They are useful in reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease since they are low in fat, high in dietary fiber, and rich in folic acid, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium, as well as containing a host of phytochemicals, such as lutein, beta-cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotene. One study showed that an increment of one daily serving of green leafy vegetables lowered the risk of cardiovascular disease by 11 percent. Leafy greens can lower your risk of cataracts and protect your eye health.

Tomatoes
The lycopene in tomatoes helps maintain healthy bones and regulates blood pressure. Lycopene fights disease by neutralizing free radicals, which damage normal cell growth. The red pigment contained in tomatoes is called lycopene. This compound appears to act as an antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals that can damage cells in the body. Tomatoes also provide cancer protection and guard against hearth disease.

Cruciferous vegetables.
Broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts and cauliflower also guard against cancer development and increase your body’s detoxification enzymes. . Eating cruciferous vegetables, cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower can help protect women against breast cancer. These veggies help protect against stroke, and add valuable Vitamin A, folate, and calcium to your diet – and are natural ways to get healthy
Orange vegetables. Carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkins and squash provide vitamin A. This vitamin is essential for healthy growth, a strong immune system, and normal vision. Beta carotene makes these veggies orange, which is a powerful antioxidant.

Onions and garlic.
These foods fight diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. Onions have many benefits to health as well. Much like garlic, onions help to increase the HDL cholesterol in the blood, especially when they are eaten in their raw state. Onions also help to decrease the bad cholesterol or LDL in the blood and they increase the ability of the blood to dissolve blood clots. Onions, garlic, chives, and leeks are natural ways to get healthy because they are high in vitamin C, selenium, potassium, and chromium.
.
Berries
Blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, strawberries and raspberries are super foods that fight disease because they’re a great source of vitamin C, fibre, and antioxidants to improve your health. One cup of strawberries contains over 100 mg of vitamin C, almost as much as a cup of orange juice. We need vitamin C for immune system function and for strong connective tissue. Strawberries also add a bit of calcium, magnesium, folate and potassium and only 53 calories. Berries are a natural way to get healthy because they guard against macular degeneration, various cancers, and brain cell loss.

Citrus fruits.
Grapefruit, oranges, tangerines and lemons may protect against skin cancer. These foods fight disease by helping your body detoxify or get rid of toxic substances. Having citrus fruits can keep your heart healthy. This is because studies have shown that prevents rise in levels of oxidized LDL and also help in lowering your blood pressure. Citrus fruits protect you from cancer and stroke, and build up your immune system.

Whole grains
Foods that fight disease include whole wheat, brown rice, oatmeal, and wheat berries. These foods improve health and build immunity by protecting your heart, reducing inflammation, and fighting diabetes.
Fish and seafood. Salmon, char, haddock, shrimp, rainbow trout and sardines are foods that fight disease because of their high omega-3 fish oils. Omega-3’s protect your brain, heart and blood pressure, and are associated with lower risks of various diseases.
Legumes and soy foods. Black beans, soybeans, split peas and tofu are among the “bean and pea” foods that fight disease. Legumes and soy foods are low in fat and high in protein, which help ward off heart disease and prostrate cancer.

The skin disorders can be seen in normal individual too, but diabetics are more frequently prone to it. Fortunately, most of the skin infections can easily be controlled if detected in early stages. Infection can be bacterial, fungal or simple itching. Some of the specific skin infections frequently seen in the diabetic patients are Dermopathy, Necrobiosis lipoidica, Diabeticorum, Xanthomatosis and Blisters.

The key to diabetic skin care is prevention. Skin problems are not usually a symptom of diabetes, but can be a result of it. A diabetic’s tendency towards dehydration can lead fairly quickly to dry skin. Dry, cracked skin can become infected and as any diabetic knows an out of control infection can lead to amputation. That’s a high price to pay for something as easily prevented as dry skin.

Diabetes Skin Infections:

Bacterial infections :- Bacterial infections are more commonly seen in people with diabetes than in normal individuals. Styes - Infection of glands and eyelids, Boils and hair follicles infections, skin and tissue are affected by carbuncles. These infections are spread by few bacterial germs but the most common is Staphylococcus bacteria.

Fungal infections :- Candida-albicans is the yeast-like fungus, responsible for red sore skin with frequent sense of itching and developing into blisters and scales. These patchy infections usually appear at skin folding, where moisture is persisting for longer period, like armpits and groin, under the foreskin, under breast, finger and toes-nail (onychomycosis), in the mouth (thrush), in the vagina etc. Some of the known fungal infections are athlete's foot, ring worms and jock itch.

Itching :- Itching may result from poor blood circulation, dry skin, or any kind of bacterial and viral infection, mostly observed in lower extremities. Wiping your body till completely dry and using good moisturizing agent are the suggestive steps to manage simple itching.

Diabetic Dermopathy :- Dermopathy shows skin changes occurring in diabetics due to affected blood vessels (i.e. oval to circular), slightly indented dry brown to purple and scaly patches. When zinc doses are administered for several weeks it appears to help the lesions resolve over several months, especially when combined with near normal blood sugars.

Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum :- Necrobiosis Lipodica Diabecicorum (NLD) seems similar to dermopathy, but it is more worst than the latter, as it penetrates deeply into the skin, making the spots red with a well defined purple line. See your doctor at right time or else it may crack or break.

Xanthomatosis, Sclerosis and Diabetic blisters :- High blood sugar aggravates these conditions; xanthomatosis is slight yellowish pea like pigmentation in feet, arms, legs, hands, buttocks etc. In sclerosis, skin of toe, forehead, hands becomes thick and waxy, and stiffness in the joints is observed. Sometimes painless diabetic blisters erupt in the fingers, toes, hands, forehands and feet look like burned sores. These are commonly seen in overweight, type 1 diabetic, and revert back to normal as soon as blood sugar is controlled out.

Disseminated Granuloma Annulare :- Sharp well define ring or arc shape raised area of skin is seen, then it is nothing but disseminated granuloma annulare. The common body parts where it can be seen are on the fingers or ears.

Acanthosis nigricans :- This is the condition, in which brown tanned patches appear in different parts of the body like neck, armpits and groin, hands, elbow and knees. This is usually seen in the people with overweight; especially women are more likely to be caught with this.

Allergic Reactions :- Visible allergic reaction in the area of skin is examined when insulin is injected and, it may develop rashes.

Preventing skin complications in a diabetic is as simple as it is in non-diabetics. There are a lot of products out there that are marketed just for diabetics. These products are no different in content or effectiveness from the products sold without the diabetic connection. So it is not necessary to spend extra money for something just because it is marketed for diabetic skin care. You need only use a reliable product and keep a keen eye out for injuries.

The only products that you should be wary of and should consult your healthcare professional before using are products designed to burn or peel your skin and products containing any type of steroid. The products for burning or peeling include wart or corn removers and even some face care products. Due to decreased sensitivity, these products can cause injuries that will not be detected right away. In fact some of these products can even cause decreased sensitivity in the area they are used.

Products that contain steroids are anti-itch creams and some analgesic creams. Prolonged steroid use in a non-diabetic can lead to heart & circulation problems. In a diabetic this same side effect could be deadly. Your healthcare professional is the person best suited for determining whether this should concern you. Some diabetics can use either of the above mentioned products whenever they like with no problems. Some cannot use them even once. If you are not sure which is the case for you, then ask your doctor.

There are some other things that should be avoided. Steer away from moisturizers and lotions that leave an opaque film on your skin. These products can make it difficult to see an injury once it has occurred. Also, they reduce the amount of oxygen that reaches the skin. Your skin is not just an outer covering. It is an actual organ that requires oxygen to not only function but to survive. Lack of oxygen can just as quickly lead to problems as an infection. Without good blood flow and plenty of oxygen, the skin can begin to die. A condition known as gangrene. If not caught in time this can and will lead to amputation.

Along those same lines, you should avoid putting moisturizers or lotions in the small, “enclosed” spaces on your body. Such as between toes, in any orifice, and skin folds like armpits and genital or groin areas. Again, this contributes to the skin not getting a enough oxygen and staying too moist thus allowing the skin to break down.

You should also avoid using sharp objects to remove skin in any manner. These include, but are not limited to, razor blades, knives, and nail clippers. Speak to your healthcare professional about anything that you feel needs to be removed, such as warts, corns, or calluses. In some patients manicures and pedicures are allowable, but always check with your doctor. He or she may not feel either of these are safe in your case. Even though they may seem harmless, the removal of skin and cuticle material is an integral part of both a manicure and a pedicure. That can lead to an injury that could have been avoided.

If you are given the okay for a manicure or pedicure. Choose the establishment with care. Make sure that they use effective means of sterilization. All objects and tools should be soaked in alcohol prior to being used on you. Razor blades used in tools such as a callus shavers should be new to insure sharpness as well as their being sterile. Don’t forget the technician should also wash their hands thoroughly before beginning.

Keeping all of these things in mind should insure that your skin care will prevent further complications.

There are also many people who have acquired a misshapen nose due to some accident they may have suffered from. Even more unfortunate are those who are born with some nasal defect that prevent them from breathing easily. If you happen to suffer from any one of these problems, all is not lost, as you can consider undergoing a nose job, otherwise know as rhinoplasty.Rhinoplasty is a rather simple cosmetic procedure that is performed on millions of patients all across the USA every year. But you should be adequately informed about the surgery before taking the final decision. Here are tips to get you well prepared for your rhinoplasty procedure.

Plan your rhinoplasty surgery well, so that you get the best result from it. You should communicate clearly to your doctor your expectation from the surgery. After evaluating the structure of your nose and face, the rhinoplasty surgeon may lay down different options before you. Discuss each possibility with your doctor thoroughly. There are several factors that may affect the results. The most important of these factors are face cutting, the nasal bone structure and structure of the cartilage, the type of your skin and your age. Your expectation is another important factor that may influence the procedure and its outcome.

At this stage you have to be clear about the type of anesthesia to be used and the technique to be employed. Also ask him about the rhinoplasty cost and the facilities to be used at the clinic. Rhinoplasty is generally not covered by insurance. But if the procedure is performed to correct your breathing problem, then the costs will be covered by insurance. So it is important to contact your insurer prior to the operation.

During the planning stage you should also inform the rhinoplasty surgeon about any previous nose surgery or any nasal injury you may have had. Also let your nose doctor know if you suffer from allergies or breathing difficulties. Do not forget to keep him informed about the medicines or vitamins, or any other drugs that you are currently consuming.

After you and the doctor have agreed upon the date for the rhinoplasty operation, the doctor will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for the surgery. The instruction includes guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications. There are also specific instructions relating to face wash. You should carefully follow this set of instructions.

Another important aspect of preparation is to arrange with somebody to drive you back home after the surgery. It would be even better if you can also arrange for someone to come and stay with you for a few days after the surgery.

This is most often genetically determined, but may also be out of proportion as a result of an injury to the face or jaw. If the chin appears too large or too small, cosmetic surgery can alter the look.

Cosmetic surgery offers patients a way to rebalance their chin to the rest of their face so they can feel better about their appearance, with the chin in proportion to the rest of the face. Surgery to the chin, in medical terms, is known as mentoplasty. Reshaping of the chin occurs in one of two ways, either by augmmenting or reducing the features. When the chin is supplemented, first an incision will be made.

Then the surgeon will insert an implant to balance the chin out. Before augmenting the chin, measurements will be taken to ensure that the implant is the proper proportion to balance the chin with the rest of the face. If the mentoplasty is aimed at reducing the size of the chin, the surgeon will make an incision and remove parts of the bone. Chin surgery is often a recommended when a person is having rhinoplasty or nose surgery.

This will retain the face's proportions and maintina a better overall look. The appearance of the chin is also known to alter the look of the nose. If the chin is oversized, the nose may look disproportionately smaller. If the chin is reduced, then the nose may appear to be larger. This is important to take into consideration before selecting Chin surgery.Unless there are complications, chin surgery normally takes an hour or under to perform. To ensure proper healing, following the surgery, a patient will be expected to wear gauze.

Because of the stress on the area, there may also be side affects such as bruising and swelling throughout the face. However, chin surgery is known to have few side affects after the healing takes place. It is necessary to allow a minimum of two and three weeks for the proper changes in the chin to be effective and not as strained.

Though not as well known as nose surgery, chin surgery can help you to adjust the proportions of your face. If you are unhappy with your chin's appearance either because it is too large or too small, you may opt for Chin surgery as a cosmetic procedure to increase your satisfaction with your looks.

Prior to considering chin surgery, you should become very familiar with what the procedure involves. You should also be sure that you find a reputable and well-qualified surgeon to carry out the procedure properly. Being prepared for surgery will allow you to move easily through the procedure and the recovery and to be pleased with the results. Chin surgery can be one of the simplest methods available to achieve the proper facial proportions

Its size and shape influence our entire facial appearance. A well-shaped nose appears balanced and in harmony with all of a person's facial features. When the nose is too large or too small for the face it will seem out of balance or asymmetric.

Even if the nose is properly sized, but the individual parts of the nose are not well proportioned to one another, then the nose will appear out of synch with the rest of the face. These problems can be due to trauma, genetics, or previous surgery.

A well-balanced, proportionate and harmonious nose is essential for a beautiful or handsome appearance and it is for this reason that so many people seek to change and improve the shape of their nose. The Plastic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the nose is called a rhinoplasty.

Plastic surgeons have helped hundreds of patients achieve tremendous enhancement of their self-image and self-confidence with his unique approach to rhinoplasty.

A rhinoplasty is an appropriate procedure for people who have nasal deformity, asymmetry of the nose, a history of trauma to the nose, difficulty breathing through the nose, a nose that is too large for the face, a nose that is too small for the face, a history of previous nasal surgery.

The most important first step in preparing for a rhinoplasty is during the consultation process. At this time a board certified plastic surgeon will carefully evaluate your nose and determine exactly the problems areas.

Your surgeon will evaluate your nose in relation to your entire face and will use this information to develop a well thought out plan to improve your appearance. Preparing a proper pre-operative plan is essential to the successful outcome of Rhinoplasty. Your surgeon will map out exactly what is to be performed prior to entering the operating room.

During the procedure, attention will be focused on the underlying bone and cartilage, which make up the shape of your nose. It is on these structures that alterations will be made to give you your new shape. The operation can be performed thru either an open or closed approach.

During a rhinoplasty, any difficulty with breathing through your nose can also be corrected. A correction of a deviated septum and/or enlarged turbinates, structures that warm and moist air as it travels through the nose, can be performed at the same time.

At the conclusion of the procedure an external dressing, which, usually includes a splint, is applied. This dressing is usually removed at about one week after the procedure. Packing is often placed inside the nose to control any post-operative bleeding.

The packing is usually removed after two or three days. Most patients experience some degree of swelling and bruising of the cheeks and lower eyelids following surgery. Interestingly, most patients complain of very little pain after this operation.

Like all surgery, there is some degree of risk, such as bleeding, infection and the risk of anesthesia, which a well trained, Board Certified will take every precaution to prevent.

Rhinoplasty offers an excellent opportunity to improve your appearance. The ability to have a well-shaped, well-proportioned nose can leave patients with a new sense of well-being and confidence. Many people who have felt stifled or inhibited because of the way they perceive their appearance have gone on to experience a sense of improved self-image and self-esteem following a rhinoplasty.

To best understand all of your options, a full consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon is recommended.

This procedure has become extremely popular. The reasons are, it is very effective at treating the jawline and neck, it has a short recovery period, low risk, lower cost, lasting, and can easily be done under local anesthesia.

There are a lot of different types of mini lifts being performed. Some procedures involve simply removing a small amount of skin. However, to create lasting and meaningful results, the deep muscles (SMAS) of the face and neck need to be addressed. In this case, through very small incisions, the muscle layer of the face and neck are repositioned to a more youthful position.

The key to a natural and effective outcome is directly dependent on the vector the surgeon uses to elevate the deep tissues. Once the deep structures are restored to the more youthful configuration, the skin should simply redrape over the enhanced contour.

The skin should not be pulled or tightened. These are the most important factors in preventing the "operated" look or the "wind tunnel" appearance that so many patients fear.

This is the perfect procedure for individuals in their 40's and 50's with active lifestyles, or older patients who want to minimize downtime yet still get excellent results. The recovery is often about 1 week. Even though, a full facelift can sometimes result in more dramatic outcomes, especially in the neck, taking everything into consideration, many of our patients feel that this is the perfect balance. The results are extremely natural and the healing is very predictable.

There are many different definitions of a Mini Facelift or Mini Lift. In general, it is less invasive than a full face and necklift and requires less downtime to recover. The reason why so many patients choose the mini facelift is that it creates excellent results with minimal downtime and cost. It addresses the jowls, jawline, lower cheeks, and neck.

The procedure can be effectively used to rejuvenate the lower face in all age ranges. Adding to its popularity is the fact that, it has a short recovery period, low risk, lower cost, long lasting, and can easily be done under local anesthesia. There are a lot of different types of minilifts being performed.

Some procedures involve simply removing a small amount of skin. However, to create lasting and meaningful results, the deep muscles (SMAS) of the face and neck need to be addressed. In this case, through very small incisions, the muscle layer of the face and neck are repositioned to a more youthful position. The effects on the neck are very dramatic. In many cases it is equivalent to a neck lift with out the prolonged recovery.

The completed procedure will make a more youthful shape ultimately leaving the individual looking rejuvenated.

The key to a natural and effective outcome is directly dependent on the vector (direction) the surgeon uses to elevate the deep tissues. Once the deep structures are restored to the more youthful configuration, the skin should simply redrape over the enhanced contour.

The skin should not be pulled or tightened. These are the most important factors in preventing the "operated" look or the "wind tunnel" appearance that so many patients are afraid of. The recovery is often about 1 week.

Even though, a full facelift can sometimes result in more dramatic outcomes, especially in the neck, taking everything into consideration, many of our patients feel that this is the perfect balance. The results are extremely natural and the healing is very predictable.

The mini lift procedure is complimented nicely with conservative upper eyelid blepharoplasty (eyelid tuck) and fat transfer. The result leave patients looking softer, fresher and more rejuvenated yet very natural. It does not change the appearance it simply restores the youthful look.

Plus, like any muscles, your abs need time to recover between workouts.
Never grasp the back of your neck while performing crunches. As you get tired, you'll automatically pull on your neck to help you finish your last reps.
Instead, cross your arms on your chest, your hands resting on your shoulders, and let your stomach do all the work.
Whenever you feel any strain on your lower or upper back while performing your abdominal routine, stop. Your back muscles are starting to fatigue and tighten, which means your abs are so tired they're recruiting your back muscles to help do the work.
Many exercises that target your lower abs, such as leg raises and hanging leg raises are especially guilty of making your hip flexors do all the work. Your hip flexors attach to your lower back. If you put too much strain on them, your lower back will eventually pay the price. These are simple mistakes many if not all of us have made at one point or another. Hopefully these simple insights can help make your exercising safer and more fruitful. It is very important to prevent injury whenever possible as this is not only undesirable but can create some serious down. Nobody wants to be nursing an injury on the couch while all their hard earned muscles just disappear. Good luck.

Here's how to burn that stubborn fat.
1. Cardio and more cardio. If you have too much body fat try doing 30 minutes of cardio at least three times a week.
2. Don't forget to do some weightlifting exercises. Adding lean mass to your frame speeds up your metabolism which in turn burns more calories even when at rest.
3. Protein is very important to repair damaged muscles after intense workouts. The best sources: fish, egg whites, and lean meats.
4. Cook chicken with the skin on to preserve flavor but peel it off before you eat it.
5. Omelets should be made using egg whites instead of whole eggs.
6. Avoid high-fat nuts like peanuts and walnuts or nut oils.
7. Use fat-free butter substitutes.
8. Drink non-fat milk instead of whole milk.
9. Use olive oil instead of creamy salad dressings which can negate the nutritional value of your meal.
10. Try using mustard instead of mayonnaise on sandwiches.
11. Stay away from alcohol altogether as it is filled with empty calories.
12. Beware of the brand muffin myth. Once you add up all the calories in these muffins and some of the granola bars out there, your better off eating something you actually like.
13. Try not eating much after 9 p.m. when your metabolism is much slower than earlier in the day.
14. Eat slowly and enjoy your food.
15. Eat five or six small meals spread evenly throughout the day..rather than 3 big meals.

keywords:
15 Ways to Lose the Fat Covering your Abs

Eating a lot will increase it and going on a diet will do the opposite. Nutrition and exercise both play a very important role in the amount of fat stored in your body. The type, amount and timing of the food you eat greatly influences your body fat percentage. Through proper nutrition you can lower your body fat, which will ultimately make you healthier and help you look your best.

The calories we eat are made of fat, carbs and protein. They have different functions in the body and we need to eat all of them to properly function and stay healthy. Going on diets that limit one of these nutrients isn't a good idea. Generally, 30% of your calories should come from fat, 50-60% from carbohydrates and the remaining from protein. Don't avoid fat as eating it doesn't necessarily make you fat.

Stick to foods that contain high amounts of fiber, complex carbohydrates, unsaturated fat and lean protein. These foods will keep you full and help you eat less. Stay away from foods that are high in simple carbs like sugars since these are digested quickly and will leave you hungry in no time. For reducing body fat, the amount you eat is more important than the types of food. First, use the Daily Calorie Needs Calculator to figure out how many calories your body burns per day. To lose body fat you need to eat less calories than you burn. Your body will use fat stores to make up the difference.

Whenever you eat a meal, any calories that are not burned up are stored for later use. If you eat a large meal with 800 calories, you may only use 300 of those. Because of this, the timing of your meals matter. Split up the total calories you eat in a day between 6 small meals. If you eat 2000 calories in a day, (2000 divided by 6 meals per day) each meal should be around 330 calories. Eating smaller meals more often will help the body use energy more efficiently without needing to store any as fat.

Getting rid of body fat can be a slow process. Following these simple guidelines will help you lose it in the quickest and healthiest way possible.

There is an inescapable link between the source, the food and the healthy consumer. Our physical body needs more than wholesome nutrition: mind and consciousness play a significant role in our well-being. The future of mankind lies not in cures, but in disease prevention.

Prevention of Disease

Through creating awareness based on these facts, we can heal ourselves. The link between nutrition and health is mainly focused around the role of macro-nutrients, vitamins and minerals and the importance of water. There are dietary habits that could undermine our health and these habits can be overcome , if we make the effort to know more about the effects they have on our health and get rid of unhealthy social trends.

Filtered Water and its importance

The link between nutrition and health is necessary to achieve optimal health and, in order to deepen this knowledge, it is essential to know the nutritional value of our food intake. Water plays also an essential part of our basic needs. City tap water has come to be considered a processed, unnatural substance. The are fortunately various sources of water available to us. Each individual needs a certain amount of water in order to get an optimal support to his body functions. There are many pollutants in the city tap water like lead, radon and nitrates and those have effects on the body and can be dangerous over time. It is an uncomfortable time and we encourage you to drink plenty of fluids to help avoid a sore throat.

Painkillers will be offered to you; however, the congested nasal feeling is more the reason for the discomfort. The packs will be removed prior to you going home and this will help to make your breathing a little easier.

What to do and what not to do after nose surgery

Though it is not considered an easy one among the types of plastic surgery that are practised nowadays, it is not very difficult either compared to other types of human surgery. What a patient who has undergone a nose job might find annoying is the period of time that immediately follows the procedure and the months to come, since the 'final' results of the surgery can only be noticeable within one year or less.

As soon as the procedure is over, the surgeon places packing into the patient's nostrils. The packing must be kept there for about a week because it provides two very important functions: it keeps the septum and the mucosal lining in place and also reduces bleeding and internal scarring. If the doctor considers that an additional external splint is necessary you should keep it there too for as long as it is needed.

During the days that follow the operation, you may feel pain in the area around the nose as well as inside it. If the doctor prescribes medication that relieves pain, you should take it for your own comfort. Healing will no complete earlier if you don't.

As swelling (both internal and external) is one of the most obvious side-effects of nose surgery, the surgeon may prescribe decongestants too. You mustn't underestimate the decongestants role either - they do help healing by reducing the pressure that swelling causes upon the area.

Swelling can also be reduced by keeping your head in an elevated position in the first week after the operation. When the bandage and splints have been removed, you may continue to keep swelling under control by applying cold compresses to the area.

The feeling that thousands of needles are pricking the end of your nose will be as annoying as pain. Do not try scratching your nose (the bandage won't let you anyway); you may injure the nose structure if you touch your nose, even through the bandage. Avoid bumping the nose and any similar trauma for a few months after the surgery so as not to get adverse effects on the healing process.

Keeping out of the sun is a must for at least two months after the operation as the top skin layer of your nose might peel because of the sunrays. If you really cannot avoid going out in the sun, wear a hat and sunscreen.

Try not to blow your nose and if you feel like sneezing, do that out of your nose. Otherwise you might damage the internal nose tissue.

Avoid any kind of activity that implies effort and increases blood pressure: jogging, swimming, even sexual activity can prevent your nose from healing as it should.

Some doctors also advise using compression techniques to reduce swelling in certain cases following nose surgery. However these techniques are not good for everybody. They consist in pressing the nasal bones with your index fingers for one minute, several times a day. If your doctor hasn't told you anything of the kind, don't do this.

Keywords:

nose reshaping surgery

This chemical reacts with the amino acids on the outer layer of skin which changes its colour. The DHA starts to work within about two hours of the tan application and carries on for twelve hours.

Depending on your skin type, an airbrush tan can last for anything up to ten days. It can be maintained for as long as you need it, with top up applications of tanning solution.

The colour you get from a spray tan won’t tan wash off; but it will start to fade as the upper layers of your epidermis wear away naturally. If you aren’t pleased with the results, you can always try to speed things up by gently scrubbing with a wash cloth but as a rule it will still take around a week for the spray tan to disappear totally.
What Should I Do Before a spray tanning Session?

* Shower and exfoliate your skin well before you go for a sunless tanning session. You won’t be able to shower for around twelve hours after the session, if you want the spray tan to be effective.
* Shave or wax the day before your treatment.
* Don’t wear any perfumes, lotions or deodorants which might stop the tanning solution from working by creating a barrier on your skin.
* Take off any watches and other jewellery.
* Wear dark underwear to the tanning booth, and loose dark clothing to the salon, to avoid the tanning solution rubbing off on your clothes.

Is a spray tan Safe?
There’s no reason to think otherwise. DHA has been used in cosmetics for almost 30 years and has been declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics used to colour the skin. The chemical is a natural sugar that’s also found in walnuts and rape seed oil plants, often used as a sweetener. It’s not absorbed into the body and isn’t toxic. Having said that, it’s not advisable to go for spray tanning if you are pregnant, just to be on the safe side.

It shouldn’t cause you any harm if you accidentally breathe in any of the spray tanning mist while having a treatment, and even if it gets into your eyes it won’t do any damage, although you’re advised to keep them closed anyway.

If you haven’t had a spray tan before, you should have a patch test before tanning. Some people are allergic to DHA, and so they will have a reaction if they try tanning with any sunless tanning solutions. Although the allergy is rare, it’s definitely worth having the test done before you set foot in the tanning booth!

Keywords:

spray tanning

But due to technological advancements tattoo removal has indeed become less painful or rather painless too. There are actually two options available when it comes to tattoo removal, one is the light based removal technology and the other is laser technology.

Both the technologies used for tattoo removal use light based energy to remove the ink of the tattoo. The ink actually will suck the energy in the light and hence resulting in breaking up. And after breaking up the ink it can easily be removed using filtering. It is one of the safest option right now involved with tattoo removal.

The tattoo removal process is very similar to hair removal. As the person or doctor who performs this will pass high beam light on the ink and will make it break and hence making it easier to remove.

The light effect will be like hitting your skin with rubber band constantly. Naturally the bigger tattoos will be more painful to remove, especially when it comes to the sensitive areas. It is also advisable to numb the area where muscles are involved to make it less painful.

Although both the procedures involve pain and some after effect, laser removal of the tattoo is more safer and preferred.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Creating a tattoo on your skin depends upon your desire and it applies to your choice of removing it. As the fashion trend keeps on changing, everyone would also like to change his/her personality. Although it is difficult to remove tattoo due to the used pigments, which are inserted deeply into the skin, yet with the help of the evolving technique it has become easy to remove a tattoo. This new tattoo removing method is known as Laser Tattoo Removal and it is gaining popularity day by day. This technique of tattoo removing is expensive but much better than the other techniques.

There are so many tattoo-removal methods and you can choose the one according to the size, skin color and the part of the body. Laser tattoo removal is very safe method to remove the tattoos. There are three main lasers such as Q-switched Nd; Yag, Q-switched Ruby and Q-switched Alexandrite and these lasers are used frequently. The method usually takes 10 minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the tattoo. This process may take more than one sitting after the duration gap of weeks. After a laser tattoo-removing process, the skin may look like the sunburn.

In Dermabrasion method of tattoo removing, an instrument can be rubbed on the tattoo and it peels off the skin and then a dressing can be applied to protect skin from the infection. Like other tattoo removing methods, IPL is also an advanced method to remove the tattoos. It treats tattoo with the help of high intensity light and this method is painless and much effective than the laser treatment but bit costlier as well.

People with dry, curly hair have different hair care needs than people with straight, fine hair. But all hair needs to be treated gently, especially when it's wet. Wet hair can stretch, making it more vulnerable to breakage or cuticle damage. That's why using a hot blow-dryer (or other heat styling products) on very wet hair can damage it.

Some people find that their hair gets oily in their teen years. That's because the hair follicles contain sebaceous glands that make sebum, which moisturizes the hair and skin. During adolescence, the sebaceous glands may become overactive, producing more oil than needed. As with acne, oily hair is usually a temporary part of puberty.

Many teens care for oily hair by washing it once a day -- or more if they're active. As long as you treat your hair gently when it's wet, frequent washing shouldn't harm it. If you have acne, it's a good idea to keep the hair around your face clean so hair oils don't clog your pores.

If you're washing your hair every day or more, it may be better to choose a mild shampoo instead of a shampoo designed for oily hair. For some people -- especially people with fine, fragile, or combination hair (hair that's oily at the crown but dry on the ends) -- shampoos for oily hair can be too harsh. If you have oily hair and want to use a conditioner, choose one that's made for oily hair.

If your hair is dry, it's a good idea to wash it less frequently. Some people only need to wash their hair once a week -- and that's fine. Many people who have curly hair also have dry hair. Curly and dry hair types are usually more fragile than straight hair, so you'll need to be especially careful about using heat styling products. Shampoos made for dry hair and hair conditioners can help.

Your activity level and interests. Do you play sports or spend a lot of time at the beach? These kinds of things can affect your hair. For example, if you're an athlete with oily hair, you may want to wash your hair after working up a sweat during practice and games. But if you're a lifeguard or a swimmer, sun and saltwater (or the chlorine in pool water) can dry your hair out, no matter what your hair type. If you're exposed to sun, wind, or other elements, you may want to use a shampoo designed for dry hair or use a conditioner. It's also a good idea to wear a hat to protect your hair when you're outdoors.

Your hairstyle. Heat styling products like curling and straightening irons can dry out even oily hair if they're used too much. Follow the instructions carefully, and don't use them on wet hair or high settings, and give your hair a vacation from styling once in a while. Ask your hair stylist or dermatologist for advice on using heat styling products.

Chemical treatments can also harm hair if they're not used properly. If you decide you want a chemical treatment to color, straighten, or curl your hair, it's best to trust the job to professionals. Stylists who are trained in applying chemicals to hair will be able to evaluate your hair type and decide which chemicals will work best for you.

Here are some things to be aware of when getting chemical treatments:

Relaxers. Relaxers (straighteners) work by breaking chemical bonds in curly hair. Relaxers containing lye can cause skin irritation and hair breakage. Although "no lye" relaxers may cause less irritation, both types of relaxers can cause problems if they are used in the wrong way (for example, if they're mixed incorrectly or left on the hair for too long). Scratching, brushing, or combing your hair right before a chemical relaxing treatment can increase these risks. And don't use relaxers -- or any hair treatment -- if your scalp is irritated. If you decide to keep straightening your hair, you'll need to wait at least 6 weeks before your next treatment to protect your hair. Relaxers can cause hair breakage when used over a period of time, even when they're used properly. Using blow-dryers, curling or straightening irons, or color on chemically relaxed hair can also increase the risk of damage.

Perms. Perms take straight hair and make it curly. The risks are similar to those associated with relaxers.

Color. There are two types of color: permanent (which means the color stays in your hair until it grows out) and semi-permanent (the color washes out after a while). Some semi-permanent coloring treatments, like henna, are fairly safe and easy to use at home. Some people get a condition called contact dermatitis (an allergic reaction with a rash) from henna and other "natural" products, so be sure to test a small area first.

Other color treatments -- especially permanent treatments -- can cause hair loss, burning, redness, and irritation. A few types of coloring treatments can cause allergic reactions in certain people, and in rare cases these can be very serious. So talk to your stylist if you are worried that you may be sensitive to the products. Also, talk to your stylist about doing a patch test before using a product. And never use hair dyes on your eyelashes or eyebrows.

Regular haircuts are one of the best ways to help keep hair healthy. Even if you have long hair or you're trying to grow your hair, a haircut can help protect the ends of your hair from splitting and damage. In fact, cutting may actually help your hair grow better because it's healthy and not breaking off.

Keywords:

caring for hair

For example acute stress either via work or personal life could cause a rapid and sudden shedding of large amounts of hair. So the causes of hair loss are not always so simple and 'telogen effluvium' (fast hair loss), is not as bad as it would first seem because most, if not all, of the hair will grow back after a short period of time as the body readjusts itself and hormone levels re-adjust.

The more common variety of male hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, known as male pattern baldness, which is caused by a combination of male hormones and a hereditary tendency to lose hair. These men have a scalp that is extra sensitive to the male sex hormones circulating in the blood stream.

The trigger for losing your hair is currently believed to be an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which inhibits growth in certain genetically prone hair follicles on the scalp. It causes the follicles to shrink to the point where they become so small they cannot replace lost hair. The follicles are alive but not longer able to perform their task. There are other problems that can cause hair loss such as: Hormonal problems, an imbalance caused by an over or under active thyroid gland for instance may make your hair fall out.

Also some medicines, especially blood thinners, antidepressants, birth control pills, medicines used to treat gout and cancer, and excessive intake of vitamin A. Also infections could be a cause, such as fungal infections of the scalp. Finally an underlying disease such as diabetes may cause hair loss and would be an early sign of this problem, in this case it would be important to find out the cause so it can be treated.

There are plenty of hairs to mask this though. The hairs will continue to re-grow and there is no sign of anything being wrong. Yet, for many individuals, this is not the case. They begin to lose hair and it does not grow back. This is when individuals begin to worry about their condition. What is wrong with me? Hair loss can be a symptom of another condition. It can be hereditary. Or, it can be something that just seems to happen for no reason. In all of these cases, the damage done is not just to the hair loss itself, but it is often the psychological damage that can be more harmful.

Understanding what is happening is essentially the first obstacle to overcome. Baldness or alopecia as it is medically called is the condition in which hair becomes progressively thinner over time. Usually, this happens on the head, but can happen throughout the body. Men are most commonly affected, but female baldness does happen as well. In cases where not all of the hair falls out, this is generally called pattern baldness. In most cases, the more hair that is lost, the less successful hair treatments can be. Yet, there have been some that have helped individuals.

Usually, there are not physical problems with not having hair on the head. As long as it is not a symptom of a disease or treatment, hair loss does not have to be something that is going to cause a physical problem within the body. But, there are signs and symptoms of this causing emotional trauma to the individual. This can be things such as anxiety, stress and even leads to depression in some cases. Those that do not like what is happening to them may find themselves struggling with their new identity. This is worsened when the eyebrows as well as the eyelashes are lost.

When an individual begins to notice hair loss that is out of the ordinarily thick, or when he or she notices that their hair seems to be thinning, taking action can help to reduce or stop this from happening. Taking steps as soon as possible is necessary and should be done. There are several medical treatments as well as natural treatments that can help to treat hair loss. Often, there is no cure, but there can be help.

It offers a new lease of life to a tired shape after significant weight loss, pregnancy or just the general force of gravity and aging.

Breast Uplift

The one problem that is found to affect older women across the world is sagging breasts. As they grow older, women find that their breast lose their sturdiness and tend to sag down giving them a very bad look. Such women prefer appearing for breast uplift surgery to improve the shape of their breasts and give it a more firm look and feel. Women give a lot of importance to the way they look and in case they feel that they do not look good they are found to have a low morale. This is why women prefer going for a breast uplift surgery.

While considering going for a breast uplift surgery one should carefully see to it that what will be the consequences of going for such a surgery. If the surgery is not conducted in a proper way, it can lead to various complications that can aggravate the problems faced by the women. It is suggested that the women should carry out a good deal of consultation with their friends and family whether to go ahead with the surgery or not. They should discuss all the problems that they might have to face and whether going for the surgery would be a good decision or not.

The women who are interested in >breast uplift surgery should carry out a good research on the expertise of the doctor who would be performing the surgery. If the surgery is not performed by an expert doctor then the surgery could result in a great number of risks. Thus it becomes very necessary to check on the capability of a surgeon before entrusting the surgery to them.

If breast uplift surgery is done along with breast enlargement, it improves the look and feel of the breast. The surgery does take only a few hours and it takes only a few days to recover from the surgery. There have been cases where women have reported feeling a pain in the breasts after the surgery but it is not a serious matter and one can do away with pain by having some painkillers.

After having a >breast uplift surgery, some women report having scars on the regions where the doctors make the incisions while performing the surgery and if not properly treated the scars may become permanent. Many women also report having infections on their body which requires proper treatment.

>breast uplift surgery is really a blessing for countless women who are found to have trouble with sagging breasts. These days the numbers of doctors who perform such surgeries have increased profoundly and you can also find that the charges that these doctors are charging are different. It is best to go to an experienced doctor and pay a rather exorbitant pay rather than getting a cheap treatment from an inexperienced doctor and risk your life.

If you yourself suffer from a sagging breast get yourself a >breast uplift surgery and be relieved of your tensions. But see to it that you are assured of getting a quality treatment.

Few Precautions during Breast Uplift

Another precaution you will want to take relates to general anesthetic. Many people find that they have an allergic reaction when placed under. If this is you, do not have this surgery. Next, make sure you have someone to help you after the procedure.

The recovery is painful, and you will not be able to lift heavy things, including your children. If you have small children around, you will want to arrange to have some help around the house. Also, keep in mind that asymmetry in the breast is completely natural.

Even after surgery, some asymmetry will exist. This is normal, and does not indicate a botched surgery. And, you will have scars as a result of the surgery. Finally, make sure that you are psychologically ready for the surgery. Many women who seek breast surgery think that fixing their physical appearance will fix all of their problems.

When that does not happen, they become depressed. Many plastic surgeons will ask for a psychological evaluation before they will do a surgical procedure on a patient.

Keywords:

breast uplift surgery

Along with the increase in the cosmetic procedure industries, such as plastic surgery, laser hair removal has become increasingly popular. The reason why people would choose to get laser hair removal done is because it claims, by destroying hair follicles at the root, re-growth will be slowed or actually stop completely where the procedure is done.

When getting laser hair removal you must think about many different ups and downs of going with this particular procedure. With laser hair removal, although it may be convenient, it can be permanent, so if you feel that you may at some point want to grow hair again, and you've gone through laser hair removal procedures, it might be an impossibility to regain the ability to grow hair. This can also be an up to getting laser hair removal. If you have a problem with excessive hair growth in places where hair growth is not desired, you can go through the procedure and see some positive results in the hair growth slowing down, or even stopping completely.

Laser hair removal procedures unfortunately are not a one time deal. Many times you must return and go through many sessions of the laser hair removal. This can be costly as well as painful at times. Using hot lasers to remove the hair from your body can cause burning and scaring which also may be irreversible. If you are interested in getting laser hair removal you should check the credentials of the person who is performing the procedure. Your best bet for finding someone who can offer you the best level of service because of their experience and knowledge in the procedure is a Dermatologist.

With the technologies growing significantly in laser hair removal, and the popularity of the procedure booming, many salons now offer laser hair removal as well as permanent make-up. These places aren't typically using professional medically certified Dermatologists to perform the procedures. This can be dangerous and costly. If you have laser hair removal done and the procedure is botched by inexperience, the damage done could be lifelong and non repairable.

If you have excessive hair growth and you have tried other forms of treatment such as depilatory creams and standard shaving, then you may want to consider laser hair removal as an option to rid your life of that pesky hair. To find a laser hair removal provider in your area, you can search in the yellow pages under hair removal, or, the better bet would be to get a referral to a laser hair removal center through a medically trained, licensed dermatologist. Make sure before settling on laser hair removal that you weigh all of your options out and choose the one that will be most cost efficient, long lasting, and worth your time and money. Remember, if the job gets botched sometimes the scarring that happens can be forever. Are you willing to risk that? With everything there is a risk, just make sure you weigh your options before settling on laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is the act of using laser technology to destroy hair growth at the follicle. Along with the increase in the cosmetic procedure industries, such as plastic surgery, laser hair removal has become increasingly popular.

Laser Hair removal: Ideal Candidate
If you have light colored skin with dark colored hair, you are the ideal person to have hair removed with laser. With developments in lasers and cooling devices, dark skinned people can also get hair removed with laser.

As lasers get attracted to the pigment, dark skinned people are in the danger of their skin absorbing laser and resulting in blisters and swelling. Before getting treated, dark skinned persons should talk with the physician and technician about the facility they have and the possible results.

Similarly if you have light colored hair, you should talk to the concerned professionals. Lasers get attracted to dark pigments and are ideal for dark hair. Light hair such as blonde, etc. does not attract much laser.

With new developments, these shortcomings are getting removed. If your skin is tanned with sun or artificial devices, you will have to wait for laser hair removal till your tan fades away.
Tanned skin is difficult to treat for hair removal because tanning disturbs the pigments of the skin and such people can experience skin discoloration or blistering.

If you have a history of cold sores or herpes simplex, you should inform your doctor. Laser hair removal may flare herpes simplex again. Your doctor will prescribe appropriate anti-viral before you get laser hair removal done.

Also be careful if you have any viral or bacterial skin infection. Wait till that resolves. For vitiligo patients, laser can cause more lesions. It is also true for psoriasis patients.
If you have a tendency to form keloids, talk to your doctor before undergoing this treatment. If you are taking oral isotretinoin or are using any topical retinoids, speak to your doctor before getting this treatment done.

Generally doctors want people to wait for a year after taking isotretinoin before they undergo laser hair removal. Before this treatment, you should avoid all methods of hair removal such as plucking, electrolysis or waxing.
You can consult the laser technician about use of depilatory creams and shaving before the treatment.

selecting Laser hair removal clinic

here are few tips you should read before choosing any laser clinic.
Before making up your mind for laser hair removal get detailed information on laser hair removal. Remove all your fears and concerns about the procedure.
Analyze whether you are an ideal candidate for laser hair removal if not how much you differ. Slight difference doesn't matter at all.
You should be familiar with the laser hair removal procedure. You should have full knowledge of the pre operative care and post operative care.
It is a delicate procedure involving your skin and high energy lasers, a small mistake by you or your operator may leave you scared for life. Your laser clinic should follow standard laser safety protocols with special reference to eye safety in laser hair removal. Ask if they are following some laser safety standards or not. So, you must take make sure that you are in safe hands.
It is an expensive treatment procedure considering the total cost and multiple number of visits required. You must be familiar with the laser hair removal costs and price structure to ensure that you get the right package suiting your needs.
This also highlights the fact that when you sign up for a treatment package, you should know how to get affordable laser hair removal costs. Make sure that your are not over charged and there are no hidden costs during your treatment procedure.
The laser clinic should be easily assessable because so that you can easily manage time for your laser treatments with out greatly affecting your daily schedule.
It requires considerable expertise and experience. The clinical staff should be experienced and properly trained to use the laser hair removal equipment.
Do not rush to a conclusion in haste when selecting a laser clinic. Make a visit and see for yourself how they are working and is the working environment comfortable or not.
Give importance to the customer care facilities offered by the clinic. The Botox injection works towards paralyzing the muscle that is responsible for lifting of the eyebrow, hence resulting in an eyebrow lift.

It is not always true that Botox is effective for cosmetic purposes only; they can act to reduce the amount of sweat under arms. It is also believed to be very effective for those who suffer from migraine.

The use of Botox injection for cosmetic purpose is by the best find for human mankind and the way people look has been redefined with the advent of Botox. Thanks to Botox we can now look 20 years old when we actually are 40! So if you really think that your spouse is no longer impressed by the way you look go for a Botox injection and look younger than your spouse. Botox is a tool wit with which we can hide the process of aging. Also the problems related to a surgery are reduced due to a botox treatment.

The botox is a fluid which when injected into the skin will cause the creases to disappear so the age related wrinkles on your skin will be removed with ease. The age old problems of sagging skin can be solved with the help of botox injections. Medical advice is necessary before you go for Botox treatment. Improper administration of botox can be harmful for your body. It appears in 90% of post-adolescent women and is rarely seen in men. Common but not exclusive areas where cellulite is found, are the thighs, buttocks, and the abdomen
Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not related to obesity, since it occurs in overweight, normal, and thin women.

How cellulite is formed
Edematous-fibrosclerotic panniculopathy" is a medical term used to describe cellulite. In the past decade, there has been extensive research to clarify the possible causes, and many authors agree on the following points:
Adipose cells (fat cells) swell due to fat storage.
Capillary walls become excessively permeable causing localized accumulation of fluid.
Inadequate lymphatic drainage slows the removal of excess fluid.
Adipose cells cluster and are bound by collagen fibers, which further impedes blood flow.
Connective tissue strands stiffen, pulling down on their anchor points.
The changes in blood flow, lymphatic drainage, fat, and connective tissue result in cellulite - a bumpy or dimpled appearance of the skin
Who Gets Cellulite and Where It Manifests
It's not only overweight people who get cellulite: Naturally thin women can also suffer from this problem. Mostly it manifests on the thighs and buttocks, but some people get it under their arms or on their belly. Sometimes the cellulite is visible only when the skin is pinched between the fingers, or when jogging or walking. The problem increases as one ages, thought to be due in part to the reduction of collagen and elastin that comes about as a side-effect of aging (which also explains why wrinkles develop as we get older). Indeed, according to some statistics, cellulite is a problem that affects 90% of women over the age of 30.
Cellulite Treatment
It is almost impossible to make cellulite disappear entirely. However, there are several treatments available to improve its appearance, including:
creams
wraps
exercise & diet
massage
endermologie lipomassage
laser treatment
liposuction
mesotherapy
lipodissolve
velasmooth

But how true is that, really? How different is mineral makeup versus regular makeup?Mineral-based foundations came on to the market with a big bang when the company Bare Escentuals introduced their i.d. bareMinerals makeup. Mineral foundation is essentially crushed minerals that are free of preservatives, talc, oil and fragrance. People with sensitive skin usually responds well to mineral makeup because it's made up of fewer ingredients. They do share some of the same ingredients as regular makeup though, like mica or titanium dioxide. As far as the coverage goes, it's sheer to medium depending on how many layers you buff on with a powder brush. On the plus side, it is good for all skin types because it's oil-free. In most cases, you can just use a light coverage with this makeup. Just dust a light layer over your t-zone and chin, or any other areas that are red and uneven. Even though mineral makeup may have fewer ingredients than traditional makeup, you still need to wash it off at night. During the day dirt, oil, and bacteria accumulate on the skin and need to be removed before you go to bed.
Eye makeup is also available in mineral form

Want flawless skin? How about luminous skin?

That's what the latest beauty product is touting in order to get women's attention.

Mineral makeup is in vogue at beauty counters across the country. Retailers such as Wal-Mart, CVS, Rite-Aid and Target all display the new cosmetics. The products are developed by companies ranging from Revlon, Neutrogena and Physician's Formula to Avon and Maybelline. Other brands of mineral makeup are available from various Web sites.

Is mineral makeup really all that new, though?

According to thehistoryof.net, Ancient Egyptian ladies used a cosmetic called "mesdemet." It was made of copper and lead ore, which are minerals to be sure. The idea of mineral makeup didn't stop there, however.

For many centuries, certainly from Elizabethan times through the 19th century, women tried to look pale since pallid skin showed that they were very classy and didn't have to work outside. To achieve this illusion, they used mineral makeup -- a mixture of powdered hydroxide, carbonate and lead oxide.

Oh, lead poisoning? A small price to pay for beauty.

By the late 19th century, however, women substituted the lead with zinc oxide, which probably wasn't as bad.

Today's mineral makeup is the new marketing phenomena. Yes, it does contain crushed minerals, but it does not contain, for the most part, dyes, waxes, fragrances, chemicals or preservatives. It is most often in powder form that is buffed into the skin with a fluffy brush.

Sharon Martin, director of the Stroudsburg School of Cosmetology, said that mineral makeup is free from talc, which can "build up on the skin and cause pimples, whiteheads and blackheads because talc is so thick."

Talc, of course, is a mineral, too. It is hydrated magnesium silicate. Some minerals good; some minerals, not so good, it seems.

Martin prefers Physician's Formula, which has "just come out with a new organic kind," she said. "I don't like all the heavy feeling of cream makeup. It feels dirty. The mineral powders even out my skin tone and smooth out my skin."

Martin added that companies do make mineral makeup in a cream form, but they recommend powder for sensitive skin.
Makeup lines also have compacts that look like they are made up of many colored balls. "They even out your skin tone, and don't make it look ashy," Martin said. "The makeup also evens out my red cheeks. It makes me look like I've used blush even though I haven't."
Martin added, "It is for people who want a natural look but don't want to be bothered with all the high-class nonsense."
Although mineral makeup can be pricey, Martin found that by looking for good sales, one could purchase it for a reasonable price

Considering safety

Martin recommends using a package of mineral makeup for a maximum of three to six months before discarding it because it may have bacteria growing on it after that. "You have bacteria on your skin. The bacteria gets into the brush or puff, which may contaminate the product," she said. The bacteria would make the product look clumpy or smell different. "If that happens, you should throw it out," she said.

The powder isn't at all drying, according to Martin. "My skin has never been more moist than since I've been using it," she said. Mineral makeup also contains a sun block, which further helps to protect the skin.

Articles on webmd.com note that while people who love mineral makeup do, indeed, love it, other say that it dries the skin, makes it look ashy and accentuates wrinkles.

The health Web site also provided information of concern: The idea that when minerals are ground down to their microscopic or nanoparticle size, as is the case in this makeup, they can have toxic properties if applied to damaged skin or inhaled.

Additives matter
Michelle Neifert, executive of guest experience at Target in Stroudsburg, said that Target sells the Bare Minerals makeup, which is made of crushed minerals free of talc, oil, wax and other chemicals.
"It is a light cosmetic that blends really well with your skin. It actually evens out your skin tone instead of covering it up," Neifert said.
The products, which include base powders, gleam/sheen add-ons, blushes, faux tans, concealers, as well as eye makeup and lip gloss, come in various kits with brushes, instruction books and/or DVDs to help the uninitiated get started.
Prices range from around $49 to $54. The starter kit is called "Pure Moxie."
Neifert added that the products don't make your face really dry, but it's best to use a moisturizer underneath.
"The kits have been selling very quickly," said Neifert. "On TV and online, they are very costly. Here, they are relatively inexpensive; something an everyday person can buy. The makeup lasts for a pretty long time, too."
Neifert obviously believes in her products. "I am very happy with my mineral makeup," she said. "It probably has more pigments than the cheaper cosmetics." She explained that the cheaper cosmetics use less of the pigments and more of the fillers, such as talc, oil and wax.
"Mineral makeup doesn't use these products; so the color is more intense," she said.

I don't understand brown mascara. It's just unnecessary. The point of mascara is to make your eyes stand out. Black does the trick in the best possible way. Here's a little quick trivia for you that might come up in a Trivial Pursuit game at some point. The first mascara was invented by Eugene Rimmel in the 19th century. The word "rimmel" still means mascara in French and Italian.

Early mascara was made from coal dust mixed with petroleum jelly; probably not very good for your eyes. It came in a cake form that a chemist made for his sister Mabel...which eventually became the company Maybelline. Don't you just love makeup history class? The modern form of it didn't get introduced until 1957 by the great beauty pioneer Helena Rubinstein. I don't think any of the early inventors of mascara would have come up with a brown version. So in honor of them, go with black.

The 5 Minute Beauty Makeover will help you look polished and professional but still on time for the day!

There are quick, easy steps you can take every morning that will help enhance your natural beauty. No matter what you do, if you have ten children to care for or you are a high powered attorney on the way to court, you want to look your best and probably don't have a lot of time to do so. However, most of us would find five minutes in the morning if we knew what a difference it could make. Believe me, it will make a big difference and I promise it will just take five minutes!

First, you will need to even out your skin tone. Use a light, oil-free foundation and a sponge to do so. If you have dark circles or other skin imperfections, you will need to dab a little concealer to get a flawless finish.

This step will probably take the most time so don't worry about having time run out!

Next take a light shimmer eye color and apply all over eye area and a little dab on the tear duct. This will help you look fresh, even if you were up all night with a screaming baby!

Take dark brown eyeliner, line just the top lid of the eye. Curl lashes with an eyelash curler, this will help open the eye and make you look younger. The must have step is mascara, and lots of it. Make sure to apply your mascara to the base of the lashes and "wiggle" your brush up to thicken and elongate the lashes. Apply to the bottom lashes as well.

The next step is the one most women will run out the door without...blush. Blush will help contour the face and will make you look younger. A great bronzer is perfect for this, to give you a sun kissed look.

Now before you run out the door, slap on a little lip gloss and you are perfect and ready to battle the world!

The use of dark eye makeup creates a dramatic look that is ideal for evening. Choose a black, gray, dark blue or deep purple eyeliner. Liquid liners work well, however, you can also use kohl pencil. Line just above your upper lash line, making the line slightly thicker in the center.Next line your lower lashes. Use a lighter eyeliner than you used on top. Jewel-tone plums, greens and sapphires are great choices. Powder liners and pencils work beautifully on the lower lashes. You can even use wet eyeshadow instead of liner if you prefer. Smudge the eyeliner for a smoky effect.

Apply the shadow.

Apply a light base color, such as gray, pale blue or lavender to your eyelid, stopping at the crease.Blend a darker color into the crease of the eye. Then, use an eye shadow brush to apply the same color along your lash line, softening the eyeliner. Use your brush to blend the dark color upwards toward the crease. The amount of dark color you apply is up to you. The darker you go, the more smoky and dramatic your eyes will look. Use a cotton swab to touch up your eye makeup and blend the color to ensure both eyes look the same.

Finish with mascara.

Curl your eyelashes using an eyelash curler.
