The United States Constitution has a system of checks and balances, to that no one or no group of people can become too powerful. Because power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

In order for democracy to function the people need to be well informed. However The United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of big money, and not the people. click hear to see the full story.

This has been a major blow to democracy. America is supposed to be the land of the free, and yet wealthy people can just purchase candidates. This is not democracy! This is capitalist dictatorship!

If leaders are not elected by the people, but by wealthy lobbying firms, then it is the money that decides the outcome of elections. What ever happened to one prison, one vote. Now it has become one dollar, one vote. We the people have no say.

The big money advocates will tell you that this is to protect capitalism. As if capitalism and freedom are the same thing. They tell you that socialism is evil.

Now I know that the supreme court does not actually make the laws, but this does not mean we have to sit down and take it.

We need to be as loud as we can! We need to get our voices heard!

WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT BE SILENCED!!!!!!!

Get Your God Out of My Government

Many people believe that America was founded on Christian values. Some would even go as far as to say that "America is a Christian nation". America is not Christian nation, nor is America a "Christian nation". When America was first founded, Thomas Jefferson had an idea, separation of church and state. It meant that religion should be separate from government. This allows people of many different religious backgrounds,to live side by side peacefully. Including people who are Atheist, Agnostic, Wiccan, Satanic, and others.

I think that all people should be aloud to live in peace, whether you are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Mormon, Atheist, Agnostic, Wiccan, Satanic, or any other religion. America is a Secular Nation! So it bothers me to hear politicians, and political commentators, say that America is a "Christian nation".

What makes this so bad is that public policy is being made based on biblical scripture, rather then actual fact. Such as The faith-based initiatives. But that is not all. They want to teach creation in schools, ban abortion, stop same sex couples from getting married, and more. They put the phrase "in god we trust" on our money, and put the line "under god" in the pledge of allegiance. This has to be stopped.

Every time a non-believer asserts his or herself, The Christian Fundamentalists always snap back, by claiming that we a persecuting their belief. The problem is that we are allowing religious fundamentalists to run our government. you can have your religion, just keep it out of my government.

Healthcare for All, and How to Pay for It

In my opinion this shouldn't be an issue. With all the money we pay in taxes we can't afford decent healthcare! The United States is the only industrialized nation that doesn't
have universal healthcare. We are falling way behind hear. We are almost a third world country.

so how do we pay for it?

First of all we can cut back on military spending. The war that the previous president started should be over by now. Pull all troops back including those in Afghanistan, so that we don't have to keep spending money on a war this is not keeping us safe, and has nothing to do with 9/11.

Next we can put a tax on things that are unhealthy, like fast food, and soda. see The Resident

I also say legalizing marijuana and putting a tax on that may help as well.

The point is this...

We pay our taxes, and we should get something back. Private healthcare has failed, so we need public healthcare.

So let us all find a way to have healthcare for all.
