Dallas swept the season series 2-0. After a slow start to the season Miami went on a 22-2 streak — but both of those losses were to Dallas. That said, both games were before Christmas, so don’t read much into them.

KEY INJURIES
Mavericks: Caron Butler likely will not play this series, he has been out with knee surgery since the middle of the season. Rodrigue Beaubois is back from injury, but it hasn’t mattered he isn’t playing. The Mavs have made the finals in spite of all that.
Heat: Mike Miller has injured two thumbs you couldn’t play NBA 2K11 with, but he will be out on the court.

THREE KEY MAVERICKS:

Dirk Nowitzki. He has been a marvel, the single best player in the playoffs. He is averaging 28.4 points per game on 51.7 percent shooting grabbing 7.5 boards, and yet the numbers simply do not do his performance justice. He is efficient. His rainbow, one-legged, turnaround fadeaway is both the most devastating shot in the game today and completely ungaurdable. His passing has been phenomenal. In this series it will be interesting to see how the Mavericks use him on defense — hide him on Joel Anthony or let him cover Chris Bosh? Whatever he does, expect a monster series from him — like everyone else the Heat will have no good defensive answer for him.

The cut took six stitches to patch up but when he returned, his eye swollen shut, he put up two more three pointers and scored an assist to Amare Stoudemire to put away the Spurs.

The Los Angeles Lakers, 3rd in the Western Conference, will play a game in Indiana on Wednesday night as the Pacers play host. Indiana, who are 7th in the Eastern Conference, look as though they will be in tough as Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol come to town.

Los Angeles (18-7) have put together a couple wins since losing to Chicago earlier in this road trip and Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers in scoring in their game last night in Washington with 24 points. With him and the Lakers playing well Indiana (11-12), who enter tonight cold coming off of 2 straight losses, could be hard pressed to keep tonight's game within single digits.

The Pacers do have a winning record at home at 6-5 but LA's road record is a little better than that as they have a firm 8-5 record as visitors.

If the Pacers can pull off the win tonight then they will actually sweep the season series between the two teams as Indiana beat LA at the Staples Center earlier this season. Roy Hibbert was especially effective in that first game against LA in November as he put up a double-double with points (24) and rebounds (12).

Game time tonight from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis is 7pm ET as part of an 11 game schedule tonight.

While the Houston Rockets must wait for the return of Yao Ming, one of the team's former superstars will be back on the Toyota Center court Tuesday night.

Tracy McGrady, now serving a limited role for the Detroit Pistons, will play his first game in Houston since the Rockets traded him away last season following five-plus up-and-down years with the club.

McGrady averaged 23.1 points during his first five seasons with the Rockets, helping Houston to four 50-win campaigns.

The Rockets' only playoff series win in that stretch came with McGrady injured, though, and the banged-up swingman played in just six games last season before he was traded - at his request - to New York on Feb. 18.

"It has definitely been the most profound part of my career," McGrady said in a statement at the time. "I've learned a lot about myself from various situations, both good and bad that have occurred here. It was my hope when I came to Houston that I wouldn't leave, but I do understand this is the business side of basketball."

It's unclear how he will be received by Houston's fans.

"There will be some cheers," former teammate Chuck Hayes told the Rockets' official website. "He was the leader of this team. He did carry this team up until his last year and a half or so. It was unfortunate that his last (impression) here was a bad one, but when he first got here and was healthy, he was a bad boy."

McGrady, who signed with Detroit (7-14) over the summer, is averaging 16 minutes and 3.8 points off the bench for the rebuilding Pistons.

The Rockets (7-13) are also struggling. Although they had hoped to get Yao back Tuesday from a 13-game absence due to an ankle injury, the 7-foot-6 center is not ready to return.

Facing the Pistons should present a good opportunity for another victory. Detroit has dropped nine of its 11 road games, including the last five.

The Pistons snapped a four-game overall skid with a 102-92 win over Cleveland on Sunday, thanks in part to the second-half success of a three-guard lineup implemented by coach John Kuester.

With Ben Gordon playing alongside fellow guards Richard Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey, the Pistons scored 51 points - 16 from Hamilton - in the final 24 minutes after averaging 36.0 points in the second half during their losing streak.

"(The Cavaliers) had done some nice things against us in the first half, so I thought it was an adjustment we could make," Kuester said. "It worked very well."

The Pistons have averaged 89.8 points while losing their last four visits to Houston.
