What is the first step to start a company?

Start with an idea or by giving the solution of any real life problem. If you are fresher in this field then I will recommend you to start with simple idea. Don’t start with any big or complex idea. If you try anything big then you will not only find it difficult to execute this but also you will lose your interest in starting your own company. A paper clip is also an invention and has a million dollars turnover. So start with anything simple.

If you don’t have an idea but has some skills and expertise then join a startup company in his early stage that need a person someone like you.

If you have already an idea to start a company then start acting on it. Here are the some steps which might help you to start your company.

1) Start with research. Research is most important thing prior to start a company. For a case, if you have any internet startup then do some research and get some statistics like how many people search about this by using Google insight tool or Google keywords tool.

2) After research figure out what are the things you needed to start a company e.g. money, human resource, skills, space etc.

3) Now start with limited resources and don’t worry about the money, skills, resources and support since nobody comes with all of these, all have to get all of these by themselves. In this journey you will figure out how to deal with all of these problems. As you go deep into this you will not only become more knowledgeable but also become a great leader.

4) I am assuming that you will make mistakes as we are human and we do mistakes. So as soon as you realize your mistake it will be much better for you. Most of the companies use fiscal year to evaluate their company growth and to know whether their new strategy works or not. So you should follow the same.

5) Don’t expect success in just few weeks. Every startup takes time to gets momentum.It needs continuous efforts and patience. The ideal time to judge a company is 6 months.

After following these steps you can bring your idea into real company. Now, to take your company to the next step you will need the help of some accelerator programs or angel funding.

Louis Gerstner joined IBN in 1993. In that time IBM was going through the big loss and its revenue was sinking like stone. The IBM was almost dead at that time. In that time Gerstner took over the company rein and applied his management skills to get back the company into profit. Some of his management philosophy and practices which helped the company to come out from this cumbersome situation are summarized here (In Gerstner own lines).

I manage by principle, not by procedure.

The marketplace dictates everything we should do.

I’m a big believer in quality, strong competitive strategies and plans, teamwork, payoff for performance, and ethical responsibility.

I look for people who work to solve problems and help colleagues. I sack politicians.

I am heavily involved I strategy; the rest is yours to implement. Just keep me informed in an informal way. Don’t hide bad information – I hate surprises. Don’t try blow things by me. Solve problems laterally; don’t keep bringing them up the line.

Move fast. If we make mistakes, let them be because we are too fast rather than too slow.

Hierarchy means very little to me. Let’s put together in meetings the people who can help solve a problem, regardless of position. Reduce committees and meetings to a minimum. No committee decision making. Let’s have lots of candid. Straightforwardness communications.

I don’t completely understand the technology. I will need to learn it, but don’t expect me to master it. The unit leaders must be the translators into business terms for me.

Most of the people don’t know the true meaning of life. None of us knows what we are doing on this planet earth but one thing is quite sure that we have to live our life. So, how people live there life? Any guess...??? Answer is quit simple, they follow the same pursuit as others are doing, isn't it. In other words they live someone else life. So, what is the true meaning of life? I am sure it is already known to us that is, living your own dreams and do what you really want to be in your life. This will not only give you the immense pleasure but also give you the great recognition and self respect.

Following your own dreams is not an easy journey. You need great determination and will power to accomplish it. Since, you are going to create your own path that will be followed by others. Moreover, you are not anymore the part of crowd. You are going to be the pirate of your own life and it requires some skill-sets to find way in an open sea. So I am going to share you some important steps to live your dreams.

Some important steps to live your dreams and follow your heart :-

1. Start dreaming and set a goal to achieve

Take a time for self introspection and ask yourself what you really want to do with this life. What you dream about to be. What are the things which give you immense pleasure? If you don’t find one then keep looking don’t settle down until and unless you find one. I am sure you will definitely find one.

2. Give at least a single try to your dreams

You can’t achieve anything without putting a single effort. So put some efforts unto this. This will give you the clear cut idea about how much efforts it is needed and how much efforts you can put unto this. Thus you can take your decision to go further or not.

3. Don’t expect success in a single try

If you are expecting success in a single try then it nothing more than killing your dreams. If you are enough sure of getting positive results then you must try again and again until and unless you get success.

4. Learn from your failures

This is the most important one. If you don’t learn from your last failure then there is no point to try again and again. Learn your shortcomings and meticulously analyze the causes of your failures. Then try again without repeating the same mistakes.

5. Stop complaining and blaming

Stop complaining about lack of resources, lack of money, lack of skills, and lack of knowledge and so on. Nobody comes with all of these. All have to get these by themselves. You can get all of these if you are willing to do. So stop complaining and blaming.

6. Will to succeed

Every person has a special power that is “Will Power”. A person can do anything by his will power. So, why don’t you use this power to fulfill your dreams?

7. Be optimistic

Stop expecting the worst possible outcomes. This will not going to help you even will make the situation worst. So, by doing so you already decided to accept failure. However you can change the any situation by your positive attitudes and decide your success. There are so many people whose positive attitude turned the worst situations into favorable ones.

8. Think about death bed

When you will be in death bed you will realize the importance of your dreams. You will blame yourself and feel the guilty of not fulfilling your dreams although you can do this. That will be the worst feeling in the whole life. So, don’t wait for that day and start fulfilling your dreams.

I am sure these steps will definitely help you in achieving your goals and living your dreams.

A Crucial Factor which will very effectively help us to shed complex and gain confidence is proper understanding of human psychology. Most of us are under the impression that other people are keenly watching us, observing our acts with great interest. They compare and analyze our activities in order to find fault or pass judgement on us. To understand the validity of this incorrect assumption just ask yourself as to how much, how far and how long are you interested in others and in their activities ? You will admit your interest in others in exception rather than a rule. Your own problems are occupying your mind and engaging your attention.

In order to draw your attention, things have to be either abnormal or directly connected with your interests. Something has to catch your eyes, make an impact on your other sense organs. Particularly to attract your attention. Could you recall now whom all you met since you got up this morning? You will not remember the individual unless he has been a friend of yours or a very beautiful young girl with plenty of curves and verve. Next, can you recall the dress the people were wearing, in the cases where you are able to remember whom you met? Further still, can recollect what they did or said? You will find you hardly remember anything. You hardly notices anything you were not bothered.

What is true of you is true of others. Others are not at all bothered about you. They are immersed in their own problems. Do you think that others are worried about your looks, about your height, weight or size, about your clothes, hair style, or manner of speaking? If so, You are sadly and definitely mistaken. When you make a public speech, You often labour under the impression that people are keenly making note of each syllable you utter, You are worried that they will observe minor grammatical mistakes and incorrect pronunciation. On the other hand, they are primarily interested in what you say rather than how you say it. If what you say is interesting, their attention is centered on it and not on other minor matters.

When you hear a great orator speaking, you listen to his talk. Your attention is riveted on the ideas he is projecting. You are not conscious of his appearance, looks, dress and such matters. Most of the complexes of an individual are related to the fear of these non-existent judgements, opinions and views of others. The under-confident individual is afraid of the criticism and adverse comments of others. When he realizes that others are least bothered about him or his looks, talks, or activities, his under-confidence will automatically disappear. Whenever you feel under-confidence, hesitate, shy, just stop and ask yourself 'where is the need?' Remind yourself that others are not bothered about your performance. Even if they notice, they would hardly remember it after a time.

Therefore, the problem is to satisfy your own mind than those of others. So, why take others seriously ! Why worry about something that really does not exist ? Do you have any doubts ? Are you willing to take a challenge ? All right. You start right now and go ahead doing what what you feel is difficult for you to do. Let us see how many people come back feel is difficult for you to do. Let us see how many people come back feel is difficult for you to do. Let us see how many people come back and corner you with their criticism and comments.

Most important thing is that others won't be interested in you, unless you take interest in them first. You can attract attention which matters, you can arouse interest which will count only by yourself taking interest in their own matters first. When your approach is leadership-oriented, you are already starting with your right foot forward. By taking genuine and sincere interest in others you have already impressed them favorably.

The Top Ten Lessons Steve Jobs Can Teach Us - If We'll Listen

1. The most enduring innovations marry art and science –

Steve has always pointed out that the biggest difference between Apple and all the other computer (and post-PC) companies through history is that Apple always tried to marry art and science. Jobs pointed out the original team working on the Mac had backgrounds in anthropology, art, history, and poetry. That’s always been important in making Apple’s products stand out. It’s the difference between the iPad and every other tablet computer that came before it or since. It is the look and feel of a product. It is its soul. But it is such a difficult thing for computer scientists or engineers to see that importance, so any company must have a leader that sees that importance.

2. To create the future, you can’t do it through focus groups –

There is a school of thought in management theory that — if you’re in the consumer-facing space building products and services — you’ve got to listen to your customer. Steve Jobs was one of the first businessmen to say that was a waste of time. The customers today don’t always know what they want, especially if it’s something they’ve never seen, heard, or touched before. When it became clear that Apple would come out with a tablet, many were skeptical. When people heard the name (iPad), it was a joke in the Twitter-sphere for a day. But when people held one, and used it, it became a ‘must have.’ They didn’t know how they’d previously lived without one. It became the fastest growing Apple product in its history. Jobs (and the Apple team) trusted himself more than others. Picasso and great artists have done that for centuries. Jobs was the first in business.

3. Never fear failure –

Jobs was fired by the successor he picked. It was one of the most public embarrassments of the last 30 years in business. Yet, he didn’t become a venture capitalist never to be heard from again. He didn’t start a production company and do a lot of lunches. He picked himself up and got back to work following his passion. Eight years ago, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told he only had a few weeks to live. As Samuel Johnson said, there’s nothing like your impending death to focus the mind. From Jobs’ 2005 Stanford commencement speech:

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

4. You can’t connect the dots forward – only backward –

This is another gem from the 2005 Stanford speech. The idea behind the concept is that, as much as we try to plan our lives ahead in advance, there’s always something that’s completely unpredictable about life. What seems like bitter anguish and defeat in the moment — getting dumped by a girlfriend, not getting that job at McKinsey, “wasting” 4 years of your life on a start-up that didn’t pan out as you wanted — can turn out to sow the seeds of your unimaginable success years from now. You can’t be too attached to how you think your life is supposed to work out and instead trust that all the dots will be connected in the future. This is all part of the plan.

"Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

5. Listen to that voice in the back of your head that tells you if you’re on the right track or not –

Most of us don’t hear a voice inside our heads. We’ve simply decided that we’re going to work in finance or be a doctor because that’s what our parents told us we should do or because we wanted to make a lot of money. When we consciously or unconsciously make that decision, we snuff out that little voice in our head. From then on, most of us put it on automatic pilot. We mail it in. You have met these people. They’re nice people. But they’re not changing the world. Jobs has always been a restless soul. A man in a hurry. A man with a plan. His plan isn’t for everyone. It was his plan. He wanted to build computers. Some people have a voice that tells them to fight for democracy. Some have one that tells them to become an expert in miniature spoons. When Jobs first saw an example of a Graphical User Interface — a GUI — he knew this was the future of computing and that he had to create it. That became the Macintosh. Whatever your voice is telling you, you would be smart to listen to it. Even if it tells you to quit your job, or move to China, or leave your partner.

6. Expect a lot from yourself and others –

We have heard stories of Steve Jobs yelling or dressing down staff. He’s a control freak, we’ve heard – a perfectionist. The bottom line is that he is in touch with his passion and that little voice in the back of his head. He gives a damn. He wants the best from himself and everyone who works for him. If they don’t give a damn, he doesn’t want them around. And yet — he keeps attracting amazing talent around him. Why? Because talent gives a damn too. There’s a saying: if you’re a “B” player, you’ll hire “C” players below you because you don’t want them to look smarter than you. If you’re an “A” player, you’ll hire “A+” players below you, because you want the best result.

7. Don’t care about being right. Care about succeeding –

Jobs used this line in an interview after he was fired by Apple. If you have to steal others’ great ideas to make yours better, do it. You can’t be married to your vision of how a product is going to work out, such that you forget about current reality. When the Apple III came out, it was hot and warped its motherboard even though Jobs had insisted it would be quiet and sleek. If Jobs had stuck with Lisa, Apple would have never developed the Mac.

8. Find the most talented people to surround yourself with –

There is a misconception that Apple is Steve Jobs. Everyone else in the company is a faceless minion working to please the all-seeing and all-knowing Jobs. In reality, Jobs has surrounded himself with talent: Phil Schiller, Jony Ive, Peter Oppenheimer, Tim Cook, the former head of stores Ron Johnson. These are all super-talented people who don’t get the credit they deserve. The fact that Apple’s stock price has been so strong since Jobs left as CEO is a credit to the strength of the team. Jobs has hired bad managerial talent before. John Sculley ended up firing Jobs and — according to Jobs — almost killing the company. Give credit to Jobs for learning from this mistake and realizing that he can’t do anything without great talent around him.

9. Stay hungry, stay foolish -

Steve Jobs’ memorable Stanford speech:

"When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960′s, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.
Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

10. Anything is possible through hard work, determination, and a sense of vision –

Although he’s the greatest CEO ever and the father of the modern computer, at the end of the day, Steve Jobs is just a guy. He’s a husband, a father, a friend — like you and me. We can be just as special as he is — if we learn his lessons and start applying them in our lives. When Jobs returned to Apple in the 1990s, it was was weeks away from bankruptcy. It’s now the biggest company in the world. Anything’s possible in life if you continue to follow the simple lessons laid out above.

" Good Artists copy, Great Artists Steal ! "

Steve jobs references a quote from Picasso and states' " Good artists copy, great artists steal. And We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas."

But I first listened this phrase in a movie pirates of silicon valley. Both Steve jobs and Bill gates used this phrase in this movie. Jobs used it when he and his team planning to steal the idea of mouse from xerox while Bill used it at the end of the movie when he had some arguments with Steve. Rich neighbor with open doors It is claimed again and again that in the course of the Macintosh's development ,Apple just restored to the ideas the research laboratory xerox PARC had hatched before fact or fiction?

The myth entwines about a late 1979 visit to Xerox PARC by a group of apple engineers and executive led by Steve Jobs, Alex Soojerg- parg ; author of " Making the Macintosh". The same situation is also shown in this movie. This team of Steve easily stole the idea of mouse from xerox .

So, it's just ironic though, that these two big companies hate piracy and yet, in the movie it depicted how the two giants Apple and Microsoft benefited from " pirating ideas from others. thus , The movie "Pirates". But Steve jobs genuinely cared about creating products that changed the world. Now Apple is billion dollar company and it is expected that it would be worth of 1 trillion dollar after 12months. But it is interesting to know that the company which was started from garage, at the same time when IBM was too big company but now condition fully changed. This is a live proof that Everything is possible and everything is changeable.

I want to add some words of Bill from the movie "pirates of silicon valley". Here it is

......You know how you survive?

You make people need you. You survive because you make them need what you have.

And then they have no where else to go.....

Now one pirate to another pirates.

Microsoft:

" We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we we can do something about it. we have decided to do something about it we think competition is healthy, but competitors should create there own original technology, not steal ours" is this a joke?

I think above phrase is enough to pretend you to watch the movie pirate of silicon valley. The movie pirates of silicon valley shows us how Steve jobs , Bill Gates and other notable personalities became successful technopreneurs. Apparently. as being portrayed, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates started with absolutely nothing. This movie is more focused on Steve jobs struggle in his early life.

This main theme of this movie is to show us how Steve Jobs established Apple Inc and Bill Gates Microsoft. This is a

awesome movie for those people who want to know the story behind the successes of the two big giants Apple and Microsoft and how it changed our life..

Pirate of Silicon valley is both Rich in history and also in values especially entrepreneurial values. Personally, i learned a lot from the movie. Though for others this movie might be a

little boring for the taste, If one has to look on how the movie was produced and filmed.
