I actually get asked this a lot --- how do I earn so many gift cards? This is usually from friends and family who are surprised to learn that I earn a lot of gift cards online. I typically use them to offset things like my Amazon habit, but I can often use them for paying for things I truly need at a store.

If you've been a reader for a long while, you know that I covet Amazon gift codes and often save them up for something I really want, but don't necessarily want to pay for outright. Even if I balk at paying full price, saving up Amazon gift codes can add up to a hefty discount at the very least. Right now, I have a specific product I am saving up for and am nearly at the half way point with $80 in my Amazon bank.

So how do I do it? Here's my list of ways I earn gift cards online.... (and referral links if you'd like to join too!) Also, please feel free to message me or ask questions in the comments. I'll do my best to answer them for you.

Swag Bucks - Swag Bucks is one of my favorite rewards sites out there. I earn Swag Bucks for searches online, watching videos, doing the daily polls, scrolling through the No Obligation offers, keeping tabs on their social media looking for special Swag Codes, surveys, playing games... there are many ways to earn. I don't do many of their partner offers, if any. I earned $10 in Amazon last month from Swag Bucks. 450 Swag Bucks = $5 Amazon, $5 PayPal = 700 Swag Bucks

Zoombucks - Like Swag Bucks, you earn Zoombucks for doing things like searches and watching videos, visiting the offers page (scroll to the bottom of Gambit wall), visiting the Zdaily page, surveys, scoring higher than others in games, and more. They also periodically have Zoombucks codes, which you can add to your account similarly to Swag Codes. These build slower than Swag Bucks, but it's still a good way to earn Amazon. 1,000 Zoombucks = $10 Amazon, $5 PayPal = 650 Zoombucks

iRazoo - iRazoo is another points site that offers points for searches, watching videos, Treasure Codes (usually posted on their Facebook wall), visiting their offers wall, surveys, and more. Unlike Zoombucks and Swag Bucks, you are awarded multiple points for actions. (For instance, watching a video on Swag Bucks might get you 1 SB, but on iRazoo, you might get 7 points, 12 points, etc.) This allows you to build faster, which is good since it takes a fair amount of points to cash out. I consider this site my 'slow and steady wins the race' site.   $5 Amazon = 3,000 points (other gift cards available, just not PayPal)

SocialMoms - As a blogger, I belong to SocialMoms. I earn the most points by blogging for programs. I recently took an opportunity for Esurance worth 8,000 points. When these credit, I should be able to trade those points in for Amazon gift codes.   I also earn points for posting comments on articles on the SocialMoms site, and tweeting out links to content there. Though I haven't taken advantage of it, you can earn points for submitting content to be published on the SocialMoms site. They used to be known as 'TwitterMoms' so you'll need to have a Twitter account to join. 4,000 points for a $20 Amazon code (though may vary)

SuperPoints - SuperPoints is the relative new kid on the block. However, many of us are earning Amazon with little effort. I earn points from emails several times a week, playing the Super Lucky Button, surveys, watching videos, and doing offers. I have cashed out once for $10 and am close to cashing out again. The more friends in your network, the faster you can cash out. For instance, I'm only at the gold level now. That means I can't cash out until I have 1,000 points. Those with more friends can cash out at 500 points. SuperPoints is also invite only - so you if you're looking for an invite, I'll list some below.   The higher the level you are, the more benefits (such as more Super Lucky button spins). My Coke Rewards - This program is one that I use to get free coupons and gift cards. Though they offer gift cards somewhat infrequently, it's important to check in to their site every now and then to see if any are available. I usually get a heads up about gift cards from a coupon board I visit. The points values differ, but I've redeemed for Walgreens gift cards, a Home Depot, Subway, and more when they're available and I have enough points. This is another one of those 'slow and steady' programs because I tend to hoard points until I can redeem for gift cards or lower priced coupons for freebies. Lately, they've been offering a special deal on TGIFridays $5 promo card (aka coupon) for 175 points. Their Wednesdays deals are worth popping in for to see if it's something good or not. Also, though you may not be interested in this program, your school likely is. So don't toss your caps if you don't do this program. Instead, send them to a school that's participating.

MyPoints -MyPoints is a rewards site that's been around for more than a decade. I have been a member for several years and have earned gift cards by cashing in points earned from surveys, click through emails, my activities on BzzAgent, shopping through the site, and viewing videos on site. For me, I don't shop heavily through MyPoints, which is how you build points the fastest, so this site is a slow earner for me. However, just clicking through emails with 5 points attached does add up over time. Amazon availability is sometimes spotty and September/October are when a lot of members who have been banking their points all year cash out for Christmas shopping, leaving the rewards a bit sparse. Currently: $25 Amazon = 3,950 points, 4,550 points = $25 PayPal

Bing Rewards - This is a search site that rewards you for performing internet searches. Plus, you can earn points for activities (such as, say 3 points for clicking through a link). With Bing Rewards, I click the ribbon icon and drop down the menu to see what's available for me to do. Additionally, check out the Discover tab often as there are lots of activities there for new members who just joined. Currently, you earn 1 point for every 2 searches per day (up to 10 points per day) through March 1. $2.50 Amazon = 275 points; $5 Amazon = 525 points

Things I may not have mentioned....

Virtually all of these programs work best if you refer friends. The points sites above, especially the search and win sites, do offer a material benefit to someone referring a new user. Most match at least for some of your referrals' activities, so spreading the word helps boost your account when your referrals participate on those sites.

Additionally, these sites are things that I do while watching TV or just spending time on my own. I don't sit here all day doing nothing but points site activities.

Think of them as long-term projects because you aren't likely to 'get rich quick' with them (unless you get a boat load of referrals...). I know that it will take me a month or more to cash out for some sites. Swag Bucks earns me the fastest, so if I'm short on time, I go with the sites that are going to pay off faster.

It also pays to keep tabs on the points sites' Facebook and Twitter accounts. ZoomBucks, iRazoo, and Swag Bucks all release codes via social media. You don't want to miss out on these codes since they're basically free points.

Mom-inspired driving tips for busy moms #Esurance

Driving is something that almost every moms does... there's a reason there's a bumper sticker out there that says, "Mom's Taxi" on it! As a mom, safety is important to me and SocialMoms and Esurance have teamed up to learn what driving tips we moms have to offer, aside from the standard "Buckle Up!" rule that we have. Here are 5 of my own mom-inspired driving tips that I would never have considered as carefully if I weren't a mom.

1. No, you can't sit in the front seat! Have you ever actually taken the time to read the fine print on the visor on the passenger side? It will tell you that allowing children 12 and under to sit/be placed in a car seat is a big no-no. A small child will not be in the same body position as an adult, and those air bags are designed for adults and a child could be injured by the airbag deploying. Having had one actually deploy - in my face - I can appreciate this warning. So there's no one under 12 that sits in the front seat of my car.

2. Cut the mindless chatter! My kids know if I tell them to cut the chatter, that they better comply with that request. We issue this warning whenever we are in heavy traffic or have to watch multiple lanes, something that is very common in the DC-area. Babbling on about nothing - particularly at their advanced ages - is frowned up. They know if we tell them we need to concentrate on the road that it's time to zip their lips.

3. Keep a respectable interval, especially in construction zones. Construction zones often bottleneck and can have starts and stops, sometimes within a very short distance. If you see those orange signs, pay close attention to the traffic in front of you, as far as you can see. Those brake lights tend to roll back through the line of traffic and you don't want to be caught unawares by someone jacking their brakes suddenly. Having been rear-ended once by an inattentive driver in a construction zone, I exercise caution with keeping enough of an interval that if traffic suddenly stops, I've got room between me and the guy ahead of me. This topic brings me to ....

4. Be nice and let people in! There are always those impatient people who rush along side you and try valiantly to cheat the system (and ignore the merge signs) in the hopes of getting a few extra cars ahead when a lane narrows. Resist the urge to not let that person in. I know it's hard! It's not rewarding their impolite and brash driving behavior, instead it is saving you from hitting them because they will cut you off to get in. Be kind and let them merge.

5. Scrape all of your windows and brush off all the snow! Though we haven't seen much snow this winter to speak of, I grew up in the snow belt of Northwestern Pennsylvania. One of the things that my parents stressed to me was the importance of brushing off all the snow and scraping the ice off all the windows in your car. You don't want have areas of window that you can't look out of, and even if you don't have back seat passengers, you should still scrape those windows as well. With regard to snow removal, you should not leave snow on your roof. Your car heats up and that snow melts, leaving a layer just floating there. Brake suddenly, and you will have it slide down over your windshield. Worse, you could be hit by someone else's roof snow! My husband took some big ice chunks off a paper delivery truck once, just from being behind him on the highway. Be safe! Take care of your snow for your safety and the safety of the guy behind you.

You see your doctor every year for a check up and you should review your insurance needs at least on a yearly basis to make sure you are well-covered in the event of the unexpected.

Greenleaf Sachets in fun, springy scents are an inexpensive way to scent your clothing and perhaps even set the mood for your Valentine's Day night. Though many women might use sachets in places like the underwear drawer or lingerie drawer, I have found a few other uses for Greenleaf's sachets around my home.

I used a Greenleaf Slim Sachet (Roses) for the car. I wanted something big enough to scent the minivan, but was afraid the large sachet would be too much scent for the space. Here, I have tucked it under the passenger seat, along with my guide book to historical road markers.

On top of the litterbox? Yes! Roses are a scent that my cats don't mind in the least. Plus, the sachet helps make the bathroom where the litter box is smell fresher. I left the plastic covering on the package because the bathroom is a humid area and I want to avoid any issues that might occur due to wetness.

I used a small sachet of Green Leaf's Blushing Tulips in the kids' bathroom. I tucked this one into a basket where hand towels are kept.

Unpictured: I used a Pomegranate sachet for my unmentionables drawer. I initially used a large sachet there, but I think I'll use a smaller one. My bras were so strongly scented that I could literally smell them all day long through my clothes. I want a lighter scent, so I'll downsize my sachet.

At prices that are approximately $2.50 for a large sachet, $2.00 for a slim sachet, and $1.30 for a small sachet, you can affordably scent your home (or car) with spring scents. Aside from the three fragrances highlighted here, Greenleaf offers more than a dozen other scents.

Do you have a 529 already set up for your child or are you thinking about it, but not sure how you'd be able to place any funds in it in this economy? Mission Tuition is an online shopping site where you can shop and have retailer rebates accrue in an educational savings account, which you can either set up through their site via Wells Fargo or, if you have a 529 already in place, you can request a check for deposit into a 529 that you may have opened under your own state's 529 program.

Mission Tuition is free to use and is an easy way to encourage begin saving for college expenses. Using their site to shop with big, brand name retailers means that you earn valuable cash rebates, which make it an ideal educational savings program for just about anyone. Want to learn more? Since you use your debit or credit card to shop through the links, that means that you can increase your ability to save money because if your card offers rewards for use, you'll still receive those through your card's company. Their list of cash rebate retailers is extensive - literally hundreds to choose from on their merchant list. You can also view merchants by category.

I know what you're thinking.... what do fruit flavored snacks have to do with Valentine's Day? This is actually a kid-centric giveaway and I hope you enjoy learning more about Ocean Spray Fruit Snacks and why they'd make a good snack choice for your child's Valentine's Day party.

Some quick facts...

Ocean Spray fruit flavored snacks are made with real fruit juices (apple, pear, and cranberry juice) and natural colors and flavors. I personally read labels and was excited to see this information. As someone sensitive to food dye (Blue 1), I also know that a surprising number of my friends do what they can to avoid red food dye in their child's diet. If natural colorings are important to you, check these out!

They're gluten free. This is something I also look for and I do know a child who has that double whammy of no red food dye and needing food to be gluten free. These are a perfect fit for a snack for her.

What did we think of the taste?

I love these snacks and I have been eating them just as often as the kids have. I thought with them being an Ocean Spray brand that they might be tart, like a cranberry. But this isn't the case. These are sweet to taste. Of the two varieties I was sent to sample, I liked the Berries and Cherries the best. The other variety, Assorted Fruit, was tasty, but I liked the cherry taste of the other kind just a little more.

Coming to a Happy Meal box near you is a smaller portion of fries, this according to a press release today from McDonald's. The new Happy Meal will automatically include apple slices instead of the standard kid-sized fries that used to be included. Instead, kids will receive apple slices (1/2 serving) as the side to their Hamburger, Cheeseburger or McNugget meal, in addition to a smaller serving of their golden fries (1.1 ounces). If you want apples only and no fries, they will toss in an additional bag of apples in lieu of the fries. You'll still get your choice of beverage, which I assume still means they aren't forcing parents to buy their kid milk instead of a soda with their meal.

These changes will be rolling out at a McDonald's near you nationwide by March. The new Happy Meals are available in the Philadelphia area starting today.

Did you have an awesome time snagging Swag Codes during last week's Swag Code Extravaganza! I do believe that I snagged them all, thus adding 60 Swag Bucks to my account. I just love how Swag Bucks makes everything fun and next week will be no exception!

Monday will start their Spirit Week at Swag Bucks.
