Mum, Rosie and I had a lovely time at the Lion King...it was a fabulous show and I would definitely recommend it to all...Mum treated us to lunch at Bill's my most favourite Restaurant in Covent Garden right now and needless to say we had to buy some fabulooooous foodie goodies from there as always,,,

And yes i did get a hammering from Mum about my hair...lol it was quite funny actually, because when I dyed my hair bright pillar box red, she didn't speak to me for a while until all her friends told me how much they liked it...and when she saw my new brown hair complete with blonde mallen streak, she instantly told me how much she hated it and that it made me look a lot older, I was prepared for her not liking it, but she still has the power to make me feel totally crap about myself.

In the end it was me who had the last laugh though, because one of hers and my friends, a lady called Eileen, who I used to work with when I was a Saturday girl at WHSmiths back in the day, asked my Mum who was i with...and when my Mum told her it was Rosie my daughter...Eileen (my bestest friend ever) said that i didn't look old enough to have a daughter that age lol! Oh how I laughed!

....And then what also made my day was that when we pulled up outside my Mum's house, there were two little girls playing out on their bikes and they were really lovely and chatty little gals...and they immediately said that they liked my hair and they also thought that Rosie and I were sisters, not Mother and daughter!...well again needless to say I had a big grin on my face and inwardly stuck two fingers up to my Mum, in the nicest possible way of course lol!

Happy New Hair - Contrary or What!

A change is as good as a rest, or so they say...and I am loving my new hairstyle...ok so I look a bit like Morticia from the Adams family {Freddies words not mine!} RATBAG...but I needed this change...as the red was making my hair in bad condition and also there was this other issue {read previous post} which I wont mention again here...but it was a BIG benefactor lol!

Oh yes I think I am going to have fun with this hair colour...
...and I am sure I heard my Mum saying the other week - how much she hated my hair when it was dark...oh dear! I can feel the silence treatment coming on! lol!

I am off to London on Wednesday {tomoz} with Rosie and my Mum's Pensioner group, to see The Lion King....so I will let you know how I get on, she can't totally ignore me!

HAPPY MONDAY - Teawagon Tales

Well here we are...I thought I had better blog about something this week...rather than sleeping around the clock with my dreaded menobrain....goodness me I have it bad...but onwards and upwards it must be and what better way than to start this week off with one of my Happy Monday posts...

Today I just had to promote the lovely Jane from Teawagon Tales Blog....many of you will probably know her already as she has been featured in many a publication...but her Bambi picture {above} put a smile on my face so I had to make her my best gal for Monday.

I love the way she uses colour, her blog and flickr pictures are to die for, with lashings of inspiration to get you crafty girls going back for more, long after you have read this post...

...and I love that she is a gal after my own heart...in the way she has decorated these pebbles {I used to do this with my kids when they were young - What Fun}....infact I think she has decorated these peebles for the us at the Happy House, because they all look so much like my family lol...

The Daddy pebble looks so like my Freddy and the Mummy one is very similar to me now...as I have changed my hair colour from red to a dark brown...just for a change... I know, I know what you are thinking...but in my area, it seems that all the {sorry but I must say it! CHAVS} are sporting the poppy red colour that now seems to be in every chemist and I just couldn't stand having a Chav colour...so I will wait until the fashion passes before I go back to that colour again lol!

At least we can feel better about our work space's being messy, as it seems that we are in great company lol :)

Well as you know I have been making and creating items to add to my website lately, so I thought what better way then to start the weekend off by showing you some happy creative pictures.

Yep gals...this is what I have been getting up too and to be honest i did get rather carried away with myself! making probably far too many things...but what the heck! I have enjoyed myself and that is the main thing ay!

I hope you like my original design ideas...I have used these letter cards since I can remember for one thing and another...I have seen them become more and more popular with creative minds alike, so I have made a few more buntings with them...hoping to appeal...

I have also added some vintage kitsch bits

...and had a lot of fun with paper techniques...

It has been nice to finally make items that have been rolling around in my head for ages...but it all does take time and I hope that some of you will be inspired to buy something from me to add to your Happy Home.

Anyways...Have a Happy Weekend my lovely peeps and keep coming back to me, as next week I am going to start the week off with a delightful give-away!

The NOT SO HAPPY Ramblings...& Craft Pictures

What a terrible spring we have been having...as you know I have had my sewing machine out and I was supposed to be listing items that I have made on my website...but what with one thing and another! (lack of sunlight I think!) I just can't be bothered! terrible isn't it!

Anyway...this week I have been over at my Mums house, I haven't seen her since Christmas...I really felt like we had got a lot closer after last year and her fall and everything, what with the weekly visits to her house and trips to the hospital to visit her and stuff...and then! like a bombshell she goes and writes something awful about me to a relation...which really upset me no end! so I just couldn't bring myself to go and see her! two steps forward, three steps back!

I felt like I needed time to heal, before I could see her again and then she asked me if I could accompany her on another hospital trip and at first i said no...but then I felt guilty! why do Mother's make you feel like that!...so I rang her and said that I would go with her!

We had a nice time together and I never mentioned anything about how I felt, because i didn't want an argument with her!...She is precious to me, as i know lots of you no longer have your Mother's and I understand that I am a lucky soul in that respect, but she does so break my heart at times...but I have learned to live with her being like she is over the years...

She is a very strong woman, because she has had to live with her hip disability all her life, but she has never really taken me seriously and has never ever stuck up for me...always taking who ever I am in disagreements with side...which I have always felt very upset about! but over the years I have become hardened to her ways and tried my best to get on with her...I suppose you could say I am more like my Father...but he passed away 26 years ago now....gosh I soooo miss him!

Anyway...I don't know why I am telling you this now! It seems so silly, but what with the lack of sunshine and my moping...its been hard to get on track this year...after 7 years of blogging it is sometimes hard to know what to blog about and I have never really let you know about the nitty gritty of my personal life...but i kind of feel that every now and again...you need to know, where i am at!..lol!

So I have been over at my Mum's for a few days and although I never told her how I have been feeling...I now feel that I am over it! and I can move on...Life can be so tough at times...even when you have a name like Happy!...sometimes I think I should change my name as i seemed to of had a run of bad luck and SH*T come my way lately...so don't think it is just you! I have had my fair share over the years, believe, you, me! Eek!

It doesn't help either that I am now in MENOPAUSE...Yep! no more Peri-menopause for me! My periods are off the agenda now! and i now have all the other rotten symptoms that come's with being Middle-aged! Itchy all over, feeling Hot Hot Hot! Memory Loss....middle-aged spread and everything that was once 'PERT' now all gone SOUTH! *Sigh*!

Mind you at first i did think!...cough cough! that perhaps I might be pregnant! LOL! HA! (as if) I have not had my monthly for a few months now! and I was getting a bit of heartburn....and then I felt a bit of movement in my belly! and I started thinking OMG! what if! could I be!....and then I remembered, that i was a greedy old cow and that I was probably suffering from heartburn and WIND due to the fact that I had been a FAT PIG over Easter and devoured a whole box of LINDT LINDORS to myself BURP! Pardon Me! :D

Not to mention the fact that I am now having to wear my 'Olive' from 'On the Buses' Bi-focals now nearly all the time! (Rosie said they looked good on me in the opticians! we have laughed about that day, ever since and every time I put them on! lil' ratbag!) Will life get any better than this! lol!

HAPPY EASTER TO ONE AND ALL

Happy Easter to all my blogging friends...I hope you have a lovely weekend!
Usually I make a big old thing of Easter, but this year, I feel like it has got here in no time and I am no way prepared!

We have not been invited anywhere, so it will be a quiet long weekend at home, which is kinda how I like it....also it has been soooo cold, I feel like it should be at the end of April and not this weekend...usually my cherry tree is full of blossom but it is so bare and it feels more like a day in January than any Easter holiday celebration.

As you know I have had the crafting bug and have been making and creating all kinds of things ready to put onto my website in the coming weeks, so I shall probably carry on with those projects this weekend depending on how cold it is!

I have had a few trips out lately, but mainly for check ups at the hospital etc.
lol! I received a letter a couple of weeks ago telling me that I needed a mammogram...apparently they were currently calling all women in my area, between the age of 50 and 70! well did I feel OLD or what!...and what a treat that was! never in a million years did I think my boobies could be rolled out that far! i know it is all for the best and the test is a brilliant one...but! Goodness Me! would they ever be the same again! ;)

Also I have had a couple of faux pars with my hair...insisting that I wanted bright pink hair instead of red! yep everywhere I go lately, it seems the red has caught on and it is now NOT the Wow! look at you colour that it used to be....well to cut a long story short! I ended up having bright pink 2 inch roots and bright red hair...I actually quite liked it but Rosie thought is was hilarious and pointed it out to people wherever we went!...lol!

Then in between all of that I became a kind of dark ruby pink, which made me look rather ill...only to be told at the Mammogram appointment by another 50-70 year old that she had had my colour since she was 12! hmmm! me finks not! seeing that her hair looked a rather rusty blonde...apparently a colour she has every summer! for a change!
Needless to say I came home in quite a bad mood (and with flat tits lol!) and that afternoon my hair was back to vibrant red again yay!

Once gain...I hope you all have a very HAPPY EASTER....

Yep...sorry! I have been a bad blogger and haven't blogged for a little over a week...but I have been having soooo much fun...so surely I am excused!

I have been living like a teenager...as for most of the days I have been in my PJ's, but I have been having such a fun time creating stuff that the time has flown by and everyone that has come and gone!...simply roll their eyes at all the mess, they have been sooo understanding...as I am having a CREATIVE BLITZ

The Ironing pile on the stairs is 10 foot high (I might have to hide all that soon! ;))...The washing pile...is 40 foot high, the floor is full of cotton, paper scraps, pins (ouch), string and all sorts....everywhere needs dusting and the dog needs a wash...! But not too worry!....

Happy has the sewing machine out...

so don't stand still! otherwise you will get made into something a little cheery ;)

Yep I don't know how long my creative juices are going to flow...so I am just keeping you posted and of course when I have taken pictures of everything I will show you what I have been making.

I am not sure what has sparked this creative event, but I am going with it!

This week I am featuring PINK FRIDAY as my sole HAPPY MONDAY Inspiration.
I found her in my Happy Home Decoration Group and I have fallen in love.

I love the way she 'digs' the Happy Shabby look, but has a gentler colour scheme, with a splash of the NO GO (for me that is! :)) Orange and purple here and there...it all adds up to a fruity cutie kinda look, don't you think?

Check out her lovely little work space area...so fresh and inspiring.

And what a cute cat...I think I might have to get me one of those! Not sure if Max would agree with me though!

I am smitten again with Cath Kidston

Yep! a while back I was beginning to think Cath Kidston and the team had lost their way...only my opinion, although I did blog about it a couple of times and quite a few of you agreed with me!...

I mean! C'mon! Black and grey do not fit into the Happy House Mantra and whilst I understand that they were trying to appeal to a wider audience, I was a little bit skeptic!

I did also happen to voice my opinion with one of the CK team and she was very sad that I felt that way...because I have been an avid fan of the, then, Marmite effect...( "People either love it and want a little bit of it very much, or want to stab us." Cath's words) Cath Kidston brand since 1993 the year my Rosie was born...and Cath opened her first shop in Notting Hill.

As most of you know, Freddy and I used to sell vintage pieces to Cath, back in the day and although she is an extremely lovely person to all she meets, we became part of the family back then...the staff used to know us on a first named basis as we sold her many a lovely vintage fabric which were featured in her first book PRINT!..we were also on her friends and family list...and received discounted goods.

These days and as time has gone by, she has become more and more popular with more and more people liking, recognizing and coveting her brand themselves.

lol! I remember back in 2004, when we introduced a line of crockery into our little shop in Rochester, Kent and people would look at it...and ask 'who is Cath Kidston'? lol! it seems ridiculous now, but that is how people were, they never really bought something unless it was a known brand!

These days and what with the 'make do and mend' culture and the very large Vintage trend, people are a bit more adventurous with liking all kinds of things, whether they are popular or not! and now Cath IS popular...infact very popular indeedy and good luck to her and all who sail in her lol!..

You now see people everywhere sporting the latest bag...even people that wear polar bear fleeces lol! (private joke)

So last year, when the black and grey prints ventured onto the scene...I started to think Oh NO! here we go! I thought she had ventured into the NO GO Plain Janes Zone! and that's when I started to fall out of love!

Really with the trend being so popular, I should of blogged about the brand every week and carried on saying how much I loved it still...to make my blog more popular...but I just couldn't do that....You see if I do not like something I will not blog about it...SIMPLE AS!

But now this year....I am going to have to eat humble pie, because Cath has taken the team to new heights...and I am back in love all over again, I especially love the checks and flower print, this fits so much more into my Happy House mantra as we are the home of roses and checks...did they listen to what I was saying?

Na probably not, but one thing is for sure....I will be back now queuing with all the others in line, to purchase my wonderful Cath goodies a few of which I have shown you here (my favourites and a hint for my gang for Mother's Day ;)) but please please please, don't buy everything when you are shopping...and make sure there is one or two items left on the shelf for me to purchase too.

1. Her Grandfather is Glen Kidston a famous racing driver back in the 1920's
2. Her cousin is Kirsty Allsopp
3. She was once employed by the Famous Nicky Haslam
4. She has been given an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire)
5. In 2010 she sold a major stake in her Company to TA Associates, but still maintaining a minority stake and still remaining as the Company's Creative Director.

What I love about this new collection, is that she has bought back some of my old favourite prints...the classic strawberry and the green spotty, are a delight to see again...I still have items in these patterns from a good 15 years ago!

And then you have the train print on this lovely tea dress above, which is sooo like a dress my Mum was photographed in, back in the 1950's...
what a lovely piece of clobber!

My Craft Room Makeover

Oh my gawd! look! Its Wednesday already and Happy Monday along with Tuneful Tuesday has all gone out of the window this week!...Yep its official! I am in one of those moods! You know the kind! I feel very creative and my head has been filled up with plenty of ideas and yet I keep changing my mind about what to do and in the end I get nothing done!

I have been feeling like that since last week!...I have a list! yep a good idea that! write down everything that you need to do....and then realise after no. 49...that, that is really too much for anyone in their right mind to get around to doing and then sit back down again for a rest! ;)

So that has been my week so far...I have just sat down now at my computer desk, ready to start work and I seem to be placing custard creams (shh! don't tell the diabetic nurse!) into my mouth like it was a winter Olympic Sport!....Its not too bad though as I am pulling them apart and only eating the custard cream side...Half the fat! (Max is eating the other bit!) Yay!

Anyway! before you all get totally BORED about the custard creams and all that MILARKIE...I thought I would show you pictures of my craft room re-vamp...now it is finished!

Some things have stayed the same....but to organise myself a little bit better I have added that rather 'Horrid' black plastic draw unit into the ensemble! I know, I know...it is rather grotesque...but I have a place for everything now...and my mind (although full of ideas) feels more 'filed'!

As you can see here...below...I have a draw for badges...

In fact I even have empty draws! lol! no pun intended!

The week before...I thought the only way to organise myself was to get a 'LOAD' of Kilner jars, so off to the RANGE I went...skipping and a hopping! (more like skipping and a hobbling) lol ( I did at first write hobberling...but when I looked it up in the dictionary lol! it meant 'A person who possesses feet like a hobbit, short and hairy'! :D) ...Hmmm! moving on!

But to my surprise...when I arrived to the said shop, somebody had had the idea before me! and had already bought some....so I was only able to purchase 12! OMG! I know what you are saying! But I thought to organise myself, I needed at least 24 as I have acquired so many bits and bobs...

I then got home and in between snoozing on the sofa through lunch...I had a brainwave about the drawer unit...you see it was hiding in Rosie's bedroom in the wardrobe...she hadn't used it for yonks, so I sneaked into her room and got them out...its like taking part in the Krypton Factor getting anything outta there at the moment! shhhheeesssh! It so needs a Spring Clean...but I managed to get both the units out with only knocking over one cup, two bottles and a precariously placed lamp standing on 17 books! lol!...RESULT!

Voila! my mission was accomplished....and she still hasn't realised yet, that they are missing from her room! lol!....Yes look here how organised I am now...I have even put bits into my jars...although for the life of me! I don't know why I had to put labels on these jars! As that is the whole point of glass jars! lol! YOU CAN SEE THROUGH THEM!...DeR!

So I have a list....and the first thing on it was to list 30 items on my website...well its nearly 4 o'clock now and here I am talking to you ;)
So I hope you have enjoyed my little conversation with you all and I do hope you have enjoyed the pictures I have put here for you...Rosie has just come back from her driving lesson and is demanding all unsundry...so I will have to go!

Hopefully I will get to list some more new items on my website at sometime today!

I am sure we are sisters separated at birth, as we both love primary colours and love love love clashing them all together....However not only does our lovely Jenny clash colours...she is also a brilliant artist and has worked with many publishers in illustrating books for children....you might have already seen her work all over the internet before, she is a true talent and some-one well worthy of a visit to say hello too!

I have been friends with Jenny all my blogging years...back when we started there seemed to only be a few thousand blogs...and now there are millions and trillions, So you can imagine that Jenny now has a BIG HUGE following, and rightly so, as she is a Maker and Creator Extraordinaire.

I think perhaps because we share the same surname, we are kindred spirits and hopefully one day we will meet over many a coffee and cake and catch up with all the gossip and chatter that has made up our blogging careers....until then, I am sharing with you the lovely Jenny B Harris...my now and forever friend.

Happily Getting Organised

This week I have tried to get a bit organised...I have finally sorted out my craft room...which is actually my laundry room/walk through/cold house...but I have decided to put all my crafty things in there to make space in here (the dining room) for all my webshop goodies...

...And I think I have it all sorted, it was really nice yesterday, packing up parcels to send from my website in the Dining room, knowing where everything was, really helped and it was a joy to use my new Box in a Box, (top pic) cardboard organiser too!

I ordered this from an ebay seller and rather than having all my pens, scissors and tape in a pencil case...I can now see what I have in front of me...so I think I have solved that messy problem too....hey get me! I'm cooking on Gas this week! lol!

I think I have had the 'Let's get organised' bug because we have had a little bit of sunshine, here in the south...and that always helps doesn't it :)

What have you been up to this week? have you had any sunshine? and if so, has it made you want to finish an old project or start a new one?

Max and the Girls

Hello there my name is Max and as you know my Mummy is called Happy!
Well please do not tell her, but you see this 'ere picture...isn't it awful!

It's full of Spanish ladies with material skirts on Postcards (WOOF!)...
Well I expressed to Mummy by growling at it a few times...my disgust!...but she ignored me!

(WOOF!)...so as it was propped up against a chair and my Mummy was admiring it (looking at THAT and not ME!)...I ran up to it and pushed it very hard with my nose!

(O MY WOOF!)

Well it came HURTLING towards me at a rate of knots! and scared the cats whiskers outta me!...I RAN very fast BACKWARDS (WOOF!) and barked A LOT! and when Mummy looked at me, I gave her my (IT WASN'T ME) look (ABOVE).

...And then I gave her this...

Oh Mummy, I am too cute for you to tell me off, aren't I, look!....
And then I got a BIG Cuddle (WOOF!) from her!
Lol Grrr! She is such a sucker!

I have been listening to Rainy Milo this afternoon and thought I would share her eclectic vibe with you....she sounds very like the late Miss Amy Winehouse, that's probably why I like her a lot!
