This weekend will make one month since I two-strand twisted my hair to start my locks.

I'm thinking that it will be mostly locked by Dec. :fingers crossed:

My oldest sister Sereda put some cute beads into my hair

ChiChi came to visit me at my job

and of course I started laughing during the photo

Then we went to TacoMac and ordered a little of everything the next night lol.

then little Robin and I had a dinner date :]

We had such a great time.. haven't seen her in forever..

And this is where I am with my hair now. It isn't horribly frizzy yet.. but thats because I have yet to wash it. Tomorrow is my hair wash day and im sure it'll be nice and frizzy then lol..

OH! Anyone that knows me, always take notice to my nails.. I have a serious nail polish collection

This nail polish changes colors in the sun!

Got it from Urban Outfitters for freakin TEN dollars.. at least its cool though lol.

I've been trying to post more but Blogspot sucks. I would like to which to wordpress (I think) but I dont wanna lose my blog posts? I will figure this out in the near future..

I adopted a Siamese/Ragdoll kitten today!

He is quite the ball of energy and VERY talkative

-- of course his name is Meteor because of that nose :]

Its gonna be interesting to see this cool kitty grow up.. I wonder if he will be more like a Siamese, or a Ragdoll? If you don't know about either of these breeds, just watch the two youtube videos below!

New Chapter: HAIR

So I've been natural for 7 years.. the short stage was so brief because my hair grew so fast. I've done every hairstyle (except for straightening it) up, down, twistouts, twisted, afro, braided, dyed it so many colors... so what now?

My hair just keeps growing.. and I'm ready for something NEW. I've been tempted to chop it off again.. but I figured, since I have so much hair maybe I should let it grow for now.

But.. I've been seeing lots of long pretty braids, I'd like to have those but I know good and well I'm not gonna put weave in my hair. I'd much rather grow my own hair.
I'm thinking about locking it for some years, just to say that I experienced having locks.
(I know your mouth dropped lol..)
Some people are already telling me no just because they dont like them lol.. People have such a negative view on them.. I don't understand why really.. its just HAIR! Others are just gonna miss my big hair.. As I will tooooo :tear: lol I can grow another one though!

side note: Most people that know me are all for it :] --aside from that, had I listened to everyone telling me what to do with my hair, I wouldnt even be natural today!

I keep going back and forth trying to talk myself out of it.. but I'm sure I do want to experience this, and I become more and more sure when I see photos like these:

This will just be another chapter of my hair, I'm sure I will cut the locks after some years of growing them.. but for now, I will let my hair grow.

My one lock that I've had for the past year needs some company lol

The first time I took his jazz dance class.. we started with the warm up and I said to myself

"This man can MOVE! YEEEES!" lol

His spirit is sooo bright, he's full of life...

and all of that is enhanced even more so when you see how he dances.

He is certainly going through a rough patch with his health.. which is saddening, but he doesn't need the weight of emotions from people surrounding him to be negative.

So instead, I will be uplifting :]

Justin, you know how much I love getting my LIFE in your class lol it was so humbling to know that you saw something special in me when I danced.. it meant the world to me and motivated me more than ever to practice harder in my jazz technique.

I've been too busy working lately, but I'm starting to make more time for it..

--with that being said, with every grande battement, every pirouette (no less than a double honey... ow!), every jazz walk, and each, and every pointed toe...

I will be dancing with you in mind

Hopefully I can channel some of your technique too lol

with LOVE.

Hurry up and get better... you have dance classes to teach and people to train ;]

If you have not watched the YouTube video (unedited) a link will be at the very bottom. You Tube pulled it, but of course others have footage now.

This situation doesn't surprise me, I've heard other celebs talk about how commonly things are molded into a new idea and/or concept without their permission.
--Something else that I've taken notice to when reading these tweets. This generation is so negatively over-sexed to the point that when skin is showed.. sex is all that is thought of or they instantly frown upon the person because it's "not right" in their eyes.
(just as the idiots that have a problem with women breastfeeding their young in public... buuuut thats a whole different story!)
So many people tweeted Erykah saying things like "Stop taking off your clothes" "You wanted to be a whore by taking off your clothes" "What did you think was going to happen by taking off your clothes" I quote.
Nude is Natural. She had no problem with that...

@waynecoyne then... perhaps, next time u get an occasion to work with an artist who respects your mind/art, you should send at least a ROUGh version of the video u PLAN to release b4 u manipulate or compromise the artist's brand by desperately releasing a poor excuse for shock and nudity that sends a convoluted message that passes as art( to some).
Even with Window Seat there was a method and thought process involved. I have not one need for publicity . I just love artistic dialogue . And just because an image is shocking does not make it art. You obviously have a misconception of who I am artistically.

First:
You showed me a concept of beautiful tasteful imagery( by way of vid text messages) .
I trusted that. I was mistaken.
Then u release an unedited, unapproved version within the next few days.
That all spells 1 thing ,

When asked what the concept meant after u explained it , u replied ,"it doesn't mean anything , I just want to make a great video that everyone is going to watch. "
I understood , because as an artist we all desire that. But we don't all do it at another artist's expense . I attempted to resolve this respectfully by having conversations with u after the release but that too proved to be a poor excuse for art.

You begged me to sit in a tub of that other shit and I said naw. I refused to sit in any liquid that was not water. But Out of RESPECT for you and the artist you 'appear' to be, I Didn't wanna kill your concept , wanted u to at least get it out of your head . After all, u spent your dough on studio , trip to Dallas etc.. Sooo, I invited Nayrok , my lil sis and artist, who is much more liberal ,to be subject of those other disturbing (to me ) scenes . I told u from jump that I believed your concept to be disturbing. But would give your edit a chance. You then said u would take my shots ( in clear water/ fully covered parts -seemed harmless enough) and Nayrok's part ( which I was not present for but saw the photos and a sample scene of cornstarch dripping ) and edit them together along with cosmic, green screen images ( which no one saw) then would show me the edit. .

Instead, U disrespected me by releasing pics and rough vid on the internet without my approval. (Contract breech )
That is equivalent to putting out a security camera's images of me changing in the fitting room. I never would have approved that tasteless, meaningless, shock motivated video . Our art is a reflection of who we are . I have no connection to those images shot in their raw version. I was interested in seeing an amazing edit that would perhaps change or alter my thoughts . Never happened . You also did the same thing with the song itself which displays crappy "rough "vocals by me . I let it go , perhaps iiiii was missing something, I thought.
I Should have followed my first mind back in studio when recording the vocals "your way".
( Red flag.) It was uncomfortable.
For that I am at fault .
Consequently, brother, As a human I am disgusted with your what appears to be desperation and poor execution. And disregard for others . As a director I am unimpressed . As a sociologist I understand your type. As your fellow artist I am uninspired. As a woman I feel violated and underestimated.

By the way I have guested in very few videos. But I have always been given the opportunity to see the edit and contribute to it when my roll is substantial. Not this time . O, And on behalf of all the artists u have manipulated or plan to manipulate, find another way .
These things have been said out of necessity.

Natural Hair- The Transition

So many people don't understand how much of a big deal being "natural" is. This isn't about not dying the hair different colors (as many try to argue) but it's about being able to wear your natural TEXTURE and being 110% comfortable! For those that are curious: I started growing out my permed hair when I was 17. My mother would not let me go natural like my older sisters had done until I was "of age" (makes no sense.. I know) sooo I told myself that during the age of 18 I would chop my hair off. I loved the change!-- not only that but it was RARE to see other black naturals at that point. It's a beautiful thing that so many ladies have gotten inspired to go back to their natural roots.. we are moving forward :]

To start my amazing birthday, Ayan took me to this super cool restaurant called Escorpion..
talk about good stuuuff!!

FIRST OF ALL: I do not even drink, yet this woman was tryin ta get me loooose lol.

I made myself take a few sips and it was just too much for me lol

hence, why I dont drink :] She had no problem finishing it lol

We ordered a few things and shared it all :] octopus, fish tacos, and fruit salad which was spicy!

I went shopping for once lol.. mingled with old buddies from Savannah, created more Love, and danced the night away

Tomorrow will be 1 week since my big 25th birthday.. and I couldnt ask for more.
