PURSUIT of MEMORIES and PASSION

Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire

2013-11-24T07:37:00.000+08:00

Plot:

After winning the 74th Hunger Games in the previous novel, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark return home to District 12, the poorest sector in the country of Panem. On the day that Katniss and Peeta are to start a "Victory Tour" of the country, she is visited by President Snow, who explains that he is angry with her for breaking the rules at the end of the last Hunger Games, which permitted both Peeta and Katniss to win. Snow tells Katniss that when she defied the Capitol, she inspired rebellion in the districts.

The first stop on the Victory Tour is District 11, the home of Katniss's deceased friend and ally in the Hunger Games, Rue. During the ceremony, Katniss delivers a brief speech to the people of District 11, thanking them for their participants in the Games. When she is done, an old man whistles the tune that Katniss used in the arena to tell Rue that she was safe. The song acts as a signal and everyone salutes Katniss, using the same gesture that she used to say farewell to Rue. The old man and two other people are then shot, to Katniss' horror. Leaving District 11, Katniss and Peeta proceed to travel to all of the twelve districts and the Capitol. During an interview, Peeta proposes to Katniss publicly, hoping to settle the dispute between Katniss and President Snow and placate the growing rebellion. Despite this, Katniss learns that their attempts of subduing revolt in the districts have failed.

Shortly after returning to District 12, Katniss encounters two runaways from District 8. They explain their theory that District 13 was not wiped out by the Capitol, contrary to what the other districts have been led to believe, and that many of its residents survive in underground shelters. Later, it is announced that, for the 75th Hunger Games, 24 victors from previous years will be forced to compete once again. This is the third occurrence of the "Quarter Quell": an event that occurs every 25th year of the Games and allows the Capitol to introduce a twist. Knowing that she and Peeta will both be competing in the Games a second time, Katniss decides that she will devote herself to ensuring that Peeta becomes the Quarter Quell's victor. However, Peeta is devoted to protecting her.

During the Games, set in a jungle with a saltwater lake, Katniss and Peeta join up with two other previous victors: Finnick Odair, a 24-year-old man who survived the Games at the age of 14, and Mags, Finnick's 80-year-old mentor, both from District 4. After Mags's death, Katniss, Peeta and Finnick join forces with Johanna Mason, a sarcastic and often cruel victor from District 7, and Beetee and Wiress, an older couple from District 3 who are said to be "exceptionally smart". Wiress soon proves her genius by revealing to Katniss that the arena is arranged like a clock, with all of the arena's disasters occurring on a timed chart. After Wiress is killed, Katniss learns of Beetee's plan to harness lightning in order to electrocute Brutus and Enobaria, the two remaining Careers Tributes from District 2. In the final chapters, Katniss instead directs the lightning at the force field that contains the arena, thereby destroying the arena and resulting in her temporary paralysis.

When Katniss wakes up, she is being transported to District 13, joined by Finnick, Beetee, and her mentor, Haymitch Abernathy. She learns that Peeta, Enobaria, a District 2 tribute, and Johanna have been captured by the Capitol, and is informed that there had been a plan among half of the contestants to break out of the arena— Beetee had been attempting to destroy the force field in the same way that she did. The book ends when Katniss's best friend, Gale, comes to visit her and informs her that, though he got her family out in time, District 12 has been bombed and destroyed.

This song is awesome! We are just asking for equality and acceptance! Let us all be fair.

"Same Love"

Macklemore

(with Ryan Lewis)

(feat. Mary Lambert)

When I was in the third grade I thought that I was gay,

'Cause I could draw, my uncle was, and I kept my room straight.

I told my mom, tears rushing down my face

She's like "Ben you've loved girls since before pre-k, trippin' "

Yeah, I guess she had a point, didn't she?

Bunch of stereotypes all in my head.

I remember doing the math like, "Yeah, I'm good at little league"

A preconceived idea of what it all meant

For those that liked the same sex

Had the characteristics

The right wing conservatives think it's a decision

And you can be cured with some treatment and religion

Man-made rewiring of a predisposition

Playing God, aw nah here we go

America the brave still fears what we don't know

And God loves all his children, is somehow forgotten

But we paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago

I don't know

And I can't change

Even if I tried

Even if I wanted to

And I can't change

Even if I tried

Even if I wanted to

My love

She keeps me warm

If I was gay, I would think hip-hop hates me

Have you read the YouTube comments lately?

"Man, that's gay" gets dropped on the daily

We become so numb to what we're saying

A culture founded from oppression

Yet we don't have acceptance for 'em

Call each other faggots behind the keys of a message board

A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it

Gay is synonymous with the lesser

It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion

Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment

The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins

It's human rights for everybody, there is no difference!

Live on and be yourself

When I was at church they taught me something else

If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed

That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned

When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless

Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen

I might not be the same, but that's not important

No freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it

(I don't know)

And I can't change

Even if I tried

Even if I wanted to

My love

She keeps me warm

We press play, don't press pause

Progress, march on

With the veil over our eyes

We turn our back on the cause

Till the day that my uncles can be united by law

When kids are walking 'round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart

A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are

And a certificate on paper isn't gonna solve it all

But it's a damn good place to start

No law is gonna change us

We have to change us

Whatever God you believe in

We come from the same one

Strip away the fear

Underneath it's all the same love

About time that we raised up

And I can't change

Even if I tried

Even if I wanted to

And I can't change

Even if I try

Even if I wanted to

My love

She keeps me warm

Love is patient

Love is kind

Love is patient

Love is kind

(not crying on Sundays)

Love is patient

(not crying on Sundays)

Love is kind

(I'm not crying on Sundays)

Love is patient

Despicable Me 2

2013-07-05T21:41:00.000+08:00

If you like cute animated movies, well this movie is best for you! With Agnes and all these super adorable Minions, what can you say more. I so love this movie. You will never stop laughing all throughout the movie like I did. I really recommend this movie.

Plot:

A secret laboratory, somewhere near the Arctic Circle, has just been stolen by a mysterious vehicle using a giant magnet. The Anti-Villain League (AVL) become suspicious about this case as the lab contains a mutating chemical compound, PX-41, which could transform living things into indestructible killing machines. The organization must find someone to stop the mutating chemical from getting into the wrong hands.

To end that, Lucy Wilde, an AVL agent forcibly abducts Gru after stunning him unconscious with her lipstick taser. Two of Gru's minions who try to thwart her plans are captured also. They travel to AVL's underwater headquarters where Gru meets the league's Director, Silas Ramsbottom. He asks Gru to assist them in their efforts to track down the perpetrator and the missing mutagen. Gru refuses, preferring to concentrate on his new venture of producing bottled jellies and the responsibilities of being a father to his three adopted girls, Margo, Agnes and Edith. Before he leaves, Lucy admits she was impressed by his work as a villain and gives her namecard to Gru, urging him to contact her if he changes his mind. Upon return to his lab, Gru realises that his minion-run production line had churned out bottles of awful-tasting jellies. Also, his research scientist, Dr. Nefario confesses to Gru that he misses being "evil" and has been offered employment elsewhere. After giving Dr. Nefario a 21 fart-gun send-off with the minions, Gru contacts Lucy and takes on the task of recovering the stolen mutagen.

Traces of chemical scent given off by the mutagen narrow the search to the confines of The Paradise Shopping Mall. Gru works undercover as the owner of a cupcake shop in that mall with Lucy being assigned as his partner. He suspects one of the owners of a restaurant, named Eduardo, in the mall is an old super-villain called El Macho, who supposedly died after body-strapping TNT and riding a shark into an active volcano that resulted in his fiery demise. Lucy and Gru then decide to break into his restaurant but are spotted by Eduardo's pet chicken and narrowly escape from being caught by Eduardo when he returns back to his shop late in the night. However, they find only a jar of secret-recipe salsa in his safe and nothing relevant to link Eduardo to the crime. While the team investigates wig merchant Floyd Eagle-san, Margo begins to develop a crush on Eduardo's son, Antonio, to Gru's frustration. The whole family is invited to Eduardo's Cinco de Mayo party at his mansion where Gru's protectiveness of his daughter leads him to make baseless wild accusations to the AVL's Silas about Eduardo as El Macho and his son, which are scoffed at.

Later that day, a determined matchmaking neighbour, Jillian, sets a reluctant Gru up on a date with her rude and superficial friend Shannon. During the date, Shannon discovers Gru's wig and threatens to humiliate him, but Lucy saves him from embarrassment by shooting her with a tranquilizing dart. They take Shannon home, and Gru tells Agnes that he thinks he is in love with Lucy. When he arrives at the mall the next day, the Anti-Villain League arrest Floyd Eagle-san, who protests vehemently that he was framed, after the AVL team uncovers the empty mutagen jar in his shop. Silas tells Gru that the case is now closed and that Lucy will be getting posted to Australia for work. Gru, unable to muster the courage to ask Lucy out despite deliberating for a long time, incinerates his telephone out of frustration.

The family then goes to Eduardo's party. Gru follows Eduardo and discovers that he was correct about Eduardo being the presumed-dead super-villain El Macho. Gru also discovers that Dr. Nefario has been working for Eduardo and that the duo has been capturing and mutating some of Gru's minions into the purple-furred monsters using the stolen mutagen serum. Eduardo offers Gru a chance to conquer the world, but Gru makes unconvincing excuses and hastily leaves with the girls. Margo has also broken up with Antonio as he became interested in another girl. For breaking her heart, Gru encases Antonio in a block of ice with his freeze-ray.

Lucy, while in the plane bound for Australia, realizes that she wants to be with Gru, and jumps out to hang-glide to the party. Eduardo discovers her true identity and captures her after his chicken retrieves her AVL ID badge from her purse. Dr. Nefario calls Gru to tell him that Lucy has been captured. Gru disguises two of his minions in purple paint to escorts his "captured" self into the Eduardo's compound in a rescue attempt. Gru manages to restore the minions who were under El Macho's control using the awful-tasting jam infused with the antidote which Dr. Nefario made and defeats El Macho. After El Macho collapses to the ground, Gru tries to untie Lucy who is strapped onto a TNT-loaded shark rocket. While attempting to do so, Eduardo's pet chicken triggers the launch remote, sending the pair flying towards the lava-spewing volcano where El Macho faked his death. While on the rocket, Lucy accepts Gru's date invitation before the pair dives into the safety of the ocean, just seconds before the rocket explodes. One hundred and forty-seven dates later, the two are married and the girls finally have a mother. The minions close with a rendition of "Y.M.C.A" and "I Swear" (mistakenly sung as "Underwear") while the family dances. However, soon after the final picture is taken, a mutated purple furry minion appears, surprising the family.

During the credits, 3 Minions are seen "auditioning" for the upcoming Minions movie. However, a black wall showing the credits keeps falling and blocking their way.

World War Z

2013-06-29T04:03:00.001+08:00

I seldom watch movies lately because of schedule and also financial issues.haha, but last Wednesday I was able to bond with my very good friends Ryan and Frinch. Originally I would like to watch Man of Steel but Ryan recommends World War Z because of its good reviews online so we decided to go with World War Z. Luckily we favored World War Z because this movie was AWESOME. Personally the suspense was all throughout the movie and no boring scenes. So I highly recommend WORLD WAR Z.

PLOT:

Former United Nations employee Gerry Lane and his family sit in heavy traffic in Philadelphia while the radio reports on a mysterious rabies outbreak that has spread internationally. They are attacked by masses of zombies, and those bitten become zombies as well. As the east coast falls prey to the attacks, the Lanes narrowly escape and flee to an apartment complex to be extracted by a helicopter sent by Gerry's former UN colleague, Thierry Umutoni, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.

They reach the helicopter and are taken to a U.S. Navy vessel off the coast of New York City, where a team of analysts and military personnel is analyzing the scope of the worldwide outbreak. A virologist, Dr. Andrew Fassbach, argues that the plague is a virus, whose origin must be found in order for a vaccine to be developed. The naval commander tells Gerry that, because of his expertise as a former UN investigator, he is to investigate the virus and help Fassbach find the outbreak's source. After the Navy threatens to kick Gerry and his family off the ship if he doesn't help, Gerry reluctantly agrees to fly to Camp Humphreys, a military base in South Korea where the word "zombie" was supposedly first used in reference to the outbreak.

Arriving at the base, they are attacked and Fassbach accidentally discharges his weapon, killing himself. At the base, Gerry learns from the survivors that the zombies are attracted to noise. The commander also informs Gerry of a local who was found foaming at the mouth and bit a doctor, and shows him to a room of incinerated bodies, where the soldiers on duty first saw the outbreak. Gunter Haffner, a former CIA operative imprisoned for treason, tells Gerry to go to Jerusalem, where the Israeli Mossad has established a safe zone just before the outbreak was officially acknowledged, implying Israel might have had prior knowledge.

In Jerusalem, Gerry meets Mossad leader Jurgen Warmbrunn, who explained that the agency had months earlier intercepted communications from an army general in India, which stated that Indian troops were fighting the "Rakshasa," or undead. With this knowledge and using a program implemented to prevent Israel being caught off guard, as in past conflicts, the city quarantined itself, though it still allows uninfected civilians, regardless of nationality, to enter. Due to loud noises coming from within the zone, however, thousands of infected and rabid zombies on the other side of the perimeter walls begin piling onto each other and climb over. Chaos erupts, and one of Gerry's escort soldiers, Segen, is bitten. Gerry immediately amputates her hand to prevent her from turning into a zombie, and they escape from Jerusalem on a commercial airliner.

Contacting Thierry, they are diverted to a W.H.O. research facility in Cardiff, Wales to assist in finding a cure. With the plane closing in on the W.H.O. facility, a stowaway zombie emerges from the bathroom and begins attacking passengers. As other passengers begin to turn and converge on Gerry and Segen, Gerry detonates a grenade that sucks the zombies out of the plane, destroying the plane's turbine in the process. The plane crashes, with Segen and an injured Gerry as the only apparent survivors. They arrive at the facility, where Gerry deduces that the infected do not bite people who are already ill or injured, since they would be unsuitable as hosts for viral reproduction. He volunteers to test a terminal but curable pathogen on himself to see if his idea works. However, the wing in which the pathogens are stored is now overrun with over 80 zombies, due to a doctor accidentally infecting himself and his colleagues. Gerry fights his way through the zombies into the pathogen storage vault, injects himself with a sample, and successfully returns to the main lab without being attacked. Seeing that his "camouflage" theory works, the doctors rejoice and immediately treat him.

Gerry returns to his family, now relocated to a safe zone at Freeport, Nova Scotia. A "vaccine" derived from deadly pathogens is developed that can act as camouflage for the troops battling the infected, and for fleeing civilians. As human offensives begin against the zombies, humanity now has hope, but Gerry notes that, "This isn't the end, not even close."

Pending Coffee

2013-06-24T22:09:00.000+08:00

In this rainy season coffee would be one of the best company to warm ourselves. I would like to partake one of the heartwarming story I read online.

"We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re approaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter -

‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’

They pay for their order, take the two and leave. I ask my friend:

‘What are those ‘suspended’ coffees ?’

‘Wait for it and you will see’

Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers – three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square in front of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in through the door and kindly asks

‘Do you have a suspended coffee ?’

It’s simple – people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm beverage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwich or a whole meal."

After Earth

2013-06-16T02:48:00.000+08:00

Watched "after earth" last week with Ryan. What can I say about this movie? Well I liked the movie but never that much! I'm expecting a lot of Will Smith in action but the movie focused more on Jaden Smith his son. The effects was awesome. I love seeing Kitai's (Jaden Smith) suit transformed on the movie. this movie would also be perfect movie in this coming fathers day! I would recommend the movie.

Plot :

In the near future, an environmental cataclysm forces the human race to abandon Earth and settle on a new world, Nova Prime.

One thousand years later, The Ranger Corps, a peacekeeping organization commanded by General Cypher Raige (Will Smith), comes into conflict with the S'krell, alien creatures who intended to conquer Nova Prime. Their secret weapons are the Ursas, large predatory creatures that hunt by "sensing" fear. The Rangers struggle against the Ursas until Cypher learns how to completely suppress his fear, a technique called "ghosting". After teaching this technique to the other Rangers, he leads the Ranger Corps to victory. Meanwhile, Cypher's son Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) blames himself for the death of his sister Senshi (Zoë Kravitz) at the hands of an Ursa. Kitai trains to become a Ranger like Cypher, but his application is rejected due to his recklessness, and Cypher views him as a disappointment. Kitai's mother Faia (Sophie Okonedo) convinces Cypher to take Kitai on his last voyage before retirement.

During flight, however, their spaceship is caught by an asteroid shower forcing them to crash-land on the now-quarantined Earth. Both of Cypher's legs are broken, and the main emergency rescue beacon damaged. Cypher instructs Kitai to locate the tail section of the ship, which broke off on entry to the atmosphere. Inside is the backup beacon which they can use to signal Nova Prime. Cypher gives Kitai his weapon, a wrist communicator and six capsules of a fluid that enhances the oxygen intake so he can breathe in Earth's low-oxygen atmosphere. Cypher warns him to avoid the highly evolved fauna and flora, and be careful of violent thermal shifts. Kitai leaves to find the tail section, with Cypher guiding him through the communicator.

Kitai is attacked by giant baboons and, during his escape, is bitten by a poisonous leech. Kitai administers the antidote, but two of his capsules are damaged and his nervous system shuts down. When Kitai awakens, he narrowly escapes a thermal shift. Kitai lies to Cypher, not informing him of the damaged capsules. That night, Kitai listens to Cypher tell him a story of when he was attacked by an Ursa, how he realized that fear is merely an illusion created by the mind's thoughts of the future, and thus he first began to "ghost" himself from the Ursas, choosing to live rather than to let his enemies, both fear and the Ursas, decide his fate.

The following day, Kitai reaches a mountaintop, and Cypher learns about the broken capsules. Knowing that the only way to make it with 2 capsules would be to skydive, Cypher orders Kitai to abort the mission. Believing his father still sees him as a disappointment, Kitai blames Senshi's death on Cypher's absence on the day of the attack. He skydives from the mountaintop, but is captured by a large condor and his communicator is damaged. Kitai wakes in a nest of the condor, where he is surrounded by tigers. The condor attacks the tigers, and Kitai escapes. He reaches a river, and builds a raft to continue along the river. Tired, Kitai falls asleep on the raft. He dreams of his sister, Senshi, who reassures him that Cypher's bitterness is just his own anger for not saving her. Senshi urges Kitai to wake up and when he does, he is surprised by another thermal shift and nearly freezes to death. Kitai is rescued by the condor, who sacrifices itself for him.

Kitai reaches the tail section and retrieves the emergency beacon along with another communicator, weapon, and more oxygen capsules. The communicator only allows Cypher to see and hear Kitai, but not for Kitai to hear him. Kitai learns the ship's Ursa escaped and killed the remnants of the crew. The emergency beacon does not activate and Cypher realizes that the atmosphere is blocking the signal. Kitai heads to a nearby volcano from which he can launch the beacon, and is injured when the Ursa attacks him. Kitai is able to control his fear and "ghost" himself from the Ursa enough to kill it. He then launches the beacon. A rescue team arrives, and the two travel back to Nova Prime.

We all love dessert am I right? Ryan treated me with this yummy Frozen Yogurt "Froyo" from Tutti Frutti at Glorietta near the foodcourt area. The place is limited but its very comfy and appealing to the eyes. They have a lot of flavors to choose from and toppings that you can mix and match!

I ordered Grape flavored Froyo and topped it with Gummy Bears!

Ryan preferred Almond! wonder why he did not add some toppings.. he wants his froyo naked I guess.,

Eating Froyo can put smile to your face.

Happy with my Froyo!

Ryan's so pleased ingesting his Almond Froyo.

You can visit their website TUTTI FRUTTI

eating yogurt have a lot of benefits instead of eating ice cream!

They have varieties of flavors you could crave from.

Warning! after you consume all of your yogurt you'll go crazy! look at us! haha.

Look at how happy Ryan. HAHA!

You can always visit any Tutti Frutti store near you! Two thumbs up for the place and the food. Follow them on their TWITTER and like them on their FACEBOOK

"Live It Up"

(feat. Pitbull)

From the streets of miami, to presenting at the Grammys

Con el muslito de jennifer, maybe now you understand me

Mr Worldwide, RedOne, and the beautiful Jennifer Lopez, dale

We don't believe in defeat, that's why we're back for a three-peat

Hi Jenny, mira que esta loco, yo me lo como como pastelito coco

I get on stupid on a beach, she wowo

I got mami, mamis by the boatload

Yo tengo la carne, y ella el mojo

I'm saying dale, she's screaming YOLO

She's little red riding hood, and guess who's the lobo, me la como

Who's name is globally known,

Who's name's on a check, and they adding an O

Who's name is on the Blimp with the world is yours

Who's name is on schools, huh

Slam for sure, I know it's hard to understand how a boy grew to a man

Man turned to a brand but guess what here I am

Jenny from the block, let's rock

You push me harder, I do the same

Boy wanna feel ya, in every way

Don't even wonder, it's just a game

We rocking body to body, let's go insane

I hit the spotlight, all night, ready to go

Give you a hard night, so tight, ready to blow

I'm in the spotlight, all night, ready to go

Give you a hard night, so tight, ready to blow

Ohhh, we can do anything we want

Live it up, so live it up, live it up, go, ohh

And we ain't stopping till we done, live it up

So live it up, live it up, go go go go go go

(make love, don't fight, let's hook tonight)

[beat break]

(let's hook tonight)

Turn up this mutha and let it play

I know you like my bumper

Don't be ashamed

Don't even wonder, it's just a game

We rocking body to body, let's go insane

I hit the spotlight, all night, ready to go

Give you a hard night, so tight, ready to blow

I'm in the spotlight, all night, ready to go

Give you a hard night, so tight, ready to blow

Ohhh, we can do anything we want

Live it up, so live it up, live it up, go, ohhh

And we ain't stopping till we done, live it up

So live it up, live it up, go go go go go go

(make love, don't fight, let's hook tonight)

[beat break]

(let's hook tonight)

You name it she's done it

She's the reason that women run it

Bet this on a grammy

Maybe now you understand me

(clap your hands, go clap your hands, go clap your hands, to the beat)

Ohhh, we can do anything we want

Live it up, so live it up, live it up, go, ohhh

And we ain't stopping till we done, live it up

So live it up, live it up, go go go go go go

(let's hook tonight)

[beat break]

(let's hook tonight)

Fast and Furious 6

2013-06-01T00:44:00.000+08:00

Finally they're back in the big screen. The sixth installment of Fast and Furious. I was not able to watch the movie on its first showing date because of busy schedule. I just watched it last Tuesday with Ryan.

My view: Since the last installment was released almost 2 years ago the feeling of excitement for the sequel of this movie was intensed. Maybe because lots of questions running on our minds, what happened to the characters, Why Letty's back. What will happened next. But after watching the movie all questions were answered, Overall the movie was Awesome, Humor was still there and most of all Action packed. I felt sad that Gal Gadot or Gisele Yashar character died. I find her sexy in the movie. *too sad.
It has a little twist in the end and they also show a lil' bit of what will going to happen in the Part 7 of the film and i know, everybody will get excited for the next installment.

I recommend the movie to all the movie goers and you should not miss this movie if you love cars and action packed film.!
