Spring Fever

it seems like forever since I posted ~

from 4 - 24/7's away

at my Care Giving position to catching a spring time

bug with "Spring Fever" ~ I am lying low....

mostly under the covers for now,

I need to make up for the days of barely sleeping

when I am away working....

just don't forget about me

[I thought this old card was so cute & bright colored

to brighten my spirits]

How's your weather going?

I don't think our weather has helped,

we've had

89 degree days with 81 overnight temps

63 degrees with 40 overnight....

An overwhelming Tribute for

Michigan's Fallen Firefighter

Brian Woehlke
A Hero in My Heart....

That little guy above is my Grandson Miller with

my Daughter Mandy

We were honored to be able to pay our respects

Brian lost his life last week while fighting a building fire

He was only 29 years old & married with a 1 year old little girl

Brian went to school with my nieces & was the son of

family friends of my Sister & Brother in law...

While they attended this very sad Funeral,

Mandy, Miller & I were able to witness the mass

of Fire Trucks (over 200) Hundreds of Fire Fighters (over 1000)

many grateful citizens who came out to

pay their Respects for

Brian & His Family....

to Divine Child Catholic Church

to the sea of Fire men & women

standing at attention at St. Hedwig's Cemetery

Welcome spring, but does it have to

already be HOT...

for us, Spring is finally here

one thing I don't like is

when cold weather goes right from the 40's

to the 80's

I am a mild temp kind of gal....

I could live between 55-75 year round

Since we've had the weather this week of spring, fall & winter

I was thinking 3 years back to my Georgia trip to see family...

I had the great pleasure of meeting up with one of the

very first bloggers I had ever visited...

that sweet soul

Dawn ~ The Feathered Nest

we met up at the best place ever,

The Scott Antique Market

outside of Atlanta...

remembering back & seeing the photos,

it was a rainy day, but that didn't stop us.....

my niece Jenny came with us that day,

[she was driving]

Jen also shares our love of treasure hunting...

we all had a wonderful time

hunting, laughing & feeling like we had always

been friends...

we both hated having our picture taken,

but Jenny insisted,

glad we did...

meeting Dawn was certainly a highlight for me,

I will be back in Georgia this June

I am keeping my fingers crossed

we can meet up again....

a little town letting you know that

they have Antiques...

along one of the winding roads, we just had to

pull off to the side of the road...

I wish we could have gone in that old building,

can you see the furniture...

but,

I'm a rule follower, so this side of the fence is

where we stayed...

Well, Sorta....

Have you seen the little Fairy Gardens or the Moss Terrariums that

everyone seems to be creating?

I have & just love them,

I've always liked little things, so moss under glass fills the bill on that....

the other day while I was taking spring photos at Carmalot

[previous post]

I spotted some of the soft little green stuff growing between the bricks

on path that leads to the bridge over the pond.....

[that sounds like the words to a song]

Since it was a day full of sunshine,

I brought a few supplies over to Mandy's

to do a little Gardening project with my Grands...

When I arrived, the girls were cleaning up their bedroom,

so I had to wait awhile, even went in to help out a bit....

after that, this Bubbie took

Memphys, Emersyn & Miller

outside to look for Moss & do alittle planting

holding up the supplies

misting the peat moss they just put inside

was that a Bug?

Eme digging up some moss

above is the finished garden, after the photo

we put the lid on the end & took it inside to hopefully

continue to green & grow...

below are the little gardens I planted the other day,

they are greening up so nicely...

I think the kids had a fun time, Miller lost interest real

quick & went to driving his trucks over the lawn,

Memphys promised to water it every day, which

I promptly told her it won't need much water at all

Eme, was just Eme....

I didn't follow the special rules for growing moss that

I've recently read about, like specific soil & charcoal,

for now, I used just what I had...

if these continue to grow, I think I will read up on them

& also order some different kind

which I see are available on eBay

I just found a new {new to me}

Spring has finally sprung ~ Carmalot

I'm knocking on wood as I type this, you never know here in Michigan what the weather

holds in the next 24 hours, mid 50's & rain the past few days has the grass greening up,

the spring bulbs starting to open & the Geese starting to couple up.....

These photos are all taken out at the home of the Lady I take care of,

Their home is loving named "Carmalot" it's actually carved in the stone of the

large iron gate at the base of the drive....

the grounds of Carmalot are truly suffering with neglect, since she can no longer care for

the 5 acres that use to be filled with paths, gardens & beautiful vegetable gardens....

Still nature keeps forcing her way up out of the ground, at least the spring bulbs

come up before all the weeds....

the geese certainly did not like me walking around take photos, this is right next to their

very long drive-way...

when I was leaving last night about 9 o'clock, there had been a herd
{what do you call 8 Deer}

feeding at the corn box which I'm sure it's empty today....

This Old Pocket Watch Parts Box,

I still treasure it & the few bottles left inside

it was given to me by my Grandma,

a friend of hers was a watch maker

This was about 44 years ago when I was just 12 years old

[back then at 12, you wanted to be old]

now if you did the math, you know I am 56

[I try to think 56 years young, but it sure depends on the day]

I've always had a fascination with tiny things, when I was little, my favorite dolls

were Liddle Kiddle... so these little glass vials were something I cherished...

I have since collected them, lots of them.... I will never part with the keepsake

my Grandma gave me, but I will share some of my other collection....

Sometimes you need just [1] or maybe 2

not a whole lot of them....

so tonight I listed just that

A bag of antique threads

Do you ever put something away in a Special Spot.....

Tonight I found an old paper bag filled with

antique sewing threads that I had purchased

at least 2 years ago from an Estate Sale....

I guess you could say they have been saved twice,

when I originally bought these at the Estate sale, I was surprised

that they had not been thrown out, they were wrapped in a

bit of cotton fabric & then stuffed into an old paper bag

I obviously had forgotten about them

when I pulled that old bag out of the closet...

I wondered what in the world was in it,
when I felt the silky threads it made me smile,
I knew I had found a treasure....

look at those sweet little Tassels, but they

do need TLC

now it's all safely listed on eBay for someone

to love & enjoy

I was going to say, who's counting, but obviously I was .....

Isn't She Pretty

I am naming her

Scarlett O'Chera

Scarlett is obvious,

the O'Chera if you didn't figure it out

is the mix of O'Hara & Cheryl

Corny, Right...

She is a Teenager, I can hardly believe that pretty little thing

is 13 years old, she was kept in excellent condition,

Bonnie [previous owner] was not very happy when she realized that

"Scarlett" will be spending her nights outdoors,

you see, this car was never left out of the garage overnight,

she may not have made too many Left Turns, either...

I think I saw tears running down Bonnie's face as We drove away.....

I am Over The Moon about having Wheels, it's been so long since I could

I am so Grateful to Family & Friends for always taking me

where I needed to go, luckily I only live around the block

from the Post Office & lots of little strip mall stores, like

the Grocery store....

Afghans & Alzheimer Awareness

Did you know that I am an adult
Care giver for a sweet lady with
Alzheimers... Did you know, her name is Angie... She is 80 years young... it makes me happy to know she has No idea she even
has Alzheimers...

She loves to Crochet... Morning, noon & night, you'll find Angie sitting in the same spot of her well worn sofa, crochet hook & yarn in hand... Her color combo may be a bit off, but who doesn't smile when they see a Rainbow...

Crocheting act as therapy for Angie,

it is keeping her hands nibble & is stimulating her brain,

both great things for Alzheimer patients

I have just ordered MOO cards that can be attached to each Afghan

that I'm selling in My Etsy Shop ~ ZanyMayd

[first 2 photos]

proceeds will help with her care, her supply of yarn

& 10% will be donated to The Alzheimer's Association

My Mom's name was June, she passed away

10 years ago from Dementia, so this

is a cause that is very Dear to My heart

I miss her every day
