I was like 4 or 5 when these two videos came out!

Yet I do remember these songs playing in the car all the time, my mother singing these songs through the house, me being IN LOVE with the video for "I am every Woman" because there were little girls MY AGE dancing in the video -- me and my cousins would do all of the dances lol.

Whitney Houston was one of the originals with such an amazingly huge voice that everyone loved.

She is one of the ones that helped pave the way for many singers that we listen to now.

"I am very disturbed by the disrespect and ignorance I have seen regarding black history/black history month. Yes, I am black. No, I am not disturbed only because I am black. It is such a shame that Americans do not know what black people in this country went through and continue to go through. Racism will never end bec...ause the racist infrastructure keeps people ignorant-by choice. We learn about all these insignificant people and dates in U.S. history class from 1st grade to first year of college, but never once is Angela Davis, Tubman or Malcolm X or Phyllis Wheatley, DuBois, Carmicheal, Gordon Parks, Booker T, Douglas, and there are sooo many more. How can you have compassion for a people that you have no understanding of the HELL they endured coming to this country and then for centuries thereafter? I want to blame the educational system, but I cannot anymore. Adults in this technological age must take full responsibility for the ignorance they participate in. We walk around with encyclopedias in our pockets everyday. Educate yourself on something other than who some celebrity is divorcing or what some chick wore to some awards ceremony that has NO impact on your reality. Teach your children where they came from so that they can UNDERSTAND the problems we face today in our society. The first thing a psychologist or doctor does is get a history on a patient. It's real hard to diagnose or treat a patient without it. A culture/society is no different..it's just bigger and a lot more complicated. This government ACTIVELY KILLED and tortured peaceful black and white leaders that believed in equality. This government ALLOWED thousands of innocent black children, men and women to be killed publicly and privately for the sheer enjoyment and display of hatred by white america before , during and AFTER formal slavery. This COUNTRY actively destroyed the culture, traditions, and family structure of black people....YET still WE RISE, AND YES I am PROUD. I think EVERYONE that calls themself an "American" SHOULD BE proud. Everyone that claims to love this country because this country would not be what it is without BLACK people, and the other peoples of color that worked tirelessly day in and day out and gave their lives (voluntarily and involuntarily) in the white mans wars where countless innocent people were killed as well. (yes, I said it) Our (and I mean AMERICAN) struggles, hardships, and our history is what defines who we are. It can not and should not be ignored or diluted down to a superficial month of commercials and movie showings on TBS. It should be integrated into our daily discussions ...into our curriculum..This is so upsetting. Racism and voluntary ignorance is unpatriotic. Let's talk about that." -Alex Bodkin

I just saw it this morning myself, nor did I watch the game.. but my twitter timeline was going wild when Madonna was performing (whom I love by the way).

I heard the good, the bad, the funny comments, and even the ones saying it was a "ritual"

I mean Greek dressed soldiers, horns on heads, dressed in all black, Egyptian costumes and mimicking Egyptian dancing..... interesting interesting performance to say the least lol and that's all I will say!

So when I found out from twitter that WilldaBEAST and his girlfriend Janelle Ginestra were gonna be teaching here in atlanta, I just KNEW I had to come out and take the class. --If you're a dancer.. you certainly know these two from youtube

Unfortunately... Janelle wasn't able to make it :[ but the class was still beyond amazing!!

As a lot of you know (if you follow me on twitter) I havent taken a dance class in sooo long because of my crazy work schedule, but I wanted this class to be my intro back into the dance scene :]

So the GOOD NEWS is that he did pick me once at the end

the BAD NEWS is that I am SOOOO OUT OF SHAPE lmao

Duuuude I was shaking and on the verge of fainting, but I didn't quit without a fight!! I started falling apart and I'm glad he didnt post that lol --- of course I was out of the cameras way when I was doing good in the beginning... I get camera shy lol
The energy was something serious, my dance friends worked it :]

I woke up and told myself that I MUST wash my hair today. My hair and skin certainly aren't fans of winter weather. Dry, dry, and more DRY. Thank goodness for shea butter lol.

So here I am with lots of conditioner and a combed out afro

And after giving my hair a nice trim back in Nov., I'm back to chest length (and my tired 8am face lol)

In the first photo, you can see a little of how much my lock has grown.. I will show that another time :]

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!!!

Over the next couple of days... theres gonna be a lot of new/er photos, so lets start with random old ones!

5 year old Vanisha lol

My best guy friend in high school Allen Chau ! He posted this collage of photos on facebook a few days ago and I was like "OH MY GOODNESS" lol.. I'm so glad I got rid of that hair haha.. I was like 15 in these and so awkward and still could never fit in at school lol!

This was like 5 years ago, I was in love with my new red hair.. I need that back :]

this is from 2008 .. little wash&go afro lol

I had a horrible obsession with earrings. I put keys on these.. and this was back when no one was doing anything different lol

I remember going to school like this and people were making fun of my style! lol

17 year old me.. straight hair and no facial piercings!? shocking to see... trust me, I know lol.

my mother wouldn't let me cut my hair until i was of age. so during the year of being 18... i cut it. lol

but relaxed or not, I was still the weird girl haha.

I was 17 here..

ugh I fell in love with my hair when I cut it, I still can't believe i had such short hair with my head being THIS BIG!? --but somehow it worked lol.

my rule with short natural hair: ALWAYS WEAR EARRINGS because, without them I felt like I looked like a boy lol.

everyone always asks if I've ever straightened my hair while being natural, well this was the FIRST and ONLY time lol. I did it myself: I washed, conditioned, used a blow dryer, flat iron, then a curling iron lmao

..and guess how long that hairstyle lasted? not even an HOUR! my afro said "Nope, you're stuck with me for life" hahahaa

I was wearing these cool hairstyles before they were even cool lol.

As much as I couldnt understand WHY anyone would pay this much for headphones, I now see why.. because if you buy all of the cheap earbuds (like me) they ALWAYS break and have a very short life span

Dude I bought a pair that broke during the same day that I purchased them! lol seriously..

So now I've been all over beatsbydre.com looking at the different styles. If I get a pair.. they certainly wont be earbuds lol. The SOLO style seems right, apparently they're considered to be an "on ear" fit.. I have small ears so I'm assuming theyd be perfect for me.

its a holiday thats wrapped around the WRONG idea. Although, this video is very funny to me (thanks to niclaos for posting)... but just look at how completely dramatic some of them act when receiving something that they did not ask for.

I absolutely despise hearing people complain about what they got or how many gifts they were given.. be happy that someone even thought about your behind.

Lets learn to GIVE despite holidays, cause these bs days really don't even mean anything lol they're just lies made up to make us spend money.

Today at 3am my grandmother passed away. My father's mother. We've had a little time to try and prepare for this yet of course theres only so much preparing that one can do. I don't like saddening situations as this, so I wont be sad for her, there's no need to be. Sure it's a saddening situation.. more so because she's got 8 children and sooo many grandchildren.. but she's on the brighter side of everything now:

no more Alzheimers, no more living in a nursing home, no more stress.

she lived a long life and now she is free..

once again. at least I was able to make myself NOT throw up.. which was super hard. --but I wish I could make my belly stop aching :[

I woke up at 3:30am with a horrid stomach ache, then got up 3 more times within that same hour.

sucks.

guess I will be keeping away from certain seafoods for a period of time. not because I'm afraid, but because I completely lose my appetite just thinking about how sick it has gotten me in the past.

So for now, I will be stuck with ginger ale and soup...

Today, while having Thanksgiving dinner at a close friends place... a ladybug landed on the ceiling right above my head..

This is no coincident

His mother said "A Ladybug in your home means good luck"

I've been seeing so many ladybugs everywhere, and I'm sure theres a message to be taken from it all.
I have them in my new place too.
