2011-05-17T19:20:00.000-05:00

Dillons and Hy-Vee ads come out tomorrow. Check back tomorrow night for the best deals. Dillons is owned by Kroger and ofter the Kroger ads are very close to what Dillons has. This week Kroger has Colgate toothpaste and tooth brushes on sale for 88 cents! If Dillons does the same deal, then that means a lot of FREE toothpaste. If you need some coupons for it, $1.00 off, check out the May All you magazine or if you want them for FREE go to Walgreens and pick up the Diabetes Health Magazine, found in the pharmacy department (you may want to grab a few)!

I'm just hoping this will be a deal in the ad tomorrow. Check back and I'll let you know all the good deals tomorrow!

Pizza Hut $5 Buffet Coupon

2011-05-16T22:49:00.001-05:00

I'm not a big of fan of the print at home coupons, I just don't have time to sit and print coupons. But I do sometimes print coupons at work. Not a bunch of coupons, like for deodorants, but often they are for what I plan to eat for lunch that day. My husband and I really enjoy the fact we can go to lunch together. He picks me up 2 or 3 times a week and we go out to eat. I really treasure the time we have to do that because very soon, due to his deployment, I won't have that time with him. (sorry for all the personal notes, this blog is a way for me to stay busy and not think about him leaving, and then when he does leave, it will be a way to not focus on him being gone, bare with me!)

Anyways there is a coupon on Pizza Hut's website for a $5 buffet. I can't just put the link up because it won't directly take you to the coupon. So here is how to find the coupon!
Go to: www.pizzahut.com
Click Deals
Click Exclusive Deals
Click Carryout
Enter Zip (I used mine 66614)
Click on Either Topeka Blvd or Gage Location
Click Deals (again)
Towards the bottom is the coupon for the $5.00 Buffet.

Free is good, stealing is bad.

2011-05-16T22:33:00.001-05:00

I went to Subway yesterday for lunch. On my receipt there was a free drink if you go to their website and fill out a survey. I thought what a great freebie! Remember to check your receipts for free offers!

Now on to the stealing. In the case above, that is not stealing. However what I witnessed at Subway yesterday was a horrible scam. A guy walked in, ordered his sub, then went to pay for it and some how his money and credit cards were missing from his wallet. He told the cashier, just a second I'll call someone to bring me some money. He then pretended to make some calls and walked back over to the cashier and said that no one answered. He then said just throw it away. The lady behind the counter felt sorry for him and said just take the sandwich since I have to throw it away. As he walked out he gave a thumbs up to his buddy in the car as if saying "yes it worked!" Then his buddy expressed excitement.

I guess there is a slight chance this guy was for real and really did lose all the contents of his wallet, but I find that hard to believe. Scams like this is not getting a good deal. It is stealing. I really hope he grows up and figures out what he is doing is wrong.

Walgreens Trip on 5-16

2011-05-16T20:47:00.000-05:00

So I broke one of my #1 rules. Go to Walgreens on Sunday. That way they are not out of the sale items. Well I paid for it today. I ended up going to 3 Walgreens. But I have a good reason I didn't go on Sunday, my husband Neil had drill all weekend and I wanted to spend time with him. Just a little about my personal life and then I will get to the deals at Walgreens! Neil is deploying to Iraq at the end of August, however he goes on active duty starting July 5th (very soon)! So I do not have much time with him and want to spend time with him before he leaves. However come July 5th, i'll have plenty of time to update this blog!

Okay on to the Walgreens trip.

Store 1
I get to the first Walgreens at the end of Wannamaker. I was going to buy the Gillette body washes 3/$10 with $3 in RR. However no body washes! So I grabbed Old Spice body wash which is on the same deal. I bought 4 of them. I had 2 bogo coupons and 1 $1 off coupon when you buy 2. No questions asked. Used my coupons and got my $3RR. Out of Pocket Cost (before tax) 5.68, minus $3RR Final Cost $2.68 for 4! or 67cents each!
Normally 4.49 each, or $17.96 Total, a 85% Savings!

Store 2
Next store was at 29th and Gage. Still looking for the Gillette body washes. I finally found them! The deal I was working was buy 3/$10 get $3 in RR. I also had 4 $2 off coupons and coupons for buy one body wash get one free deodorant. So I filled my basket with 4 Gillette body washes and 4 deodorants.

Why 4 you ask? Because deodorants are buy one get one 50% off. I knew the computer would already take off $5.50 for the buy one get on 50% sale on the deodorants and then my free coupons would take off $4.99 each or $19.96 total. Technically the clerk should have lowered the coupons down to $2.75 (the actual price I was to pay for them) but from reading other blogs I found out that this was how it would ring up. So I thought I would give it a try and it did!

So the deal works out like this.
4 Body Washes for $13.34
4 Deodorants for $19.96
Total $33.30
Minus Buy one get one 50% off Deodorants -$5.50
Minus 4 $2 coupons -$8
Minus 4 ($4.99) Buy one get one free deodorants -$19.96
Minus $3 in RR you get for buying 3 body washes.
Final total $ - 3.16 plus Tax.

Retail cost for these 8 items $37.92, 108% savings!

Store 3
Here I did the same deal as at store one, however I did run into a problem with the cashier. This was at 21st and Fairlawn. I went to check out and the cashier told me I couldn't use 2 of the bogo coupons and 1 of the $1 off 2. I polity let her know that I could and that I just did at a different Walgreens. She replied that she did not think the computer would let her do it. I then said it would and if she need a copy of the store coupon policy I could provide it for her. She then scan the coupon and it worked! I smiled and took my great deal out of the store. This could happen to you too! Carry a copy of the coupon policy in case you ever have a problem like this. Just be polite and if you have to, ask for a manager!

Request for Deals on Razors and Laundry Detergent this week.

2011-05-15T20:34:00.000-05:00

I just had a friend/follower ask about deals on Laundry Detergent and Razors this week. These items were just on sale the last two weeks and right now the deals are not as great. However she needs them now. What I suggest is buy just what she needs to get by for the moment and then when they go back on sale, stock up.

Laundry Detergent:

Wisk Laundry Detergent is on sale at CVS for $4.99. This Sunday's paper has a $2.00 off coupon, making the price for 32 loads, $2.99, this is just an okay price.

Tide is on sale at Walgreens for $5.99, I have $.75 off coupon, again not a great deal, but it would get you by.

All Laundry Detergent is on Sale at Walgreens BOGO. I do not have any coupons for this, but if you have 2 coupons for All that would sweeten this deal.

Razors:

Gillette 3 pack disposable razors are Buy one get 1 50% off. Normally they are $6.99 so 2 would be $10.49. I have a $4 off coupon when you buy 2. Final cost would be $6.49 for 2. or $3.25 each. 54% savings. This is good deal.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razors are still on sale. Sale Price 9.89 with $5 in RR. Making them $4.89. This is a good price, however two weeks ago in the paper there was a $4.00 off coupon, making these $.89 each. That was an amazing deal.

Walgreens Huggies Diaper Sale

2011-05-15T20:12:00.001-05:00

I'm not a mom yet, but from what I heard most moms are brand loyal. Last week pampers were on sale at Walgreens. This week it is Huggies.

Here is the Deal.
Ad 2/$18 with $3RR. Making them 2/$15. Then in this Sunday's paper there is a coupon for $2.00 off (use 2)
Price then is 2/$9. Not as great of sale like the Pampers last week, however if you like Huggies this is a good deal!

Also summer is coming, even though it does not feel like it today, Huggies Little Swimmers are not on sale, but there is a good coupon stack if you need them right now. Normally $9.99, there is a $2.00 off coupon in this Sunday's paper, pair that with Walgreens May Savings Booklet for $2.00 off. Final price $5.99.

McDoanlds freebie and Coupon

2011-05-15T13:35:00.001-05:00

This is worth its own post!

There is a coupon for a free 12 oz Frozen Strawberry Lemonade and $1.00 off a Medium or Large Frappe or Fruit Smoothie from McDonalds in this Sunday's paper, both KC Star and CJ.

Pairing that $1.00 of with happy hour (2-4) can save you $2.00 off a frappe or smoothie!

KC Star Coupons May 15th Highlights

2011-05-15T12:03:00.000-05:00

The KC Star has all the coupons from the inserts in the CJ paper, plus more! Here are some highlights of coupons only found in the KC Star.

Many Oscar Mayer coupons
Many Johnson and Johnson coupons, including a free build your own first aid kit
$.60 off Jello snacks
Huggies and Huggie swimmer coupons (great to pair with the in-store Walgreens coupons, also they are on sale this week at Walgreens.) I'll post later about diaper deals this week!
$1.00 off of Pert products. On Sale now at Walgreens.
Coupons for Kotex, now on sale at Walgreens

There are many more coupons than listed. Make sure to pick up at least 2 copies of the KC Star this week!

Capital Journal Coupons 5-15

2011-05-15T11:42:00.000-05:00

Highlights of coupons inside:

$1.00 off 2 ziploc bags
$.30 off French's Mustard. Often goes on sale at Dillons for a dollar. Dillons doubles the coupon, makes the cost $.40
$1.00 off KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. Another often $1 item at Dillons
$1.00 off Nivea Body Wash On Sale Now @ CVS.
BOGO Gillette Deodorant
$2.00 off One Gillette Body Wash Gillette Products on Sale now at Walgreens. I will be posting soon the best way to make the most of these coupons this week at Walgreens.

There are many more coupons, but these are the ones I think are most worth it!

Sunday Papers

2011-05-15T11:28:00.001-05:00

I just bought both the CJ and KC Star.

Both had 2 inserts, Red Plum and Smart Source, but both inserts in the KC Star were larger. The KC Star had coupons in them that the CJ inserts did not. I would suggest buying the KC Star this week. I plan to go back and buy 3 more copies of it. It would be best to at least buy 2 copies.

There is a coupon for a free 12 oz Frozen Strawberry Lemonade and $1.00 off a Medium or Large Frappe or Fruit Smoothie from McDonalds.

Pairing that $1.00 of with happy hour (2-4) can save you $2.00 off a frappe or smoothie!

CVS May 15th ad

2011-05-15T00:41:00.001-05:00

The CVS May 15th ad is posted. Click here to check out the ad.

I've just quickly looked through the ad for deals. Once I know what coupons will be in our Sunday paper I'll post a full match up. However until then, here is what I'm buying.

Dove Chocolate bars 2/$3 with 2 $.75 off coupons.
Dove Chocolate bags 2/$6. I'm buying one bag with the coupon from May All You $2.00 off with purchase of greeting card.
Herbal Essences 2/$3.97 after EBC. With 2 $.50 coupons
Finesse Shampoo/Conditioners 2/$5 with 2 $1.00 coupons from May All You.
Purex Complete Crystals $3.99. I have 2 $1.00 coupons. My husband loves these and our clothes smell so great even after being hung up for a week. This is not the cheapest have seen them, but we are out and they are still a really great price even without the coupons.
Nivea products are on sale and if you spend $15, before coupons, you receive $5 in ECB. I also have 6 $1.00 off coupons from the May All You magazine. Between the coupons and ECB, this should turn out to be a great deal. I will let you know what I end up getting!

All You Magazine

2011-05-15T00:28:00.000-05:00

All You magazine is published every month. To get magazine you either need to subscribe ($19.90 a year, they do run special deals often) or buy it at Walmart.

Just like I suggest buying at least two newspapers, it would be a good idea to pick up two of these magazines.

The magazine has many articles, recipes and tips that are entertaining, but the coupons inside really sweeten the deal. On the cover its advertises what the coupons inside are worth, however this is misleading as they count in coupons for places (mostly clothing stores) that require a certain amount purchased in order to save. For example this month there is a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $25 or more to Cathrine. But if you are already planning to shop there than that would be a great deal.

The May issue is still at Walmart. The date on it is May 20th so you should still be able to find it until then. A quick search on the internet will give you a list of all the coupons. I'm just going to list out a few of what I think are the better coupons inside.

$3.00 off of Rimmel Perfect Match Foundation. Often CVS and Wags (Walgreens) will have this on sale.

$1.00 off White Cloud toilet paper. This is only found at Walmart, but it works on the smallest packages, which only cost $2.00, making the cost just a dollar.

$1.00 off Nivea Body Wash or Shower Gel and $1.00 off Nivea lip care. These will be on sale at CVS starting May 15th.

$3.00 off any Neutrogena Cosmetic Product. Often CVS and Wags (Walgreens) will have this on sale. Great to have 2 of these because of Bogo sales.

$1.00 off any Eucerin Body or Face product. Other product that goes on sale at CVS and Wags often

$1.00 off Playtex Sport Tampons

$1.00 off of Finess products. This is going on sale at CVS starting May 15th.

$1.00 off Colgate toothpaste. Always going on sale, most often this will make it free!

$.50 off of Texas Toast Croutons. These often go on sale at Dillons for $1. Dillons will double this coupon making it free!

$1.00 of Country Crock spread. The smallest container are often sold for right around a $1. Should be free or just pennies.

$2.00 off Dove chocolate with purchase of a greeting card. Purchase a cheap $.49 card and Dove chocolate when it goes on sale at Wags for 2/6. Then use the coupon from the Wags coupon book. Making a great deal!

Be sure to check out the All You magazine for even more coupons then mentioned above.

Searching for Free Coupons

2011-05-14T19:27:00.002-05:00

Coupons are everywhere! Have you seen them? It is amazing what you can find when you just look!

Blinkies: Those little machines that spit out coupons. They can be found at most stores. The key to making the most of these machines is not to buy the item right then. Rather grad a couple of the coupons and wait for the product to go on sale.

Display Coupons: These are coupons that are in special holders promoting a product. Much like blinkies, unless it is on sale, just grab a couple and save.

Tear Pads: Look for displays that have tear pads on them. This have the same idea as the blinkies, wait to use these coupons until the product goes on sale.

Attached to Products: These are coupons that are attached to the product. Please only take these coupons if you are buying the product right then. Often if someone takes the coupon to save, others will not buy that box, and it is useless to the store. However if you are going to buy the product do remember to take the coupon off right away and put it into you coupon stack so you don't forget to use it.

Coupons inside Products: Check the packaging for coupons inside. Butter, cereal, snack food are among many of those who put coupons in their products. If you know or can see that there is a coupon inside, go ahead an open the package to use the coupon. However please to do open packages inside the just to "check" for coupons.

Random Coupons: These are my favorite coupons! What happens is someone goes into the store with their coupons, but decides not to buy the product they have a coupon for. Instead of taking the coupons back home with them, they just leave them on the shelf. At that point I like to pick them up and stick them in my coupon holder. Be careful, sometimes they are left behind because they are expired!

Remember you too can leave some random coupon kindness. Say you clip coupons for cat treats, but you do not have a cat, or have friends that could use them, next time you are at the store, just leave near the product they are for so someone else can come by and use them. However stores will remove them when they clean up for the night, so try to do it earlier in the day.

P&G Samples and Coupons

2011-05-14T18:33:00.001-05:00

Have you signed up for your P&G samples and coupons yet? Click here to sign up. P&G makes a lot of everyday products we use such as Tide, Bounty, Crest, Pampers, and many more. By signing up for this you will receive many samples of their products and coupons. Often these coupons are even better than the ones they have in the Sunday papers.

Free Wonder Bread Coupons

2011-05-14T18:09:00.002-05:00

I recently wrote a quick message to Wonder Bread about how my husband loves eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on their bread. I simply went to their website and clicked "Contact" and filled out the form. It took maybe 2 minutes max. Then about a week later I got 4 coupons in the mail. Each for a free loaf of bread. Just remember don't lie when you fill out the form, give them real feed back, if you or your family love Wonder Bread let them know that, or if you never tried Wonder Bread tell them that too and why you've never tried it. Try it out and comment below if you get coupons. Click here for the link to the Contact form.

Price List

2011-05-14T17:37:00.000-05:00

Starting out couponing, it sometimes is hard to know what really is a good deal. Click here for a list of what you should expect to pay for certain items with coupons. Anytime you can buy something for less than this list price, means time to stock up at least a 3moth supply. If the price is close to to the target price, but not under, buy what you will need for about a month. If you really need the product right now, buy just what you need to get by, keeping in mind any savings is a good thing!
