It's becoming more and more apparent that the CIA actively engaged in a decades long cover up of what they really knew about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Was the purpose of that cover up merely to avoid damage to their own reputation for failing to inform the FBI & Secret Service of information that may have saved the life of President Kennedy or was there something much more sinister going on like their own rogue agents and contractors being involved in a murder for hire and/or a conspiracy to commit murder. Whichever may be the case, one thing is for certain, G. Robert Blakey was played like a sucker and the CIA still hasn't told America the entire truth.

In the wake of the Civil Rights Movement of the 20th Century, Racism & other forms of discrimination are not so easy to spot these days, but it still exists. Alabama Lawyer Fred Gray who defended Rosa Parks once commented that racism is no longer overt, but covert & insidious in its nature. It has turned from yelling the infamous N word & breaking ribs to denying credit and breaking bank accounts. In my commentary on Legal Schnauzer, I suggest that the Ku Klux Klan has traded their white robes for black robes because the sons & grandsons of the sharecroppers & factory workers who once made up the KKK have graduated from college and they have gone to work as judges and college professors where they deny opportunities to Blacks, other minorities & the Poor White Man.

Ms. Park ultimately sued Countrywide, which serviced the mortgage that was foreclosed on, and sued mortgage owner, Deutsche Bank. Ms. Park argued Countrywide wasn't responsive to the Damons' efforts to resolve the foreclosure. The suit was settled when the Uxbridge couple got their refinanced mortgage from the WCU.

The true test of how brilliant & authoritative an appellate court decision is evidenced by how often it is cited by experienced lawyers. You won't find Alabama Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker's decision in ExxonMobil Corp. v. Alabama Department of Conservation (2007) [which was really written by my law school professors John Eidsmoe & Henry Fowler] cited very often because it truly is bad law. The ore tenus presumption was completely ignored along with two jury verdicts resting on some very sound facts that proved fraud on the part of Exxon.

The Supreme Court ruled in November 2007 that for the State to be awarded $3.5 billion in punitive damages relating to a fraud claim regarding disputed contractual royalty fees, the State had to prove 1) the defendant had a duty to disclose material facts that 2) were concealed or not disclosed by the defendant, which 3) induced the plaintiff to act 4) to the plaintiff's injury, resulting 5) in actual damage to the plaintiff. On this burden the State failed on multiple grounds, necessitating the reversal of the punitive damages; the State still collected compensatory damages owed to it.

As they put pressure on a local capitalist, The Gadsden Times staff of that era backed them up. In the 21st Century, we can bank on the fact that all of our local "men" who are retired from the government & government contractors would rush to shut down such a movement because it would be "bad for business." TV media outlets led by Fox News would have stories ready to run on the evening news to discredit the movement. Local employers would fire a couple of the organizers to warn the rest of the people away from supporting any group that might threaten the profits of a businessman.

Many Gadsden residents attended a mass meeting at the Courthouse in January 1901 to discuss the city ordinance requiring electric street cars to be equipped with fenders. The law had caused the Gadsden and Attalla Union Railway Company to suspend all operations of the car line in Gadsden, Attalla, and Alabama City.
