New House Inspiration

With the new house build underway, I wanted to share with you some of my inspiration for a few of the rooms in my own home. You might just see some pictures in the new future that look very similar to these. I can't wait!

At the Salt Lake City Parade of Homes I got inspiration for my new office from this beautiful front room. I love the contrast of the dark wood trim and the white walls.

I can't claim this room! My husband was all about having a bar in the basement and this was his favorite. I just went with it.

Can you go wrong with a brick wall? I don't think so. I'm also putting mine leading to the basement with a big fancy chandelier in front. I think this is what I'm most excited for!

Designing for clients, working our regular 8-5 jobs, Ashlie selling her home and expecting a new baby in June have made for a few busy months. But we’re back and super excited about a new venture! Ashlie is currently building a new home and we are so looking forward to documenting the process with you! We have lots of fun pictures to share, but we’ll start with the very beginning…..the foundation! It will take until about May for the entire process to be complete, so we’ll share pictures along the way of the house building process. We’ll also be sharing some fun projects we’ve been working on for other clients.

We can't thank the wonderful home owners enough for allowing us to make their beautiful new home feel warm and inviting. It's pretty easy to do our job with an amazing home like this....and amazing clients and friends like them!

Another favorite is the centerpiece for the formal living room coffee table...maybe it's just that beautiful baby face that I'm really swooning over!

Birthday Garden Party

Shellie and I recently threw a Birthday Garden party in her backyard for her mom-in-law and my grandma. Other than it being a little toasty outside, it turned out perfectly!

Master Bedroom Redo

Just finished a master bedroom redo for a wonderful client of ours! We had so much fun making their bedroom their own private oasis. It was super easy because we have such similar styles.

This headboard was a monster! We found it at a local shop here in SLC. Our amazing installer actually lifted it off the ground and installed it to the wall to add a bit more drama to the already dramatic headboard. How fun would it be to add a wreath to the middle of it???

Of course the room wouldn't be complete without a bench and beautiful rug!

We still have a few finishing touches for the master bedroom, but couldn't wait to show you what we have done so far. Thanks Karly and Pat for being such amazing clients!

Basement Bar & TV Room

We have wanted to share this room with you forever, but because of the dark space it was so hard for us amateur photographers to get a good shot. So we hired a professional! Thank you Angie Seare Photography for taking such wonderful shots of Shellie's basement!

So, this space is all guy! Her husband said this is his space and anything we purchase has to go through him first! I think we made it a perfect guy space but also incorporated a few gal items as well.

Love the baskets on the wall! He wanted to incorporate some of his model motorcycles into the design, so we placed them in fun baskets hung on the wall to soften them a little and to give them a fun place to hang out.

Wine corks in some fun glass vases add a little softness to the masculine bar area.

Shellie added the photo wall to display some of the fun motorcycle trips they've had with friends. Photo walls don't seem all that masculine, but when you incorporate Nascar and motorcycles you can't ask for more!!

New paint can do wonders

Isn't it amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do! Shellie just finished painting her living and dining area. Below is a before pic of the paint color. Don't blame her for the pumpkin walls. They were that color before she moved in. We would always comment on how the room looked like it was on fire.

Our Tea Party!

The 3 year old tea party is in the history books! We had such an amazing time! Thanks to Thru My Lenz Photography for not only taking the pictures, doing all the decorations but also being one of my very best friends!

Imagine our excitement when we received an email from the one and only Layla Palmer from The Lettered Cottage!! Yes, The Lettered Cottage! What did she want, you ask? Oh, just wondering if she can use one of our pictures from this post to use in her upcoming fall article for HGTV!!

Woohoo! We are so thrilled! We will for sure be doing a big post so everyone can go and check it out!

3rd Birthday and what we've been up to....

There have been a full range of activities that have kept us away lately from our fun little blog. One of them being my daughter's 3rd Birthday party!

A much generous and talented friend offered to help me out by planning her very sweet garden tea party.

Here are a few of the things she has shared with me so far....

The invitations are to die for and handmade by her!!

The party is in Shellie's beautiful backyard garden, so we wanted to incorporate natural elements with others that are a little more sophisticated

A few Goodwill items can turn into beautiful pieces with a can of spray paint!

This fun garland was made with inexpensive fabric cut into 2" strips and tied to some string.

Can't wait to have everything set up and ready for her party!

Also, we are in the process of two major redesigns and can't wait to share the pictures. This has occupied about 105% of our time but will have so many fun pictures to show you once they are all done.

Spens' bedroom

We have a fantastic client in Las Vegas that was looking for some help with her little boy's room. They are currently renting their house but couldn't look at his blank beige walls for one more minute.

We gave her some fun ideas and man did she run with them! We technically can't call this "our" design because she came up with so many wonderful items all on her own. I guess you can say we provided the "inspiration" and she gave it wings.

Here is our original mood board. The client wanted to incorporate the vintage "S" in his room.

Oh and just as a side note....all of the pillows and bedding were made by her! Great style and super talented!

Quick fix to a messy problem....the client hated how her son's closet is missing doors, so we suggested some fun curtains and tie backs.

Oh and she is also an amazing photographer! She tooks this pic of her little one near their home in Las Vegas. If you live in Nevada or Utah and need a photographer she is amazing!

A Gal Can Dream

With the upcoming sale of our home (hopefully), I can't help but dream about what my perfect home will be this time around. The hubs and I built our home about 6 years ago when we had noooooo idea what we were doing. This time I have a little experience under my belt and my expectations are much higher. Although these beautiful pictures aren't much more than a dream, I can definitely take a little inspiration from each and every one of them!

Starting with a beautiful canvas

So we've been working EXTRA hard on an amazing design project for a new client.

The house is already amazing, so it isn't hard to find a few items to add to an already beautiful space.

Sorry for the horrible picture. It was night time and didn't have my tripod.

Here is a start of what we are going to bring to this room. They already have the couches, so we are adding accessories and some lighting.

The house is already very dark, so we brought in some items to lighten it up.

Can't wait to share with you the finished product.

We are designing about 80% of the rooms in this house, so you will see much more to come.

Not only is the house amazing and the design process so much fun, but the clients are the best part. It makes it so rewarding when you get to work with such amazing people every day!

I'm thinking about extending our brown paint into the entry way. What do you think?

Do you like the one accent wall, or do you think it would be fun to include it into the entryway?

Sorry, I don't have a great picture of the entryway, but it does inlcude this space.

I just feel like it needs an extra POP and extending the brown would be just the thing.

What's your opinion?

I've asked two people so far and I got a different response from each person so now I'm lost.
