Reduce your Bouce Rate and earn Millions

I hope you all have installed Google Analytics in your blog. If not then quickly do so. The information and means to do it are available here. If you do not already know then you should know that Google Analytics is a tool that provides vital statistics about your website like how many people are visiting it and what time do they spend there etc. As you see above the Google Analytics gives information such as Visits, Page Views, Bounce Rates, Average time spent on the website, new visitors etc.

The most important parameter given above is the Bounce Rate. This is the percentage of people who come to the website and go back without going to any other page on the website. The higher this number the greater number of customers you are losing everyday. The endeavor on the webmaster's part should be to reduce this to bare minimum. In fact the ideal bounce rate should be 0. Any number more than zero is totally unacceptable.

To reduce the bounce rate the following steps must be taken immediately.

Targeted keywords: If your website is lacking targeted keywords, then the visitors will not find it relevant to their search results and will therefore move out. The website should not waver from the niche topic. Targeted audience is hard to get if the website covers a wide variety of topics. Your keywords should be there in titles, articles, and all other parts of your website.
Get the right look: Make your website look like it should be. If your recipe site looks like an auto review site then the potential audience of chefs will desert it like mice in a drowning ship. The look and feel of the site is therefore, very important. The color scheme and the images used should match the theme of the site.
Images in articles: Always insert images in the articles. Bland articles are not binding enough to catch hold of the visitors. Always insert relevant images, illustrations, diagrams in the articles to get the desired visitors to spend more time at your website.

All of us bloggers are always running after ideas and new tips to get more traffic to our blogs. This traffic is the prime reason why we bust our backs day in and day out writing new posts everyday so that someone somewhere reads it and appreciates it. The more people read it and appreciate it we all get a kick out of it (at least I do). That this leads to a small profit to us is a small matter...

The system works on the principal of reciprocality. If you give a page-view of 100 to the blogrush widget, then your blog post title will be visible on the same widget in 100 other blogrush user pages.

This gives an enormous visibility to your blog as well as you benefit from the affiliate program of the system. This widget shows the first 40 characters of your post titles, therefore writing good titles within 40 characters is of the essence if you want good traffic from the Blogrush network.

Using Yahoo Answers to generate traffic

Another great way to generate a traffic surge is to use this free service from Yahoo. This involves people asking questions about various fields and then experts in those fields answering them. Fairly simple isn't it? But it presents a unique opportunity to get free traffic to your website/blog.

The process is very straight-forward. You need to have a yahoo account and then you choose a category of your choice where you think you are an expert or at least for which you can answer questions from newbies or other people looking for answers. There are many categories to choose from and you will definitely find a category that suits you.

After this you should wait to get questions from the other users of the service and prepare to give solutions to their problems. While answering give logical answers to the queries and try and satisfy the person. The thing you need to do here is to add a link to your website/blog in this answer and lo behold you have a free link to your site from Yahoo Answers. Now the trick here is to be the early bird and answer a question before other experts answer it. This gives you more exposure and increases your reputation.

If your answer is fairly good other readers will be inclined to click on your link to know more about you and your work. This will further give a booster dose of free incoming traffic.

So go ahead and start answering questions - you never know that helping somebody might actually give you some real Karma points...You might earn something also.

7 Steps to Create Scannable Content

One thing you must keep in mind while putting up content online is that the online reader is very finicky about what he or she wants to read. If your post is quite lengthy and deals with an arcane subject, then it is quite possible your reader might dump you in between.

This calls for making your content tailor made for such readers. 16% average web users actually go through every word of what you have put down, rest scan your page keywords of interest and only read the relevant sections that are of interest. So I present today some measures to take to keep such readers happy and not lose their interest.

Make Lists: Always try and present your facts and figures in list form. If you have a bunch of things to tell your audience then it is advisable that you list them out in numbers and make headings of each point, much like how I am presenting these points to you right now. Therefore avoid putting your text in lengthy essay form and always favor bulleted lists instead.
Bold and Italized: Wherever you are referring to important points take special care to either italize the text or make it Bold. This grabs the attention of the reader and if the topic of discussion is of interest to him then he wont go anywhere before reading it fully.
Headers: Structure your post body so as to include headings and sub-headings to stress upon key areas of the topic. This will ensure that all points being covered in your article will be seen by the visitors and will not remain unread.
Graphics: It is said that a picture says a thousand words and here too if your article uses an image or a graphic to illustrate a point then it is always better. The picture will attract the attention of the reader and the words will deliver the whole story.
Borders: You can enclose certain key points and sections within borders to stress importance.
White Space: Always leave ample space around your article and do not try to fill up all the page real estate. A fully filled up page gives a feeling of claustrophobia to the reader and the empty space give a feeling of freshness to the reader, give it to him.
Keep it short:Always keep your points short and if required break them up in small parts. Also place these points in separate paragraphs.

But it can do only that much and for you to get the best out of this very good tool you need to peek into the psychology of the del.icio.us.com users and use this knowledge to your advantage. If you use the tips given below you will definiltely see the difference in the traffic that you generated previously and afterwards.

Listing helps: When you are telling your users about a bunch of things then instead of putting them in plain prose, lay them in a list and preferably in a numbered list. This promptly attracts the attention of the visitors and you will get a surge of traffic.
Number your list in the heading: Like I have done above "6 steps to a higher rank on Del.icio.us", you should also make a similar heading and announce to your potential readers, what exactly he is going to get after he has read the article. "6 steps..." or "10 rules..." or "5 tips..." etc.
Write articles that promise to guide: Articles that promise to guide your reader to a desired goal are definitely more popular and therefore, attract more traffic. The average del.icio.us user is looking for a Tutorial to a task and your heading should sound like one.
Promises...Promises: Make tall promises in the heading itself. The heading of your article should convince your reader that this is the sure shot solution to his problem and he will definitely visit the link. Therefore headings like "6 steps to a higher rank on Del.Icio.us" surely is designed to attract readers. Your content of course, should complement this and should not be a damp squib.
Techno Jargon: Del.icio.us users are more inclined to be technically minded so if your heading and the article has a bunch of technical keywords then it is surely going to attract more visitors than any other article on the same topic devoid of the technical jargon. Articles should have words like "AJAX, CSS, RSS, SOAP, OLAP" etc. interspersed in it so as to get the attention of the majority of del.icio.us users.
Humor: Humor is the best medicine as they say, it is also a sure way to attract more people to your website by way of putting up a humorous link in del.icio.us.

As I have stated over and over again here, that content is KING. Good content will attract traffic to your site and some of those will click on your Adsense Ads giving you revenues. Good content means having multiple pages of content focussing on your chosen niche topic. These topics can be anything like babies, baby photos, pets, automobile tires or Adsense like mine. So the first step obviously is to find out your niche topic and then religiously post information on your website regularly. The benefits of having good content are many, some of them are:

If the visitor likes your content then the probability of him lingering on longer at your site is quite high and in the process he might click on those strategically placed ad units.
Search Engine spiders will crawl your site easily and more visitors will get to reach your pages.
If you have rich content, then most visitors will make it a point to revisit as reading all information in a single visit is not possible. The subsequent visits will also ensure a steady traffic. If your site has more data in the next visit your site might become a regular feature for many netizens.
This loyal set of visitors will then subscribe for the RSS feeds from the website and also recommend your site to their friends.

Commenting on other forums: Things to avoid

I have been hammered right from when I started blogging that putting comments on like minded forums will result in getting a higher traffic for your forum. This is of course true, but even in this there are some rules to follow and some things to avoid. Remember the forum users are also individuals like yourself and your conduct in any forum should be similar to your conduct during meeting any other person - you should never forget etiquette.

Username in a forum: Your username in a forum should be human like only. You should avoid using names like moneymaker, moneyspinner etc., that give impression that you are not a serious contributer but an opportunist. As far as possible use your real name or at least use a human name, if you are uncomfortable disclosing your true identity.
Terse comments: While in a community don't give terse one word comments like Good, Bad, etc., just to add to your number of comments. This also puts a question mark on your seriousness. You should always participate fully in the discussions and any half hearted participation gives a feeling of alienation to the other users and moderators can even ban your id from further participation.
Your Blog URL: You should only add a link to your blog in the post only if its relevant to the subject matter or you want people to read a particular post that has similar subject. Do not put in the link even of the topic being discussed has no relation to the subject matter of your blog.
Make comments only after reading the other posts: This has been seen that some people will make comments just by reading the topic and without bothering to read other comments. This leads to a situation when the same comment is being repeated over and over again by different users and this adds no value to the discussion. Some forums have been very strict on this and have banned people just because of this.
Consistency: Some people are known to put in their comments diligently in the beginning but lose interest once their names start figuring in the top contributors. This smacks of egoistic nature and should be avoided. Remember that you are dealing with humans here and you should follow the normal behavior which you will do when dealing with actual people.
Impersonation: This almost borders on criminal behavior when you put in your comments in a blog but use the name of a rival blog or website. This is to be discourages at all costs and if you find someone doing it please report this to the forum moderators.

Using Stumble Upon to build Traffic

Stumble-Upon is a wonderful tool for posting details of interesting sites that you want others to discover. This has very good use for webmasters who want to build traffic to their sites. You must have seen "Stumble It" links on many websites urging you to submit the site on Stumble Upon.

Actually Stumble Upon is an Ebay owned website where you can rate and discover all sorts of web content including websites, music, videos and other online media. This is done through a downloadable browser plugin. The advantage of using Stumble Upon over Digg, for example is that Stumble Upon shows individual websites for you to rate, rather than a bunch of sites connected through a common subject matter. After the plugin has been installed in your browser your browser will have a Stumble toolbar which has all the functions on it. The features available are Stumbling and rating. For stumbling you click on the "Stumble!" button and you will be taken to a random site associated with the subject of your interest as given during registration. You can rate the website by clicking over Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down buttons denoting positive and negative votes for the website.

Advantages Using this service is of great advantage especially if your goal is to get maximum traffic for your website. This service can get you an equivalent traffic vis-a-vis Digg if not greater. The resulting traffic may not be a flood like you get from Digg, but it will be steady stream spread over a period of time.

Using stumble upon the users may not get breaking stories or the very latest snippets, but they are more likely to get quality stories vetted by many other users having similar interests. This results in the user getting more relevant information and the website in turn getting a loyal userbase.

Improving PR for maximum Adsense Revenues

As discussed earlier also the key to maximum adsense revenues is through a high Google Page Rank (PR). This results in a higher traffic for the bog/website which increases the CTR of the adsense ads culminating in a increased revenue. Thus you might say increase PR and everything is taken care of... Yes this might be the case in Utopia but increasing PR is no joke. This has now evolved into an art-form and books are being written on the subject. While this post is no lengthy testament but still here I try to bring to you some of the tips and tricks that will definitely increase your PR on popular search engines.

Keywords: Keywords research is a very important aspect of the quest for higher PR. You must know what your audience is searching for on popular search engines and the search results should have your site/blog in a prominent position. Using common words and phrases for which there might be hundreds of other sites, may prove to be useless as you will end up competing with more well known websites and your PR will never increase. Therefore, try and use uncommon phrases and these should still cover what your audience will use while searching for it. It is confusing, but hell, this is how it works - You must use uncommon words but they must be in most search queries. You can use free online tools to search for what the world is searching for - they can be found here and here among others.
Title Tag: Title tag is very important for Google. Google search algorithm looks for Title Tag (Anything between the tags) and considers it to be the most relevant and important part of the web page it spiders. This is the underlined text that appears in the Google search results. The important thing here is to keep it descriptive enough as well as to pack in all the keywords that you have discovered through the tools described above.
Description Tag: This gives the information about the content of the web page and appears immediately below the Title in the search results. This should of course be descriptive in nature and also pack in some of the lesser of the keywords discovered above.
Domain Name: Ideally your domain name must carry the keywords of the website as it gives a definitive boost to the PR of the website. If the keywords are not present in the domain name then the relevancy of your website is lost with respect to the search query (for the search engine)
Content: It cannot be reinforced anymore that the "Content Is King". Your site/blog must have relevant content if you want your site to be successful. Forget PR, if you pack your site with relevant keywords and use many other fringe techniques your PR might increase, but if your site lacks good relevant content then users to the site will never come back. Repeat visitors for the backbone of any website's traffic.
Linking: Your site must be linked with other similar sites or other sites having content of the similar subject. This is very important as Google looks for other sites linked to your site while deciding on the relevancy of your site with respect to others. The links can be of two types - One way and Two way. One way links mean that the other site links to your site but does not ask for a corresponding link to itself on your site. These links are hard to get for startups and for them the second types are more relevant. Here you find sites which are on similar subjects as your site and ask them to feature links to your site on them and in return you feature their links on your site. This is mutually beneficial and very effective in PR as well as general traffic building. You can use this tool to check whether the site your are going to link to has any links to bad sites. This is important because Google penalizes sites which link to bad sites.
There is no Short-Cut: Above all please keep in mind this is no fast food. You will not begin to see results immediately after taking the above steps. The results will only come after sustained eforts by you. It is also possible that the above worked for me but may not work for you, so you must be patient and devise your own strategy for getting that elusive better PR.

I can almost hear many groans from my audience complaining about yet another jargon I have just introduced at the blog. This jargon you better pay attention to as this might be the ultimate in traffic building tools that are available to budding bloggers.

Blog carnivals are nothing but communities that show case particular niche blogs on selsected dates and provide links to all the blogs who have shown interest in the event. They are like road shows where even upstarts your truly are given equal opportunities. There are many such carnivals on the internet that cater to this demand of a "Link Fair".

A blog carnival offers a unique captive audience for your blogs and gives a boost to the traffic for flagelling blogs in the beginning of their lives. The best part of such carnivals is that you get so much in-bound traffic and publicity and that too for free. Only thing left for bloggers is to find their niche subjects in the huge collection of categories and sub-categories and post their best posts for the participants to read. Each carnival event can easily fetch hundreds if not thousands of new subscribers for your blog and can go a long way to publicising your blog.

Protect your Adsense Code

You may not be aware but there is a potential danger to your adsense account. There is a possibility that someone might copy your adsense code onto a website with inappropriate code that may damage your whole adsense account.

This has happened at least to one person atleast who has acknowledged this. There may be more who have not reported it.

This is quite frightening if you think seriously, all your hard work can go down the drain if someone decides to hurt you real bad. But don't worry yourself to death - there is help at hand. Recently adsense added a new feature to Google Adsense Program.

Adsense has a new tab called "Allowed Sites". The two options under this tab are;

Allow any site to show ads for my account
Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account

In the second option you can any domain or sub-domain to your list of approved sites. If anyone tries to paste your code to any site other than the above list, the adsense ads will appear but you will not get any revenue from the clicks or even count impressions. Here I and many other similar thinking bloggers beg to differ from Google Adsense Program. A better option would have been to only show PSA's. Anyway Google has thought this to be right for them and this is how it works for now. So I think everybody should use this feature and protect their adsense account.

Optimize your blog for maximum revenues

It has been repeated ad nauseum here and elsewhere that the success of any blog rests entirely on the traffic it can generate. The ensuing revenues are a direct result of this. But what are the tricks that will make your blog a winner in this rat race. We look at exactly this and find out how to make your blog a traffic magnet.

Add "Tag Clouds" on your blog like the one you see on this blog on the right side. This is a very potent force multiplier and I have read about so many bloggers who have doubled there traffic just by adding a tag cloud in their blogs. You can add this from by looking at the instructions here .
Add a related posts section. There are a lot of plugins available that will help you add this in your blog.
Add a top ten posts feature to list out your most popular posts. But do this only when you have a sizeable number of blogs. This will defeat the purpose if you have only 5 posts and you add a TOP TEN section... I hope you get my point.
Add a NEXT and PREVOUS post links.
Claim your blog at Technocrati and use its tags.
Use DiggIt and Reddit. This is strictly through personal experience - DiggIt and Reddit have dramatic impact on your traffic. Just use it once and you will make it habit to go there everyday.

Automated OR Manual Submission to Directories

Sites can be submitted to directories in two ways - manually adding your site to individual directories one-by-one and second way is to use automated submission software to do the job. While it is true that automated submission will be able to submit your site details to thousands of directories in a very small time and also free, but the method suffers from the following disabilities.

Directories require the submitter to enter a few characters (Captcha) to identofy you as a genuine human being. This step is bound to be missed by the automated submission and hence your site will not be submitted to these directories.
Some directories also do not allow automated submissions because it has been seen that automated submission software sometimes dump spam onto these directories.
Even if your site manages to get submitted by the software, it may not be able to drill it down to the correct sub-category where your might attract maximum traffis - hence the whole exercise might be one in vain.

So in light of the above it is most advisable that manual submission is the way forward, but it being so much time consuming you would be better advised to out-source the submission process. There is also the question of expertise here, a person having good experience in the field might be able to submit your site to most popular categories and avoid dull ones, bringing good traffic in return.

Dramatically Increase your Google Page Rank

I came to know about the concept of Viral Tagging from here. I think it is a wonderful idea and I really think it would help in increasing the Page Rank of the blog quite dramatically. Just follow the instructions given below:

1.) Copy and paste the entire matrix of “ViralTags” below.

2.) Substitute the Host Tag and one of the “ViralTags” in the matrix with your anchor text of choice containing your blog’s URL. Please keep anchor text to a maximum of 4 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “ViralTags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “ViralTags” below.

Submitting to various directories

The process of actual submission of your website details on web directories is fairly simple as described below:

First step is to keep ready your site details like Title and a short description. The important thing to note here is that the description should give adequate information on the key elements of the site/blog as well as be interesting enough to entice the visitors to click it.
A typical directory website consists of a list of categories. The directory accepts sites under these categories only. The second obvious step therefore, is to locate the appropriate category that best describes your website/blog. If there are sub-categories, then drill down to the appropriate sub-category.
When your reach the sub-category page, all directories contain a link which says "Submit Link" or "Suggest a Site" or something to this effect. On clicking this we are taken to a page where you will be asked to enter website information such as Title, Description etc. Here you should use the Title and Description you wrote in the first step.
Some directories ask for email address also, you should use a separate email address than your regular address as you would get a lot of spam whenever you submit to a Directory listing.
On submitting the information entered above you will get a confirmation page that your website has been entered and it will take so much time for it to be reviewed and formally accepted into the directory.
Some directories ask for a fee for accepting websites, you should first evaluate the directory before agreeing to pay for submission. If for example it is Yahoo, you should definitely consider it seeing the reach Yahoo has. If on the other hand the directory in question is not so well known then excercise your discretion.
After all this your site may still be rejected. The reason could be poor content, or being too region specific or it also might be a ruse to extract money. Look for directory guidelines before you consider particular directories for submission of your website/blog.

The web-directories however do not use spiders for this purpose, they depend upon human intervention for getting to know about the existence of the various websites.

I have seen many a posts on the internet where people are complaining that they have not made any serious money although they have been religiously posting on their blogs and using site monetizing techniques. People need to understand that earning money through full time blogging is a very difficult and tedious process and not everybody is made for it. I present below some of the associated myths and remedies thereof...

Just setting up a website and thinking that now the money will start falling through the roof is downright stupid - it will never happen.
Similarly, just adding Google Adsense code into your website will not ensure ringing cash register, a lot needs to be done and believe me, its very hard work.
Do not believe in people saying that they are making six-figure incomes just by adding adsense into their website and working two hours a day - Its a white LIE.
Your website needs real content for it to make some money. Small 1-5 page websites can never make the kind of money those emails promised.
Plagiarism is a strict no-no, it will never even be listed on popular search engines.
I have seen many ads delivered to my email, selling 1-2 step websites. Never fall for them, they are lying and you will never make any money buying them... stay away from them.
You need to have passion for the medium if you are serious about setting up an online business. The activity of creating websites that millions go to needs dedication and a lot of tecnical skills.
Before monetizing your website/Blog make it popular. Only about 10% of people click on ads (If you are very lucky). That means if only 100 people are visiting your website every day, then you might get at maximum about 10 clicks - which translates into $1 (again, if you are lucky).
Go for niche interests for which not much information is available online. This ensures more traffic and hence more income.
You must have a working knowledge of HTML, so that you are not dependent on your developers for making small changes in the website.
Post regularly - This is very important. You must post new content on the website/ blog for people to visit it again and again. This builds traffic as also it results in improving your site position on the search results. Ideally you should post everyday, but posting quality content once a week is also very good.
And last but foremost is that you must have a flair for writing. Bad writing skills will not take you far in this field. Grammatical and spelling mistakes are very bad for a budding writing career in the blogosphere.

Putting relevant keywords in the Title of a post as well as the actual post of your blog is very important as it helps the search engine spider to crawl your blog and index it in its search engine directory.

Now, what is a keyword? A keyword is a search term used by Search Engine Users to look for relevant content in the vastness of the Internet. Search Engine algorithm looks for relevant keywords in Billions of webpages from all over to bring relevant search results for their users. So blog posts that have those keywords being used by the Search Engine users will have an edge over those that do not have the keywords in the blog-post.

Another factor in this is the freshness of the post. Those posts which are newer will rank above the older posts having same keywords. This means that in their initial days Blogs grow through traffic from Search Engines rather than links from other blogs. So in the initial days of a blog, keywords are very important for its popularity.

Therefore bloggers should give foremost importance to the keywords while formulating a post Title as well as writing the post itself. This is go a long way in getting Organic links that drive the blog in its initial days. Having relevant keywords in the Title also results in getting the interest of your readers initially as the user is starting to browse through your blog. This helps in retaining your reader in the crucial initial moments of a users visit to your blog and he then makes the decision whether he reads any further or goes back to where he came from.

Today I am going to summarize on the various Adsense Optimizing Tips that I have learnt myself from various sources.

Location It has been identified through experimentation by various bloggers and webmasters "the middle, above the fold location perform best". Also if your site has long articles then it is better to have ads at the bottom of the page.
Formats The most successful adsense format is the 336x280 rectangle, while the second one on the list of top formats is 300x250 rectangle. The other one in the list is the 160x600 skyscraper. It has also been noted that wide formats tend to do better because readers start to lose interest if the length of the written material is long.
Blend Blend the ad format with your website colors. Make it look like your content itself. It has been recorded that when users move from blended ads to unblended ads - the click rate falls by about 65%.
Ad Blindness If the ads are of bright colors, then users are immediately aware that these are ads and they ignore them. Also frequent users tend to know where the ads will appear so keep changing your formats for the click rate to climb.
Experiment Above all do not purely depend upon advice like the one you are getting here. Your position will be a unique one and annot be generalized. So experiment with formats, colors and positioning to get that perfect result for you.
Image Ads Adsense program recommends them for maximizing your revenues. I have not switched them on because I find them very distracting.
Content Focus on the quality of content on your site. This is the most important point for increasing the traffic. If your content is compelling then the readers will return and also spread the word.

Organic links are those links to your site which the respective authors have voluntarily put on their site after reading your content and liking it. This is the most difficult to get links and they are also the most durable and paying.

Content is king as everybody knows and everybody wants to read something that adds value to their online experience. If however, your content is no good or worse spammy, then its very difficult to get automatic referrals from other sites. The siteowner will only link to content that he himself like and would want his readers to also read and enjoy or benefit from.

Publicity

The next step is to get the people out there to know that there is this great content waiting to be read by them. This is very much akin to the chicken and egg analogy. The site which is well known gets more readers while newer sites find it difficult to attract new visitors. One way to get started is to start posting in related forums and blog comments. The webmasters will notice your comments and if they find it interesting may well visit your site. Now, leaving comments like "Please Visit My site Blah.. Blah... Blah" is no good and may well get you ignored. Give intelligent comments to show that you are definitely interested in the subject and want to paricipate in the debate.

Clicks with 0 earnings

Many times you might have seen that although you got some clicks on your ads but there is no changes in your earnings as seen on your Google Adsense Earnings Reports.

This is quite a common occurring and you should not get agitated because of this. There are three most common reasons for this happening:

Clicks are invalid Clicks on your ad units can be deemed invalid if they are contrary to the Adsense TOS. The clicks are deemed invalid if the Google is suspicious of the clicking activity. This may be due to multiple clicks happening from a single IP or very quick clicks (suspicious Click Robot activity) in a short period of time.
PSA being displayed on your site Sometimes when the Adsense has not yet crawled your site to get to know about the site keywords, the program displays Public Service Adverts. These are unpaid adverts dealing with public welfare activities like call for donations of accdent victims etc. If there are any clicks on such sites, then although the clicks are registered, but there is no earning.
CPM ads Some ads are configured to generate revenue not for clicks but for no of impressions eg. If the ad is configured to pay you $0.05 for 10 impressions, then for a first few impressions the value generated is less that $0.01, so the earning genarated would only be shown till you reach a value more than $0.01.

To maximise your Adsense Revenue your have to keep in mind the four parameters that govern revenue levels, they are;

Website /Blog Traffic
High Paying Adverts
Optimised positioning of Ads
Serving of relevant Ads

Website Traffic

The revenue through Adsense program is governed by the number of clicks you get from your website on the Google Ads. So it is very obvious that when the site traffic will increase the number of clicks will also increase. The increase of site traffic can brought about by various means like listing of the website/blog in different directories, indices and other high traffic portals from where interested visitors will come to the website. Examples of such indices are Slashdot, Indianpad, Digg It, Delicious etc. It is also true that increasing of traffic for a start-up website is rather difficult, but as the traffic increases the rate of increase in traffic is exponential. The best publicity for any website is word of mouth publicity as it is more permanent and the satisfied users themselves spread the word. Always avoid commercial SEO software as sometimes their activities are deemed illegal by some search engines and your site may not be indexed at all.

High Paying Ads

Your site gets high paying ads when the content you are serving on the website/blog is top-notch. If your content deals with a specialised topic on which information is hard to get, then advertisers will be willing to pay higher price for clicks on your site. This is most true for technical information sites and other info-rich site/blogs. So a site catering to mundane topics will have to drive much higher traffic to get the same amount of revenue than a highly arcane topic. The relevant ads, thus, high paying ads will only come to your site if the site has been optimised for relevant keywords and section targeting has been properly done.

Positioning Of Ads

As discussed in my previous submissions, the position of Ads has to be very carefully chosen so that the probability of the visitors clicking on it increases. The ad has to be near chunks of text/images which have more visitors reading or watching them. The position of an ad on a browser real estate is almost as critical as a Billboard placed on a busy road. The advertising agencies pay lot more for busy intersections than seldomly used roads. Relevant Ads

Another key component of the whole equation is the question of relevant ads appearing on your website. If your website/Blog is talking about movies the ads being served should be relevant to the topic and thus attract the attention of the visitor. If the ads on your site/blog is not not relevant ot your topic then obviously it would not appeal to your visitors because his interest will be more near to your topic. This will lead to falling revenues. The relevant ads can be attracted to your site by carefully selecting the subjects while configuring Adsense Setup and also by placing correct keywords inside the website/blog body.

SO in short we can say that if you keep in mind the above points the revenue from your website/blog will not only increase but also touch the astronomical heights that you might aspire for...
