Marriott Vacation Club Orlando Florida

I recently spent a couple of days at the Marriott's Cypress Harbour Vacation club in Orlando, Florida. It is close to all the attractions and the grounds of this place were beautiful. If only the thermometer went above 30 it would of been great to take full advantage of the pools and grounds!
We had a 2 bedroom condo complete with full kitchen, 3 TVs, washer and dryer (laundry room) and two bathrooms a hot tub/jacuzzi in the master bedroom. Balcony overlooked the beautiful grounds too.
The appliances were a little dated (old). The refrigerator needed updating for sure.

The second bedroom was small. It had a full size bed and also a pull out sleeper soft in it. When opened there was little room to move around. The sofa sectional was okay for sitting on but the pull out was uncomfortable for sleeping. But all in all this place was great for a family get together, pre-wedding reunion of family and friends etc.

If you are planning on mixing business with pleasure and need to use their Internet services I would re-think that. It was very slow and hard to get online.
A great place for a couple to kickback and relax.

Going off season resulted in lower rates...peak season is pricey!

Marriott Beachside Key West

I recently stayed at the Marriott Beachside Hotel in Key West Florida for 4 days. The Presidential suite guest room #112a was top notch, marble floors through out, full kitchen and 1 and 1/2 baths with bedroom seperate from living area. Nice dining area too. Had all the makings for a wonderful visit here in the Keys. Opeing the door to the balcony provided and instant view of the Gulf of Mexico but a sudden out burst by me to the hotel attendant delivering our bags. He was asking me if everything was okay. I said to him "Is that a landfill I am looking at to the right" I received no reply from hotel attendant.

Balcony with 2 comfortable chairs but a tainted view of the Gulf of Mexico. Tainted view due to a inactive landfill off to our right of the balcony. Location of this room was next to the busy road so when sitting outside you really didn't appreciate what the hotel called "stunning accommendations and breath taking views of the Gulf" considering the noise of traffic and the view of the landfill off in the distance.
The hotel grounds around the pool area was filled with tropical plants and trees and lounge chairs and tables. The pool was suppose to be "heated" this guest complained that the pool was freezing and hotel employee told me that I should jump in the hot tub if I was cold. Sure not a place for taking a swim.
A small sand front area for sunbathing as well.
The beach area at this hotel for swimming was small and was shared by the "jet ski" tour service at the hotel. This was also right outside of my room. It is suggested that you bring your water shoes if you are planning on going in for a swim in the ocean anywhere in the Keys.
The Marriott was host to a wedding for approximately 70 guests while I was there. The bride and groom looked happy. The ceremony was out in the pool area in the "small sandy area for sun bathing" It was set up nicely with chairs and a Flower Arbor. After the ceremony the guests were served appetizers in the pool area where there were private guest cabanas converted to meet the needs of the wedding guests. The lawn furniture was removed from them and banquet tables were set up. Very classy set up.
The wedding guests then enjoyed dinner in the hotels ballroom.
As far as the building and hotel grounds they are like I said top notch, at least the presidential suite that I stayed in was, but the tainted view of the Gulf, I just couldn't get pass.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Saratoga Springs, NY. Stayed at the Residence Inn. It is a great place to kick back and relax. They offer a nice breakfast each morning and a social hour with light meal/snacks Monday-Thursday. The room offered a place to entertain, prepare meals, a full refrig and even a dishwasher. What a great way for Wedding Guests to enjoy time before and after the celebration!
I also visited the Residence Inn in East Greenbush, NY. During the visit two Wedding Guest Parties occupied the hotel. Shuttle service was provided for the guests to Birch Hill for the Wedding Reception. Birch Hill looks like a great place to celebrate!
I found the Residence Inn's by Marriott a wonderful place for business people, wedding guests and vacationers alike!

Helpful Hints for Addressing Your Wedding Invitations

Addressing Etiquette and Tips

1. Creating the wedding guest list is the first step in getting organized. The guest list should contain full names, addresses and zip codes. You will find you can use this list not only for addressing your wedding invitations but for sending Save the Date Cards, Wedding Announcements and Thank You Cards as well.

2. Experience tells us that some guest may forget to put their names on the response card that they send back to you. Why not assign a secret number to each of your guests from the beginning. Then lightly in pencil or an invisible ink pen, write it on the back of your response cards. If your guests forget to write their name on the line, you now have created a way to find out who is responding.

3. Your invitation envelopes are traditionally addressed by hand, a calligrapher or perhaps from your home or office printer.

4. Traditionally, 2 envelopes are used for wedding invitations and/or announcements. The outer envelope has a glued flap and is used for the complete mailing address. The guest's full name is always used on the outer envelope with the street address:

Mr. and Mrs. William Smith
2 South Main Street
Bliss, NY 12839

Nicknames or abbreviations should be avoided when possible except for Mr., Mrs., Dr., Jr., etc. and for military rank. You may use an initial if you do not know the full name or if the person never uses their given name. Cities, states, and numbered streets are written out in full. Remember to include zip codes. You can visit the USPS.com website to obtain zip codes.

4B. The inner envelope, which may be plain or lined in a color to coordinate your ensemble, is without glue and remains unsealed. It is used to enclose the invitation or announcement and any accompanying cards. It also makes sure that your invitation itself is delivered in a clean envelope that does not show signs of handling and markings from the postal service

The inner envelope always carries the last names only with no address:
Mr. and Mrs. Sutton
Avoid the phase “and family” if possible. Younger children should be mentioned by first name, according to age, on the line following that of their parents:

Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Linda, John, Patti

These names should appear on the inner envelope only. The outer envelope would simply be addressed to the parents. You should avoid writing "No Children" on the invitation or envelope. This should be handled verbally, if you feel someone needs this clarified.

Dates of single guests should be sent a separate invitation or you may wish to enclose a personal note in the invitation of a single guest saying, "Please bring a guest of your choice" or "Please bring Miss Marie Jones".

Two unmarried people who reside at the same address may be sent a single invitation. Their names would appear on separate lines in alphabetic order:

Ms. Roberta Jones
Mr. Robert William

This same format may be used when inviting a married couple, if the wife has kept her maiden name or uses a professional title.

In addressing clergy, military officers and medical doctors, always use their titles in full:

The Right Reverend William Harbison
Colonel and Mrs. John Mann
Doctor and Mrs. Martin Jones
The Doctors Jones

The Postal Service recommends that you put your return address on the flaps of the outer invitation envelopes. These should be printed, written, or embossed on the flap of your outer envelope. This ensures that any wedding invitation envelope can be returned to you with an address that is in error or for any other reason.

When the big day is scheduled and your family and friends come up with dozens of wedding reception ideas, remember this is suppose to be the once in a lifetime celebration for the bride and groom. The reception needs to be linked to the marriage ceremony and they both should reflect the vision of the bride especially.
If you and other family members are busy you may have to hire a bridal consultant. If you do chose to hire a consultant make sure you detail a budget and have a set plan in writing before you hire. Also before you hire a consultant make sure you ask friends for recommendations or ask florist, caterers, photographers or the Association of Bridal Consultants. That brings up the another important consideration the budget. The biggest part of the budget hinges upon how many people will attend. The couple should sit down together and figure out your priorities. A smaller attendance figure may allow for a full dinner. While a big open invitation reception may force you to serve finger food or buffet only. If you decide not serve dinner be sure to schedule the event early enough in the afternoon so it can conclude by dinner time and people can go out for dinner on their own.
One big expense is the tradition of an open bar. There are ways to getaway from this without offending anyone. If full dinner option has been selected then serve wine, beer and champagne through dinner, but change from open bar for hard drinks to host bar as soon as the champagne toast is complete right before dinner.

Flower Girl

The flower girl is usually an extra to your bridesmaids, and traditionally walks in front of the bride on the way down the aisle at the start of the ceremony. As her name suggests, she carries a flower girl basket and scatters rose petals on the ground for you to walk through. However, many facilities/churches do not permit this due to the real possibility of someone slipping on dropped petals, flower girls now often carry a basket of posies. Or instead she can carry a basket of confetti or petals during the ceremony, and then distribute it outside at the end of the service.A flower girl is usually a young child, often dressed in a more youthful version of the bridesmaids’ and many times even wearing a flower girl veil.

Having young children in the wedding party is a popular idea that can delight the guests. However, if your flower girl and ring bearer are very young then it may be wise to allow her to make her entrance with you and then sit with her parents during the ceremony and rejoin you afterwards for the recessional line.

Ring Bearer

The role of the ring bearer is quite simple. He/she carries the ring or rings, often on a ring bearer pillow, to be presented during the ceremony. Usually walks with the flower girl down the aisle. Even though you may receive your order in about a week you should order anywhere from 3 to 6 months prior to the event.
Be sure to verify the wedding ceremony site & reception site as well as the dates and times before you have the invitations printed!

Why order more wedding invitations then you need! It seems like I should be able to buy 50 wedding invitations for ½ the price of 100 Right? Wrong! Your raised printed invitations and enclosures items start with the printer doing a "set-up". The printer will need to do this whether you are ordering 25 invitations or 1000. So…the person who orders 25 invitations will be paying more per invitation than the person who orders 1000. It’s best to order 25 to 50 more with the original order. Invitations can be quite expensive for your bridal shower, rehearsal dinners, weddings, or just any occasion. By simply using your computer and purchasing a make your own invitation stationary kits you can save a substantial amount of money in the process. Even those who do not consider themselves very handy can easily put together their own unique invitations using stock paper and the instructions on Masterpiece Studios printing tips page.

Begin by choosing a heavy stock printable invitation paper with a distinctive color textures or print. The paper should compliment the theme and colors of the occasion you our using it for. Be sure the weight of the paper is at least 65 LB weight or more because then you need not worry if it will feed through your printer. You may wish to glue on a small ribbon bow, tiny silk flower, add a pretty sticker, or perhaps wrap a contrasting paper or silk ribbon band around the invitation. Fasten the papers together at the top. Using a small punch hole, make two holes through both papers near the top. Tie the paper together using thin silk ribbons, raffia, small tassels or decorative metal fasteners.
