War Of USM and TSU!

By Luckyman01

On June 23rd 2012 a group named USM or United States Military came under fire by the so called "Freedom Phantom." Or in other words the Soviet Union and their leader. (Emblem above) USM took heavy fighting and did not officially call it a war. On June 24th 2012, 2 Soviet Nuclear missiles landed in eastern Kazakhstan and The southern tip of Kunar AFB. USM has launched pilots from Lackland AFB on a rescue mission of 3 pilots taken hostage by Soviet Tank commanders. So far the Soviets are winning an accurate 82-46 in the battles. Most battles are small and compact. I will Research more and give you The News next week. Thank you, This has been a report by Luckyman01 and please Enjoy The Current Roblox News.

Using 'WAIT' Wisely

2012-05-15T04:08:00.004-04:00

We're sorry!

We haven't been updating The Current Roblox News as much as we used to. This is because of iHtc's problem at the moment. (something to do with his mum & dad)
________________________________________________________________________________

Using 'wait' Wisely

A little cut out of what was posted on ROBLOX Blog:

Many script's want to run bit's of code at frequent intervals. For example, the script might might update the behaviour of a zombie. It need's to update condition's repeatedly, like checking the location of the closest player to the zombie.

ROBLOX is trying to tell you, that instead of using wait(), you can use wait(10) instead.

Because if you just leave the bracket () empty, wait() will be regening 1000 times a second, yet instead, you could just have 10 items regening a second. Games with just wait() tend to be the more laggy ones, making your player's just click [X] in the corner! (or of course your red O)

For example:

while true do
findClosestEnemy()
wait()
end

that, above isn't a good script. Can you spot the mistake?

But, this below, is correct. Can you see why?

while true do
findClosestEnemy()
wait(5.0)
end

Even I know how to do that, and I already did. (and you know how rubbish at scripting I am!) So really, ROBLOX is just giving you a reminder, but it's also a lesson for the people whose zombie game's are laggy!

How the Easter Egg Hunt 2012 went

2012-04-14T06:57:00.001-04:00

As if you didn't know, it's iHtc here!

We're posting about the OFFICIAL Egg Hunt 2012 - not one made by people like EggHuntz2012's un-official version.

The Easter Egg Hunt 2012 did go quite well, but by the end of the time, server's got hacked, exploited, people got weapons, some wiped the base away, and many more bad things. We'll talk about that after - let's keep on the Good News for now!

To see the picture of this game, please go to this link. Blogger wouldn't let me move the picture for some reason. (sorry those of you whose internet is reaaaaallllyyyy slow!)

The Easter Egg Hunt 2012 went great, we had more than 10,000+ people get at least two egg's, and possibly around 2500 (these figures are just estimated) got all of the eggs, without their server being hacked (see more on Hacking later)

Sadly, this place is no longer reachable, as the creator, Games has made this place inactive, so we cannot access it, he cannot earn 'Tix', and can't enter it in Competitions.

Hacking... what happened?

Sadly, many people, maybe reaching up to around 4,500 got all their egg's by going onto a hacked server. When I went onto a server, I didn't get the Virtual Egg's, but got displayed a screen-blocking message saying something like 'THIS SERVER HAS BEEN EXPLOITED BY [ CONTENT DELETED ]* Sorry for any inconvience' *I did [ CONTENT DELETED ] so you can't access the name, so you've got less of a chance of getting hacked yourself :-). This hacking was more on the Monday/Tuesday, as people knew it was their last chance to get all the egg's, but couldn't be bothered to move their fingers/mouse to get them.

If you got effected by the hacking, email ihtcblox@gmail.com - I will try to help you.

Have you got something to say? Post it in the comment's, just don't do anything naughty.

If you would like an interview by Trandev/iHtc* email me, at ihtcblox@gmail.com. I'll be happy to assist you.

*Trandev and iHtc are the same people. As I said in my 1st post on TCRN, I will be using the account Trandev soon.

+ Sadly, you have to be quite popular to be interviewed. (no where near as popular as your fav. Shedletsky)

iHtc,

How TCRN Works

2012-04-13T21:51:00.001-04:00

Read about that on this page: http://thecurrentrobloxnews.blogspot.com/p/how-we-work.html or read below.

TheCurrentRobloxNews is owned by Liam Mills (liama517). We TheCurrentRobloxNews' logo, name, and everything on this site is trademarked by Wreaking Havoc Productions. Liam is the main boss, he is the owner of the roblox.com group, the YouTube channel, the FaceBook page, the Twitter account, and the website. The way this organization works is that there is group of special members (of a board) that vote and decide on what happens to this organization. Once they vote on it, it gets passed onto Liam who can chose whether or not it will be good for the organization, and decide not to go through with the plans. Liam can only be fired with a 100% vote from the board and from the viewers of every page that TheCurrentRobloxNews owns. They will then hold a vote on who gets new ownership. If not all members/followers agree then Liam can not be fired as the main owner of TheCurrentRobloxNews. If Liam decides to resign, he can decide whether to leave it to the board to find a new owner, or if he appoints a new one. Liam can do anything in the organization without a vote from the board EXCEPT: Deleting the website, changing the name, transferring the website to another URL/page.

Would you advertise in your game for ROBUX?

2012-04-12T10:13:00.001-04:00

ROBLOX Ledgend, Shedletsky (formerly Telamon) has tweeted:

@Game Developers: Would you place brand advertisements in your place for R$? Or just keep them as they are? Please reply #shedletsky

Those of you who are lucky enough to have Twitter, reply to @Shedletsky, as he asked. Just search on Twitter, Shedletsky.

What do you think about these adverts? Good or bad? Post what you think in the comments, it might be featured in one of iHtc's next post's!

iHtc, again!

A video to far?

2012-04-12T06:21:00.002-04:00

Thanks to ROBLOX's official Blog for this picture.

Video Advertisements... Picture Advertisements... A ROBUX too far?

Hello...
iHtc, again!

Do you think ROBLOX has gone toooooooooooooooo (whoops!) far?

Now, you can upload a Video advertisement, to show the people what your game is really like... but... this is just an utter video tooooooooooooooooo (whoops, again!) far!

For a 30 second video on your game place, it cost's: 1000R$
For a normal picture, without having to get those annoying angles, it's: 20R$

For a 30 second video ad, 100R$... it's not worth it! ROBLOX did say on their blog, that this is a price to get started with, to see do they get spammed/are they too much for moderators, but, they won't find out... because: If people know they are going to be cheaper soon, they won't pay for it, but uhoh... ROBLOX think's nobody likes it, and delete's the feature... I asked a few people on the ROBLOX Official Blog, and VIA Private Messaging, and 8 out of every 9 people I asked said that it's a horrid price, a rip off, 1000R$.

Some people, like NBC member's take absolute ages to save up for R$, and then if they accidently upload the wrong video to YouTube, and ROBLOX declines it, dun dun dun!

Even with it just being a trial price... will it even go down, or even further up in the future?!

What do you think? Tell us in the comments. All you need to comment is: Linked IN, Windows Live, a Google Account, Twitter Account, or Open ID! It's not exactly hard, to get just one of these accounts is it?!

Dangerous Players

2012-04-06T18:29:00.001-04:00

Other users of TCRN have told us that various admin accounts have been hacked.
I have so much to confess.

Suspect Nephew

I have been good friends with Patrick Murphy, or agenthunt77. We have been friends in real life and on RoBLOX. Only about a week ago he told me that he was Matt Dussek's nephew.

The Foolish Thing Matt Did

Unfortunatly, Matt told Patrick/agenthunt77 his password. He did not know that this was dangerous, especially with Pat. Pat/agenhunt77 hacked Matt's account, changing all of his places. Matt was very angry, and had to start over.

What Worries Me

I'm afraid that Matt told Patrick other admin passwords, too. What could have happened next? What else, he hacked their accounts too. Pat has always wanted a better RoBLOX, but I not sure this would be the solution. I'll start questioning him.

For more details and other things Pat/agenthunt77 did, PM me on RoBLOX or Email me.

When I'm not playing ROBLOX, I can be found playing PC games like Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, City of Heroes, Runescape, and many more games. I also make pixel art for fun.

I'm really looking forward to writing about ROBLOX, and I hope to see you all again in the future!

April 1st Events On Roblox

2012-04-03T19:18:00.000-04:00

Sorry for this being late but I wanted to make sure I got all the facts right and got info from roblox and not random users thinking they know what is going on.

On April 1st, 2012 it was April Fools Day (it comes every April 1st so you should know that). Roblox experienced many events such as accounts that have been banned for a LONG time becoming active all of a sudden and banners appearing on the top of the website. But think about it this way, if your Roblox account has been banned for a year and un-usable, why in the world would you all of a sudden decide "OH I'm gonna try and log onto my Roblox account today! Maybe it's been unbanned even though it was deleted!". So I believe it was not the actual accounts of the people have screwed with Roblox. I am not saying it was hacked, I am just giving both sides of the story. In the morning people on the forums praised a Roblox user "Minish" for coming back, even though I have never heard of him and he only has 200k place visits. He posted "I'm back!" and many posts followed welcoming him. Some other users such as Are17, Pheedy, Merely, and JJ5x5 were users that people on Roblox talk were welcoming back. Merely and Pheedy are said to be involved also, but as I said, I do not think it was the real users. What does an argument on the forums have to do with Roblox getting so screwed up it has to be taken offline? (Read about that on Roblox News: http://arbirator-robloxnews.blogspot.com/2012/04/prank-too-far-robloxs-recovery.html) They were framed, but they were framing THEMSELVES because they were posing as them. At first I thought this was an April Fools prank by Roblox because, the mods are fun and they love posting April Fools jokes on the site such as these (if you remember Shedletsky challenging Jaredvaldez4 on the front page):

But they released at least 20 EXTREMELY rare limiteds (with 2 or 200 of each selling and for only 10-100 R$), the prices of those shot up to more than 5 times their original price. These limiteds, Roblox is saying, were not supposed to be released yet. This gave tons of money to many users who didn't, sorry if I offend you, deserve it! They were never meant to get them at all! Roblox today changed the prices of them from 10 to 10,000! But the users didn't lose the item, it just changed the number on the catalog, which is pretty much pointless. A new face was also released and given to one user: Stickmasterluke, who had no idea what was going on and thought that the other Admins were playing a prank on him according to his Twitter account. People are saying it is one of the scariest faces ever but I would actually buy it and proudly wear it because of how weird and stupid it looks. (Roblox is about creativity guys!) Here's the face:

Limiteds released:

And what really got me to know this wasn't an April Fools joke is that ReeseMcBlox and other Roblox staff members were CURSING on the forums! They would never do that! It would risk losing their TRUSTe seal.

Many other users were also cursing on the forums and getting away with it. Many users were given MILLIONS of robux and some even got mod powers! Roblox then shut the site down for the night, and patched how the site was getting messed with.

The Aftermath:

The day after the incident, you were not able to purchase anything on the site (with the virtual currency) and not allowed to trade currency. Two days afterwards (the day I am writing this) all the features are returned to normal and Roblox did a full item rollback returning items to how you had them before April 1st, 2012. But they also made some mistakes where people like me lost some robux in which case you have to contact info@Roblox.com They sent out a PM saying this from the account ROBLOX:

"Hello Fellow Robloxian,

As you are probably aware, the ROBLOX website experienced an issue the evening of April 1st.

As part of the corrective measures the ROBLOX team has taken, one or several of your virtual transactions made on the afternoon of the 1st have been rolled back.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact customer support via email: info@roblox.com

Thanks,
ROBLOX Staff"

So that is the true, real, and unbiased version of the April 1st, 2012 Roblox event.
Thanks for reading

Telamon Changed ROBLOX Name To Shedletsky

2012-03-22T12:16:00.000-04:00

Roblox creative direction John Shedletsky used to be known as Telamon for MANY years. He has his YouTube, Twitter and other account names under Shedletsky and his last name Shedletsky so why not make his Roblox that? It may disappoint a lot of you but Telamon on Roblox I still think is Shedletsky and Shedletsky is Telamon who is John Shedletsky.
