you know, when you are a blogger and you find a thing on the internet and you check it every now and then and you decide to write about it, but on special occasion. or you just have a friend who you would like to introduce, but he/she has to blog a post or two... :)

so - a good friend of mine, miha, started a blog. it actually started about 10 years ago, when he fell in love with photography and then few years ago he fell in love with cooking and then he bought few vines and made his own wine for the first time in his life and now... now he started a blog.

we celebrated his birthday recently.
i did a slideshow and it was such fun browsing through the life of a person, who is so close to me. you think you know somebody so much, but i think his childhood photos disarmed me totally. it added whole new dimension to knowing him...

and i was really amazed by photos. black and white, perfect quality and few polaroids. just like in movies. you know, your little personal treasury. we, me and my love, are leaving pretty same legacy to kids will come after us.

but, it just made me realize. i adore women with bobbed haircut. :) there's something about bangs, that's just elegant, eternal and simply hard to resist. best haircut ever. :)

we're about to have a referendum about the family code.

we're about to reinvent the family.

redefine it.

the parliament accepted the family code on 16th of June 2011 and after i think it was written well enough to protect children, it doesn't insult anyone and it made perfect sense about what the family is. it explained about foster homes, communities of family with non married parents,... defines everything well. sure, the lawyers and such would probably want to add a thing or two, but in my opinion it didn't offend anyone.

still, the opposite side thinks family should not exist of child and two homosexual parents.

they think it's not healthy and right for the child. they think it's unnatural for a child to develop in such family. this is like a flashback in times when it was popular to burn the witches and in times of slavery and no rights for black people.

the opposition consists of conservative right political parties, of church and a group of promoters against law of family code. they've managed to get 40 000 signatures of people, who are against it. and now soon, we will have referendum to make a decision.

let me put it this way - if the law gets rejected children will not be able to be adopted by two parents of same sex.
you know?
if the law fails, children will be 'protected' by taking rights from homosexual people.

this is barely a fact i've written here. it worries me how people are afraid of homosexual people. i have homosexual friends of both sex and not once has anyone of them said something that would insult heterosexual.

i feel bad for all the situation. i think it's allowed to have an opinion, but in this case we're taking rights from another group of people in way it happened before 1955. this is an insult by all these 40 000 of people, who signed something like this and who want to change law for 'the good of everyone'.

i would like to make it clear - if the law fails, it's not going to happen in my name. i accept all kinds of people and i don't judge you by your sexuality, skin color, music taste, beliefs, religion.
the only thing that needs to be judged is narrow mind and blindness of these 40 000 people.
i would kind of like to see them trip over the loop they are preparing for other people.

i would love to hear what you think about this....

election 2011

we're about to have parliamentary elections, on 4th of december, to be exact.

i was always more drawn by elections in other countries than in my own. there, it was just more exciting, more was going on and it was going on for real. it didn't give me the feeling of babysitting the boys next door, who are just fighting over melting ice cream...

i'm feeling that the point of elections in our country this year is just to make another guy look real bad. not even for yourself to look good, but just to defeat the other side. nobody has dreams around here, nobody really cares for people, for jobs, for pensions, for health insurance... they do talk about it, but all i really see is the fight over three adolescents about who has more pimples. and they're about to lead the country. the men, who create the future of this/my country.

but that's not my area, i could discuss colors, pictures, film, posters, for instance.

i read an interesting post from my friend about posters and their promo material for the elections.

i couldn't agree more with her. in her essay she speaks about the lack of creativity of their pre-election concept, instead to draw the people to their political party is seen on posters. one big bold boringessnessness, you know. it's so boring, the word hasn't been made up yet!

those few posters that i saw around town are ridiculous. it's not that i miss the invasion and the quantity of the posters, i find the lack of creativity very much disappointing.

but the most fascinated i am by this poster:

the sign on the bottom says: THE TEAM FOR THE FUTURE

this one is awesome in my opinion. i was drawn to it by the pose the leader of the party has behind the table. the 'i-know-what-i'm-doing-and-i'm-looking-goooood'.
and, if you ask me, they did a research in artistic fields.

man behind the table is a man, who knows what he wants and is in the making of it. he's doing it right now. he's capable and working. you know. he's already there, it's for us to keep up with him. he is leading something already.
the question here is WHAT is he working on? it's making me think that they took this picture so long ago, just to be prepared, but as it is hanging all over the town, it seems to me that this is actually the only picture, where i could see them working. however, they look good.
and if they are the team for the future... are they going to solve all the problems like this? pro et contra lists? this... is... brilliant if so... i could... JOIN them next year... right? they do... they'll take me... i have plenty of markers in various colors...

the pose is what i like the most. i could dare to say i love it. it is... rembrandt kind of pose. the hunter, you know. the might leader and his warriors. he's there to win it. they have projector and they're brainstorming. you can never underestimate the power of few men brainstorming together. that's some serious crap there.

it kind of reminded me of this picture:

this is not my political statement, i am not mocking at their political stands, i am just extremely irritated by elections in general, but this year particularly. but something tells me next time won't be any different...

i found a rubik's cube in my sister's bedroom and i tried to solve it, but... you can't just solve it.
it probably sounds logic, but when you hold it in your hands and you do the turns, it looks so easy...
you don't think of algorithms.

after two days i gave up and simply 'youtubed' it...

i found this brilliant how-to video!!!
perfectly simple for anyone.

it still takes me 15 minutes to solve it + i have to take a peak at the video + my cube (became mine, yes) doesn't have smooth turns like the one on the video, but hey! it's not like i'm preparing for a competition... yet. :)

with the brilliant link to the great floor make over? i actually put it there to inspire other folks, but it worked on me! i decided to give it a try. i did a research on several pages all over the internet and picked up the most 'suitable' stencil for my floor at the balcony:

i am satisfied with the result. i am still not done yet, because this requires some strong nerves, gloves without fingertips and at least a yellow belt in pilates. and, yes, it took me about 3 days to do this much.
but i had millions of coffee breaks in between. i was trying to have fun, not to break a record...

a suggestion: maybe you should make a better version of the stencil, maybe other way around. what i did was: i cut out of plastic this shape and before painting floor, i circled the template and then i painted it on the inside. sounds like double work, but i think this was the best way to have it nicely done. because at more as i was going to the left, more i was improvising, less i was using the stencil, more it looks like i was drunk while doing it. you can see it on the last photo. i could use the roller and simply dip it in the color/paint, but i like this victorian kind of pattern.

i really like it, this horrible mess, you know. and i like how it looks like tiles, but they're not. and cats love it too.

for the next project (we have a larger place with the floor that i want to paint) i will paint some random patterns, stencils are not my passion after all. and also - after this i got this incredible brainstorming with what i could do with paint and colors too (white color here was a wish!) and what else i could do... somebody stop me! :)
