I just recently saw a press release for a new comic book series called Undying Love. Talk about a kick to the stomach. Many years ago I created the EXACT same comic series. This series is about a hitman that falls in love with a vampire and does everything in his power to cure her. My series was going to be about a Vampire hitman that turns a girl into a vampire in order to SAVE her. Personally I thought my idea was more original, but that's the breaks. If only I had pitched it first. Oh well, maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

It got me thinking about all the other times I had come up with a idea only to have some other person do the same thing before I had the chance to do it. Fringe is a perfect example. I was working on a story called Welcome to Utopia. It was about a scientist that does into a alternate universe. I mean there's many differences between this and Fringe, but the basic premise is there. Without a lot of thinkering I don't think my story won't get compared to Fringe if it's every released.

Dream Reavers gave me a lot of trouble as well. The basic plot was a lot like Inception, so I had to make a quick dash and slash and change up the storyline very heavily. I'm hoping the final product isn't hurt by that.

Then there's Top Cow's Cross hair. I wrote a story for myself called Trigger, which is basically the same story as that top cow series.

I'm sure this happens to a lot of writers. Personally I hate when that happens. I feel like I missed the boat all those times. Hopefully I'll catch it some time soon.

So far me and Dave have meshed pretty well together. He translated all the early sketches I did and adapted it to his style to a tee. Even the panel work he did was exactly as I envisioned it. Kudos.

"First up is the U.F.O. anthology. As of this writing, there are two complete stories up, and a third one almost completed. The as yet unfinished story, Life is Funny, (by Chris Beckett and Jason Copland,) is pretty damn harrowing so far. By comparison, Anything For You, (by Elton Pruitt and Brandon Palas,) is a bit more lightweight, although the ending is good for a chuckle. I also liked the old-school feel of Anthony Peruzzo’s colors. But it’s Angst, (by Raphael Moran and Atul Bakshi,) that really won me over. This ode to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS is a lot of fun, is drawn to perfection, and has an outstanding ending worthy of THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

So in all it’s a bit of a mixed bag, but all anthologies eventually are. So far though, this is less of a mixed bag than others. I’m especially interested in seeing more art from Bakshi and Copland, and I can’t wait to see how much creepier these stories can get."

Back from nycc.

Maybe it's just me, but the NYCC is getting bigger and bigger every year. It's still not as big as SDCC...but who knows maybe some day. I met a alot of old friends, made some new ones. Next year I'm hoping to show off at least one of my projects for everyone to see.
