So...the big question...are these any good? My girls love chocolate and candy, so I couldn't wait for them to try these. They sent us two flavors to try...Milk Chocolate with Rice Crisps and Milk Chocolate with Graham Cracker. My girls loved them. The chocolate has a very creamy texture to it and the graham cracker and rice crisps that are mixed in is just the right amount..so that you can savor the sweet creamy chocolate goodness.

Summer time is approaching and that means time for grilling. Whatever your favorite meal to prepare on the grill, you always need a good rub or marinade. That is where Char Crust Dry Rub comes in. They have something for everyone. Plus, you don't even have to wait to use it on the grill, you can bake or broil with it.

Here is a little background on Char Crust. It all started in 1957, at the legendary Chicago steakhouse, Al Farber's. Thick prime steaks with sizzling charred crusts, bursting with juicy flavor, were the signature of the restaurant. When diners would literally beg to take their seasonings home, they knew they had a winner! That time and those flavors are captured in their two original dry rubs: Original Hickory Grilled (originally called just Char Crust®) and Roto Roast.

Char Crust has 9 different products to try for any meats, fish or veggies! Those flavors are: Original Hickory Grilled, Roasted Garlic Peppercorn, All American BBQ, Ginger Teriyaki, Smoky Spicy Southwest, Amazin' Cajun, Sun-Dried Tomato & Garlic, Hickory Molasses and Roto Roast.

Check out this recipe they have on their website for Pan-Seared Tilapia
Tilapia fillets -- about 6 oz per person
Char Crust® Amazin' Cajun Dry Rub Seasoning -- about 1/2 Tbsp per fillet
A little oil, canola is good
A little butter (optional), at room temperature
We actually prefer this recipe with catfish, but tilapia seems to have more fans.

Heat a cast iron pan on the stove until very hot. Season one side of the fish with Char Crust® Amazin' Cajun Dry Rub Seasoning, generously covering the surface. Drizzle a little oil all over the seasonings, using your fingers to rub in and distribute evenly. Seasonings will look moist and darken a bit. Place the fish, seasoned side down, into the pan. It should sizzle immediately, and you may get some smoke. Cook a few minutes until just cooked through. Transfer to plate with seasoned side up and place pat of butter on top.

Char Crust was kind enough to send me the samples to try. We decided to first try the All American BBQ on Chicken. Take a look at how the spices look in the package, (see picture below). It tasted so good and was so easy to use. Just cover the meat, use a little oil to keep the spices from burning and cook! It was bursting with flavor and left the chicken so moist on the inside.

They are so simple to use, and when you are short on time, who doesn't love convenience and simplicity. Plus, they taste so good. All Char Crust products are made from natural ingredients that are simple, recognizable and easy to pronounce. There are no weird chemicals or synthetic stuff. Last week, my friends shared some applesauce muffins with my girls and they have been talking about it non-stop. So after searching the internet, I found this recipe on allrecipes.com, but tweaked it a little for my own preference (whole wheat flour, splenda, etc..). I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground allspice
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups applesauce
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 cup raisins

Directions

In a bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, allspice and baking soda; set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, applesauce and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in raisins. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups three-fourths full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to a wire rack.

2 cups cooked organic brown rice

Directions
Place the cooked rice, almond milk, maple syrup and Mother Earth Zest® Tea in a saucepan. Cover and bring almost to a boil. Reduce the flame to medium-low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until creamy. Remove the cover, and add the vanilla. Cover and simmer another 5 minutes.

For 2012, Learning Resources has released a huge variety of new educational toys. Amongst them is the Primary Science Mix and Measure Set. Amongst the tools are 3 self-standing spoons, 6 unique cup designs help children visualize quantities, a bowl with lid, and a scale. While my girls would be just happy as can be measuring and pouring water for hours, I love that the kit comes with Activity Cards to guide children and their parents on various fun "experiments".

My girls, ages 5 and 7, were both instantly engaged with the set. My five year old loves that she can now make her own bubble solution. Like most kids, she manages to spill her fair share of store bought bubble solution and she is now excited that she can refill her bottles on her own. My seven year old loves that she can now create her own slime and clay. By creating the clay and leaving it white, she also gets the chance to paint her project when it dries. This is a wonderful set for elementary kids and I would recommend it as a mother and a teacher. My girls are learning fractions without even knowing it.

My Thoughts:

I honestly can say that I genuinely surprised at how moist and delicious these brownies were. I received one of each variety and shared it with my family. These brownies were huge portions. Although they say they are 2 servings, we split them into four pieces and were still more than satisfied. My absolute favorite was the Butterscotch Blonde. The flavor, texture, and moisture were just perfect. I may have hinted to my hubby that I wouldn't mind a few more for my birthday today. :) My hubby's favorite was the Belgian Chocolate Chunk.
