Opened in 1935 with one 11 kilometers line and 13 stations, it was the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union. Currently, Moscow Metro has 182 stations. Its route length is 301.2 kilometers. The system is mostly underground, with the deepest section located at 84 meters below ground, at Park Pobedy station.
