deployment and I know he is excited to go. To get back to what he's "supposed to do." At the same time, this is our first time with children, so he is sad he will miss watching them grow. Watching the baby learn to crawl and possibly start cruising. It was a lot easier when it was just the two of us saying goodbye, see ya in a few months, be safe, I love you!!! These boys are so attached to their daddy it should be an adventure trying to keep them occupied and distracted while he is gone. I am so thankful and lucky to have a family that is willing to travel to us and accept us as company to help the time go quickly.

I know we will be fine and the time will seem to drag on, but it will go quickly. We will be busy with our family to help pass the time and we have an amazing cul-de-sac that will help at the drop of a hat if you need them. However, I can help but long for the day we are preparing our house for Daddy's return home.

Well, we are into the year 2013!!! Crazy!!!! What a great year 2012 was. We started off the year still a little shocked at finding out we were having our third baby, the husband spent the first half of the year training for a new job, moved on the hottest weekend/month known to man, had a baby 13 days after moving, hubby started a new job, our middle son's skin completely clearing up(rejoice!!), and so much more. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of everyday life, but when I, as I'm sure you do too, reflect on the year, we are reminded of how lucky and great full we are for every moment. These next few months will be bumpy in our household, but they will be an adventure filled with many memories I'm sure.
As each year turns, many of us make our resolutions. I usually don't do much. Of course there is the eat better, exercise more, etc, but this year i am setting some goals...get my Etsy shop going again and get back into blogging. We shall see how well this goes with the hubby away and me at home with all three boys :/!

New Baby

We have a new baby in the family!!! Born on Sunday evening, he came in the smallest of my 3 boys. We are all doing well. I love to watch the older two boys play with him. They love him so much!!! We all do!!!

Today's posts on a color scheme. I chose to take a photo of my garage. We did most of the packing, except breakables, and moved the boxes to the garage once they were full. It is very full since we leave on Saturday. Ahhh!!!!

Today's post was on something that reminds you of childhood. I chose to use a picture of my boys playing in the water. I remember many summer days growing up laying in the sprinkler trying to stay cool. Today was actually a beautiful day and almost a little chilly for water play. The boys had fun though. The Baby did not want to get sprayed so once he found his little puddle he was good.

Today was about the people we love. I am so lucky to have such a loving and fun family. For my photo, I chose my boys. This picture was taken at Easter. In less than a month we will be adding another boy.

For today's challenge, we are to take a photo of the sunrise or sunset. I was up at sunrise with The Baby, who has not been feeling well today, but I forgot. So I took one of the start of our sunset, mainly because I was thinking about it and knew I would forget if I waited for a colorful shot.

Today's challenge is of something we like. Since it's Saturday, we went to the Farmer's Market for once last time here in Ohio. Came home and made Bruschetta, sliced a cucumber, and some mozzarella. A delicious, fresh lunch.

So, I may have mentioned before that I do not own a fancy camera. The camera I do have us very basic and since getting the iPhone in December, I use that mainly. The last few days have been to use light, day 16 was light trail and 17 was use of light as well. These I could not seem to capture one my phone :(. However, I was able to join in today's, which was a show of emotions. I took this photo of The Baby about a week ago. If he is waken up from his nap by anything, he cries for about an hour not wanting a thing!!!! It is rather frustrating and funny. You hand him his paci, he throws it then reaches for it all the while getting more and more angry. The last time he did this, I snapped a picture and was able to "show emotion" for today's challenge.

Yesterday's challenge was to focus on the eyes. I chose a picture of The Baby I took back in November. He was peeking around his stroller to see my mother. For day 15, we were to do what we wanted. My friends husband and mine are gone this week for work so we are spending about everyday together. Today, the boys were jumping beans!!

So I'm a little behind on posting my photos :/. We have been very busy around here getting things ready for our move in two weeks!! Crazy!!!!! We are going to miss our friends do much but looking forward to our next adventure :).
So, day 7 was a silhouette photo, which I was not able to get...a portrait of my oldest was as close to a silhouette I was going to get.
Day 8 was a close up shot. Here I tried to get our youngest but he was moving around so much it didn't turn out how I had hoped. Oh well...he's still cute!
Day 9 was from a distance. We went to a friends house the other day to play and the boys had so much fun in the bounce house. The Baby LOVED it when the big boys were not in there! (I can't seem to find that photo at the moment :/)
Day 10 was anything we wanted. A friend of mine helped write a book so I took a picture of that :)
Day 11 was a black and white photo. I took one the other day of our sweet little boy. He was swinging away having the time of his life. I love his smile and how little, yet big, he looks!

I am far from being a photographer so I tried my best to get our shot for today, a low angle shot. We just got back from a local farmers market with loads of yummy fruits and veggies. Yesterday was The Boys last day of Pre K...for this year. He will go again next year since he is only 4. A friend of mine suggested dressing him in the same outfit he wore for the first day of school. She did it with her son and it was so fun to see how different the clothes fit, how small they were. So, I did!!

Strawberry Picking

Today, I took the boys to a local farm to pick strawberries. There is nothing better than fresh strawberries. They are so sweet and delicious!!! I wasn't sure how The Baby would do, but he had fun. He picked a few red ones, green ones mainly and tried to eat a few. The Boy, however, knew exactly what to do. He looked for the biggest, reddest strawberries he could find. Everyone one he picked he said, "oh this one looks great mommy!". It was a beautiful day to go pick our berries. I hope to make it out again very soon!

Mother's Day

The Boy came home from school on Thursday so excited about his Mother's day gift for me. I asked if he wanted to wait until Sunday for me to open it, but he couldn't. When I unrolled his gift I almost started to cry, and being 30 weeks pregnant did not help. He had painted a flower using his handprints for the petals. In the middle of the flower was a picture of my sweet boy. On the back, this really made me cry, was a questionnaire about me...

The last one really got me. Every night when I'm tucking him into bed, we talk about where we are going to meet in our dreams to play. When I leave his room, I look back at him and together we say, "see you in my dreams.". I love that boy so much!!!

Water Slide!!!

Yesterday was such a warm day, almost 90 and full on sun. What better way to spend it than playing in the water slide and sucking down Popsicles! The boys had a great time. The Baby is still not a fan of the slide being on, but lives it with just a tiny bit of water or splashing in the puddles. A few time, The Boy would turn the water on high to surprise The Baby. He did NOT appreciate it!!
