Are you living your life fully as God designed? What does the bible say? Read Titus 2:3-5 and pray.

May God help us all today to be wives, mothers and daughters of spiritual valor. We must be courageous women who are brave enough to battle the onslaught which is against those who trust in the Lord's highest plan. We must be determined to face these dangers which tend to lead us away from our home and family. We also need inner fortitude to resist the temptations that distract us while at home and keep us from serving faithfully. We must battle ourselves to be faithful as we stand firm and remain to that which is first; We must be heroic women.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:

but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised

Proverbs 31:30

Here is a testimony of one who longed for that which brings the greatest joy, fulfillment and peace of mind~ when applied biblically. Ava Gardner had what others believed was everything. In reality she testified it was an empty, temporal,worthless pursuits that brought her only regret.

Coming from one of the most successful "Starlet" of all time, says volumes. This is a woman who longed for what God placed in the heart of every woman. Like a hidden treasure, sometimes it is slowly revealed and other times it is a diamond one has to mine. Ms. Garner understood the value of being home and serving a family.

God designed each woman with a sacred trust. The Titus 2 calling conforms us into the image of Christ and we cannot remain self absorbed for long or we will resent it. When we stop exalting ourselves against the knowledge of God, and bring our selfish imagination to the obedience of Christ, we will find pure joy, peace and true fulfillment. God knows best how to make our life count and worthwhile!

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" 2 Corinthians 10:5

Titus 2:3-5 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

One of the mightiest men of prayer of the last generation was George Müller (1805-1898).
His life mission was to rescue orphans from the wretched street life that enslaved so many children during that time in England. He fed, housed, educated and built godly character into thousands of children without asking for a dime. His success was a result of fully surrendering his will to Gods and through prayer. Famous for his faith and finding the will of God he found the following method always effective,

"I seek at the beginning to get my heart into such a state that it has no will of its own in regard to a given matter"

"I do not leave the result to feeling or simple impression. If so, I make myself liable to great delusions. I seek the Will of the Spirit of God through, or in connection with, the Word of God. The Spirit and the Word must be combined. If I look to the Spirit alone without the Word, I lay myself open to great delusions also."

This means examining your life in light of God's word the bible to see if it reflects His truth. It means saying "Yes" to Christ and "No" to self and yielding your will completely to His. Being willing to alter your decisions or making changes may feel frightening but you can trust God's plan is so much better than the one you thought was right?

There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.

Proverbs 16:25

As you examine your life in light of God's word, you will see clearer. As Christians, we need to be brave and allow the Lord to shine His light on our weaknesses, our struggles and the strongholds that we maybe still clinging to.

If you are feeling burdened without answers, lacking peace and joy, well today is your day! The Lord loves you so much that He wants to set you free. When you give the Lord full reign of your life, peace will flood your soul and your heart will be lifted. I like the saying, "Christ cleans up His fish after He catches them!" This helps us to realize we are a work in progress, always learning and growing. Jesus wants us to trust Him with everything. He is either Lord of all or not Lord at all. Christ will show you the areas you are still holding back. His light reveals where you need to fully surrender. When you finally do~ your life will become anew!

So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed
John 8:35-37

Each day we have opportunity to be free in the Lord. As we give our will to His, we will finally have peace, the grace to overcome our circumstances and find His perfect will.

Creative Easter Baskets for Your Son

Have you ever wanted to make something meaningful for your son at Easter? This year, I wanted to let my boy know how very special he is to me by creating something geared towards his personality and personal tastes. I couldn't find anything on the market for older boys who like hunting or cowboy gear and still enjoy peeps, chocolates including simple games with an outdoorsy theme. So I thought, "Why not make a basket specially for him!

Rejoicing in the world, His earth,

And having my delight in the sons of men.

“Now therefore, O sons, listen to me,
For blessed are they who keep my ways.

And do not neglect it."

This holiday, I came up with an Easter idea for sons that I wanted to share with you. You could use this same concept for older daughters too! It can be adjusted for any age, personality, celebration or Holiday! Though I have seen baskets for adults, it's nice to come up with ideas for our children.

First look around for a basket. I found one that was sturdy enough for larger items that I wanted to include. If you really think about it, almost anything can used for a basket, a holder or a wrap to make your gift meaningful. Maybe a cowboy hat, a boot or an old fishing basket could hold your items. If its a boot or something old, I would line it with a hidden plastic bag or towel or add colored tissue to make it nice. What about a bucket, a shaving kit or a baseball cap? You could use a favorite team shirt and tie one end and then fill the other end with your goodies? Anything could become your creative container! If you don't want to think about it, you can always go to the dollar store, thrift store for an inexpensive basket. During the year, you can always find something at a White Elephant Sale (elegant term for garage sale! :) to be set aside for such occasions.

If you want to make your items display well, you may have to create a little cushion to add some lift. I used left over plastic trash bags (I knew they would be good for something?!) and placed them in one brown plastic bag. Now there's a nice lift to the basket.

For an Easter~Spring theme, I added silk grass from the Dollar Store. I decided to buy the grass that was made in America. At least we can try to be Patriotic whenever we can.

You can make this basket meaningful with scripture verses that would bless your son and add specific ones to build his character which he can meditate on. Our focus for Easter is Christ, New Beginnings and A New Life so I found verses that I felt our son could benefit from and printed these. Here I am cutting these verse out. If you want to save time, you can go to biblegateway and pick a theme like "New Life or God's Love" or any character quality you want encouraged in your son.

For a Spring theme, you can find camo, football, basketball, soccer and baseball eggs at the dollar store. My husband is going to create a treasure hunt for our son with poetic clues hid around the house. My husband is extremely creative and has made exciting treasure hunts for any age which our children love! So, the clues will be hid in each egg along with my bible verses. The game is to find the clues and before a treat can be opened, a verse has to be read. Since our boy does not get candy very often these clues and verses will be that much sweeter! (excuse the pun!)

You can add any goodies, items that are more to your sons own tastes, personality or any item you have on hand for fun. Its okay to give treats that are youthful. My husband absolutely loves peeps for Easter and I make sure he gets them too! So whatever age, make it special! For those with health issues, just pray about it. There are lots of healthy snacks, goodies and non-food ideas you can creatively put together in your kitchen to bring extra joy during the Holiday's.

If you don't have much on hand, just look around the house. Maybe there is something you can add that you had not thought of before. For an older child, one can add a family Heirloom, something shelved for a while, a poem you write, a project you made, a coupon for something you can do together but whatever it is, let your child chose the game, the project, the adventure, movie or whatever is fitting. This will make it extra special. Make a coupon he can cash in whenever he wants to and make sure you do this together or set some time aside to make a memory with him.

Making a Mishap into a Masterpiece!

Well tonight was one of those nights that the Lord pieced together my mishap in the kitchen:).
I had everything prepared, with ingredients chopped, ready to make a healthy Mexican style rice and hamburger dish for my family. I even put together the ingredients for a fresh loaf of bread so when my guys walked in the door, a wonderful aroma would fill the air and dinner would be ready. But alas...

As an older Titus Two wife and mother, I have learned to take my kitchen catastrophes as an opportunity to think fast and get creative! My mishaps have been some of my best meals yet!
Maybe because it is such a surprise to me to see how they turn out in the end :)

Whenever your best intentions go awry or your brain fly’s south like mine did today, it's a great time to pray and ask the Master of your kitchen to piece something together. This becomes His Masterpiece! So do not despair when you have a kitchen Kafuffle, a culinary challenge or even explosions (like many in my Titus Two class remember:). The Master of your kitchen will give you the answer.

*For those who want to know what happened, unbeknownst to me, the right side of my outlet was out. the rice cooker never started and it was dinner time. So I quickly took all my ingredients, (minus the rice) made homemade pizza from the bread dough that was rising, baked it, added sauce and topped with cheese! My guys were as happy as ever and said it was absolutely delicious! May your mishaps become a Masterpiece♥

This verse continues on and applies the same today as it did so many years ago when my husband~Brian and I first married. This verse came to my heart then as it does today (click this link).

~I want to honor my husband with words of praise~

This was the first verse the Lord put on my heart when I met Brian and over the years this verse has become true. I love how much my husband has grown like a mighty oak tree and how so many people have taken taken "refuge in its branches". God has blessed Brian with a calm, peaceful spirit which Christ dwells greatly bringing others rest who come to our home. I have witnessed so many people visit and say the same thing. The peaceful, rest they find is so refreshing. It has been a joy to see men of all ages seeking Brian's advise and young men talking to him until late unto the night as he carefully listens and has served them over the years. I really enjoy serving refreshments to those he ministers to. It is so heartwarming to be a part of this ministry and is a delight to witness!

Hearth & Home

I have been blessed with not only a manly, ruddy, rugged outdoorsy type husband but a true gentleman who exemplifies Christ's kind love, servants heart and wise caring leadership. I remember our daughter telling some friends that she could not recall my husband ever raising his voice at her, which amazed and seemed unheard of to them. He willingly consistently spends hours at a time any day of the week, giving ear to our children's needs and he knows how to have fun too!

Winter Games with a new twist

With my husbands creative imagination during this time of year, we have seen incredible castles of snow, SUV size animal figurines and some of the funniest winter creations I have ever seen. Long before it was fashionable, he created his own interpretation of indoor sports and games including golfing (throughout the house with croquet pieces), bowling (in the kitchen), water balloons and tents so intricate they filled a living room. Designing adventures from a simple deck of cards, he kept us on the edge of our seats, wondering if we would find the golden treasure or explode from a hidden bomb~all from the safety of our home. With homespun puppets, family radio shows and zanny, elaborate costumes, he has given our family hilarious days of fun, imagination and filling our lives with great joy.

Man of Honor

Brian, tries with all his heart to consider all sides wisely and carefully before making decisions. Rarely has he missed the mark nor have I known a kinder man with such humility.

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

This was the verse the Lord put on my heart regarding my husband in spirit and also in business. There have been times I stand in awe of the peaceful, controlled strength that my husband has. I just want to sit at his feet and learn (which I do all the time!:). I also have seen God prosper him in business. My husband absolutely knows it is God who gives him his creative ideas. He will always say, "Look what God just showed me". As a result, his designs have sold all over the world and for longer periods of time than they normally should. What was supposed to sell for only four years sold for over over a decade. After a fourteen year run~his first camouflage design finally ran its course. I am so excited about the new pattern God gave him that he is about to market!!

Honor from the Fields

Many men have asked to work with Brian or join him in business for they say he is "fair and good to all". Presidents of company's including a Senior Corporate Attorney who have known him for many years told me my husband was "the most honest man they have ever known in business". I attribute this to his desire to honor the Lord including wisdom and understanding gained from adversity in the "Entrepreneurial World" and life. He has a humility that is beyond many. I want to add that the gifts the Lord has given Brian in camouflage design are mind boggling. He is the most creative man I have ever witnessed in this field. He knows this gift is from the Lord and has such a humble spirit about his talent. What few people know, is that his creativity spreads across many genres and I am so excited for him to pursue all of them in God's perfect timing and plan.

Honor at the Gates

I want to honor my husband as he continually glorifies God daily through the way he lives before us. He intensly seeks the Lord and sacrificially sets aside his own plans even at great expense. My husband has spent years faithfully counseling men in their times of need both personally and in business. I praise the Lord for my husband's steadfast strength standing for what he believes is God's highest plan. Even when the roar of adversity bellows fiercely in his face~he stands still and waits patiently upon the Lord.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge

Though he is quiet and gentle in spirit, he is a Noble Man.

Listen To His Voice, Serve Him, and "Cling" To Him

Heavens Light

When you are feeling overwhelmed and alone in the storm, you have entered into the inlet for the greatest blessing of your life. It is during the lonely hours when everything is heartbreaking, confusingly stressful, when you have given it your all and lost. This is when you have really won. Now you are ready to cling to no one and nothing else but Christ. Clinging to Jesus, with all our hearts, transports us to a cleft in the rock, to a place where we find a true refuge that will weather any storm. Here we find shelter, peace, comfort and real solace. This is where we learn the most. It is when we have been tossed through life's torrents and pierced in every way that Christ's light lovingly reflects in and through us. He heals our broken, battered lives and sets us to sail again. Now we can give that same comfort to others. As we get out of the way, we shine the brightest for Christ as His light house. We now become His light beam guiding others back to Him-safely home.

This song was based on the parable of the wise and foolish builder which illustrates the importance of building one's life on the teachings and example of Jesus.

This parable compares building one's life

on the teachings and example of Jesus to a

flood-resistant building founded on solid rock.

The testimony of Edward Mote's life is one that should inspire all Christians. Mote was not brought up in a godly home and did not have the advantage of early exposure to Scripture. In fact, his parents managed a pub in London and often neglected young Edward, who spent most of his Sundays playing in the city streets.Of his theological upbringing, he said "So ignorant was I that I did not know that there was a God."

This is a wonderful video we watched this morning while cleaning up the breakfast dishes (Just click the picture). It was so refreshing to see a wholesome short family clip that encourages children to see themselves as part of a team. As Homeschool families, we can apply the principles of "The Family Team" in the early years of our children's life. What a joy to have a peaceful, happy home. I hope you, your children and grandchildren enjoy this little uplifting message.

God Is In The Details

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

Matthew 6:25-27

I was so inspired with this single periwinkle flower by Jody Midgley. It reveals that "God is in the details" of our lives. The center of this flower reminds me of strands of blue and crystal clear beads intricately layered with added tubes, like fine handiwork of an expert artist. If we study each piece very closely, a purposeful plan will unfold.

God can work out all the details in your life including your prayerful longings and secret hopes that no one else knows about. If it is His will, He can make your desires a reality but you must not get ahead of Him or His perfect timing. It is usually longer than we ever imagine yet incredibly fulfilling if we wait.

Trust in the Lord and do good;

Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the Lord;

And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord,

Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

Psalm 37:3-5

God will even work out the details of your greatest failure, heartbreak or affliction and turn it around for your good. You may wonder how can this be true? How can God take what appears to be a tragedy and make it a triumph? For some it would seem impossible. Yet if we read God's word, we find He will work all things together for good in His magnificent wisdom and timing.

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

Romans 8:27-29

Put your trust in Jesus today. Allow His plan to unfold in your life. In time you will see the intricate details working together in a way that only God could have designed.

She is a testimony of a young faithful woman who quietly waited upon the Lord for over five years for God to work out all the details~ revealing His plan to the man she had longed and prayed for.

Dear Ladies,

We are so excited about our next Titus Two Wives & Daughters class. We are having our "April Showers Brings May Flowers" with "The Rainbow of God's Promise" as our Theme. We are following the Titus Two mandate as this month Mrs. Sherman will share "Loving Our Children" ~understanding the adult years. We will be receiving excellent homemaking tips, ideas and lessons. Our topics will be menu's, organization, working your plan and encouraging your children in the process. We will be having practical skills in the Art of "Cheese Making", "Homemade Noodles" without a machine and a special class for the daughters. Our afternoon tea will have some fun surprises!

Menu Contest!

Daughters: * For those participating in our contest: Bring your 7 day menu's of your fathers favorite dinner meals and include ideas for healthy side dishes.

Wives:
Create a menu or take your daughters menu and see if you can convert it into a healthy choices. This is a great discussion to have with your daughters of ways to create healthier meals.

Example: Spaghetti Dinner: One can use free range organic hamburger. There are some natural meats without hormones or antibiotics at a lower price compared to regular hamburger. Another option is organic or gluten free noodles. Homemade sauce instead of canned or sometimes you can get organic spaghetti sauce as a discount.

Here is an option for ice cream dessert. Instead of heavy chemicals one can make homemade ice cream with organic milk or frozen yogurt or frozen banana's with fruit. Depending how far you want to go with healthy ideas, there is always a good, better, best choice. You just have to find out what works best for your family, your budget and husband's preference.

*Some of the ladies had various recipes (i.e. for a spinach smoothie) and other tips or ideas. Be sure and bring them to pass out during our "Titus Two Tips Time". We have some really great ideas this month you do not want to miss!

It is our prayer that as Titus Two Women~ we nurture a healthy environment for our families. We desire to be supple in our spirit and that our hearts become like green fields ready to speak the life giving words of God to all He sends our way. We had a great turnout along with Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Humphrey and Mrs. Westrup who joined us live from out of state on Skype. We had a wonderful class as we discussed what it meant to be Titus Two Wives and Daughters.

Part of our class emphasise is for daughters to serve and bless their mothers. This is their Christian duty and helps them wisely prepare for marriage. The enthusiasm of the younger daughters is so contagious! We are excited to see what God is doing in these young lives and how they are rising to the call of biblical womanhood. Their creativity is inspiring. Some of the daughters have made “Crockpot” (slow cooked) meals and or a dessert for their mothers so when they arrived home from class they were ready to serve. These young ladies received special flower arrangements for honoring their mothers.

Table Setting Contest!

Congratulations to the Miss Hannah and Miss Molly Madrid for winning First Place in our "Table Setting" contest.
Triple Kudo's goes to Miss Bethany Cherry as our runner up. The young ladies received special prizes and flower arrangements to take home. The judges for the table settings shared the various aspects of their evaluations. They discussed the positive points in proper settings, utensil usage including arrangements to create an uplifting atmosphere for the “Dinner Hour” experience. Thank you Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Humphrey and Mrs. Westrup for your insight and encouraging words!

Titus Two Tips

Part of our St. Patrick’s Day “Green Theme” was to share healthy ways to serve our families. We passed around books, cd and DVD’s and discussed how live cellular foods can build the immune system and natural remedies can provide life giving healing for our families. We have a “Lending Library” filled with materials that the ladies check out monthly. Many times it is so difficult to find good resources when you are struggling with health issues or concerns. We are so blessed to be able to exchange ideas and information with each other.

Daily Planner: Each month we are going through the “Art of Homemaking” series. Each month this course will give us inspiring lessons of tried and tested principles of success in home management with practical lessons in being an excellent homemaker. This month the Titus Two Wives were encouraged to share their home planners with us so we glean some ideas and tips.

Each One Teach One

In honor of the Missionary St. Patrick, I asked Mrs. Sherman (Lady Lydia) to speak on ways “Titus Two Wives & Daughters” can fulfill their calling within the sphere God mandates. If we follow Christ as our example, He was able to change the world all within a 60 mile radius of His home. As Titus Two Women we are commanded to teach "younger" women at home and those outside our immediate family. The older women are called to teach the precious qualities of a Christian woman~ to love her husband, to love her children and to work at home. Valentines Chocolate Tea

Filled with delectable, delight!
We met together for encouragement,
great fellowship and a deliciously
"Over the Top" Chocolate Valentine's Tea!
We were spoiled with sweets for our bodies

as well as our soul.

What I love about our gatherings, is the special camaraderie we share as women who truly love God and want to honor His directives as "Titus Two Wives & Daughters". We are of all ages from 6 month to 70 plus! We come from various backgrounds, churches and standards. Some of us are very young in the Lord while others have years as seasoned believers but the wonderful aspect of our group is the love, acceptance and encouragement we give one another. The older women in our class have a mature outlook on life. They understand that perfection is in Christ alone. Our motto is~

"We may not have it all together,
but together (In Christ) we have it all!"

We are desirous to learn, to grow and to sincerely listen. What I love about this wonderful group, is how willing the older women are to fulfill their Titus Two mandate and the excited responses from the daughters. We are all encouraged to love our husband's, to love our children and to be "Keepers at Home".

& bloom where God has planted them.

This month we heard the various facets to our calling which needs to be prayerfully considered and developed as found in the first part of Titus chapter two. These qualities take a long time to develop and like a diamond, may take much chiseling before Christ shines beautifully through us. The Titus Two Daughters also heard a special message entitled~

"I AM A HOMEMAKER-IN-TRAINING"

Miss Bethany Cherry shared very thought provoking words on the importance of daughters serving the Lord with their "heart" as well as their hands.

"How To Love Your Husband"

The "Titus Two Wives" gave special Valentine tips & seasoned counsel on "How To" love reverence and wisely serve ones husband. Some of our favorites were included in a webvideo!

"The Titus Two Teaching Is Practical!"

Mrs. Sherman "Lady Lydia" taught that our biblical calling can be achieved even while living in harder regions of the country or with a husband who has a challenging occupation. She shared her mothers experience as a "Fisherman's wife" who revolved her family life around the ongoing sea- tides to serve her husband.

"Planning Your Work & Working Your Plan"

The "Art Of Homemaking" series taught by Mrs. Van Derber has been a great hit with the women. We have all gained something from each of these talks.

"Twenty-Three Rules of Conduct

All Children Should Know"

Mrs. Hollinger shared practical tips that every child should be taught in "Conduct, Manners & Etiquette." These were helpful for the daughters as they prepare to raise their future children. They were also a great refresher course for the mothers and Grandmothers attending.

The “Titus Two Wives and Daughter’s

Winter Snowflake Tea” was a great success!!

Laughter and happy conversations filled the air as the women joined together in one accord for a higher purpose. They came from various locations, churches and backgrounds as they strengthened one another giving encouragement to their biblical calling. The “Titus Two Wives and Daughters” are a solid support group serving one another to better love our husbands, love our children and share wisdom in the “Art of Homemaking”.

"The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands,

that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Glittering snowflakes embellished the room. Candles were lit, as the soft music set the tone of our class. The Titus Two daughter’s brought homemade pumpkin and chocolate bars and beautifully designed cookies. A winter wonderland was designed by an eleven year old daughter who stacked her cookie cut frosted branches creating a beautiful white tree. Turkey raspberry cream cheese tea sandwiches set upon a three tiered stand and a snow filled mountain bundt cake topped off our Winter Tea! White roses with china dishes graced our tea table bringing elegance to our special gathering. It is such a delightful afternoon as women were lifted up, strengthened and refreshed as Christian wives and daughters.

Like, a snowflake has its own unique design,

God honoring women, have a distinct calling
which they are commanded to fulfill.

This is not an option!

Mrs. Sherman, a seasoned Pastors wife who has been in ministry for over fifty years, shared words of wisdom as she beautifully articulated God’s calling for Christian women.

Though we may live in difficult regions of the country or world, Gods word still applies. Whether we are farmers, ranchers, loggers or fishermen’s wives living in various circumstances that may seem challenging, we are given the same mandate.

Even widowed or abandoned wives have a biblical directive. The Lord understands the hardships some will bear when He designed the highest, most fulfilling plan for women.

Mrs. Cutter taught on how to organize our homes

Mrs. Hollinger taught “The Dinner Hour” creating a peaceful, low stress experience for your family's special time together.

Mrs. Herndon taught how to make "Butter" and products for Dairy"

Today’s homemaking troubles are small in comparison to our Mother’s, Grandmother’s or Great Grandmother’s especially those living in biblical times. Though we have our own obstacles to overcome, we are asked to trust in God’s plan as we fulfill our sacred mission. This is meant to be accomplished within the authority and sphere God places us in. Many times women try to run away from difficulties because they are discouraged and afraid things will not turn out the way they hope or plan. They look elsewhere for fulfillment and get busy with other activities, people and places. Over the next few months we will be addressing many of the areas wives and daughters struggle to overcome and give practical lessons to be successful “Home Managers”.

Creative Canning~Gift Giving "Apple Butter" Jam

Made from Home Means Made with Love

Part 1

Canning is economical and another way to express sincere appreciation if given as gifts. This Holiday Season, our Titus Two Young Women and I decided to create gifts that have time, effort and love put into each jar. We made homemade "Apple Butter" jams and we learned a great deal. Here is our very first attempt.

Finding the right recipe will make all the difference.

Part 3

Techniques in preparing apples while boiling before canning.

Part 4

Ideas for saving time with "Creative Canning".

Part 5

Thinking outside the box experimenting to create natural pectin.

Part 6

Here are some ideas to create a stress free space while canning with easy ways to keep your kitchen in order.

Part 7

Innovative recipe ideas and learning how to flexible with challenges in the kitchen.

Part 8

Adding the right spices can make a big difference in taste and saftey tips.

Part 9

The final phase placing "Apple Butter" in jars with lids slightly tightened before placing in the canner. The jars are immersed in water while boiling per suggested time in recipe. Then we sampled our work with a relaxing warm apple cinnamon drink.

Creating Memories While Canning Part 5

When canning with younger children, be sure and consider their age and maturity level. If your children listen attentively and are cooperative, you will avoid many possible hazards in the kitchen. The youngest girl in our kitchen this day was eleven and very responsible. I believe in teaching young ladies as early as possible the "Art of Homemaking". It is great to have them work along side you while watching each step of the way. I think it is important to have an adult or an older experienced daughter working with appliances, sharp knives and a hot stove until you are confident the younger girls have a proven understanding of all the saftey rules. Children will make many mistakes while they are learning so to ensure their protection, keep from expecting too much. If you think ahead, consider all the possiblities, then you will wisely discern how much responsibility you should give the younger helpers. Parents sometimes expect a child to remember everything taught right away and this often leads to mistakes. A responsible Home Manager will understand the necessity of repetition with younger children and give encouragement to them while explaining things over and over again. With a joyful, patient heart you can create an uplifting and joyful experience. Perfection belongs to Christ alone so let us enjoy "Creating Memories" with a loving spirit, filled with understanding, mercy and grace.

To Sugar or not to Sugar that is the question?

Here we discuss some options while canning. As you can see we are really enjoying our experience and you will too when you learn a new skill with your family or a friend.

As Titus Two "Home Manager's" we are always open to new ideas in making our homes run efficient, effective and peaceful. Canning can be a great way to save money if you are able to glean the produce yourself whether it be on your own property or another. Though it may take more time and effort, with a good attitude you can make great strides in cutting costs in your family budget while also making making wonderful memories at the same time. This also makes a wonderful gift. People really appreciate something that took time, mixed with lots of joy and love in it! A pretty jar of a homemade gift is always the best present for those who appreciate homespun products!

Now we have finished boiling the apples and moving along very nicely to the next step. Here are some tips to prepare your apples and proper preparation of the canning jars.

What I love about developing a new skill is having fun while learning. It is such a great opportunity to stretch out of what is comfortable and stay flexible. Being able to overcome with a good attitude and laugh at yourself is very important in learning how to do anything new.

Here I am with my friends Miss Melissa Cherry and her sister Bethany working on Titus Two Projects to enhance our homemaking skills! This video was totally spontaneous and unscripted as we journey together in canning applesauce. We are completely new at this and had a great time learning along the way.
