Live Free or Twihard: things I learned from Supernatural

I recently watched the latest episode of Supernatural entitled Live Free or Twihard, the 5th episode of season 6. I made a recap about it HERE.

It goes without saying that it is a mockery of the Twilight series a lot of adults, young adults, teen, tweens and even toddlers love. Please don't put a target on my forehead, I watched the movies (dozen times), read Twilight the series(twice!), even the unfinished draft of the Midnight Sun and the Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, for real! I am not purely against phenomenon, but I am against people going overboard being a fanatic. This episode of Supernatural, does not only opens us to the gothic side of the vampires, also a reality check: vampires are dangerous. Moreover, this episode shares the viewpoint of how predators can fish their prey over the Internet (a la Criminal Minds), and how these fanatics can mindlessly be caught in their trap.

Well relating this topic too Davao, as a Davaoena, I love to watch Supernaturals. (Click here for the reasons). Also, there are a lot of Twilight fans in Davao. I hope they would not be fooled and preyed on by this predators that will possibly harm them, just because of poetry, gothic, emo appeal they have. I'm not stereotyping, just giving some precautions.

THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) is set to go on full alert today and will implement a liquor ban tomorrow in preparation for Monday’s barangay and youth council elections.

Police Director Benjamin Belarmino, the PNP’s Deputy Chief for Operations and head of Task Force Honest, Orderly, Peaceful Elections (HOPE), said the 130,000-strong PNP will go on full alert on Saturday 8:00 a.m. He said the liquor ban will be implemented starting 12 midnight of Sunday.

A full alert means all PNP personnel will stay at their posts at all times. All leaves by police officers are also cancelled.

Belarmino also said the PNP will monitor closely a total of 2655 barangays considered as election hotspots around the country. The country has a total 42,025 barangays.

Belarmino said the hotspots are located in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and Region 12. Also considered as hotspots are barangays in Masbate province in Region 5 and Abra in the Cordillera region.

To Lose or To Loose

If there’s a secret to turning things to anything but extraordinary, it’s the prefix attached to ordinary making it extraordinary- extra. Extra mile. Extra effort. Extra time. Say what? Even words themselves tell their own stories. The trick lies on basic deciphering and a bit of trying not to appear profound and wise. New miserable experiences teach the mind not to be too lax of things that were. Just when it thought that its beholder was past through it, think again. Stop the strut. Slow the swagger.

Like subtle recurrences of any form of cancer, the body seem to slur these ‘subtle’ changes. Little did it know, the progression is at rage. The body will soon become frail, and then comes the end of it all. Too little too late. Like rants. Oh yes! these are rants. Self-help, desperate rants. And it’s funny how they always find their way towards the subconscious when crises concerning them arise. A few of mine are as follows:

DAY1:

My basic assumption on defining “smart” relies on the person’s ability to use ‘lose’ and ‘loose’ correctly. Easy trick. And sensible. Sure it falls short of standards, and of large personal bias. But hey, don’t worry it’s just a very personal assumption, learned through time.Worry comes after not knowing that there’s always nothing to loose LOL.

And there goes the start of a 9-day rant…

Surf's up at Dahican, Mati, Davao Oriental

The City of Mati is roughly five to six hours away from Davao City. I had the opportunity to visit the place and had seen firsthand the majestic spots of this blooming city. One of the many places to visit there is Brgy Dahican, where the white sandcovers the beach and giant waves conquer the sea. http://www.mati.gov.ph/

Dahican is simple albeit breathtaking. One can have a good time surfing or even just retreating and relaxing. Before letting yourself be devoured by the waves, make sure to prepare a tent (for the adventurous ones) or reserve a room from a nearby resort or hotel as Dahican is still to be developed. There are still a lot of places to go and discover in Mati, hopefully, Davao Life, will be able to share it with you in the future.
