Baby Shower E-Printable Bunting Set - .PDF Format

Supplies Needed:

Heavier Cardstock Paper
Color or Laser Printer
One-Hole Punch
3/8” or 1/2" Ribbon - 9 feet long

Instructions:

1) Print several copies of the hearts on heavier card stock using a color printer until you have enough hearts for the bunting length you need. Please note: prints best on a color laser printer.
2) Cut out the hearts and then punch a hole in the white circle on the left and right sides with the one-hole punch.
3) Cut approximately 9 feet of the 3/8" or 1/2" ribbon.
4) Tie a 4” loop on one end of the 1/4” ribbon.
5) Leave 4” showing and then tie a large double knot.
6) Insert the ribbon through the punched hole on the right hand side from front to back and
then tie a large double knot.
7) Bring across to the hole on the left hand side and Insert the ribbon thru the hole.
8) Tie a large double knot.
9) Insert the ribbon from front to back through the hole in the right hand side of the next
heart.
10) Tie a large double knot
11) Continue in this manner until you have a bunting the length you need.
12) Tie a large double knot at the end and then leave 4” of the ribbon showing and enough ribbon to create an additional 4" loop on the end.
13) Hang the bunting from the end loops.

Welcome Our New "It's Raining Baby Showers" Website

One of my all time favorite doll designs is my "Baby Nicky" doll. He's a baby shower centerpiece doll that I designed based upon my grandson "Nicky" who has the most wonderful, curly head of hair you could ever imagine. I just LOVE it and would love to swap hair with him.

If you've been following my Linda's Blog you know that "Baby Nicky" is involved in a lot of what goes on in "The Dollie Storage Room." He's a fun loving doll and is very popular amongst the other "dollies." When I was designing new patterns a couple of years ago I wanted to design some more baby shower centerpieces and favors or ornaments to compliment "Baby Nicky." So, I ended up designing 10 different favors and 2 new centerpieces.

I wanted something for the centerpieces that would capture the guests attention at a baby shower and decided that a baby boy and baby girl doll around 16" tall each would be perfect. Something that could stand alone on a center table or individual tables and be easy to make.

I also wanted the centerpiece to look soft, cuddly, warm and inviting so I decided to create my dolls out of some old flannel pillowcases that my sister had given me. You see, in our family we never throw anything away that could be used in sewing or crafts. So, as you might expect I get a LOT of stuff. In any event, the old flannel pillowcases were perfect for the two baby centerpiece dolls I had in mind.

After the centerpieces were designed I decided that I wanted to design some FUN baby shower favors. Again, the key was they would be easy to make and could end up being ornaments for the guests to bring home. Plus, I wanted a variety of different kinds of favors that could be made.

While thinking about what to make for favors I again thought about my grandson, Nicky, who was born 31 weeks premature. He had spent 9 weeks in a special care nursery and I remembered that the nurses would wrap him in a swaddling blanket which allowed them to easily carry him around. They always looked like they were carrying him around like a football.

The nurses taught all the family members how to bathe, feed, and dress Nicky so I learned how to wrap my grandson in a swaddling blanket. So, I thought maybe a baby shower favor with a primitive baby head sticking out of a swaddling blanket would be cute.

Then I decided I wanted to create baby head favors that could stand alone and decided to use wooden spools and terracotta pots as the base.

I have to admit that I just LOVED making the baby heads on pink and blue spools. I had wanted something that would make everyone smile and when you're looking down on them you can't help but laugh. I was laughing my head off while creating them and when my husband saw the finished heads lined up on the table he started laughing as well.

I thought they would definitely make for a very enjoyable baby shower and could picture a room filled with tables and a baby head favor holding the place setting for each guest. I figured the guests could take them home to function not only as a pincushion but as a nostalgic reminder of a wonderful baby shower.

I also enjoyed working with the terracotta pots and baby heads. I love crafting with terracotta and always try to think of different ways to combine flower pots with my doll creations. I had created various holiday ornaments using terracotta and thought the baby heads would be perfect. Again, they could stand alone or could be hung as ornaments by their ribbon hangers.

So, my baby shower line of patterns and e-patterns was born. Ever since then I have wanted to create a line of baby shower decoration products. Coordinated decorations that would fun and easy to make. Cozy and intimate - just like an old fashioned baby shower.

I can remember baby showers that I went to years ago that were held at a neighbors house or a girlfriends house. We would decorate the living room and invite between ten and 20 guests, We'd make all the decorations and all the finger food and would sit around while our "mother-to-be" opened the presents. We'd play a few games and some of the experienced mothers would tell stories of their various pregnancies. There was always a LOT of teasing going on and you could hear us laughing for hours on end. It was always a delightful time.

I wanted to re-create that atmosphere. To design baby shower decorations that would all compliment each other. That were fun and easy to make. I also wanted to combine my dolls with graphics of my dolls, as well as create baby shower graphics I could use for printables and fabric. And, for baby products.

So, I designed centerpiece doll patterns, easy to make e-printables using graphics of my baby shower dolls and favors, cut and sew doll and favor ornaments using the baby shower graphics, coordinating fabrics using the baby shower graphics for baby shower decorations as well as for making baby shower presents. Just about everything you could think of for a delightful baby shower except the food.

And, with all this my "It's Raining Baby Showers" website was born. I've been working on my new website since November and have added many, many items. We've got patterns and e-patterns, e-printables, cut and sew ornaments, baby shower decorating books, and lots of fabric. It's still a work in progress and I'll be adding to it over the next couple of months.

It's TWINS! How Delightful!

Grandparents just love to hear that they are going to be grandparents. That is if they can first get over the fact that they are old enough to be grandparents! Once they are over that - they're in for a delightful time.

We have six grandchildren and enjoyed being grandparents four times around. Now, I know you're going to say, "Linda, your math is a little off......." Well, it's not. You see for our first adventure we were blessed with twin granddaughters. Our second adventure we were blessed with a grandson and for our third adventure we were blessed with another grandson. For our fourth adventure we were once again blessed with twins - this time twin boys. How delightful!

To complete our mobile you will also need cardstock or heavier weight paper, color laser printer, pink and blue 1/4" ribbons, pink and blue 1/8" ribbon, regular or double sided tape, scissors, stapler and staple, and a one-hole punch. Our completed mobile is approximately 30 inches long and 6 1/2" around.

Instructions for Creating Our "It's A Boy/Girl E-Printable Mobile"

1. Print the rings on heavy cardstock paper using a color printer.
2. Punch six holes in the white circles on the top and bottom of the rings using a one-hole punch.
2. Cut the rings out along the outside blue lines
3. Fold the tabs along the tab foldlines and then staple the tabs together creating a circle.
4. Cut six pink or blue 1/8” wide ribbons 14” long.
5. Using the six 14” ribbons tie each of the six ornaments to the circles on the bottom of the ring first in a knot and then in a bow. The bows should be aligned with the circles on the bottom of the ring.
6. Cut six pink or blue 1/4” wide ribbons 24” long.
7. Insert one end of the 14” long ribbon through the holes in the top of the ring and tie in a knot leaving a 1” tail. Tape the tail to the inside of the ring.
8. Bring the remaining ends of the six ribbons together and then tie the ends together in a large knot to secure.
9. Hang the mobile from the large knot.

IT'S A GIRL!

I just love baby showers and wedding showers. Don't you?

As mentioned in my previous post one of the most pleasurable times I had was hosting a wedding shower for my niece with my sister and sister-in-laws.

I had so much fun planning the shower, but most of all I had fun creating all the shower decorations and will be blogging about those wedding shower decorations in a post on my Linda's Blog in a little while.

So, when I was designing some of my new dolls and e-patterns I decided that I wanted to design some centerpieces and favors for wedding showers and baby showers. I thought that for this post you might enjoy hearing a little bit about what I had in mind when I designed each of them.

I started with the baby shower first and ended up having so much fun designing the favors that I ended up designing 10 different favors and 2 different centerpieces.

I tend to like variety - the more the better. Someone else might just want to create one kind of favor and make just that one for all the baby shower guests. Either works as they are all easy and fun to make.

I am a lover of primitive dolls and wanted to create some primitive baby favors that could also be used as primitive ornaments for the guests home decor.

I wanted something that would make everyone smile and when you're looking down on them you can't help but laugh. I would hope you would agree.

They would definitely make for a very enjoyable baby shower. Just picture a room filled with tables and a baby head favor holding the place setting for each guest. Plus, the guests can take them home to function as pincushions and a nostalgic reminder of a wonderful baby shower.

I also enjoyed working with the terracotta pots and baby heads. I love crafting with terracotta and try to think of different ways to combine the flower pots with my doll creations. I've created various holiday ornaments using terracotta and thought the baby heads would be perfect. Again, they could stand alone or could be hung as ornaments by their ribbon hangers.

"It's A Girl! and "It's A Boy!" Baby Shower Doll Centerpieces - Patterns and E-Patterns

I just love baby showers and wedding showers.

In fact, one of the most pleasurable times I had was hosting a wedding shower for my niece with my sister and sister-in-laws. I had so much fun planning the shower, but most of all I had fun creating all the shower decorations and will be blogging about those wedding shower decorations in a post on my Linda's Blog in a little while.

So, when I was designing some of my new dolls and patterns I decided that I wanted to design some centerpieces and favors for wedding showers and baby showers.

"It's A Girl!" and "It's A Boy!" doll centerpieces are two of those designs.

What could be cheerier on the table of a baby shower then two baby doll centerpieces surrounded by baby shower presents? Not much that I can think of.

"It's A Girl!" figures if she behaves herself and looks adorable then she will have done her part to make the baby shower a success.

"It's A Girl!" is a 16" self-standing baby shower doll centerpiece with a square bottom. Her body is made of flannel cloth and her arms are wired. Her head is of muslin and her face is outlined with a combination of black Micron Pigma Markers, watercolor pencils and colored pencils.

Her eyes are quizzical and outlined with black while the whites of her eyes are painted with a white watercolor pencil. Peach shading outlines the tops of her eyes. The sides of her nose are shaded light brown and her cheeks are blushed and shaded brown and pink. Brown freckles dot her nose and cheeks and white paint dots highlight her cheeks and forehead.

"It's A Girl's!" pink shirt is made of flannel, is gathered at the neck, and gathered at the sleeve hem.

She has thick curly hair that adorns the side seam of her head. A matching pink flannel cap with a cuff that is embroidered "It's A Girl! with black DMC Embroidery floss sits on the top of her head.
She is carrying a matching pink flannel blanket in her right hand and has the thumb of her left hand in her mouth.

"It's A Girl!" isn't quite such exactly what to expect, but is ready for anything. She is so excited about the baby shower she's attending and hopes she and "It's A Boy!" do their part to make the baby shower successful.

While I think, "What could be cheerier on the table of a baby shower then two baby doll centerpieces surrounded by baby shower presents?" Not much that I can think of.

Not much that "It's A Boy!" can think of either.

My reasons are to make the baby shower a success. "It's A Boy!" has reasons of his own which have more to do with how adorable he is.

You see, "It's A Boy!" just loves to be the center of attention and being the centerpiece on the table of a baby shower affords him all the attention he could ever want. Everyone always remarks at how adorable he is.

"It's A Boy!" isn't quite sure what kind of a reception he will get. Based on past baby showers he, once again, expects to be the center of attention therefore making the baby shower a success.

You can't help but think it will be a success. Just look at his cheery and inviting face.

"It's A Boy!" is a 5" baby shower favor made with a cloth head that sits serenely upon a terracotta pot.

"It's A Boy Terra Head!" has a cloth head with an embroidered and watercolor penciled face. His head sits on top of a terracotta pot and blue tulle collar.

The inside of his nose is painted with an orange watercolor pencil. His cheeks are blushed and shaded with a peach and orange colored pencil. Brown freckles adorn his cheeks.

He has straight raggedy red hair that is affixed in three sections to the sides of his head. His cap is made of blue flannel with a white pompom and frames his head.

"It's A Boy! is painted on the front of the terracotta pot. He can be hung as an ornament by his blue ribbon or left standing in his terracotta pot.

Both are extremely easy to make and are great favors or ornaments for any baby shower.
