Post Championship Mavericks

2011-06-16T14:51:00.001-04:00

After the 105-95 win over the Miami Heat the Dallas Mavericks then showed up at Club LIV in Miami with the championship trophy. The team members then got on the stage and ordered 100 bottles of Ace Of Spades. This may have been seen as being unprofessional but when your star player Dirk Nowitzki is struggling in the first half and yet you still manage to win a game, not just a NBA finals game, but your first championship, it is quite worth celebrating.

Personally I wasn’t expecting Miami to get past Chicago, but the hunger that they showed proved me wrong. Congratulations to them for making it that far. The Mavericks was the typical underdog every Miami and even Non-Miami fans expected to fail. Never underestimate determination, passion and heart in athletes, Congratulations to the 2011 NBA Champions.

In other news though… Deshawn Stevenson, Mavericks Shooting Guard/Small Forward may have had a little too much party in him because he was arrested that night for Public Intoxication after police were called when he was wandering aimlessly in an Apartment Complex after the club early that morning. He posted the $475 bail the following morning… but hey, at least he wasn’t driving. Also, he has a funny sense of humor because he said he was Lost and has a pretty cool shirt (Shown below on right)

Drink in Moderation Folks… even after Championships.

Boston Celtics: 2010-2011 Champions

2010-12-28T23:00:00.000-05:00

Written By: @YourLameAFo_O

In my personal opinion the Boston Celtics probably have the best squad this year. The way they’re looking with their new additions it looks like they’ve been playing together for years. Just in case you have been sleeping under a rock the past couple of months, the Celtics have since added to their squad: rookie Avery Bradley & Luke Harengody; Turkish player Semih Erden, Delonte West, Von Wafer and All Stars former All Stars: Jermaine & Shaquille O’Neal to their star studded roster.

The “Big 3” along with their often overlooked floor leader, Rajon Rondo, averages 13.8 assists, 2.35 steals, and 11.2 points per game. Franchise Captain Paul “The Truth” Pierce contributes 18.2 points per game while supporting cast Kevin Garnett & Ray Allen average 15.6 and 16.9 points per game respectively… Not to mention the spectacular playing from the Celtics bench. This current group of players is probably the strongest, and one of the deepest, in the league right now. With their excellent defensive skills (6th in the League in Steals per game) and very diverse group of Rookies and Vets, this Celtics team will go all the way and win the championship. Looks like you Lakers fans better watch out.

I am Soooooo ANGRY that I missed this game today. This score is that of a college basketball game which means the defense didn’t even come to play. Sadly enough the game probably wasn’t even that good, From the look of the highlights there were no practical plays but I wouldn’t know. Enjoy

Great defense always has a way of creating offense, usually quick scores because people cant get back on defense. Typically the team with the least turnovers will win the game, steals area large part of that. Think about it, any fast break from a steal usually ends in a high percentage bucket. So for every 1 steal you can get 2 points. that’s a nice turnaround.

A quick highlight clip from the undefeated New Orleans hornets playing the “Dynasty” Miami Heat team. they definitely don’t look or play as good as they should be with all the superstars they have acquired but I kind of knew it was gonna happen. a team isn't about superstars, its about how people play together. They need more practice. Box Scores for the Game Below

Knicks vs Wizards Dunk of the Night

2010-11-06T01:30:00.000-04:00

By: @JohnnyMagma

The Knicks beat the Washington Wizards tonight in the Garden, after reopening because of Asbestos dropping from the ceiling days ago, 112 - 91.

Amare dropped 18 points and grabbed 4 Boards but Toney Douglas (guard) seemed to steal the show stat wise with his 19points, 10 boards, 5 steals, and only 1 turnover… off the bench.

The Wizards simply played subpar with only 3 players in double digits, only 33 points off the bench (18 of which from Gilbert Arenas) and 23 turnovers (9 of which by rookie point guard John Wall)

Below is the amazing Baseline Dunk by Wilson Chandler off the bench on McGee… You gotta cut off the baseline and use it as a defender. we learning that in like middle school. C'mon Wizards, pull it together.

Thursday night was a semi good night for Derrick Rose with this MONSTEROUS jam on the New york Knicks to go along with his 24 point 14 assist night… but the Bulls definitely Lost 120 - 122 at home to go 2-2 for the season so far.

Slow Down Ron Ya Killin em… but dont stop it.

The Celtics, the best PROVEN team in the East, went 3 and 1 so far only losing to the Cleveland Cavilers (go figure). But Rondo, who isn't the best scorer in the world, has been making sure his team is being quarterbacked just right. Rajon has started the first 4 games of his season with more assists than any player in NBA history with 67 so far averaging a little more than 16per game. Rondos defense, speed, and passing ability definitely makes him arguably one of the best Point Guards in the league. We shall see how that bodes for him for the rest of the season and as his Shot Selection/Percentage increases.

P.S. The current record for Most Assist in an NBA season: 1,164 -John Stockton, Utah, 1990-91

A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss…

By: @JohnnyMagma

…and apparently neither does a Minnesota Viking. The Hall of Fame bound Player, Randy Moss, who was JUST traded to the team from the Patriots, was waived. For those of you that don’t follow Sports, it means that after signing him to a contract, they decided he was not worth having him on the team and laid him off. Dang. I’ve been laid off before and it hurts… after getting a new job and being laid off within the month it must hurt even worse. for the next day or so the other teams will have a chance to pick up Moss, pending they can pay him 9 game checks (totaling $3.6million) to play for the remainder of the season… and that’s just a Base salary (yeah that’s $400,000 a check… dang). he looks kinda hurt in this picture above like someone on the sidelines just ate his last Fruit Roll up… maybe that’s why he only had 1 catch for 8yards in the loss against the Pats. Ah well, we shall see where he ends up, Buffalo Bills have the first crack at him for being the worst team and other will have the chance if they pass climbing up the ranks.

PS: for those hoping he will get back to the New England Patriots, every other team in the league would have to pass him up first so don’t hold your breath.

Romo's Season May Be Over

2010-10-26T06:04:00.000-04:00

By: Sucmyknowledge

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo fractured his left clavicle during a 41-35 home loss to the New York Giants on Monday night, another blow to a season that has quickly disintegrated for 1-5 Dallas.

Romo won't know a timetable for recovery until more tests are taken Tuesday. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he was told 6 to 8 weeks, although he noted that Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman once missed just four weeks with a similar injury.

Romo was drilled by blitzing Giants linebacker Michael Boley with 12:07 left in the second quarter Monday night. It was a clean hit, but certainly a big shot -- Boley was untouched, and Romo was vulnerable after having thrown a pass. The quarterback went down hard on his left shoulder and remained flat on his back.

"The guard didn't see me," Boley said. "I came in scot-free. ...

"When he (Romo) hit the ground, I heard him let out a little scream. I knew something was up, but I didn't think he was going to lay down. I thought it was a normal hit. After I got up and started running, I looked back and saw he was down."

Now I am all for good sportsmanship and penalizing people that take end zone celebrations to far, but them penalizing the Cowboys after this touchdown against the Vikings seems excessive. These dudes train and play hard for our enjoyment, let them mofos celebrate. You take a look at it and see if it was warranted by the ref to throw a flag on the play.

New York Got YANKED

2010-10-19T01:38:00.000-04:00

By: @JohnnyMagma

The Yankees got DESSIMATED by the Texans tonight. Cliff lee, Texans Pitcher, struck out 13 in an 8 - 0 win against the New Yorkers, who didn’t even get a hit until the 5th inning (For you non Baseballers that’s more than halfway through regulation game).

As of right now the Rangers are up in the series 2 - 1 in a best of 7 competition. The will get a chance to even up on Tuesday night at 8pm in New York.

Sidenote: This was the WORST shutout lost in Franchise History for the Yankees. They better be fired up after that. Expect them to step it up in Game 4.

Bonamego Firing Didn't Sit Well With Everyone

2010-10-10T06:59:00.000-04:00

By @Urnotcute

The Miami Dolphins fired Bonamego on Tuesday, hours after the New England Patriots annihilated them 41-14. The Patriots scored 21 points off special teams gaffes: a 103-yard kickoff return, a blocked punt and a blocked field goal. Westhoff, (the New York Jets' coordinator), said he reached out to let him know others were thinking of him.

"I'm the guy to do it," said Westhoff, who's in his 28th NFL season. "I've been around the longest. I think I know enough that I can talk from experience on both sides of it, from having good days and bad days. ... I know one thing. I know he appreciated it when we talked."

Westhoff called a play that helped the Jets block a Dolphins punt the week before. As a result, the Dolphins cut linebacker Erik Walden supposedly for not picking up Jets safety Eric Smith on that punt block.

Westhoff is disappointed in the Dolphins' decision and sounded bothered Bonamego took the fall alone, with no players getting released, too.

Randy Moss Going Back Home To The Vikings

2010-10-07T23:31:00.000-04:00

By: @sucmyknowledge

Well after complaining how he didn't feel "appreciated" with New England Patriots. Randy Moss has been traded to the Minnesota Viking. If you didn't know Moss played the first seven years of his career in Minnesota before a trade in 2005 brought him to the Oakland Raiders. On April 29, 2007, Moss was traded to the New England Patriots for a fourth-round draft pick. On October 6, 2010, Moss returned to the Vikings in a trade from the Patriots.

Celtics fans all around are very happy with the teams new addition. The rumors have not been confirmed by the Celtics but sources say that NBA star Shaquille O'Neal’s contract is a two-year deal worth… (drumroll please) $2.8 million! Shaq must have really wanted to go to the Celtics, His Miami Contract was $100million for 5years. Celtics President of Basketball Operations, Danny Ainge, said "Its not everyday you can add someone of Shaquille's caliber to your team."

During his last season, (consisting of 53 games), Shaq averaged 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and a shooting percentage of 56.6%. He is a three time NBA Finals MVP (2000, 2001, 2002), the 5th leading scorer in NBA history, with a massive 28,255 points, and is also 14th in NBA history in total rebounds at 12,921 rebounds!

Shaq says "I am honored to be joining the Celtics. I have played against Paul [Pierce], Ray [Allen], Kevin [Garnett], Rajon [Rondo], and Jermaine [O'Neal] for many years and it will be great to be able to call them my teammates. I cannot wait to get to Boston to get started in the pursuit of another championship." Shaq will be wearing number 36.

As long as Shaq isn't the Celtics primary free throw shooter, I think Celtics will be on the right path towards the championship.

By: @JohnnyMagma

Seems like some MLB teams are still desperate for Fans in this recession, even after Clinching a Playoff Berth in the 2010 Season. The Tropicana Field was roaring loud when fans watched them win the game against the Orioles to clench their 2nd Playoff berth in 3 years. The only downside to that win in front of 17,000 of their Loyal fans… was the 26,000 empty seats. Dang Tampa Fans what’s really going on? Well on a first come first serve basis, the Tampa Bay Franchise has decided to donate 20,000 free tickets to the Public for tonight’s final Home game of the regular Season against the Baltimore Orioles. Get in line now as people have already started waiting for the Box Office to start giving the free tickets at 4:45pm. If you wish to Purchase the tickets you can do so now starting at just $8. Its actually quite hard to understand why people aren’t attending these games, but i guess they will find out if its because of a recession or they just aren’t liked. I wouldn't be surprised if they looked into moving the franchise elsewhere pretty soon.

Lebrons Father Wants New DNA Test and 4 Million

2010-09-23T21:33:00.000-04:00

By: Alise (@Dreamaboutalise)

Lelcester Bryce Stovell, 55, has filed new papers in his paternity case against Lebron and his mother. He claims the basketball star's recent motion to dismiss the case is based on a "fraudulent" DNA test from 2007 and should be ignored.

Stovell is seeking $4 million from Lebron, claiming fraud, defamation, and misrepresentation.

It's funny how a father suddenly wants to claim his son after he's a multi-millionaire, isn't it?

By: Alise (@Dreamaboutalise)

Within the past hour (September 21, 2010 6:00 PM ET) we have found out that Mike Vick is the new starting quarterback in Philly.

League source tells us that Vick found out about the decision sometime within the past hour.

It has been said that he will be the full-time starter. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Vick is "the permanent starter, until further notice."

He will debut in Week Three against the Jaguars and the following week he will welcome Donovan Mcnabb back to philly.

Reggie Bush Injures Right Leg

2010-09-21T21:29:00.000-04:00

By: @sucmyknowledge

New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush had to leave Monday night's 25-22 victory over San Francisco in the fourth quarter with an injured right leg.

The Saints did not know the severity of the injury immediately following the game. Bush had an ice bag wrapped around his right leg in the locker room and was using crutches to get around. "I'm just trying not to think the worst and just try to stay as positive as I can in this situation," Bush said. "That's all you can do, hope for the best." Bush said he would likely get X-rays after the team returned to New Orleans.

Bush hurt himself after recovering his muffed punt with 6:58 remaining. He had trouble catching the ball at windy Candlestick Park and was hurt diving to cover up the loose ball."Last second it kind of shifted a little bit, just enough for me to drop it," he said. "I tried to recover it and somebody took my leg out. I don't know who it was, what happened or how it happened. I just know my leg got taken out. That's it." He was tended to by trainers and then tried to walk off the field favoring his right leg. He fell back to the turf and was worked on again before being helped off the field. "It hurt like hell," he said. "When I got back up and tried to walk on it, it felt terrible. That's all I can say." Bush was taken on a cart to the locker room shortly after the injury, getting hugs from his teammates. Owner Tom Benson came up to Bush in the locker room to offer words of encouragement as well.

The injury capped a difficult past few days for Bush, who gave back his Heisman Trophy last Tuesday. The NCAA punished USC after concluding that Bush and his family took money and gifts from sports agents while Bush played for the Trojans. Bush said he returned the award to end the controversy. "It's been a pretty tough week," he said. "It's just the way life goes." There were some highlights for Bush in his first game since giving back the trophy. He caught a 6-yard touchdown pass on New Orleans' opening drive and set up a field goal with a 43-yard punt return on the final play of the third quarter.

Bush finished with 4 yards on five carries. He also had 30 yards on four receptions, including the touchdown
