龍螃蟹海鮮王

2012 Jan 2nd, 我們去吃了龍螃蟹海鮮王，本來同是朋友都說去新加坡一定要去吃無招牌海鮮，但是我朋友Audrey recon this is better, so here we are.

While we were there, I can phiscally see a queue there, so if that is in Taiwan, it indicates it is either popular or really delicious one. So of course we waited for a while, about 1 hour in the queue. But something different with Taiwan, when your turn, it doesn't mean you can have your dinner in 30 mins or shorter. That means we had waited another 1 hours for waiting our fresh food to be served.

Luckily, the foods are really good, probably I don't have it quite often in Taiwan. Anyhow, we ordered 奶油米粉螃蟹湯、辣椒螃蟹，炸豆腐、風流雞(I named it 泰式椒麻雞，因為很像)、炸麵包、麥片蝦。They are all good, 不枉費我們花了那麼多時間在排隊&等待，一切都是值得低。

我覺得麥片蝦、辣椒螃蟹在台灣比較不常見，所以我絕得很新鮮也很特別，尤其是麥片蝦，厚重的麥片把蝦子給整個蓋住，吃起來喀滋喀茲的響，good!!

有blog說可以事先訂位，我新加坡的朋友試過了，不行！要到現場排隊，所以她們現在不接受電話訂位了!!

I am not trying to talk Mirlion Park again, I would like to focus on the scene behine the statue: The Fullerton Hotel, Financial buildings...

As per my understanding, The Fullerton Hotel is formely General Post Office, The Singapore Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Now it turns to a luxary hotel in Singapore.

Those buildings where behind or next to The Fullerton Hotel, mostly are the major financial institution in the world, such as HSBC, PWC, Maybank...If you head to Robinson Road further, you will see J.P Morgan, Cisco, some other foreign investment banking locate in this area.

Thus, it makes me feel this area is the centre of financial area, just like Wall street in NY, Canary Wharf in London, aint it!

Hello Singapore

Hello Singapore, sure while you see the photo here, you definitely know I am in Singapore right now.

Headed to Merlion Park is actually not that far, it tool me about 30mins walk way not inculde the return which means it took me around an hour to be there and back to my hotel. People may say: What?! lol...seriously, it is not that hard and crazy, just follow the Robinson Road and then turn right, go straight down, you will see the Park.

I intended to go to Marina Bay Sands yesterday, but when I see the Merlion Park, I changed my plan and decided to go there and took photos, obviously that is much attractive to me lah :)

Marina Bay Sands, one of the famous building in Singapore, they got a highest swimming pool in the world, and it cost you if you don't live in the hotel. Moreover, you can just dress causal and wanna walk in to Casino, I think that is prohibited.

I will carry on post more as much as I can, obviously Singapore is a really small city, so I shall discover the city during my long stay :)

HK 美食天堂??

A lot of people and tourists or blogger recommend HK is a place with a lot of lovely food. I quite agree partial, to be quite frankly.

Before we went to HK, I didn't do many homework on it, I even asked my colleagues where to eat? show me something really good and local goes to as well. Therefore, she listed few places to me, and I did actually google it and print out from goolge map. How fascinating...

First, we went to 添好運, as you can see below images, a lot of people still wait outside even pass the lunch time around 2 hrs. A gentle reminder, you must take the number ticket before you left, we came late, so we didn't get that chance to take the ticket first, so while we were waiting there, quite a few people went back to the restaurant, well..you know what happened next, they got the priority...so don't forget to ask for the ticket number.

Below 2 images are the sweet shop or you can say something can cool you down...We came to first place randomly, just becuase of we wanna cool down ourselves, it was too heat in HK indeed. (It was alright, not that perfect, but OK)

However, the second shop was different, you need to pick up the ticket number and wait the waiter call you. As mentioned above, and please bear in mind that as long as a place need to take the ticket number, that should worth to give a try. Why we know this place? We ask local and ask them to show us, I have to say HK people really not very good at speaking Chinese, comon, if you are making your money from these Chinese, how come you don't speak their language, at least try to say something la...

再興燒臘, this is the one my colleague introduce to me and also the one and the only we had taste in HK. Hence, I don't have any other comparison to provide. But I think majority of Taiwanese feel that the lunch box they offer are quite different with Taiwan's style. I recon this is the big difference.

By the way, this is alright...again, although the time we arrived they were about to close the shop...

Lan Kwai Fong Music & Beer Fest

Luckily we met Lan Kwai Fong musci & beer Fest during our stay. Sure we went for it and participate the competition: Drink Beer. Well...sure you see a lot of competition everywhere and people make fun of that.

My friend whom joined the game and she is really good although she couldn't win the Champion , still got the second place in the end, more importantly she represent Taiwan team....lol

After girls, now about men VS men, I was there of course, but unfortunately I lost as well, this is because an American dude drunk 1 pine in a sec, everyone was really surprise and wow wow wow...It just like you drink the water.....go straight down to your stomach....really amazing.

In the end of day, we won 2 T-shirts, England squad football T-shirts... not that bad...A good ending :)

香港中環

香港 1997年中國共產黨說香港50年不變~~表象看起來是不變啦~~霓虹燈依舊! 看中環就知道了，五光十色的霓虹燈妨彿就像是香港永遠燦爛~

但是旅遊品質呢?? 我覺得已經不如以往了~該說是大陸客去香港遊玩拉低了整體的Quality嗎??或是其中一項變因。畢竟每天在香港遊竄的人真的太多了，還記得幾年前第一次去香港玩，感覺很舒服，因為人不是那麼多，玩得很盡興。

如今的HK，滿街的觀光客，尤其來自祖國，更顯得人滿為患。不知道是不是我的感受而已，我覺得去香港說中文反而會受到一些不禮遇的對待，但是若是開口說英文或是口音來自Taiwan的話，態度就截然不同了~~不知道大家是否也有這樣的感受呢??

但是不可否認的，香港積極開發拓展旅遊特色，如米其林餐廳、香港迪士尼遊樂園等等，吸引世界各地的遊客前來一探究竟，這倒是值得台灣觀光局去學習的!

Westfield in London

Westfield opened in late 2010, it says it is the largest department store in the Europe, but while I was there, I would probably agree with this slogan, this is really huge. Westfield also has the largest M&S, GAP in here, also when you feel tired, there are quite a few options for you to choose, but mostly from South European, such as Italy food, Greece and so on, so it really depends on you if you like it or not.

In fact, we have been coming here couple times, not only it got all the high street shops in there but also it offers us a relax place, we can do shopping, find a restaurant, apple shop, even though the cinema still not ready yet when we left the country. That is a shame indeed.

However, it doesn't matter, especially we came more often after we got our car and it only took us probably 15 mins drive way if no traffic..lol anyhow, it is more convenience, otherwise we usually went to Westfield by Bus and u know what, it tooks us an hour to be there, which means it also took us another hour for return, so it is really time consuming in this case.

As far as I know, there might be another Westfield in East London, oh....maybe it is already opened, so don't forget to go both shops :)

Sassoon in London

In London, you could be able to find anything, cos this place got everything here from all over the world. Fashion, Financial, Salon, etc.

Today, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you all Sassoon.

However, Sassoon could be distinguished to 3 different parts, one for creative style, one for school training purpose, the last one is kinda free style, i recon. In fact, when I first entered Sassoon, I went to wrong place, this is because the designer looked at my hair and touched it, then asked me what did I need from them? Well, what should I say to her? I simply say I wanna cut my hair with normal style, I personally don't prefer really creative, forward style, that is not me. Then she told me I got the wrong place after she heard what I really want.

So, we left that place and continue find the one we need. We found that place after all I got new hair style, during that time, I had a chat with designer and then I realized most of them are all designers in their countries, and the reason they come over here is because of they keen to learn more skills from other the people and bring them back to their home town. I think the purpose is really good, motive themselves keep learning new skills and update and share their experience and know how.

I think Sassoon offer the place and brand in order to attract some talent designers and people whom are interested in this industry, not only promote their products but also build up their reputation and good name, on the other hand, these designers are like us whom are working on master degree. and they do their degree in Sassoon.

Bravo...

Bicester Village

這一個月光是Bicester就去了兩次~~而且Bicester現在蓋了一個立體停車場整個MALL變超大店家超多

有GUCCI, D&G, TOD, BOSS 還有ARMANI...是還不錯!!

但是和往常不同的是我們是開車去之前是坐火車再走路/接駁車等等

現在在英國很夯的superdry 聽說台灣也有了且價格一點都不親民不過在outlet價格可親民多了!

雖然非假日但是人潮還是很多我有注意到尤以產油國家&祖國人民居多

他們真的是快狠準雙手滿滿的名牌貨~~

消費力很驚人 :)

海洋博物館

Well, this is not my first time to visit National Museum of Marin Biology animal, when the museum starts running, we are quite exciting, because not only we can have one high quality museum in South of Taiwan but also it gives us an opportunity to learn a lot of animals where they are not easy to be found or seen in our daily life.

Of course, to have their own style and design are necessary, otherwise how do they appeal the tourists cross all the regions. They have a giant Whale in front of the main building, many of kids love love having fun in the middle of water pool, as you can see below or above, to be honest, the weather is too good caused people rather play water to chill than walk into the museum later on...

However, despite of the big pool in front of the main entrance, it wows you when you really walk into it, I am not uploading any photos here, if you are interested in, please do feel free go to Ping Tong and have a look, trust me, you will not regret your decision, although I know it is really far...still worth it!!

I think we are luck because we were living in KH so it is not that far for us, we even rode our scrooter to there, probably 100 kms, I recon...so shall be alright...lol

Missed the flight

Unbelievable, we missed the flight!!

Can you believe that? We missed the flight when we headed back to Taiwan. This was crazy, when we walked into HK airport and waiting to enter the gate, probably in the middle of the passport checking area, no shit, crowded with people who were also leaving HK and went home respectively. But, honestly, there were so many people stucked there and awaiting pass thru the gate. Unlucky we didn't make it in the end. Actually, our boarding time was 13.30 HK time and the time we arrived was 13.00 HK time, then we stuck in the passport checking gate around 20mins, after passing the gate, we ran ran ran ran to the boarding gate as soon as we can, but still didn't catch it!

Wow...how embarrassing, I mean, I never thought it will happen to me some day, cos it wasn't an option when I travel...

Well, let's take it as an unforgettable memory and we can make fun some day in the future...missed your flight...haha

Oxford

While I was in the UK, got quite a few opportunities to visit Oxford, a great and historical city. The most famous is of course Oxford University.

Hundreds years university caused a lot of tourists come to here and have a look at this place, but I personally feel if you see a series of such place, you might feel bored soon, cos for me they are just Oxford, Cambridge...blabla...means I didn't get any spark during my visiting, I think it is a shame for majority people, but it is also a truth.

In the meantime, I have to say, a lot of people from around the world come to here and visit the city, simply because of the university, ain't it? Or else, what do we know about Oxford? Unlike Cambridge, William is named Duke of Cambridge recently and his wife Kate came to Duchess of Cambridge, so what do Oxford has? For a foreigner, honest, I don't know~~

First time left the country

I think everything still seems new to me, back in 8 or 9 years ago, this was our first time left the country, went cross the boarder to Thailand.

At that time, Phuket seems to be the most popular and first in mind when we settled down our travel plan. In fact, we even called it was our "graduate trip". This is normal when Taiwanese students nearly finish their uni, we do something in order to celebrate this things. So as young students like us, we were not in the exception list as well :)

I still remember we have planned it for a while and save the money, like all the uni student do for their adventure. But back in that timing, I think the word call "backpacker" ain't that popular in Taiwan, as I think Taiwanese still don't know what is that out of the world, and still believe this is not safe, how silly?!

Nowadays, people change, of course I change, I have been away Taiwan more than 3 years ago with my dear, we stay together, play together, fight together...now we are going to stick together soon, so hopefully I will be continuing post blogs to ppl whom love my blog.

Flora Expo 2011

Well, I guess I didn't say the Flora Expo 2011 starts now and until April 25th.

Although there are four different parks nearby, well...maybe a little bit far and long distance, if you walk...I wouldn't advise you to do so unless you insist. In fact, there is a shuttle bus and take you to 4 different parks. Say, you are in Yuanshan park, and now you are heading museum park/Fine Art museum of Taipei, you don't necessary have to walk to there, instead you can take the bus, it is really convenience. More important thing it is FREE! so why not take the shuttle bus...

In addition, the bus route basically connect all the parks, for example: From Yuanshan park to Dajia park but also via museum park.

Hence, next time, just follow the travel info/instruction or bus route guideline, pick up any of the bus and then enjoy your discovery of flora expo in Taipei.

Flora Expo in Taipei 2011

Despite of the scandal of the Flora Expo, let's leave politics behind and watch the flowers.

However, this time I went with my friend whom works in a giant OEM company based in Taiwan, China. They have a kind of charity thing there and offer a lot of charity foundation come to join them, as a result why we were there!

The flowers are pretty lovely, and the scenes are awesome as well. However, the worst thing of that day was too many people and people queue everywhere, guess it is because all of their employee came out from the office and factories, especially when I watched the tourist info dashboard, the total of tourist of that day is nearly 62,000 but the overall employee appeared in that day was 45,000. Woo....that's the key fact :)

In addition, it was chilly, the sun was hiding in somewhere I don't know. Otherwise, I believe that day should be more interesting not just waiting there for our food and watch the show and we can at least enjoy these beautiful flowers. Who don't like it? yeah??

Maybe we can try next time when there is a lovely weather and sunshine.

Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village

It's been a while that I haven't came back to Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village (九族文化村)~

Well..you may wonder since when? Let's say since my last Kindergarten's tour...

Therefore, you have no idea what's happened since then! All I know is there were only Aboriginal Villages, that's all. Nowadays, they have adventure garden & European Garden, plus they also build Sun Moon Lake Rope way which connect Villages and Sun Moon Lake, the tourists can go to Sun Moon Lake via Rope way more easily, as a result, a lot of people come to Villages then take the Rope way to Sun Moon Lake, really convenience.

The day when the mountains to feel really comfortable around the clouds curl not felt like this for a long time, especially when you live in a city like Taipei.

Next time, when you have some free time, why not come over here and enjoy it.

My best friend 蓋美拉, she has expended her business to Shi-Da night market (師大夜市). Therefore, based on our friendship, I should promote her business as much as I can, by the way, this is not the only spot she ownes. She also has Gongguan(台大公館) and NanYang street (南陽街), So Please feel free go and visit her.

As you can see, she does traditional Taiwanese food (豬血糕、熱狗、甜不辣、雞雞翅、雞腿、豆干...等) with family made secret source, more important thing is all NT$10, further, it taste really delicious, hmmm yum yum

Next time when you visit Shi-Da night market, dont't forget to seek her place and check it out, you will not regret.

UNIQLO is coming

No Kidding...these people came for UNIQLO~~

I am quite surprised that UNIQLO can catch so much attention, especially in Taiwan. I read all the papers today, the prices are even more expensive than China, Hong Kong and Japan, still there were so many Taiwanese crazy for them, which can support a theory that as long as it is from Japan, won't be a problem at all~~

No doubt, UNIQLO has made a significant success in Taiwan, however, would that be just one day or it will continue attract these customers come back and shop, we will see!!

Further to my comment, I think it is also a miracle that there are 5-6 department stores in XinYi District, you can imagine how competitive it is, so to distinguish their strength and unique would be their priority assignment at moment. After all, if the tourists and locals don't go to visit and shop, how can they make the profit and stand out the competition.

Hello Windsor

Windsor Castle

A lovely place, crowd of tourists especially during the weekend, such as last week, when we back to Windsor with our British best lad-English weather- A lovely sunshine.

Actually, this was not the reason we back to Windsor, this is because my gf's family, they came to visit us, as a result, she was planning some thing for them. So why not Windsor Castle, a royal castle with historical building which is a good choice.

In order to ensure every detail goes well and right. We went through the some famous spots, of course Windsor Castle, Cruise, Eton college, shopping centre. As she was sure where is where :)

In the end, she took her family to here and had a lot of fun when they stayed in Windsor Castle, after all it is a new experience for them.

Happy birthday Queen Elizabeth II‎

12th June 2010 will be Her Majesty's Officially birthday.

Well, it will not be my first time to see Her Majesty's birthday celebration.

I have been there once in 2008, that was the time when I finished my final exam and prepared my dissertation. I have to say it was more likely the National celebration in Taiwan. However, as a foreigner, it was extraordinary and fascinating.

Although I did not get any chance to see Her Majesty in a close distance, I still took a photo when she passed, but not very clear, that was a shame, so this week, I am going back to Buckingham Palace and enjoy this celebration one more time.

Day trip in Bournemouth

This is my second time visit Bournemouth.

I didn't spend a lot of time go deeply, because of we had scheduled our day already, therefore, we can only took around the BU & the town centre.

Hence, this time, we did actually plan to go somewhere.

Ideally we were headed to Swange and Poole, both of them are all in Bournemouth. However, we sit in somewhere for an hour in order to enjoy the sunshine and with noise sea bird....

So, on the way to Swange, we found out there is another way to Swange which we have no idea before, that is Ferry.

How exciting...especially, we drive, which makes out life a lot easier. One way 3.20 pounds per Car, 1 pound per person. Not too bad actually!

Below two photos took on the ferry, what a lovely weather. You can imagine at the timing, majority flights have been cancelled and airports forced to shut down due to the major volcanic ashe from Iceland.

Take a day off and enjoy the sunshine, refresh yourself is really important, especially, in the UK, I barely don't have a proper sunshine for a long while, now summer is coming out, I am going to enjoy it.

Night Market

There you go, the most famous Night Market in Taipei Taiwan, Shih Lin night market

This is Yang Ming cinema, not like Village cinema or other international company, it's been here for 2 or 3 decades, but to be quite honestly, I haven't walked into this cinema once in my life...sorry...can't introduce you lads more detail, but I can tell it is become a landmark tho.

As you can see, this is a really busy night market, a lot of people, cars, scooters, we used to ride our own scooters, snack in Taipei, quite interesting and crazy, and for this reason I feel it is totally unsafe if you would like to cycling in Taipei, that is risk your own life!! On the other hand, not everything is that horrible, we have a quite convenience public transportation, as my previous blog, we've got Taipei MRT system, bus services and cabs (we call taxi or 小黃), so come and visit Taiwan, to discover and explore proper Taiwanese and our culture, in particular our traditional food which you definitely can not miss.

Kaohsiung MRT

After traveling Taipei MRT, time to go to experience another MRT which is located in Kaohsiung. Yes, this is our first time to experience the new public transportation since she is working 1 or 2 years ago, not too sure when she was start working! Guess I was abroad at that moment.

This is Kaohsiung MRT, one of the big station-Central Park station. Also part of scene of the Pop TV programme: Black and White (痞子英雄)

It is located in the middle of Kaohsiung, around Wu Fu shopping area (五福商圈), DaLi department store (大立百貨) and 愛河, so basically, it is a quite busy area.

This is kind of tourise information bar, there is a Map, most popular place nearby, and info of public transport (MRT), as a tourist, this is quite helpful and useful. If you got your own map or tourist book, you might be able to cross check which one is much accurate!
